00:00Previously on the block, it's our final week inside of house.
00:04This is the hardest week I've ever had on the block. I'm not joking.
00:08Architectural plans were changed.
00:09We've taken a little bit of the powder room so that way we can have a mini euro laundry.
00:15Make us stand out from the rest.
00:17And emotions were strained.
00:19I'm trying to organise plasterboard to go on candidates.
00:22What?
00:22Don't worry, don't worry.
00:23What do you need to ask me about here?
00:25What's going on?
00:27What's not going on?
00:28One team is already flying high.
00:32Yes, let's go.
00:34Hey, waterproof Monday, let's get it.
00:36Block first.
00:37Yeah.
00:38Waterproof Monday.
00:39Tonight, past decisions return to bite.
00:42You can't have a dip in your waterproof.
00:45Alright, not at all.
00:46No.
00:46This should have been picked up yesterday when I mentioned it to the boys.
00:49Ba-bom.
00:51There was 12.
00:52Hey.
00:52Shannon, wrong screws, bud.
00:55We need to be toiling now.
00:56Leading to a call for more work hours.
01:00Do you want to see if we can get extended hours?
01:01Yes, let's do it.
01:02Yeah?
01:03Body corp.
01:04I don't want to do extended hours.
01:05You're saying no again?
01:07I'm saying no again.
01:08I haven't won a room yet.
01:09There's one more room to win.
01:10If four of yous don't finish, I might finally win one.
01:12That's as simple as it is.
01:15All good.
01:15And that simple gameplay jibe leads to a very awkward dinner vibe.
01:20I knew it was going to be awkward 100%.
01:22Duh.
01:27Oh.
01:28Oh.
01:29Oh.
01:29You can take it, leave it.
01:31Think I'm an arsehole.
01:33Banana.
01:33It's early Tuesday morning here at the block Dalesford, which means there's six days left
01:58for our teams to finish off their five remaining rooms inside our five brand new house fields
02:04this week.
02:06Morning, everyone.
02:08Bins.
02:09Can we keep filling up bins?
02:12Keep the site as clean as possible?
02:13Yeah, so house five, we've got soil going in and out.
02:15And Phil's pouring the pickled court.
02:19I have no idea what that is.
02:21P-I-C-K-L-E-D.
02:22Anyway, have a nice day.
02:30Be nice to each other.
02:31Enjoy.
02:33This week we're doing the whole back of house, which is crazy.
02:36So we have a pantry.
02:38Laundry.
02:39The mudroom.
02:40Garage.
02:41Powder room.
02:42Powder room.
02:45Five rooms.
02:46Five rooms.
02:47I suppose this is a difficult one.
02:49There's lots of inspections and if things aren't done right then it needs to be ripped
02:52out and done again.
02:53There's 18 inspections that need to happen over these five rooms.
02:56It's just, it's overwhelming.
03:01Absolutely buggered.
03:03I'm like, yeah, it was up to one.
03:05Cairn's off to Dandong to get everyone's tiles in the Kersio's truck, so.
03:10Yep, that's right.
03:11Cairn from house two has plans to drive this truck, which is owned by these cloaks, who work
03:18for these guys in house four to drive a five-hour round trip from Dalesford to Dandenong South
03:24to pick up tiles for houses one, two and five.
03:27And apparently this wacky plan was all set in motion just yesterday.
03:32They will have them ready between 8.30 and 9 for me.
03:35Okay.
03:36Delivery cannot happen until Wednesday, so if we need them we have to go out and get them.
03:41Why am I picking up everyone's tiles tomorrow?
03:45Because I am a lovely, giving, courteous, courageous human who just wants everyone to get what they
03:58need.
03:59No one else is willing to go.
04:00I will go to Dandenong South in the Kersio's truck and I will pick up the tiles.
04:05I'm proud of you for always going out of your way to help others.
04:08That's why I love you.
04:09And I'm proud of you.
04:11And I'm proud to the block and everyone for putting up with our bull crap.
04:16Alright, Ken, here's the keys.
04:18Beauty.
04:19Show you the ropes.
04:21There are ropes in there, by the way.
04:22This is the lever you need to not use today because we're not tipping anything off.
04:26I love trucks.
04:27I love adventures.
04:28I love driving.
04:32I just don't love driving for five hours on a bumpy road in a bumpy truck.
04:40I hope she's going to be alright.
04:42She'll be fine.
04:43She'll be fine.
04:44How good are the Kersios?
04:45Listen, the Kersios you think may just be, you know, our tilers and they come in here and
04:50they tile a room and they have some jokes and, you know, we all have a laugh.
04:53But honestly, they're all just such an extended part of us and our family now, I think.
05:00Yeah, 100%.
05:01We just have so much love and appreciation for those brothers.
05:04As do I and everyone here at the block because the Kersios boys have been a big part of the
05:09block family since way back in 2019.
05:13Known for their outstanding tiling ability.
05:15Couldn't have done it without you.
05:16The Kersios are also well known for bringing lots of positive energy wherever they turn
05:22up.
05:23And this morning, Foreman Dan has just rolled into House 4 to inspect some of the Kersios'
05:28handiwork.
05:29Sonny.
05:30Oh, you're here, mate.
05:30Good.
05:31Let's get this inspection done.
05:33Sweet.
05:33It's before they rock up so I don't get held up.
05:37They've done a good job though, haven't they?
05:38They always do, mate.
05:39Yeah.
05:41For their laundry slash pantry this week, Sonny and Alicia are keeping things simple
05:45in their walkway with some cheeky hangers, plenty of cupboard space, a drawing cupboard
05:50and tucked away around the corner, laundry on the left, pantry on the right and double
05:55sinks to handle both washing up and laundry duties.
05:59Nice, neat job.
06:01Sweet.
06:02Beautiful.
06:02Let them start tolling, mate, as soon as they rock up.
06:04Adrian has got us to Waterproof Monday, you know, but that's not just the Kersios, that's
06:11also our chippies.
06:12Like, we're trying to foster a family vibe in our house.
06:16Yeah, it's a really cohesive team.
06:17Everyone gets along and has a laugh.
06:18I don't know what happens in other houses, but, like, we're pissing ourselves laughing most
06:21of the time.
06:22Mm.
06:25Everyone besides House 4 is in the same boat.
06:27It's easy when you've got four extra contestants in your room.
06:32The Kersios.
06:33The Kersios is unbelievable.
06:34They know that back to the front, they know it backwards and front, they're...
06:38Backwards and front?
06:39They know the game back to the front?
06:41They know the...
06:42Yeah.
06:42That one?
06:43Yeah, they're really good.
06:45I think it's the overall message.
06:47Britt and Taz are going all out in their back of house this week, creating an epic walkthrough
06:53butler's pantry that would be the envy of most city flats.
06:56Around the corner, they'll have a standalone laundry with a commercial-sized washer and
07:02tumble dryer.
07:03Are we ready?
07:05I don't know.
07:05I think so.
07:06I think so?
07:07Too messy.
07:08There was...
07:08The screws weren't done, so we've done all this.
07:10Where's Colby?
07:11He's just going to get a drink.
07:17Hang on.
07:18Was the Inso King not doing the greatest of work?
07:20No.
07:21The Inso King was just delegating a bit of work and when other people take over insulation
07:26could be it.
07:27Issues get raised.
07:29Was it their work or was it your insulation?
07:31I think it was yours.
07:32Team.
07:35Week nine, we should be passing first go.
07:38There was a couple of frame checks that weren't fully right.
07:42It's all a bit out.
07:43But Dan's level's broken anyway, so he's just making it up as he goes.
07:50Let's fix it.
07:50Yeah.
07:51Let's get a plum.
07:53He doesn't know what plum is or square is.
07:55What triangle is.
07:57Get the laser on it.
07:58Could be a level.
08:00These guys are already behind the eight ball again.
08:03They had a shocking week last week and already is becoming a bad week.
08:07I'll be having words with Dan because, yeah, he's getting away with far too much at the
08:11moment.
08:11Oh, you love Dan too much.
08:13Who?
08:13You.
08:14I do love Dan.
08:16He'll buy me dinner next week.
08:17Is he?
08:18Yeah.
08:21So we have changed the layout for our butlers.
08:24Originally, that was meant to be butlers' laundry in one room.
08:29So we have taken a little bit of that space on your entrance into the butlers to put in
08:35this little separate standalone laundry, which will make us stand out from the rest.
08:40Robbie and Matt have decided to make use of what was almost a wasted hallway space by
08:45adding in a convenient European-style laundry, tucked away neatly out of sight with a couple
08:50of bi-fold doors.
08:52We thought, why would you want to be having all your chemicals from your laundry powder
08:57and stuff where you're preparing your food?
08:58We were like, that's not for us.
09:01Art, there's a problem.
09:02This is going to hold us up for waterproofing, actually.
09:07So, Matt, I've just gone into your laundry.
09:09Yeah.
09:09Are you aware we've got to put some self-leveller down?
09:11No.
09:12So we've got to put some self-leveller down to get it back up level with the screed.
09:15Yeah.
09:16Because it's where we've moved the laundry to.
09:17We've got to let that dry for about four or five hours.
09:20So we've got to get two coats of waterproofing down, let that dry.
09:22Then we've got a tile.
09:23Yeah.
09:24Let that dry, then Freedom Cabinets.
09:26Yeah.
09:26All in a day.
09:28So we're going to get started, Dad.
09:33We're supposed to be waterproofing by now.
09:35How's he going to do his tiles?
09:37I don't know.
09:38I'm doing all I can, but I'm one person.
09:42Ah!
09:44Ah!
09:47It's week nine here at the block, Dalesford, which means we're now three-quarters of the
09:58way through the season.
09:59And at this point of the competition, it's very much a case of the haves and the have-nots.
10:10Over in house four, Sunny and Alicia are very much in the have-not category, since they
10:16have not won a room.
10:17We haven't won a room.
10:20Yeah.
10:21There's one room left inside the house to win.
10:25Yeah.
10:25We're doing everything to win it while we're here.
10:27We haven't had a room win.
10:30Unfortunately, we were bridesmaids in a two-horse race.
10:33We were bridesmaids to the bridesmaids.
10:36Ah, yes.
10:36Our perennial bridesmaids, Emma and Ben, who have come second a whopping four times this
10:41season.
10:42Not only took out their first win last week with their guest sweep, it's Emma and Ben.
10:48But also with two 10 out of 10 scores along the way.
10:53And when you couple that with their 50 grand Domain Buyer's jury win.
10:5923?
11:0023?
11:0023?
11:01Oh!
11:02Oh!
11:03Oh!
11:04Oh!
11:05Ben and house one!
11:06Oh!
11:07Emma and Ben are now flying high, literally, with 80 grand in their sky rocket.
11:14Now this week...
11:15This is the last room left to win in the house.
11:19So we want to win.
11:20Three of the houses didn't complete a two-room week, and now we have five rooms to do.
11:25So, I mean, this is ours to lose, really, this week.
11:30Ah!
11:31Sonny, mate!
11:32Hi, mate.
11:33Hi, buddy.
11:34Good.
11:35You have won the Bunnings Hardest Worker Nursery Award.
11:37Oh, how good?
11:38Yes, because you're waterproofing on Monday.
11:40Is that right?
11:41Yeah, we waterproofed on Monday.
11:42That's unbelievable.
11:43Yeah.
11:44I think we pride ourselves on time management.
11:46Every time that we've been asked to be ready for the kitchen install or some type of install,
11:51we've always made sure that...
11:52We're the only house who's hit those targets every time.
11:55Every time.
11:56Fantastic, mate.
11:57So you can choose five trees that are my height.
12:01Your height.
12:02The olive tree.
12:03Beautiful.
12:04The olives, or maybe the magnolias.
12:06Awesome.
12:08Whatever you want.
12:09You choose it, mate.
12:10All yours.
12:11See you, buddy.
12:12I'd better find out where we go choose.
12:15And while Sonny picks his plants, it's time for yours truly to fly back to Mount Williams
12:22Station for a late brekkie with our reigning room champions Emma and Ben.
12:25Thanks, buddy.
12:26How are you?
12:27Good, thanks.
12:28Did you sleep well?
12:29Oh, best sleep yet.
12:30Best sleep in eight weeks.
12:32Oh, look at that.
12:35Thank you very much.
12:37Richard.
12:38Richard.
12:39Bring the chopper around.
12:40Build the pot in half an hour.
12:42And we're gone.
12:43Back to sight.
12:44So long as we've been away from the block in eight weeks, so it's a little bit scary, but
12:49we've got a really good team working here, so we knew everything was in good hands.
13:07The pantry has been plastered and inspected, I think.
13:11Has it been inspected?
13:12Yeah.
13:13It has been inspected.
13:14Waterproofers are here, ready to go.
13:16And we're working on the mudroom as well.
13:18So it's looking great.
13:20In their mudroom, Emma and Ben will have a built-in banquette seat, with cushions,
13:26herringbone tiles, and plenty of storage cabinets.
13:29Out the back in their butler's pantry and laundry, they're adding in walnut cabinets,
13:34contrasting large format tiles and bench tops, an integrated washer and dryer, and plenty
13:40of shelving.
13:41But their back of house rooms aren't the only thing on Ben's mind today.
13:45Yeah.
13:46The wine cellar will just sit in between all these piers.
13:49Emma and Ben's new wine cellar project will be integrated underneath the rumpus room area
13:54of the house, and is set to add plenty of extra value to their home build.
13:59We met with Aidan, the builder, yesterday, and we confirmed we just want to do the one
14:03room based on what the price of them were going to cost.
14:06Yeah, starting to think ahead for fitting it out, which is cool.
14:09I'm in contact with some wine makers, and I'm going to try and score some gear and, yeah,
14:15help deck it out.
14:17So the back of the house, we've got a lot going on.
14:19We've got three different areas that needs all sorts of different inspections.
14:24So we've got the framing inspection, we've got insulation inspection, then we've got our
14:29three waterproofing inspections for two separate rooms.
14:31So all up, there's 18 inspections this week.
14:34The worst thing about this, we've got to be ready tomorrow morning for freedom to start
14:39installing cabinets.
14:40So much pressure on the contestants and their trays to get this right because there's so
14:44many inspections.
14:45If one thing goes wrong, it can snowball along.
14:47Already we've picked up a little doozy here in house two.
14:51Yeah, well, it was supposed to be waterproofing by now.
14:58Sheets aren't even on.
15:00There's an issue with the wall.
15:02How's he going to do his tiles?
15:05I don't know.
15:08We didn't redesign the room.
15:11So Ken and I have changed the layout of the laundry butler's powder room.
15:17Han and Ken have separated their butler's pantry and laundry and have created a kitchenette
15:22to cover some pipework.
15:23But to accommodate the extra length of said kitchenette, this wall has now been extended,
15:29which has created their current problem.
15:31The wet room floor needs to slope towards the wastewater drain here, but currently there's
15:37a gap between their true core steel wall frame and their floor.
15:41I mean, if we don't want to prep today though, we're not going to have tiles.
15:45So, we need to be toiling now.
15:47So, yeah.
15:50The chance of getting our cabinetry in is diminishing by the minute.
15:55It's just, it's a lot.
15:57Um, I just, I'm doing all I can, but I'm one person.
16:05It's just, I'm not.
16:06Nothing.
16:07So, how can we do that?
16:08To us?
16:09That's the one.
16:10The one on the street.
16:11It's the one on the street.
16:12The one is moving on, the one is moving on the street.
16:17To see more of The Block head online for loads of exclusive extras
16:29And follow at The Block to watch all of the behind-the-scenes action from sight
16:36It's early days here at The Block on a frenetic five-room build week but our blockheads have
16:46already been tasked with looking ahead to next week with plans for their Stratco sheds to
16:51be submitted ASAP and over at House 2 Superkeen Hand has a very grand shed plan
17:01I had the idea that obviously because we didn't have an office space in the house I was like
17:06yep it'd be really cool to do an office space in the shed so someone can work from home so
17:11I wanted to create a little kitchenette in there
17:16And how are you mate?
17:20Yeah alright
17:21So I've just got an email about your plans out here
17:25Yeah
17:26Unfortunately we can't do anything that's going to be habitable living
17:29It's not going to be habitable
17:31It is, that is habitable, what you're doing is going to be habitable because it's in
17:34Just an office studio
17:35Yeah but it's indicating someone's going to spend a lot of time out there in an office
17:39working which you can't do that
17:41Unfortunately for Hand because the concrete slabs under these sheds aren't insulated they
17:46can't be classed as a habitable space
17:49Right
17:51So there'll be like no office thing in there
17:55In the craziness of everything else that's going on and then being told my home office
18:03isn't a goer it's like yeah I just feel absolutely defeated
18:07Because we haven't got occupancy permit we can't indicate
18:12So I can't put a toilet in there?
18:13No
18:14At all
18:15Actually toilet I'll find out
18:19Do you think you need another toilet though?
18:20The pool house has got a toilet
18:21Yeah I don't know
18:22You're not going to come out to your shed to go to the toilet?
18:23Yeah
18:24Yeah
18:25Just you don't know how to move forward from this like
18:40Yeah um it's it was just like for us like we were you know everyone's saying everyone's
18:48got their game changer their secret weapon you know like it was like we finally you know
18:53landed on something that we thought could be that
18:55So what are you going to do now?
19:01How are you going to move forward?
19:04Dunno
19:06I don't know what the path forward is
19:09Do nothing seems to get everyone everywhere else so
19:15Va-bom
19:22What a-bom
19:35Joky
19:36Why is he using series 500? We need a washer.
19:40What? We need a washer and bolt.
19:42See these? These are the wrong screws.
19:44So all these tie-downs are wrong.
19:46For **** sake.
19:48Shannon! Wrong screws, bud!
19:50Yeah, if I had a lot of inspections today,
19:52I think the floor plan changes made things a little tricky.
19:57Also, yeah, Shan being quite new, like, in terms of wet areas.
20:03He's done them everywhere. This is all stuffed.
20:06You've got to use the bolt and the washer.
20:09See this? This is the tie-down detail?
20:12See those washers and that? That's what we have to use.
20:15We're going to have to pass just this wall.
20:19If we can.
20:21Yeah, well, that's your wall, so...
20:24Yeah.
20:26Yeah.
20:28Benny did this one. This one's done right.
20:32She should have just kept Ben the Builder
20:34because there's been that many problems. What's going on?
20:37Don't know what the outcome is. I quit today.
20:44So, obviously, as the day was going on and we kept failing inspections,
20:47I was like, we're not going to be tiling.
20:50We're not going to get freedom in tomorrow.
20:52So, I put out a message in the chat and I said,
20:55should we ask for extra time?
20:57I bumped into Em and Em basically said what I was saying.
21:01Do you want to see if we can get extended hours?
21:02Yes, let's do it.
21:03What? Yeah?
21:04Body Corp.
21:05I'm in the garage in Slayton.
21:09Han and Emma, side by side, marching.
21:12Taz, Body Corp.
21:13They were getting extended hours.
21:14I was like, yup.
21:15Yep, well then. Cool.
21:16Join the party.
21:18This nice Han's going to be so f***ing jealous.
21:22The question is, everyone has to agree on it.
21:24I turn around and all the houses, house one, two and three,
21:29are storming the driveway.
21:31They're coming down.
21:32It looks like something out of an old western.
21:35Hey, Deb.
21:36What's going on?
21:37What's going on?
21:38Hi.
21:39You guys want to do extended hours tonight?
21:42Nope.
21:43Oh, please.
21:45Nope.
21:46Did you say no?
21:50Everyone is screwed, Sunny, please.
21:54Did they not hear my name the first time?
21:59I don't want to do extended hours.
22:01You're saying no again?
22:03I'm saying no again.
22:05I actually thought they were joking.
22:07Did you?
22:08I just stood on my driveway and laughed.
22:11They laughed and smirked.
22:12I was like, ha ha ha.
22:14But they were serious.
22:15Yep, no less serious than they were last week
22:17when the issue of extended hours came up.
22:20So I guess who wants to have extended hours?
22:22Throw your hands up?
22:23Ooh.
22:27No?
22:28You don't want it?
22:29Ooh.
22:30No?
22:31Everyone throws their hand up except Leash
22:33and she says,
22:35Game on !
22:38And walks off into McCafe.
22:40I thought she was nice.
22:41Jake?
22:42That was strategic by her.
22:43Absolutely.
22:44Because she knew that Britt and Taz were really behind.
22:49If I'm organised, I don't see why I...
22:52It's very easy to get organised with these blokes in your house.
22:55It's got nothing to do with Curcio.
22:56It does.
22:57Curcio's unbelievable.
22:58I'll tell you who facilitated this and it's Brodie.
23:01Brodie was ringing me last week when I was on the road.
23:03Brodie was ringing us, organising it.
23:04For us, we've done everything we did to get ourselves ahead.
23:08And then I'd give them the extra hours and they'd catch up.
23:10It's completely pointless.
23:12For me, in that moment, I thought that they could see that everyone was stressed and struggling.
23:22That they would have said, yeah, no worries.
23:25Like, what's an extra two hours tonight?
23:27You know?
23:28It was just flattening.
23:30It was just irritating, especially because Hannah can.
23:33Have helped everyone out.
23:35You know what?
23:36I haven't won a room yet.
23:37There's one more room to win.
23:38If four of you don't finish, I might finally win one.
23:41That's as simple as it is.
23:48Hannah's clearly upset.
23:49We don't even finish a conversation and she's gone.
23:52So I just got my own sign and obviously just went back to the house.
23:56I don't have any time to waste standing here.
23:59I'm just doing the hours and doing the s*** that I can do during that.
24:03Okay.
24:04That's all right.
24:05I think Em just laughs and says everything's okay because that's just how nice they are.
24:09Robbie and Matt sort of rocked up at the back end of it and they were like, huh?
24:12We stood there like, oh.
24:14Oh.
24:15Oh.
24:16Oh.
24:17Oh.
24:18Oh.
24:19Can we go back in the house now?
24:20Cool, bye.
24:21Bye.
24:22You've got to remember Hand Can, Sunny Leash, Matt and myself, they're going to Lake House for dinner.
24:27We're going to Lake House.
24:28So we're leaving site at 4 o'clock.
24:29So they're just having an argument for nothing.
24:31Like, think ahead.
24:32How do you feel about Sunny and Alicia saying no to extended hours?
24:39It doesn't align with my values, but up to them.
24:42They won't be like that.
24:43They won't be like that.
24:44What has it been like?
24:47I don't know.
24:52To me it's rude.
24:53Not really rude.
24:54What would you do if you...
24:55What?
24:56What would you do?
24:57What would I do?
24:58I mean, what Can did this morning, what I did last night, getting people's insulation,
25:08her going in the tiles, that's who we are as people.
25:13So what I would do, is agree.
25:16Especially when everyone's standing there asking for it.
25:30Tell you what, I'm not going to be playing happy families walking around a bloody farm tour, that's for sure.
25:36Ain't no way.
25:43You can take it, leave it, think I'm an arsehole.
25:49You can own your ****.
25:59It's late Arvo Tuesday here at The Block, and it's all systems go on back of house room builds today.
26:06Teams scrambling to be ready in time for a whole lot of cabinets to be installed tomorrow morning.
26:12Okay.
26:13Sounds like a plan.
26:14Anne Cairns finally made it back to site after a five hour trip to pick up tiles.
26:20And apparently we've got nothing to tile, so I'm glad I've got the tiles ready for house one and house five.
26:26You're welcome.
26:27What are you going to do now?
26:28Oh my God, I've got to go see Han.
26:30Apparently there's a lot to sort out.
26:32Apparently she's had the worst day ever.
26:37Do you reckon you can run around site and see if you can find me a cone drill bit?
26:40Absolutely.
26:41I'll get you one of those.
26:42Yeah, we need that quick.
26:43Righto, righto.
26:45Do you know what it is?
26:47Yeah.
26:48Yeah, I'm sure.
26:49I reckon we should try Google Gemini Live.
26:51Say less.
26:52I'm looking for a cone drill bit amongst this mess.
26:57Okay, I see the cone drill bit.
27:00It's to the right of the orange jacket.
27:03Hey.
27:04Is that a cone drill bit?
27:05What's this?
27:06Yep, that's a cone drill bit, also known as a step drill bit.
27:09Done.
27:10How did you get that?
27:11I just know what my tools are.
27:13It only took nine weeks, but you're getting there.
27:15Taz sure has come a long way since week one on the block.
27:18Boys, we need vanilla boards and we need them now.
27:22Ah, yep.
27:23The old vanilla board, also known as Villa Board for anyone not known Taz, is a very handy
27:29piece of kit on a building site, especially when doing wet areas.
27:33Good old fashioned Australian mate James Hardy, Villa Board, moisture resistant.
27:37100%.
27:38I mean, it's really great to use products that are naturally moisture resistant.
27:41We always try in our wet areas to construct them as waterproof as we can before we waterproof.
27:46And with plenty of Villa Board going up this week, 25 rooms on the boil, you'd expect all
27:51our blockheads to be hard at work right about now.
27:55But incredibly, more than half of our teams have clocked off early for Sabo and are already
28:01heading off site.
28:02All hail queen chicken foot.
28:05However, there is a very good explanation for this.
28:08Because about two weeks ago, three couples won a team challenge, renovating an area at
28:13the iconic Rex Cinema in Dalesford, which came with a huge prize.
28:18We've got $10,000 cash, plus a $10,000 art voucher from Stony Creek Gallery.
28:26Yeah!
28:27Our lucky winners really cleaned up with a personal tour of nearby Lavandula Farm, followed
28:34by dinner at the iconic Lake House restaurant.
28:38Well, I'm just going to put it out there.
28:40I'm pretty sure this is going to be pretty entertaining since Hannah just walked off in
28:43a huff.
28:44Who's waiting there?
28:45I don't care who's waiting there for us.
28:47They've had a stuff up day and they can't do this and they can't do that, but that's not
28:52our problem.
28:53So we're going to just not come.
28:55I know.
28:56I wish we didn't come, honestly.
28:58And no, we're not giving away our advantage anymore.
29:01So you can sink on your own.
29:03Don't make a big deal.
29:04I'm not making a big deal out of it.
29:06I'm just her.
29:07That was just the icing on the cake.
29:09Well, hold onto your hats, folks, because I reckon this farm tour and dinner is going
29:14to be about as awkward as a clown at a funeral.
29:17How are you going?
29:18Thanks for coming.
29:19Hi.
29:20How are you going?
29:21Hi.
29:31I might head up over here.
29:33Something that makes these gardens really special is there's so many magical little spots.
29:40We just really set about making sure that there was lots of spaces and vistas for people
29:45to look out over.
29:54How are you guys?
29:55Sisters?
29:56Friends?
29:57Partners.
29:58Partners.
29:59You look so alike.
30:00I know, we get told that.
30:02Gorgeous.
30:03And then we've got lots of Highland cows and things like that as well.
30:08Be my favourite.
30:09We're actually also a working lavender farm, hence the name Lavendula.
30:15I think everybody could do with some lavender back at the block.
30:18Right.
30:25Is it hard to walk into a dinner with the people you're not exactly getting along with
30:29right this minute?
30:30I mean, I wouldn't say that we're not getting along.
30:32I would just say I'm hurt and I just need some time to accept what happened.
30:37Where are you going?
30:38Do you want to sit over there?
30:39Well, maybe I should sit that side with the girls.
30:40No.
30:41What do you want me to sit over there?
30:42Boys versus girls, is it?
30:43Or are we mixing it up?
30:44Let's sit down.
30:45Oh!
30:46Oh!
30:47Oh!
30:48Oh!
30:49I love a bit of, like, watching behaviour.
30:50Oh, this is so exciting!
30:51I knew it was going to be awkward, 100%.
30:52Yeah.
30:53There was an awkward silence.
30:54But Lucy, as she does, called it out straight away and she goes, are you not talking to us?
31:00I just said to them, like, what's your problem?
31:01I'm not not talking to you, Lucy.
31:02I've just had a day and I said, I'm not angry at you.
31:07I'm not angry at you.
31:08I'm just a little bit hurt.
31:09I'm upset that you think that we're purposely hurting your feelings because we would never
31:14go out of our way.
31:15I'm just, like, I'm just like, I'm like, I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm not
31:16very hurt.
31:17I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm not, I'm just like, I'm not.
31:18I'm not.
31:19I'm not talking to you, Lucy.
31:20I've just had a day and I said, I'm not angry at you.
31:25I'm just a little bit hurt.
31:27I'm upset that you think that we're purposely hurting your feelings because we would never
31:31go out of our way.
31:32No, I'm just like, I'm purposely hurting everyone's feelings.
31:33I'm just hurting general.
31:34Well, I'm trying to say the opposite.
31:37We're not purposely trying to hurt your feelings.
31:38No, I'm not.
31:39But I'm making a decision.
31:41No.
31:42This afternoon I'm making a decision for the betterment of my game.
31:44of my game, not anyone else's.
31:46I think she is just hurt by the whole process
31:48of the game. I understand how.
31:50Not personal memes, just the game.
31:52It's hard for us to play the game too.
31:54Is that champagne? Oh, hello.
31:56Oh, I've got my glass of bubbles.
31:58I'm having a nice time. Oh, look, they're bickering.
32:00That's cute.
32:02I don't drink champagne like that, by the way.
32:04Like I said to everyone this afternoon,
32:06there's one room left. We haven't won one.
32:08If I can win that... You've all had that experience.
32:10I'd like to have f***ing golden.
32:12And so I'm protecting my game,
32:14my wife,
32:16my family. That's where it's at.
32:18And you can take it, leave it,
32:20think I'm an arsehole,
32:22but don't you f***.
32:24Yeah, I think
32:26the decision for no extra time
32:28is just a lot to come to terms with.
32:30So nothing personal,
32:32Han? I had the worst day
32:34I've ever had today.
32:36And then it was just like, I just was
32:38so defeated and over and then that was
32:40just like, oh my God, I just can't. But I just want
32:42you to understand that it's nothing personal.
32:44Like, right? Yeah, I know that.
32:46Like, it's not personal. You know we love you girls.
32:48And like...
32:50When you can explain to Han
32:52exactly where it's come from and what's happening,
32:54then she's a very reasonable person.
32:56Yeah. And then once
32:58we sort of had it out...
33:00Then it was all good. Look, it is what it is.
33:02Like, I was just like, there's nothing against you both.
33:04Like, I understand why you made
33:06the decision. That's totally cool.
33:08And then we had a drink.
33:10Cheers. Winners, winners.
33:12Congratulations on renovating
33:14the Rex.
33:20This is what it feels like to be a winner guys, hey?
33:22Wowee.
33:24We've definitely been missing out.
33:28So you're in this really fancy
33:30hatted restaurant in the wine cellar
33:32having this beautiful meal.
33:34Is it the perfect opportunity to play
33:36Kiss, Marry, Kill?
33:38Look.
33:39When we meet new...
33:40Yes.
33:41Yes.
33:42Kiss one, Marry one, Kill one.
33:44Go.
33:45Okay, I'll kiss Matt,
33:46I'll marry Sunny,
33:48and I'll kill you.
33:49Who would you marry?
33:50Sunny?
33:51Me and Robbie.
33:52Obviously.
33:53We would live such a happy life together.
33:55Who are you gonna kiss then?
33:56My kiss hand.
34:00Ew.
34:02He's like, my brother.
34:04Who are you killing?
34:06Who am I killing?
34:08Might too, Ben.
34:10Hmm.
34:15Did this game kind of help ease some tension?
34:17Oh, definitely.
34:19Definitely.
34:20But then we made the lovely girl
34:24who was a waitress that night.
34:27We made her play it as well.
34:29And she goes,
34:31Well, I'd kill you because you're giving me the side eye.
34:35Had.
34:40Eyes of a murderer.
34:41Eyes of a murderer.
34:42Eyes of a murderer.
34:59Very eerie morning on the block.
35:00Bloody oath, isn't it?
35:01And they're unloading trucks.
35:03Get on.
35:04I don't want to be driving here.
35:07This is more like it.
35:08Look at the weather.
35:09This is lovely.
35:10It's much more like I expected.
35:13Can contestants please keep clearing up, cleaning up, make room and accommodate freedom today.
35:22They've got a big crew in.
35:23They're going to try and get in and get out.
35:25They can only do it with your help.
35:28Thank you all.
35:29Have a good day.
35:30Enjoy.
35:31Keep going mate.
35:32Keep going mate.
35:33Keep going mate.
35:38Hold me.
35:39Hold me.
35:40Hold me.
35:41I'm slipping.
35:46How are you both feeling this morning and why?
35:48I'm feeling good.
35:50I'm feeling good too.
35:51You're feeling better today.
35:52You were feeling really defeated last night.
35:59Well done.
36:02Over in House 3, both Britt and Taz are already playing catch up on a very busy back of house week.
36:10They can sheet everything here and cinch the ceiling as well.
36:13If we can get this all sheeted today, then we'll be alright.
36:15But if not...
36:16I just don't know how far we're going to get with sheeting.
36:18We need tiles on the floor.
36:20Everything's hinged on that waterproof because as soon as that gets ticked off, we're laying tiles.
36:27Can you start tiling along these sides so that it can start drying for cabinets?
36:31Yeah.
36:32Yeah.
36:33Paz?
36:34Yeah.
36:35We can start tiling the sides.
36:36Perfect.
36:37And we'll just fix up the corners.
36:38Fix those four corners.
36:39Cool.
36:40Got the tick and grabbed three plasterers and threw them in the room to start plastering up.
36:41The chippies are still moving walls around and doing the right things.
36:44And then the tilers, we're pretty lucky with the tilers.
36:47They're unbelievable.
36:48Do you feel like you're coming out of a slump a little bit?
36:49I feel like we are coming out of a slump a bit.
36:51Like, I feel a lot better.
36:52We realise there's a lot to do.
36:54Like, we've got to get the tiles down, freedom.
36:56We've got to even fit out.
36:57We had to main the buyers during walkthrough last week, last Thursday, so the house was
37:01spotless.
37:02And then today, there's lots of dust and dirt.
37:08So I headed off to Bunnings today and I was looking for some cleaning products.
37:15I was showing to the new Ryobi One tools where it's like a wet dry vac.
37:19So this is the Ryobi 18 volt One Plus, because it's the two-in-one, it's got the vacuum and the mop, so it'll be perfect for getting it rid of all the dust and the mud.
37:27I'll just grab this one down to give you a show.
37:29You press that one and it'll self-clean it for you.
37:31And then the upholstery cleaner as well.
37:34It's got two different, like, nozzle heads to get in those tight little nooks and crannies.
37:39The house is a dust pit again.
37:41I'm like, how?
37:42It's insane.
37:43There's no doors and windows on.
37:45Where's all this dust coming from?
37:47Where's all this dust coming from?
37:49There's no door on the front.
37:51The windows aren't in yet.
37:53The garage is open.
37:55She's just going to tell you to build a damn door if you keep this up.
37:58Yeah.
37:59Taran.
38:01Taran.
38:04Brittany.
38:07We're looking for a man from freedom.
38:09Looking for a man from freedom.
38:10Five-two.
38:11Doesn't smile.
38:12He himself doesn't smile.
38:13Gonna lose it.
38:14Oh, he just whacked me.
38:15Oh, sorry.
38:16Oh.
38:17Can someone see if he's in there?
38:18And then they'll run away.
38:19Bryce!
38:20Bryce!
38:21Can you hear me?
38:22Just coming to House Five to do a waterproofing inspection in their laundry.
38:25First thing I noticed...
38:26Oh!
38:27Oh!
38:28I see the boys out the front.
38:30What are they doing?
38:31Go, go Gadget!
38:32Fingers!
38:33Come on, guys.
38:34We're in week nine.
38:35Looking for Bryce!
38:36So tomorrow you're going to be all prepped for the freedom install?
38:37Yeah, that's the big goal for today.
38:38Make sure that the tiles are completed and grouted and freedom need to be in first thing tomorrow
38:53morning.
38:54Or we ain't getting this room done.
38:56Hey, Robbie.
38:57Is the waterproofing protected?
39:00No.
39:01Boys, boys, boys.
39:02Waterproofing.
39:03Ladders.
39:04Steel.
39:05Tools.
39:06This is just ridiculous right now.
39:19There's multiple people in there working on ladders.
39:22No protection down.
39:23Tools on the floor.
39:24Sharp objects on the floor.
39:26And then I look around the corner, I can see a piercing from a ladder.
39:29Well, look at this corner.
39:30See where the ladder's gone?
39:31That's damaged.
39:32Where?
39:33See where the ladder has hit right here?
39:35See that?
39:36That's a ladder that pulled that back, so that's all damaged.
39:41We've got tools, sharp tools.
39:43We've got things everywhere.
39:45There's no point in waterproofing.
39:47Alright, we'll get the ceiling down and then worry about it, because we need to put ladders
39:52on it, so there's no point.
39:53Well, there's a chance the joinery won't go in this week, then.
39:56Well, that's what I was saying on Tuesday.
39:58The areas aren't ready.
39:59They're going to be nicely sheeted.
40:00No joinery.
40:08Where they're waterproofed on the slab is about 10 mil lower than the screed.
40:14Well, are you okay with that?
40:16This is a disaster.
40:25Welcome back to the blog and a very busy back-of-house build week.
40:29Over the last few days, we've had an army of trades working tirelessly on waterproofing,
40:35tiling, flooring and cabinetry, as our teams scramble to each get five rooms finished come
40:41Sunday.
40:42It's one of those all-or-nothing wigs that really starts to sort the contenders from the
40:47pretenders.
40:48And, as always, House One are well prepared as ever.
40:51The mudroom and the laundry is looking great.
40:53The garage is plastered.
40:54They're starting stopping up.
40:55All our tiles are down.
40:57The last kind of floorboards are going down in the mudroom.
41:00So it's great.
41:01And Freedom cabinetry is all going in.
41:03So I think we're in a good spot.
41:04I think so.
41:05Yesterday sucked.
41:06Felt pretty defeated and, like, we weren't, like, gonna even get anywhere.
41:12Yesterday, House Two had a major problem in their wet area with a gap between a wall and
41:17their floor, stopping them from waterproofing.
41:20So we had to figure out how we would make the area suitable for waterproofing.
41:27What we landed on was structural grout, and that was the solution.
41:31But we got there.
41:32It's been a much better day.
41:33Like, we're making headway.
41:35Everyone's smashing it.
41:37So, um, yeah.
41:38Feeling a lot better.
41:39Take your pick.
41:40Chewy caramel.
41:41Go on.
41:43The Freedom team have put in about 80% of our cabinetry.
41:52And our tilers are moving on to the powder room, so there's still work to be done there
41:56tomorrow.
41:57But majority of our cabinetry is actually going in on Wednesday.
42:00Can you believe it?
42:01Bloody Miracle.
42:02I don't even know how we got that done.
42:06Good day in House Two.
42:11You guys are doing great.
42:13Really good.
42:15We're waterproofed.
42:16The mudroom cabinetry is fully tiled and installed.
42:21And the laundry cabinetry has started going in as well.
42:24So we're in an okay place?
42:25Like...
42:26We're not fully confident just because of last week.
42:28Oh, my God!
42:31Oh, it's actually...
42:32There's nothing in here.
42:33How's that happened?
42:34What has happened?
42:36But the smiles return, the energy's back.
42:41Over in House Four, welcome delivery of garage cabinetry has just arrived on site, expressed
42:47from Bunnings.
42:48But unfortunately, there's one more rather pressing delivery that has yet to show up.
42:53Our tilers have been on site today, ready to tile our WC.
42:58Now we're waiting on Beaumont to arrive.
43:00I think it arrives at 2 o'clock in afternoon.
43:02We're supposed to be there at 12.30.
43:04The reason House Four's tiles weren't a part of Cairns Epic Delivery Service yesterday was
43:09because Sonny had already organised a courier to bring their tiles to site from Sydney.
43:14But they're still yet to arrive.
43:17As you can see, we tried to deliver on Wednesday, the 7th of May, but the company was closed.
43:22We're already working on re-delivery, and we may be in contact.
43:25Is there anything else I can help you with today?
43:27How can they try and deliver something when they're f***ing people here 24-7?
43:32Please, can I speak to a person?
43:34Anything else I can do for you?
43:36Can I speak to a person?
43:42Is there something else you want to help with regarding your shipment?
43:45Yes.
43:46Please speak to a person.
43:52Okay.
43:53What else can we do to help you with your shipment?
43:56It is a disadvantage, yes.
43:58It does slow us down, yes.
44:00And it's setbacks like this that makes for one very grumpy Sonny.
44:04He's got anxiety.
44:05People are walking in out me f***ing door, walking mud all over me house.
44:08I'm about to flick out.
44:11What he means is he has anxiety and he doesn't like when there's lots of people here.
44:15I don't like mud if it f***ing does my head in.
44:17It's touch and go because we have no tiles, we have no cabinetry, we have no flooring, we have no toilet, we have no sink, we have got no components in any of these rooms.
44:36Got jibrock up.
44:38That's a start.
44:39It's a start.
44:40But it doesn't look like a mud room or powder room or butlers.
44:46It just looks like a couple of sheets.
44:49I'm about to sheet myself.
44:50But if you thought that made you sheet yourself, wait till you hear this one.
44:55We're going to do a waterproof inspection but where they've waterproofed on the slab is about ten mil lower than the screed.
45:04I'm okay with that.
45:05That's what I thought.
45:07No.
45:08This should have been picked up yesterday when I mentioned it to the boys and they said no, no it's all good.
45:13Like they always do, just laugh it off.
45:15So now I've just gone into your laundry.
45:17Yeah.
45:18Are you aware we've got to put some self leveller down?
45:20No.
45:21This is a disaster.
45:23House five.
45:24Everything they've done, they've done wrong.
45:26This is all stemmed from the boys changing the plants and putting the laundry where it shouldn't be.
45:31Whilst I was in there I just noticed where the waste pipe is for their laundry seems to be floating in no man's land.
45:38I've had to call Bryce in just to see whether it's going to be okay.
45:41Your kickboard there is set back another 190 mil covering where this base is going here.
45:48So that base is set 20 right.
45:50That's where the kickboard there is going.
45:54What?
45:55They're talking and it sounds like this.
45:58We have no idea.
46:00Probably have to be machined out because I can't get enough tech from the...
46:04So they basically said this isn't right.
46:09Your waste is in the wrong spot.
46:10So even though the boys have created the required space for their new laundry cabinets by pushing back into the water closet,
46:17they haven't accounted for their waste pipes here.
46:21Because the cabinetry now needs to be built around these pipes, essentially hiding them,
46:26the boys now need to extend their walls to allow enough room for the cabinetry to fit in front of their pipe.
46:34So the boys in house five suddenly have a triple prong problem and it breaks down like this.
46:40Firstly, they need to rip up all the existing waterproofing in the laundry area,
46:45then raise the floor level with structural cement to create the adequate fall from the entrance to this drain here.
46:52Lastly, they have to pack out the back wall and extend the side walls to accommodate the pipes under the cabinet.
46:59So here we are, I think it was about 6.30 at night.
47:04I've jumped in the car and I have raced to Bunnings in Ballarat to pick up 15 bags of concrete
47:12to basically lift up the floor level so that way we can have the water run off at the right angle.
47:18I got home and boys had 15 minutes to get down some floor leveller.
47:24Oh, we're doomed.
47:25Tomorrow night, five rooms in one week is starting to take its toll.
47:30How's Matt meant to know when he's running?
47:31All you boys do is just deflect, deflect, deflect.
47:33We don't deflect, mate.
47:34We're getting towards the end of the competition and your house is failing.
47:38Is your landscaper here?
47:39He is.
47:40You might want to get him out of here.
47:41Yeah?
47:42Because this is all going to be ripped up.
47:44And Sonny is taking no prisoners and playing the game hard.
47:47Okay.
47:48What's going on next door?
47:49What's going on next door?
47:50Which house?
47:51House three.
47:52House three.
47:53Is it working ahead if you're doing subframe for a alfresco week?
48:00Then to light the mood on a tough week, I pull a joker from the dead and host the tradie games.
48:06Bring in the spectators!
48:07With some special guests along for the ride.
48:10The all-stars have turned up.
48:12Let the games begin!
48:13Let's go!
48:14Oh my goodness.
48:15Yes!
48:16Get it!
48:17You've done well.
48:18You've done well.
48:19Oh!
48:20Oh!
48:21Oh!
