00:01Good afternoon, Sadler's fans. I'm outside Essington, where I've just spoke to Matt Sadler and Vincent Harper,
00:07ahead of Walsall's League 2 trip to Accrington-Stanley on Saturday.
00:12And we'll start with the team news, and Jamie Jealous has trained all week, and Matt Sadler said he's fighting to be involved.
00:20You know, did mention the fact that there's extreme competition for places now, with Ryan Finnegan filling in expertly in his absence on that right side of midfield.
00:29But, yeah, likely to be in contention for this weekend, obviously. Harry Williams and Mason Hancock are the only long-term absentees.
00:40We also spoke about Gary Wadduk, who this will be his final game for a number of months.
00:45He's undergoing ankle surgery, a problem he's been struggling with for a little while now.
00:51And, yeah, he will obviously step aside for a period of time after the game against Accrington on the weekend.
00:59And Ben Sadler mentioned in his recent update on the club's website that the club will be looking into the possibility of appointing an interim manager.
01:07And Matt Sadler sort of echoed that, really.
01:09So conversations have been had with a number of people, and they're just kind of weighing up what to do next.
01:15So that's pretty much the latest on that one.
01:21We spoke about Aidan Flint and his tremendous form.
01:25Matt Sadler, pleased with the depth that he's got in his squad at the moment.
01:28And, yeah, also had a conversation about Jake Holman and Rona Mayer and the fact that limited minutes for them, not really been involved in the league.
01:38Rona Mayer, not at all in the league squad.
01:41But, of course, we've got the upcoming EFL trophy game, which will provide them with rare minutes and opportunity to get some minutes in their legs, ultimately.
01:51But Matt Sadler said, you know, with Jake Holman, it's a case of patience and the club are willing to give him that time to transition, to adapt to life in England.
02:03And with Rona Mayer, you know, he said minutes will be key.
02:06And whether that's something he can achieve with the club or whether they might need to consider another loan, he said that's a decision they'll need to weigh up.
02:14So, yeah, not really a great deal of clarity on that one at the moment.
02:18And then we spoke about Daniel Carnot and, obviously, Walsall have been stung by a January recall with Freddie Draper and Nathan Lowe.
02:26And, obviously, even before Matt Sadler's reign with Danny Johnson during Michael Flynn's time in charge.
02:32And Sadler said, you know, it is the nature of the beast.
02:34He did say, though, you know, the fact that Charlton, he played for Charlton earlier in the season.
02:40So, that means that Charlton are the only club that he can play for, essentially.
02:44So, in that respect, you know, it does probably safeguard Walsall.
02:49So, you know, if he was to be recalled, it would be a case of him coming back into Charlton's squad.
02:55So, hopefully, it would be a case of Walsall being able to continue to develop with him and him leading the line.
03:00Because he's been in tremendous form, three goals in as many games.
03:03And he just looks to be going from strength to strength and building a really strong partnership with Aaron Presley.
03:08So, yeah, that's pretty much the latest from today's conversation.
03:13And there'll be plenty of reaction on the Express and Star ahead of the game.
03:17I will be signing it up in Menorca, actually, this weekend.
03:21So, yeah, avoided the trip to Accrington.
03:24And my colleague, Lewis Cox, will be there, though, to keep you updated and provide all the coverage over the weekend.
