00:00No! You gave me Canadian bacon instead of bacon?
00:03This misdeed cannot go unpunished.
00:06Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the craziest family guy theories that make us see the show in a new light.
00:13Hi, are you a straight adult male who likes to eat crepes without people making unwanted assumptions about your private life?
00:19Go to discreetcrepe.com.
00:22Number 30. Steve Smith is the Griffins' long-lost son.
00:25Being on a separate show somehow doesn't make this any less plausible.
00:30A theory from a now-deleted Reddit account posited a seemingly insane idea.
00:34That Steve Smith of American Dad is actually one of the Griffin family's long-lost children.
00:39Your looks open the door, but your personality takes the door off its hinges.
00:44You may think it sounds crazy, but when thinking about the family units in the McFarlane universe,
00:48pretty much all of the kids look like their parents in some way.
00:51Except for Steve.
00:53He shares more traits with the Quahog residents, most notably Peter's hair and chin and Lois' nose.
00:58Whoa, whoa, whoa.
01:01Lois, this is not my Batman glass.
01:03Peter, are you listening?
01:05To make things even crazier, the two series do seem to exist in the same universe,
01:09making it even more likely that Steve was either given up by the Griffins or taken by the Smiths.
01:14Oh man, classic American Dad.
01:18Number 29. Stewie is an adult playing a baby.
01:22Cartoon logic makes it easy to explain the adult thing Stewie does as mere comedy.
01:26According to you slash jacobwallace8721, there is a much more logical explanation.
01:32According to him, the youngest Griffin isn't a baby, but an adult playing one.
01:37He even claims that Stewie is the oldest.
01:39Make sure Tom Tucker knows he has 20 minutes and he is to only talk about the book.
01:43No personal questions.
01:45Alright, are you okay?
01:46You good?
01:46You need anything?
01:47Alright.
01:47Alright, we're inside and there is nobody here to greet us.
01:50We have no idea where we are or where we're supposed to go.
01:52The proof primarily comes from inside Family Guy, where we learn that the family is playing fictionalized versions of themselves.
01:59The pieces then start to come together.
02:01You want to talk about the show?
02:02I'll talk about the show.
02:03The show sucks.
02:05The only reason I stay here is to maintain my profile for my startup business, DiscreetCrepe.com.
02:10Stewie's voice is more developed than Chris's or Meg's.
02:13Lois and Peter are old enough to have an adult son.
02:16The theory even speculates that the Griffins came up with the ruse early on, thinking it would be funnier if he played a baby rather than a short-grown adult.
02:24Oh, I know. Stewie's gonna fire up his time machine and undo this.
02:27Stewie enters.
02:28Brian, bad news.
02:30My time machine got a virus that causes dad to die again if it's ever used.
02:34Number 28.
02:35Brian's substance use is reflected in his de-evolution.
02:38The fact that this is based in reality makes it all the more likely.
02:41Even as an adult, taking certain illicit substances can negatively impact your cognitive function, from decision-making to regulation.
02:50While several adults on Family Guy have partaken before, none displays the signs of clear degradation more than Brian.
02:57And that's bad dog stuff. That's not good dog stuff.
03:00Wait, what?
03:01Reddit's you slash GrandmasterSexay suggests that the dog's continued drug and alcohol usage may be the reason for the changes to his personality and intelligence.
03:09With dog brains being vastly smaller than human ones, it could explain why his moments on psychedelics and amphetamines have been so intense and had such a lasting effect.
03:28He's being so smart in the beginning compared to now shows how damaging Brian's experiences have been.
03:34I just, I really am in no condition to drive home.
03:38Number 27.
03:39Mayor West was only pretending to be insane.
03:42The citizens of Quahog are treated to several wacky antics carried out by Quahog's mayor.
03:47For years, all of these instances were assumed to be insanity.
03:51A season 13 episode shows that may not be the case.
03:54While in a therapy session, his doctor, Cleveland, reveals what he thinks.
03:58That Mayor West is aware of everything he does and only pretends to be crazy.
04:02You are 100% aware of what you're doing.
04:05I think you're a dangerous sociopath.
04:08Cleveland, let me tell you something.
04:11You're absolutely f***ing right.
04:14West confirms it and then later confesses to slaying multiple people.
04:18Ah, I mean, I have ducks on my feet.
04:21Old, crazy, harmless mayor.
04:23Quack, quack.
04:24This wouldn't have even been the first time he's been corrupt.
04:27A couple of netizens have noted his corrupt behavior, such as banning gay marriage to cover a scandal.
04:33Could they be right?
04:34Or was the mayor simply crazy and having delusions?
04:37We may never learn the truth.
04:39Come on, Mittens.
04:40Come on, Paul.
04:42What a ridiculous name for a cat.
04:46Paul, that's a person's name.
04:49Remember what we said about these two universes being connected?
04:57Stay with us because it's about to get even crazier.
05:00One of our own subscribers posited a truly mind-blowing theory.
05:03That the show and the antics that occur on it are due to a simulation run by the government and American Dad.
05:09Uh, that's our alien, Roger.
05:11He lives in our attic, but nobody can know.
05:13And don't tell anybody about our attic.
05:14According to AtJonathanBar9764, when Stan shoots Peter during the cold open of Big Fat,
05:21he then kidnaps him and places him in one of the vats from vacation goo that can perfectly replicate the real world.
05:27Strip you down, put you in the goo, and program the greatest family vacation ever.
05:33So, that time in Mexico when you and I went hang gliding and you told me you loved me?
05:37Neither of those things ever happened.
05:38He then explained that they keep him there for observation while investigating a claim that he slaughtered his family.
05:44To keep him from catching on, they put in plenty of distractions in the form of wacky misadventures.
05:50The question isn't how I do it.
05:52It's how I forgive myself for what I've done.
05:55Number 25.
05:56Family Guy is in a Multiverse
05:58Thanks to the first episode of the eighth season,
06:00we already know it's confirmed that other universes exist within the show.
06:04Each of these alternate universes, the reality is different than our own.
06:07Sometimes only slightly, sometimes quite radically.
06:10The point is, every possible eventuality exists.
06:13But what if the sitcom itself was a multiverse?
06:16It makes sense when you consider the inconsistencies in the plot,
06:19particularly when it comes to how Peter makes money, his heritage, or how he and Lois met.
06:24My name is Powell, I have a Peter for you.
06:27My name is Peter, and I'll be your nipples.
06:29Powell boy!
06:30Oh, jeez.
06:31It changes so often that it almost makes more sense that each episode is merely a microcosm of a specific world,
06:37and that the viewer gets sent to the next one once the credits roll.
06:41Reddit user you slash fazepoopy takes it a step further by suggesting that these universes are all connected through a Peter Griffin hive mind,
06:48which is why his lore in particular is disjointed.
06:51Dad, I don't want to do this!
06:52You have to!
06:53Next week we're buying a zebra!
06:55Dad!
06:56There's no time to argue!
06:57We got 150 seconds before the police respond to the silent alarm!
07:00Number 24.
07:01The characters changed because of collective trauma.
07:04This, being accurate, could permanently paint the show in a much darker light.
07:08According to a very in-depth theory crafted by the aptly named You slash Dark Rabbit 713,
07:13the reason the whole neighborhood changes so severely around the midpoint of the series
07:17is that they have all been deeply affected by events in their lives.
07:21Goodbye, fellas!
07:26Whether it's Joe's injuries, Quagmire's family woes, or several citizens of their town perishing,
07:31the residents of Spooner Street have been through a lot.
07:34What happened?
07:35Oh, Glenn! Oh, thank God you're alright!
07:38Hey! You touching my girl?
07:39Relax, Jeff. That's her brother.
07:41Yeah, that's how it starts!
07:42This would explain why they constantly lash out at one another,
07:45have dark ideations, or are glib about their issues.
07:49It's been found that trauma alters the brain and various personality traits,
07:53which unfortunately tracks when looking at where some of the characters are now.
07:57Lois, I'm good. I don't want to get hooked on those things.
08:00Who wants to go for a ride in the car?
08:03Number 23.
08:04Susie Swanson is controlled by Avery Bullock.
08:07Have you ever wondered why Joe and Bonnie's baby has the inner voice of the Langley Falls CIA director?
08:11A human centipede? How ghastly!
08:15Some might say it's just for comedic effect, but U slash T-Cromps has another idea.
08:20They pointed out that in American Dad, the agents have access to technology that allows them to put themselves into a fictional avatar.
08:27In that episode, we see Bullock put himself into the position of a baby about to eat.
08:32That makes it likely that he would do the same just to get a chance to get close to Bonnie.
08:36Another feeding? My, you have quite the appetite.
08:41This would also explain why she was able to beat up Stewie, because she was being controlled by a grown man the whole time.
08:48All right, let's try that one again.
08:50Number 22.
08:53Seth MacFarlane has feelings for Alex Borstein.
08:56Simply a coincidence or proof of someone playing the long game?
09:00Redditor U slash TheZeroCrat opts for the latter, with their theory that the relationships on the show are the result of Seth MacFarlane's 20-plus-year crush on his co-star Alex Borstein.
09:09If you're willing to forget all about this, I'm more than happy to continue hiding my true feelings.
09:15I do miss us hanging out together. Sorry I kind of went a little crazy.
09:20Ah, that's all right. And I'm sorry I will always love your wife. Which I don't.
09:26Thank you, Glenn.
09:27Besides the fact that Peter and Lois are married, there are multiple moments where Brian or Quagmire confess their lust and deeper emotions for her.
09:34I want Lois. She's perfect. I've loved her for years.
09:38Considering how close the former sounds to Seth's actual voice, it makes those moments seem all the more real and intentional.
09:46What are you doing?
09:47I can't help myself, Lois. I know you're married to Peter, but I love you and I can't stand it anymore.
09:51Number 21.
09:52Stewie's modeling career pays for Peter's shenanigans.
09:55From the very beginning of the series, the Griffin family patriarch has managed to bankroll some truly crazy things,
10:01such as a collection of odd vehicles and random additions to the exterior and interior of his home.
10:06How does he pull this off without bankrupting his family?
10:09I could be in that New York-style magazine kiosk.
10:13Peter, this all looks very expensive.
10:15Yes, you might say it was shockingly expensive.
10:19One Reddit user suggests that he uses the funds made by Stewie when he modeled for Calvin Klein back in Season 2.
10:25It had been a huge spot, meaning a large paycheck and royalties to go with it.
10:29I'm going to sex you up so crazy.
10:32Yeah, you're loving this, aren't you?
10:35With Stewie being a minor, the funds would most likely go to his parents, giving Peter free reign over them.
10:41If that's the case, we hope Lois has some set aside for when Stewie eventually grows up.
10:46Sorry I put you in a dress, Stewie. We needed a damsel.
10:49Hey, do I look upset?
10:51What do we got today?
10:52Looks like a Donkey Kong house.
10:54Ah, what a mess.
10:55Number 20.
10:57The Griffins are in hell or purgatory.
10:59Could the Griffins actually be dead and are paying the price for the things they did when they were alive?
11:04Stewie, you got my text.
11:07Yeah, didn't so much get them as was panic startled awake by them.
11:11There are a lot of juxtapositions within the main characters on the show,
11:14with a baby who is a mad scientist, a pretentious scholar stuck in a dog's body, and an heiress turned housewife.
11:20It seems as though they're being tortured by not being able to be their true selves,
11:24or maybe they're being given a chance to redeem themselves from their past sins.
11:28In this case, maybe they're in purgatory, which is why Stewie has become a better person while Lois has become worse.
11:35Watching the show given this perspective definitely gives it an interesting twist.
11:39Meg, listen to the lies.
11:41Nobody died.
11:42An aunt of your father's or mine is very ill.
11:45Number 19.
11:46Stewie de-ages everyone.
11:48Stewie is an eternal infant, and he certainly is a remarkable one.
11:52Maybe he has the intellect of an adult because he really is one, using his advanced brain to de-age himself and his loved ones.
12:00Stewie, I'm serious. Messing around with your DNA could have dire consequences.
12:04Haven't you ever seen the movie Splice?
12:06He didn't want to see his best friend Brian grow old and die long before him.
12:10Stewie wanted to go back to a time when he and Brian could continue their crazy adventures.
12:14To recreate this time, he de-aged his family, except for Lois, since we know he doesn't care about her.
12:20He de-aged himself into an even younger baby in one of the episodes already.
12:25Clearly, he has the know-how for this.
12:27So, maybe this theory has some traction.
12:29Doggy. Big doggy.
12:32That's right. The big doggy.
12:34Number 18.
12:35Stan Smith is related to Quagmire.
12:38In addition to Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane is a creator of American Dad.
12:42There have been a few crossovers with plots and characters on both shows throughout the years.
12:46Looter!
12:47Self-defense!
12:48A black and a white talking as if it's normal!
12:51Some viewers have speculated that American Dad's protagonist, Stan Smith,
12:55could be related to Peter Griffin's neighbor and best friend, Glenn Quagmire.
12:59There is a striking resemblance between the two, especially in the chin.
13:03While Stan has also been mistaken for Joe, his signature face shape is closer to Quagmire's.
13:08Plus, both share the same voice actor.
13:11Who knows?
13:12Maybe one of the shows will have a family reunion and our questions will be answered.
13:16I'd drop the gun if I were you, Joe!
13:18What? It's Stan!
13:20Oh, sorry. You look sort of like someone from...
13:22Anyway, I'd drop the gun if I were you!
13:23Number 17.
13:25Cleveland Jr. is Peter Griffin's biological son.
13:28Cleveland Jr. was not a significant character in the early days of Family Guy.
13:31The character has a much different look now than he did back then.
13:35Good evening, Cleveland Jr.
13:37Hello?
13:38He became a prominent character on The Cleveland Show,
13:40and his look on the new show is reminiscent of a very familiar Family Guy character.
13:45With a rounder appearance complete with a sleeker hairstyle and round glasses,
13:49Cleveland Jr. looks a lot like one of Cleveland's best friends, Peter.
13:52Since Cleveland's ex-wife and Cleveland Jr.'s mother, Loretta, had an affair with Quagmire,
13:57it's not inconceivable that she did the same with Peter.
14:00Maybe Peter's imaginary sitcom My Black Son wasn't so far from reality after all.
14:05It was dark. I don't know why he didn't just say it was him.
14:08I couldn't hear you.
14:09I was listening to music.
14:11I went to turn it down.
14:12And the next thing I know, you shot me!
14:14Number 16.
14:15Mr. Burns is Stewie grown up.
14:18This sitcom loves to poke fun at the parallels between them and The Simpsons.
14:21Eat my shorts.
14:23Eat my shorts.
14:24I love that.
14:25Is that a popular expression? Like what the deuce?
14:27Probably more popular.
14:28Seeing both shows together really highlighted the similarities and differences between them.
14:33While it's clear that Homer is like Peter and Lois is like Marge,
14:36viewers have a theory about a correspondence between Stewie and Mr. Burns.
14:40They look and sound similar and they both have a villainous streak,
14:43leading fans to believe that Mr. Burns is Stewie's alias, as well as his older self in the future.
14:49Why he needs an alias is something we would love to see explored on either of the shows.
14:54Seth MacFarlane and Matt Groening, do your worst.
14:57Uh, Smithers, why don't we leave the room and hopefully when we return, the pile of money will be gone.
15:04Number 15.
15:05None of the kids are Peters.
15:07Should this be true, he would be a very different family guy than the series suggests.
15:12Multiple moments suggest that all three kids have a different father than Peter.
15:16In Meg's case, it's revealed by Brian that her dad is Stan Thompson.
15:20Hell, if I was half the parent Brian is, I'd know that Chris's favorite ice cream is...
15:23Chocolate chip.
15:24And Stewie's favorite bedtime story is...
15:26Goodnight, moon.
15:27And Meg's real father's name is...
15:28Stan Thompson.
15:29For Chris, Lois admits that they had taken him from a Dutch family,
15:32and then it cuts to a scene where they mention him.
15:35I miss our stolen son in America.
15:38Do you think he remembers us?
15:40What and so?
15:43As for Stewie, all it takes is seeing Quest for Fur to see the similarities there.
15:48Oh, look at that.
15:49See, now I'm really starting to get suspicious.
15:51To make things even crazier, one deleted Reddit account even speculated that Chris was related to Dr. Hartman,
15:57citing similar physical traits between the two.
15:59While the proof isn't concrete, it could change everything we know about the Griffins.
16:04Number 14.
16:06There's a chemical in the water.
16:07There has been a plethora of character development throughout the show's 20-plus seasons,
16:12and it's made some viewers wonder how that happened.
16:15Back in season 5, we're shown that Lake Quahog is extremely polluted.
16:19This water feels kind of funny.
16:21Yeah, and it smells bad.
16:23Ah!
16:24Dad, look!
16:25Holy crap!
16:26So does that mean the chemicals in the water could be causing some brain damage to the residents drinking it?
16:30Peter, Lois, and Chris have become darker as characters,
16:33while Stewie has lightened up.
16:35And maybe the contaminated water has caused these dramatic character changes.
16:39Furthermore, the theory suggests that the cutaways in the show are actually the result of some chemically-induced hallucinations from the water.
16:47Maybe it's time the mayor tries to clean up the lake again.
16:49So they can just dump their waste into the lake?
16:52This can't be legal!
16:53What kind of world is this where you can't even trust the oil companies anymore?
16:57Number 13.
16:58Peter Griffin's welfare fraud allowed him to buy Quahog.
17:02It seems like there isn't much that Peter Griffin can't get away with,
17:06and no matter how ridiculous his actions, we never really see him face any consequences for them.
17:11In the pilot episode, Peter ends up in jail for welfare fraud.
17:15But dad, I thought...
17:16They're the kind of a big raise that allow me to give my kids a big allowance just for keeping their big mouths shut.
17:21Although Peter says he learned his lesson,
17:23he suggests this wouldn't be his last run-in with this type of situation.
17:27This theory states that Peter gained so much money from his welfare fraud,
17:30and possibly other types of fraud that we didn't see on the show,
17:33that he actually made enough to buy Quahog.
17:36This would explain why he can get away with anything on his home turf,
17:40including even killing people without any repercussions.
17:43Lois, I know what I did was wrong, but I only did it for you and the kids.
17:47Except for the jukebox in the bathroom.
17:49That was a gift for Peter.
17:50Number 12.
17:51Lois is leaving Peter.
17:53Lois and Peter don't exactly have a fairytale romance,
17:56but there have been endearing moments of care and affection between the two throughout the series.
18:00Oh my god, Peter, look at this.
18:02She actually wore this to an awards ceremony.
18:04Huh?
18:05Oh yeah, crazy.
18:06However, in recent seasons,
18:09Lois seems to have become increasingly unhappy with her life and marriage,
18:12while Peter has grown indifferent towards her.
18:15Lois has vivid fantasies outside of her marriage,
18:18does things to spite her husband,
18:20and has become generally unhinged lately.
18:22Fans believe this may be a sign that she's on her way out.
18:26While this may seem like it would cause a crazy shift in the dynamic of the show,
18:30they did kill off Brian at one point,
18:31so the creators clearly are not afraid to shake things up drastically.
18:35Oh, perfect.
18:36I have a dime and a penny.
18:38They're right here, in my hand, for you to take.
18:42Number 11.
18:43Brian and Stewie's time travel has affected the show.
18:46Some of the best moments on the show are the time-traveling adventures of Brian and Stewie.
18:50We've also seen them do some serious damage to their universe when their time-traveling goes awry,
18:55but is it possible they're doing more harm than we realize?
18:58Well, if you could recall exactly when you buried it, I suppose I could help you out.
19:02I remember the exact day.
19:04January 31st, 1999.
19:06Very well, follow me, Brian.
19:07Most viewers agree that the show's quality has declined over the years,
19:11and maybe that's because Stewie and Brian have gone back to try and make things better.
19:15We've seen that any time they do that,
19:17the future actually ends up worse than it was before.
19:20This may also explain some inconsistencies in the show,
19:23and maybe it's all been the result of Brian and Stewie trying to alter the future of their show.
19:28Oh, we made it.
19:30Yeah, the Super Bowl was cool, but frankly, no Tommy Brady, no Stewie likey.
19:34Number 10. Post-Cancellation Family Guy is a different universe.
19:38There's no denying that Post-Cancellation Family Guy feels a little different.
19:42The characters are meaner and flanderized beyond belief,
19:45the jokes are darker, and the storylines more bizarre and outlandish.
19:48Wait, before you kill me,
19:50can you at least give me an extra bullet so I can pretend to catch one of my teeth?
19:53But maybe there's a reason for that.
19:55Maybe it takes place in a whole different universe.
19:57Thanks to Road to the Multiverse,
19:59it's clear that multiverses do exist in the world of Family Guy.
20:02The point is, every possible eventuality exists.
20:05And that's where you got the pig in a parallel universe.
20:09Prepare yourself, Brian, and I'll show you.
20:10Maybe the family scene in Season 4 is just a wackier and meaner version of the family scene in Season 3.
20:26And maybe Brian and Stewie didn't go back in time and back to the pilot.
20:29They went to the original universe.
20:31Wait, what are they doing?
20:33I don't know, they're just standing there like zombies.
20:35Do you think they're alright?
20:37I'm not sure.
20:39And then there was that time at the ice cream store.
20:44They're doing it again, what the hell?
20:46Number 9.
20:46Joe Swanson was the tick.
20:48This theory from Reddit user MrDs444 states that Joe Swanson was, and maybe still is, the tick.
20:55Hello again!
20:58Your door is broken, the knob came off.
21:00What are you doing here?
21:02Off, man, this is incredible.
21:04It looks just like an apartment.
21:06The Tick aired on Fox between 2001 and 2002,
21:09and starred Patrick Warburton, the same man who voices Joe.
21:13The Tick shares a lot in common with Joe,
21:15including a muscular frame, a big chin, a dramatic personality,
21:19and obviously the exact same voice.
21:21Are you Timmy?
21:27Merry Christmas, Timmy.
21:29This led MrDs444 to think that they are, in fact, one and the same.
21:34Maybe Joe wasn't doling out enough justice as a cop,
21:36so he became the Tick on the side.
21:38The Tick costume may even grant the wearer superhuman abilities,
21:42as he has super strength and never gets injured.
21:45Maybe it also has the power to heal Joe's paralysis.
21:48Don't worry, you won't get far.
21:51Stop! Police!
21:56Number 8. Stewie is a former dictator.
22:00Stewie is obviously very aggressive in the early seasons,
22:03and dictatorial in his machinations.
22:05Excellent. The mind control device is nearing completion.
22:08Stewie, I said no toys at the table.
22:11Damn you, vile woman!
22:12You've impeded my work since the day I escaped from your wretched womb.
22:15The reason for this behavior could be that Stewie is a former dictator,
22:19who's either been de-aged through magic or reincarnated as a baby.
22:23Dear diary, it seems the domestic overseers are plotting against me.
22:28Their plans somehow relate to the anniversary of my escape from the womb.
22:31I'm still haunted by the memories of how I came to be incarcerated in that amniotic etiquette.
22:36This could explain why Stewie is so smart and ahead of his age,
22:39how he can talk, and why he has a British accent.
22:42All right, men. The man in white is coming to put me back in the womb.
22:46Today he comes for me, but tomorrow it could be you.
22:49Or you!
22:50Maybe he's the reincarnated spirit of Oliver Cromwell or something.
22:54It also helps explain how Stewie has calmed down throughout the seasons.
22:57As time has passed, he has forgotten his dictatorial ways and simply embraced being a child.
23:03Yes, we!
23:05We!
23:06Oh my! Oh my!
23:10Hudson, time to go!
23:12I gotta go home now.
23:13I'm glad I met you, Stewie. You're neat. Bye!
23:16Bye, Hudson!
23:17Number 7. Daboom is Canon
23:19Season 2's Daboom is obviously not canon.
23:23After all, Y2K destroys the world via a nuclear holocaust,
23:27Stewie turns into a tentacled creature,
23:29and the ending reveals that it was all a dream of Dallas' Pam Ewing.
23:33Oh, Bobby, I just had the weirdest dream.
23:35I dreamt I saw the strangest episode of Family Guy,
23:38and there was a giant chicken, and Stewie was an octopus!
23:41Hey, hey, hey, hey, come on now.
23:44It's alright, everything's gonna be okay.
23:49What's Family Guy?
23:51But what if it is?
23:52What if Daboom was the official ending of the Family Guy story,
23:55and all the following episodes are just delusions concocted by the traumatized family?
23:59Peter, we've gotta find some food.
24:01Oh my God!
24:02Look!
24:04It's Nadek!
24:06Yeah!
24:07This could explain the show's declining quality and wildly different tone,
24:13as the characters are slowly losing sight of their past realities
24:16and veering further and further into imagination.
24:19But when I saw the movie,
24:21it looked like Audrey Hepburn not only didn't have breakfast at Tiffany's,
24:25she hadn't eaten anything in a year!
24:28It could also help explain why the characters never age.
24:32Talk about depressing.
24:34Number 6.
24:35Family Guy is a fictional show within the American Dad universe.
24:38There's a reason Family Guy is so outlandish.
24:41It's a fictional TV show.
24:43Well, yeah, but we mean it's a fictional TV show within a fictional TV show.
24:47There are a few hints scattered across the series.
24:50The obvious one is the episode Inside Family Guy,
24:53which takes the form of a behind-the-scenes featurette about the making of the show.
24:56Well, it's certainly not easy being a family that also happens to star in a sitcom together.
25:01There's also the fact that Brian and Stewie travel back to the pilot
25:04and comment on its crude animation quality.
25:07Ew, I remember this.
25:08Peter's eye did that weird creepy thing where it went over his nose.
25:12Come on, you're worrying about nothing.
25:14Oh?
25:14Remember when you got drunk off the communion wine at church?
25:17Ah, ew, gross. Look at that.
25:19Not to mention, Stan specifically mentions Brian in American Dad,
25:23calling him his number one favorite fictional dog.
25:25Three, Old Yeller.
25:31Two, Lassie.
25:33And the number one dog on my fictitious dog list is Brian Griffin.
25:37Uh, do I know you?
25:39So, is Family Guy a fictional show within the American Dad universe?
25:43All signs point to yes.
25:45Number five, we see through the eyes of Stewie.
25:48It's easy to do the whole,
25:49this show takes place within a character's head theory,
25:52but this one actually has some merit.
25:53The theory posits that the events of Family Guy are merely Stewie's perception of the world.
25:58Peter and Chris act goofy and childish towards Stewie,
26:01so Stewie thinks they're stupid buffoons.
26:03Hey, Stewie. Nice sunburn.
26:05God, you hoses ass!
26:07Lois is the strict disciplinarian,
26:09so Stewie sees her as shrewd and humorless.
26:11Oh my God, look at Stewie!
26:13Peter, you took him out without any sunscreen?
26:16Maybe.
26:16You know the sun is dangerous for a baby's skin?
26:19Meg is an older teenager and often fights with her parents,
26:22so Stewie thinks they all hate and abuse her.
26:24My God, you're condescending!
26:26I'm making a legitimate point about how poorly this family treats me.
26:30Brian, you can't say this family doesn't treat me like crap.
26:32And Brian doesn't actually talk.
26:35That would be ridiculous.
26:36No, his barks and whimpers are simply constructed as human speech in Stewie's mind,
26:41just like his nonsensical baby noises.
26:43Some friends become enemies?
26:44Some enemies become friends?
26:46Yeah?
26:47At the end, your main character is richer for the experience?
26:50Yeah?
26:50Yeah?
26:51Yeah?
26:52You could, no, no, you deserve some time off.
26:54Number four.
26:55Meg is Stewie's biological mother.
26:57One popular theory floating around the internet
26:59is that Meg is actually Stewie's biological mother.
27:02I am not letting you out of my sight again.
27:05According to the theory,
27:06Meg became pregnant at a very young age
27:08after sleeping with an ex-boyfriend,
27:10and both Lois and Brian helped cover up the pregnancy.
27:13Welcome to Flappy's.
27:14Why don't you have a seat next to my little baby
27:16whose deadbeat dad doesn't pay child support?
27:19Ha!
27:19Why?
27:20We don't know.
27:21Maybe to spare Meg the embarrassment and shame?
27:23Being a single mother is hard,
27:25but the real challenge is having a baby that's addicted to crack.
27:28Right, Stewie?
27:29Or to spare Meg's boyfriend,
27:30who would have been subjected to Peter's wrath?
27:32This theory is seemingly legitimized in partial terms of endearment
27:36when Lois outright states that Meg gave birth to Stewie.
27:39This kind of crude joke should have elicited a response from Meg,
27:42but she doesn't say anything about it.
27:44Could this be because Lois was actually telling the truth?
27:47Oh, come on, Meg.
27:48It was hard enough on your body when you gave birth to Stewie.
27:51What?
27:52Oh, ha ha ha.
27:53I'm just joking.
27:55Oh, not cool.
27:57Number three.
27:58Brian writes family guy.
27:59We all know that Brian's a writer.
28:01This is why nobody bought my damn book.
28:03You know, this is what they want.
28:04The secret.
28:05Chicken soup for the soul.
28:06The purpose-driven life.
28:08I tell you, I could crap one of those things out in a night.
28:10So what if he writes family guy as an exaggerated version of his real family?
28:15This could help explain the rampant flanderization and general wackiness.
28:18He began writing relatively down-to-earth stories,
28:21but when these didn't sell,
28:23he made them more exaggerated and outlandish to help encourage sales.
28:26Yeah, we're walking in now.
28:27Make sure Tom Tucker knows he has 20 minutes and he is to only talk about the book.
28:31No personal questions.
28:32It's also possible that his increased alcoholism has turned him into a sloppy writer,
28:36turning a once-good story into the mess it is now.
28:40Well, that's it.
28:41No more.
28:41I'm done writing.
28:43What?
28:43Writing is the only thing that's giving your alcoholism any credibility.
28:46This also explains why Brian and Stewie are often given their own episodes.
28:50He's actually lived these adventures firsthand
28:52and has more detail to draw on and exaggerate.
28:56Number two.
28:56Brian's Brain
28:58Have you ever wondered why Brian doesn't really act like a dog?
29:01According to this theory,
29:02it's because he's a human trapped inside a dog.
29:05Excedrin headache number one.
29:07Puppy mill.
29:08Ah, damn.
29:10Hey, does anyone here have thumbs?
29:12Well, a human brain inside a dog's body anyway.
29:14In American Dad,
29:16Klaus is a German ski jumper
29:17whose brain was implanted into a goldfish by the CIA.
29:20I'm recalling how the CIA kidnapped him
29:23and switched his mind with a goldfish.
29:25If these two shows share the same universe,
29:38it's entirely possible that the exact same thing happened to Brian.
29:41This could explain how he can talk and write,
29:44why he was the only puppy from his litter to act like a person,
29:46and how he's able to have a 13-year-old human son.
29:50Brian, this is Dylan.
29:52He's your son.
29:55Oh, no way!
29:57Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!

30:14Number one.
30:16Peter's Heightened Reality
30:17Reddit user bblank0308 came up with a very compelling theory.
30:22Unfortunately, it is completely and totally depressing.
30:25Bear with us.
30:26One night, Meg and Chris both died in a drunk driving accident
30:30after coming home from a school party.
30:37Lois then took her own life out of grief.
30:39Well, there is one thing we could do.
30:42What? What's that?
30:43We could go out on our own terms.
30:46Driven to insanity,
30:47Peter created the heightened reality of Family Guy within his head.
30:50I'm a tumor. I'm a tumor.
30:51I'm a tumor. I'm a tumor. I'm a tumor. I'm a tumor.
30:54I'm a tumor. I'm a tumor. I'm a tumor.
30:56Meg is treated poorly because he still resents her
30:58for driving drunk and crashing the car.
31:00He also makes Stewie highly intelligent
31:02as he likes to believe that his unborn son had great potential.
31:05And he makes Stewie hate Lois because she took his life.
31:09You drove me here, Lois,
31:10with all the indignities I've been forced to suffer
31:12day in and day out under your matriarchal tyranny.
31:14Finally, a combination of insanity and extreme guilt
31:18caused Peter to mentally regress into the man-child he is today.
31:22Ho-ho. Eggs.
31:23Who came first? The chicken or the porn star?
31:24Ho-ho. The porn identity.
31:25Who am I?
31:26Oh, yeah. The pizza man.
31:27Baka-chaka-bow-wow.
31:29Ho-ho. Ho-ho.
31:30Peter, can you pass the coffee?
31:31Sure.
31:32Which fan theory made your mind go kablooey?
31:34Let us know in the comments below.
31:36Lois told me there was some funny business.
31:38Yeah, what of it?
31:39Well, it's just...
31:40I can't help but feel a little betrayed, Brian.
31:42Lois is my wife.
