Johnny Percival runs through the future Ryder Cup venues, including this year's host Bethpage Black just outside New York
Transcript
00:00The 2025 Ryder Cup is being held at Bethpage Black, with Team USA looking to take advantage
00:04of a partisan crowd in order to win back the trophy they lost at Marco Simoni in 2023.
00:09However, even with the drama of Bethpage Black yet to play out, the organisers have planned
00:14miles ahead, with courses already confirmed up to 2037. So, let's take a look at Bethpage
00:19Black and the six other courses we know are going to host a Ryder Cup.
00:22Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York will be holding its first Ryder Cup in 2025, but
00:27it is no stranger to the big occasion.
00:29The notoriously difficult track has played host to two US Opens in 2002 and 2009, as
00:35well as the 2019 PGA Championship that was won by Brooks Koepka.
00:39The tricky New York track has also hosted the 2012 and 2016 FedExCup playoff tournament,
00:44the Barclays.
00:45The Black course is one of five at Bethpage State Park, and it's also the most difficult.
00:50Now, you're expecting narrow fairways, thick rough, deep bunkers and a very tough day on
00:55the course.
00:56And if you want to play it, you can also expect an overnight stay in the car park.
00:592027 marks the centenary year for the Ryder Cup, and for this special occasion, it's going to be
01:04headed to Adair Manor in County Limerick, Ireland.
01:06In 2015, acclaimed course architect Tom Vazio redesigned the original Robert Trent Jones course,
01:12and while he kept the routing, he redesigned all of the greens, tees, fairways and water features.
01:18The course, which ranks 27th on Gulf Monthly's UK and Ireland Top 100 list, draws favourable comparisons to
01:23both Augusta National and Valderrama.
01:25In 2029, the Ryder Cup is headed back to Hazeltine for the second time since it hosted the tournament
01:29in 2016, which witnessed one of the all-time blowouts with Team USA wiping the floor with Team Europe 1711.
01:37Hazeltine also has plenty of major pedigree, having hosted the US Open in 1970 and 1991,
01:42and the PGA Championship in 2002 and 2009. The course is hilly with narrow fairways and small
01:48greens, putting an absolute premium on accuracy, and the 16th tee shot, the signature hole on the
01:52course, even requires a tee shot over Lake Hazeltine. Camarón Spain has recently been confirmed as the
01:58host venue for 2031, and it will be the second time the Cup heads back to Spain after Europe's famous
02:02victory at Valderrama in 1997.
02:05Previously, the venue was known as PGA Catalunya, and the stadium course will provide a tough test
02:10for even the best players in the world, featuring undulating fairways, tough terrain, heather, pine
02:15trees lining the fairways, and lakes on seven of the toughest holes. Camarón has hosted three
02:20editions of the Spanish Open in 2000, 2009 and 2014, and it's also hosted the Catalunya
02:26Championship on the DP World Tour in 2022. Ahead of the Ryder Cup, it will also host the Estrella
02:31Dam Catalunya Championship in 2028, 2029 and 2030. The 2033 Ryder Cup will come from the
02:38Lake Course at San Francisco's Olympic Club. Among the first 100 established courses in the US,
02:43the Olympic Club has hosted five US Opens, the 2021 US Women's Open, two tour championships,
02:48and multiple amateur events, making it one of the most recognizable courses in the country.
02:53The Willie Watson-designed course features forest-lined sloping fairways. However, if you were hoping for
02:58water, you're going to be disappointed, for as despite its name, it features no lakes to navigate.
03:04The course will change in time for the tournament, with esteemed course architect Gil Hans recently
03:08being approved to undergo restoration work. The 2033 match will also mark the first time the
03:13Ryder Cup has headed to the West Coast, since 1959 when Indian Wells in California hosted.
03:18The 2035 European Ryder Cup venue has yet to be announced. However, in 2037,
03:24the biennial showpiece is headed to Congressional Country Club.
03:27The course in Maryland is considered one of the most prestigious in the world,
03:30having hosted three US Opens, with the most recent coming in 2011,
03:33which was won by none other than Rory McIlroy.
03:36Congressional has also hosted the 2022 KPMG PGA Women's Championship,
03:40and will have the honour of doing so again in 2027.
03:43Six years before its Ryder Cup debut, Congressional will also be host to the PGA
03:47Championship for the second time since 1976.
