00:00Hello and welcome to this national Janesweather update for Friday.
00:04Have you a look at what we've got.
00:05We've got a severe weather warning for damaging winds that's only up in the Alpine areas.
00:09Otherwise, nothing much to worry about.
00:11There is a trough that is going to be moving across the southeast today.
00:14First of all, the remains of a cold front and another trough that is producing this band of rain moving through.
00:20Showers and thunderstorms are going to follow with that one.
00:22But if you're interested in the AFL Grand Final, it will clear Saturday is looking pretty good.
00:27And there's this cloud out ahead of it, starts right over in the west and sweeps right on through.
00:32That's just high cloud.
00:33It's not doing anything.
00:35If you see these radar echoes and there's no cloud, that means it's just an echo that is faulty and is not actually doing anything.
00:41OK, let's have a look at day by day what to expect.
00:45Tasmania getting a lot of the action still over the next week.
00:48You'll see it day by day here.
00:50Victoria picking up as well.
00:51Otherwise, it is fairly quiet.
00:52Now, over in the west, we have had the cool change move through after a week of exceptionally warm weather.
00:58And so that change is now here and it's here by the end of the day.
01:02So it's the trough with the showers and storms coming in.
01:04It's southern parts of Victoria and across Tasmania as well, hardly even reaching South Australia.
01:09Otherwise, it is all fairly clear.
01:11That's Friday.
01:12Let's go into Saturday.
01:13That clears out of here for the AFL Grand Final.
01:16It is actually dry.
01:17We've got the trough that is running in through there, not producing anything.
01:20Our eyes turn to the northeast here.
01:22There is a lot of activity that will be off the coast.
01:25It's just brushing us here.
01:27Nothing to worry about there.
01:28It is all offshore.
01:30Otherwise, high pressure is ridging in through here.
01:32So Tasmania, particularly in the west, is copping it.
01:35Let's watch the next system come through.
01:37So as we go into Sunday, here it is building.
01:39It reaches the southwest.
01:40So we'll get a little bit of a cold outbreak and some wet weather with that.
01:43It is nothing serious.
01:45Let's watch that move through.
01:46So that's by the end of Sunday.
01:48Again, this is all offshore.
01:49It's only a very coastal fringe thing and it's very light there.
01:53Here's the end of Sunday.
01:54Monday, this is starting to move across the southeast.
01:57Really didn't affect the southwest much.
01:59And this is now moving away.
02:00So here's Monday into Tuesday.
02:03So we'll get some big falls with that.
02:05That is, again, southern parts of Victoria and across Tasmania and moving into the southeast and parts of South Australia.
02:11There's Tuesday.
02:12Let's watch the next one come in.
02:13So by the end of Wednesday, here it is, moving across the southeast.
02:17Again, hitting Tasmania into there across the southeast on Thursday and then the remains of that into Friday.
02:23Now, there may be a little connection to tropical moisture.
02:26It's not a big one.
02:27I'm going back in time here.
02:28So here's Wednesday.
02:29We're just starting to see a little bit of this here.
02:31Again, it's nothing significant.
02:33There may be a thunderstorm in there.
02:34If you're directly underneath them, yes, you would see a big fall.
02:36But it's nothing widespread.
02:38This here is a patchy band of rain with no huge falls in it at this stage.
02:43Most of the activity is down in the south.
02:45Then heading into next Friday.
02:46There it is, just the remains of that moving through the east.
02:49What is that going to add up to if you're in Tasmania?
02:52Huge falls over the next week with cold front after cold front and then two big weather systems coming through.
02:58That also means for the southern parts of Victoria, going to do quite well.
03:0125 to 50 millimetres across a large part there.
03:04But it does decrease as you head inland.
03:0625 to 50 in the southeastern parts of South Australia.
03:09But see how this is offshore.
03:11We'll have a lot of cloud from that.
03:12There's a lot of wet weather off the coast, but it's really not reaching here.
03:16And these are light falls as it comes through.
03:19In the southwest, maybe 5 to 10 millimetres at that southwestern coast.
03:22As that sister arrives on Sunday.
03:25That's it from me.
03:26As always, head to Farm Online Weather for the latest.
