The Block Season 21 Episode 42
Transcript
00:00Three previous block backyards into one of these places.
00:04Big space, big space means a lot of things that need to be done,
00:06which means a lot of money.
00:07Hustle is going to be our motto for this season.
00:09Hustle, hustle, hustle.
00:10We were talking about landscaping plans from day job.
00:13Gardens are so important to us.
00:15I've got all this crazy paving coming in for here.
00:18That's going to be our point of difference.
00:20They keep just saying, any money you win is going to go into your landscape.
00:24Tonight, backyard week officially begins.
00:28Best week of the block there.
00:30We can't wait, we can't wait.
00:31Full-on week.
00:31It is going to be epic, providing we can pull it off.
00:35Being outside, it's a whole new playing field.
00:37Just the scale of this week is ginormous.
00:40There's so many things.
00:41I just don't know how we're going to pull it off.
00:44Nearly unrealistic to think that you could landscape this whole backyard in a week.
00:48Keep calm and drink tea.
00:50We had poured a little bit of the concrete.
00:53Other than that, we've done no length.
00:54We have this huge seven-and-a-half-ton fireplace
00:56and then an 18-by-eight pickable court.
00:59No other house has got that.
01:00And as we've reached the end of the competition,
01:03it seems all is fair in love and landscaping.
01:06Our point of difference to the landscape is these rocks,
01:09and now they're in your landscape.
01:11Well, it's on our land.
01:12Finders keepers.
01:13Yeah.
01:14Losers weepers.
01:14It's week 11, and it is the biggest week of them all.
01:28It's landscaping week.
01:30Garden says so much to a house.
01:32Like, it sells a house.
01:34We love landscaping.
01:36And driving through Dalesford,
01:37you see all these amazing back and front yards.
01:39You see the work that people put into them.
01:46So to sell this house, yes, the interior needs to be great,
01:49but your outdoors just needs to be next level.
01:59Yep, in just seven days,
02:01our blockheads need to turn these piles of dirt
02:03into backyards worthy of their Dalesford surroundings.
02:06Needless to say, it's going to be a very busy week.
02:11So we've got the entire backyard,
02:15the pool cabana, everything around the pool,
02:18all the landscaping, the earth moving, the excavation.
02:22It's a lot.
02:24Busy stuff.
02:25Concrete pours in one, two, three and five today.
02:28We've already got two pumps here.
02:29There's going to be a lot happening.
02:31Last week's going to look like kids playing in the sandpit
02:34compared to the next two weeks.
02:35All right, that's it for today.
02:38Be nice to each other.
02:39Have a coffee.
02:43Did you enjoy last night, Shayla?
02:45Yeah.
02:46What was showing?
02:47The first episode.
02:48So funny.
02:50Sunday night after judging,
02:51we watched the first episode.
02:53Welcome to our 21st season of The Block.
02:56It's weird seeing yourself on TV.
03:02Yeah.
03:03I loved it.
03:04Yeah, we thought it was cool.
03:05I loved watching that.
03:05They captured our backstory so well.
03:07Today's why I always have to take her to the shops.
03:10She loved all because she sings her songs in the back of the car.
03:13We're just like best mates.
03:19Close to getting the age where we're looking to start families and all that.
03:24Surprise.
03:26It was awesome.
03:28Nice surprise.
03:28Really nice.
03:29Yeah.
03:30Because I will not cop that.
03:31I did nothing towards you and nor have I done anything towards you this entire time.
03:36Not one thing.
03:37We walked out of there, Jan.
03:39Sweet.
03:40That's us.
03:40We loved it.
03:41Yeah.
03:41We are who we are.
03:46Give me a high five, please.
03:48Ah!
03:51We all saw ourselves on TV and it was like, wow, we had a good laugh.
03:56But we were enjoying ourselves and we have ever since.
04:00Who was not happy with how they were portrayed?
04:04Not portrayed, but was anyone not happy?
04:07We're trying to get a million things done really quickly.
04:11So now I've lost trust here.
04:13It's a bit too long from a period.
04:18How's Pam?
04:19You alright?
04:20Hiding in her hoodie.
04:23You alright?
04:25Yeah?
04:25No.
04:26No?
04:29I think she's embarrassed by it.
04:31Everything is just...
04:32She was like, f***.
04:33F***.
04:37Just watching myself be, like, disgusted with House 2, to me it came across like I was ungrateful.
04:47This is a problem to me, this retaining wall.
04:52It's so ugly.
04:53I hate it.
04:54I hate it.
04:55I hate it.
04:57I just look like a spoiled brat.
05:00That's how it felt watching it and that's why I was like...
05:03That's why I was like, oh, gross.
05:06Like, I feel gross about myself.
05:08I feel gross about the situation.
05:09This is the world that we live in.
05:16I feel myself getting tired.
05:19This is the world that we live in.
05:25Watching the first episode was a little cringe.
05:27The first couple weeks for us, like, we didn't know what we were in for.
05:31We were, like, I don't know, like, birds who had just let them nest and were struggling to fly.
05:38The next two weeks, just want to have a bit of fun.
05:40We used to have so much fun together.
05:42We used to get along so well.
05:44Who never argued before?
05:45We used to be friends.
05:46We used to be friends.
05:47Now we're enemies.
05:48Can you believe it?
05:49We're enemies.
05:51It's okay.
05:52We'll see what happens after the block.
05:53Monday morning, we...
06:00We're feeling good.
06:01Oh, we feel fantastic.
06:02We're feeling 40 grand richer.
06:03With a perfect score.
06:0630 out of 30.
06:08We did it.
06:09We got a perfect score.
06:11We won the week.
06:13And we got a 10 from every judge.
06:17Congratulations, boys.
06:19Last night, the boys revealed their highly anticipated wine cellar.
06:24That's been 10 weeks in the making, and the judges absolutely loved it.
06:29Oh, look at this.
06:37This is the perfect wine cellar.
06:40This is a home run.
06:42They now don't have the same houses.
06:45Yeah.
06:45And put themselves in a totally new bracket because of what they've added.
06:50Fresh Co area and sheds last night.
06:53This morning, at the Domain Open for Inspections, everyone's focus is on the boys' wine cellar.
07:00Oh, my gosh.
07:02Wow.
07:03I love it.
07:05Wow.
07:06So cool.
07:07The boys just smashed it out of the park.
07:09Three 10s.
07:10Incredible.
07:12That's f***ing thick.
07:13Wow.
07:14Language.
07:17I tried so hard to fault it, but it honestly was freaking epic.
07:23Wow.
07:23Look at the floor.
07:24How amazing about it.
07:28Far out.
07:30Very cool.
07:31They nailed it.
07:3310 out of 10 out of 10 out of 10 out of 10 out of 10.
07:36Oh, my God.
07:37I feel sorry for anybody else who's doing a cellar because this is just like, you can't compete.
07:43You guys have a cellar coming up?
07:45We do.
07:45We do have a cellar coming up.
07:46I feel like we've got, like, big boots to fill.
07:49Yeah.
07:50I didn't take a photo, so we can copy the whole thing.
07:53Yeah.
07:57Wow, wow, wow.
07:58This is cool.
07:58Look at the amount of wine.
08:01You would find me down here all day.
08:03Imagine how much, how litty, titty, mc-litty we would get down here, Hans.
08:07Very well deserved.
08:08And if I had my time again, I would come here with Robbie.
08:12Thanks, babe.
08:23The other space everyone is keen to check out this morning is in house three.
08:28They came third last night with a score of 27 points.
08:32We wanted to be up there with the boys.
08:33We wanted to really test them.
08:35So that's why we threw so much at it.
08:37We created a speakeasy in the shed.
08:41Is this a shed?
08:42This does not feel like a shed.
08:45Is this compliant?
08:49I don't know if this is going to get signed off.
08:51This is such a gamble.
08:53Oh, nice.
09:01Not compliant.
09:04Wow.
09:04This is a bar.
09:07You're not allowed to produce a room that you're going to spend longer than 40 minutes in.
09:13Like, if you're not supposed to encourage people to spend time in here, this is about as encouraging as it gets.
09:22I'm going out there and I'm getting drunk.
09:25That'll only take 20 minutes.
09:27Yeah, true.
09:30Oh my goodness.
09:33Wow.
09:34The shed was illegal.
09:39Not allowed.
09:40That's what the shed was.
09:41The shed was the most gorgeous tasting room.
09:44Which I loved.
09:45Don't get me wrong.
09:47But not allowed.
09:52That was my plan.
09:53And I got declined on multiple occasions.
09:56So I was pissed off.
10:01For me, it was like, how do you have what?
10:04It's okay.
10:06I know it's okay.
10:07But I'm allowed to be, like, pissed off about it being unfair.
10:12I ask all those questions, right?
10:14And we get told no.
10:15So, like, I'm like, how is it okay for one and not the other?
10:20I don't know.
10:20Don't worry about it.
10:21I'm worried about it.
10:22It is what it is.
10:23Who cares, Hannah?
10:24I can't.
10:25We move on.
10:26Two weeks to go.
10:27Just embrace it.
10:28It's fine.
10:29So, Candy, you were becoming frustrated as well.
10:31You seemed to get a bit upset.
10:33It's just Han's attitude.
10:35She was so negative.
10:38Like, literally, if anything is to learn off watching the episode last night, it's you
10:42and I need to have more fun.
10:44It would take it way too seriously.
10:46It's a TV show, Hannah.
10:47It's not life or death.
10:48I definitely want to enjoy the last couple of weeks.
10:53It's just, um, it's hard.
10:58Body's sore.
11:00Mind's gassed.
11:02Yeah.
11:02Fatigue's setting in.
11:03I don't know.
11:04It's just like watching that last night.
11:06It's just...
11:08I look like such a kid.
11:11No, you don't, babe.
11:12No, you don't.
11:13You look like someone who's passionate about what they do.
11:16Yeah, it was a very hard, emotional morning for me.
11:24It's okay.
11:24I've had a lot.
11:25Yeah.
11:27We all got you.
11:28We got you, guys.
11:29We got you.
11:30Thanks.
11:31I've had this day.
11:32While Han composes herself,
11:34the team's head to the green room
11:36to see the domain listings go live.
11:39Good to see the pictures on the domain board.
11:42Stunning.
11:43Oh, wow.
11:44Stunning.
11:45The pics on the domain board looked incredible.
11:47You deserve all the 10s.
11:49Thank you very much.
11:52It was interesting to watch last night's first episode
11:55and I forgot how fast it all started to happen from week one.
12:00Talk to me.
12:01I want to dig a cellar.
12:04You want to dig a cellar?
12:05I want to put a cellar in.
12:07And then for last night, for it to be, yeah, it was special.
12:11After watching the episode last time,
12:13they were like, we're going in
12:14and we're going to have some fun for the next two weeks.
12:16Yeah.
12:17We are going out with a bang
12:19and we're going to enjoy every last second.
12:21I just think it's important for Han and Ken
12:23that they know that we're all here for them.
12:26Home stretch, though, guys.
12:27Home stretch.
12:28Two weeks to go.
12:28We'll be all right.
12:30We're surrounded by, like,
12:31the most incredible neighbours here on the block.
12:35We will carry you through.
12:37We will hug you.
12:37We will love on you guys.
12:40Han and I are on this ride together
12:41and we both get frustrated together
12:43and we feel together
12:44and we get disappointed together.
12:46But I love you to bits.
12:47I love you to bits, too.
12:48And you're doing amazing.
12:50You've done amazing.
12:55Thanks.
12:58It's too beautiful.
12:59It's the first day of Backyard and Pool Week,
13:16the busiest week on the block.
13:17And the stakes are high
13:19as every team wants to claim
13:21they have the best backyard come option.
13:23Landscaping week is probably one of the most important weeks
13:28and if you win Landscaping Week,
13:30you've got a really good crack at taking home the competition.
13:34Our blockheads have been working hard with their landscapers
13:37over the past few weeks
13:38to get their plans for their backyards approved
13:41so they can hit the ground running this morning.
13:43They're going to need to make the most of every minute
13:47because come Sunday,
13:49they'll deliver some of the biggest backyards we've ever seen
13:52with each one measuring more than 1,000 square metres.
13:56From day one, we said kitchen and backyard landscaping
14:00is our number one priority.
14:02Best week of the block.
14:03Yeah.
14:04We can't wait.
14:04Full-on week.
14:06Budget is 50k, which is not...
14:09Not enough.
14:11At all.
14:11What does 50k get you in the landscaping world?
14:13Three trees.
14:16Pretty much.
14:17This is why Scottie from Taiwan said
14:19start your landscape now
14:20and you need more money.
14:22Yep.
14:23From the beginning of the competition,
14:25I encourage teams to save as much money
14:28as they could for landscaping.
14:30This week, they'll need to complete their entire backyard,
14:33pool area and pool cabana
14:35and they'll also need to make sure
14:37they have enough money left in their budgets
14:39to finish next week's front yard.
14:41Because it was always going to be a hard task,
14:46last week, ComBank stepped in and offered some help.
14:50ComBank are giving each team
14:52a budget boost
14:54of $50,000.
14:56Oh, stop!
14:59Oh, my God!
15:01Who has the most amount of money at this point?
15:03Who's doing OK with the budget?
15:04I think House 3, Britain Towers.
15:07House 3's probably got the most money, I would think.
15:10They've won a lot.
15:10They won 50 grand in a week.
15:12But then, Sonny and Lucia don't really tend to spend much money.
15:15Ben and Emma,
15:16you know, they won the 50k for the domain.
15:18$50,000 in cash, thanks to domain.
15:22Well, I've done the math
15:24and I can tell you exactly
15:26how much each team is spending
15:27on their backyards.
15:29Em and Ben have allocated the most
15:31at $130,000,
15:33which also needs to pay for the wine cellar
15:36they want to present this week.
15:39Britt and Taz plan to spend $100,000.
15:42Sonny and Alicia, $90,000.
15:45Robbie and Matt are spending $70,000,
15:48but they've also won a $50,000 fireplace
15:51and a $50,000 pickleball court
15:54to include in their backyard.
15:57So that leaves Han and Can,
15:59who have the least amount to spend,
16:01just $50,000,
16:03which, according to Taz,
16:05should get them three trees.
16:07It's hard this week.
16:09Dive straight to house two.
16:12Because the backyards this year are so big,
16:14I also suggest that the blockheads
16:16start their landscaping early
16:18to give them the best chance
16:19of finishing on time.
16:22House three and house five
16:24are the only ones
16:25who took me up on this advice.
16:26They've both had landscapers here
16:28for weeks already,
16:30giving them a clear advantage
16:31heading into this week.
16:33So we started landscaping three weeks ago.
16:35All the levels have been done,
16:36all the concrete that we needed
16:37to be poured is poured.
16:40It's going really well.
16:41We're in a really, really good spot.
16:42Quite happy where we're at.
16:44Britt and Taz's landscaper, Troy,
16:46is no stranger to the block,
16:48having been on board
16:49for the past three seasons.
16:52He's known for his modern contemporary style
16:55and has produced
16:56some beautiful backyards,
16:58including Tom and Sarah James'
17:00winning landscape back in Gisborne.
17:02It's good to have Troy on board
17:05because he's so meticulous
17:06with everything he needs to get done.
17:07So not only does he do
17:09the landscaping side,
17:10the render side of the thing
17:11and everything like that,
17:12but he'll also get on the tools.
17:13He's a very good project manager.
17:16I reckon we're in a good shape,
17:18best spot.
17:19And once you put all these trees in,
17:21the creek through here,
17:22mate, it's next level.
17:23So how we're trying to set ourselves apart
17:25is being very on brief with Dalesfoot.
17:28So people here love landscapes.
17:31It's all about natural beauty,
17:32sustainability, wellness.
17:34So our house is a wellness house,
17:36so incorporating that
17:37into the landscapes as well.
17:39Our plan is to walk out
17:40from your back door
17:41through your refresco.
17:42You've got your seating area
17:43around a beautiful
17:45stone-cladded fireplace.
17:46You've got a nice little runway of grass.
17:48You turn left
17:49and you go to the wellness area,
17:51which is your sauna,
17:52it's your ice bar,
17:53spa,
17:53and then from there
17:54you've got the tall cabana.
17:56And we have beautiful timber arbors
17:58from trees
17:59that have fallen down in the area.
18:00A natural creek runoff.
18:02We have a greenhouse,
18:03chicken coop,
18:04veggie gardens.
18:06It is going to be epic.
18:07The plans are there.
18:09Let's hope we pull it off.
18:11House 3's epic plans
18:12also include
18:13an epic amount of plants,
18:15with more than 2,000 trees and shrubs
18:17going into their backyard.
18:19So this morning,
18:20Troy is meeting with Julie from Pope
18:22to talk about irrigation.
18:24As you can see,
18:25the plants are going in this morning.
18:27Yeah, it all looks fantastic.
18:28So we are supplying
18:30a lot of the irrigation kits
18:31here for the block.
18:32Amazing.
18:32We're doing the Pope PC drip line,
18:35which is perfect for all this
18:36heavy planting through here.
18:38Yep.
18:38So it's just really easy to use.
18:41You just need to roll it out.
18:42It's got little emitters
18:43every 30 centimetres long,
18:45which will just emit
18:46an even flow of water.
18:47All the houses this year
18:49will also have
18:50a rainbird controller system.
18:52That can be accessed
18:53via an app.
18:54So the owners will be able
18:55to control the flow of water
18:56with a touch of a button.
18:58So you can control
18:59your irrigation
18:59if you're on the couch,
19:01if you're on holidays,
19:02even overseas.
19:03And you're looking at
19:04like 30% water savings
19:05by using a system like this.
19:13Aidan turns up.
19:14Can we go over to your shed?
19:19Yeah, of course.
19:22I love Aidan.
19:24I think he's a great dude.
19:25I just don't like him
19:26when he comes to my house.
19:30The brief for the sheds
19:31that were delivered last night
19:32was that they couldn't
19:33be a habitable room,
19:35meaning you wouldn't spend
19:36more than an hour
19:37at a time in them.
19:39But what Britton Taz delivered
19:41has raised some concerns.
19:43This morning,
19:44we've been having a look
19:44around with our Britton
19:45surveyor at all the sheds.
19:48And he's not terribly
19:49happy in here.
19:50And not having this one?
19:51No.
19:52Why?
19:53It's the fact that
19:54it's not really
19:55what we were talking about
19:56what it was going to be,
19:57really.
19:58That's what's in the plan.
19:59We spoke about
20:00the plastering.
20:01We spoke about
20:02cabinets, insulation.
20:04Yep, yep.
20:04We spoke about all those things,
20:05yeah.
20:05And we also spoke about
20:07how the whole thing's
20:09presented in the end.
20:10and, you know,
20:12a block of storage
20:13on a plan
20:14compared to a
20:16nice stone bench
20:17and, you know,
20:18there's a bit of a difference
20:19between, you know,
20:21having a wine cellar
20:22with a bench
20:23you can have a glass of wine at
20:24and having a flat-out bar.
20:26Yeah, I thought it was a bar area.
20:27Why would you think that?
20:28Describe this place to me, please.
20:29This place is like
20:31as shed is
20:31as shed can be.
20:33It's got skylights,
20:34it's got...
20:35It's got floor,
20:36a half-foot floor.
20:37It's got floor-to-ceiling wine.
20:38It's got curtains.
20:39So it's a bar.
20:41Well, it's not a bar.
20:42It's sort of a cellar
20:44but not a cellar.
20:44If we had have seen
20:46a drawing with this big
20:47kitchen bench in here,
20:48I would have said,
20:49you've got no way.
20:51The basic bit is
20:52for us to finish these builds
20:54and get an occupancy permit
20:56for you to be able
20:57to sell it at auction,
20:58we currently
21:00don't have our
21:01surveyor's approval
21:02for this room as it is
21:05so we've got to change it.
21:09What the hell?
21:10Like, we've sacrificed
21:11three months,
21:12you know,
21:13of our lives to be here
21:14at the end of the day
21:15to try and sell the house
21:16to set our young family up
21:18and then for him to say,
21:19well, you can't sell your house,
21:20you're like,
21:21well, what a...
21:21that's why we're here.
21:25So a wine cellar's
21:26not a habitable space, right?
21:27Correct.
21:28So like,
21:28same with the boys,
21:29as an example.
21:30But they've got a wine cellar
21:32with a bench there.
21:33Yeah.
21:34They've got a large amount
21:35of wine being stored.
21:37We're sitting in an area
21:38with a nice big
21:39open kitchen bench
21:40with skylights.
21:41That's not kitchen.
21:42That's not...
21:42That's just...
21:43They've got the exact
21:43same stone as us.
21:44Exact same thing.
21:45It's just we're getting
21:46double standards here
21:47because that's...
21:48I don't think you're getting
21:49double standards here.
21:49Yeah, Regan?
21:50I don't think you are at all.
21:51Most of that room
21:52is dominated
21:53by it being a wine cellar.
21:55Very little of this room
21:56is about it being
21:58a wine cellar.
21:59It's not a wine cellar.
22:01So if I add more wine,
22:02essentially,
22:03is what you're saying,
22:04I can get some more
22:05custom work made up in there
22:06to put more wine.
22:07So what is it?
22:07So you're telling us
22:08a problem.
22:09Yep.
22:09OK, we're obviously
22:10not builders.
22:10You're the one
22:11who's going to tick off on this.
22:12So what's the solution?
22:13I'm not here
22:14to try and tell you
22:15what to do
22:16or how to do it, right?
22:17That's your job, right?
22:18You need to tell us
22:19we can't sell it out.
22:20But for me,
22:21for me,
22:22it's more of a bar
22:23than it is a wine cellar, yeah?
22:25If you make it more
22:26of a wine cellar
22:26and not a bar,
22:29then the building's going to go,
22:31OK, cool,
22:31that's a wine cellar.
22:34Why don't you
22:35sketch something up
22:36and we'll get this
22:37available to prove it?
22:38But put more detail in it.
22:39Sorry to be the bearer
22:41of bad news.
22:42Oh, something up.
22:44It just dampens
22:45what is meant to be
22:47one of our
22:47most exciting weeks
22:49in Landscaping Week.
22:50Like, we've been
22:51looking forward to this
22:52since we started.
22:54It's just so frustrating
22:56because...
22:57Yeah, because you try
22:58and do the right thing, right?
22:59And get everything ticked off
23:00and it was
23:01and then for them now
23:02to say, oh, actually...
23:03Actually, we won't tell you out.
23:04Like, it's just so rubbish.
23:06It doesn't make any sense
23:08and we're just getting sick of it.
23:09I can't wait to go home.
23:13Couldn't agree more.
23:14Yes.
23:19To get even more of the block,
23:23head to Domain
23:23to the latest block
23:24with Stinks.
23:25See room reveals,
23:26floor plans
23:27and behind-the-scenes content
23:28only on Domain.
23:30Mid-morning backyard week
23:46and it's quite interesting
23:47to see the teams
23:48that had their landscapers
23:49here weeks ago.
23:49They're coasting.
23:51So house three
23:51and house five,
23:52they're in a good spot.
23:53But houses one, two
23:55and house four,
23:56they're way behind.
24:01Walking into this week,
24:03we're feeling confident.
24:04Obviously, we have all this land,
24:06but we're so lucky
24:07because we have this huge
24:08seven and a half ton fireplace
24:10and then an 18 by eight
24:12bigger ball court.
24:13No other house
24:14has got that.
24:15Robby and Matt's
24:16landscape of Paul
24:17is located in Dalesburg.
24:19He's been on the block
24:20once before.
24:22In 2018,
24:23he delivered a winning terrace
24:25for Norm and Jess
24:26at the Gatwick Hall.
24:28Paul wants perfection
24:29and he's got
24:31a really good team
24:32of local guys
24:33and they work
24:34really well together.
24:36These guys are incredible.
24:37As soon as they walk out,
24:39that's the shot,
24:40isn't it?
24:40Let's make this
24:41like ridiculous.
24:43So the vision
24:44for this week,
24:44we have a
24:45seated lounge area
24:47with the incredible
24:49Trends fireplace.
24:51Behind that,
24:51we have
24:52two pools.
24:54We have
24:54a pool cabana.
24:56Behind that,
24:57we have
24:57a dream court,
24:58a pickleball court.
25:00The backyard
25:00is an entertainer
25:02and family dream.
25:04Like the kids
25:05will be running around
25:06on the grass,
25:07play pickleball,
25:09jump in the pool.
25:10It's amazing.
25:15As part of
25:16Backyards this week,
25:17each team will also
25:18present a pool cabana
25:19that's already been
25:20printed by
25:21Contour 3D.
25:24Each cabana
25:25includes a powder room
25:26with a space
25:27for a toilet and sink
25:28and can be styled
25:29however teams choose.
25:30Oh yeah,
25:31we're going to do a cabana
25:32this week.
25:32What should we do?
25:33In Adelaide,
25:34a cabana is a meat stick.
25:38And for those
25:39who know Matt...
25:40No.
25:41Our issue is this room
25:42here,
25:42we've got to get that
25:43sorted.
25:43So that's going to be
25:44Matt and I,
25:45or my biggest focus
25:46this week,
25:46and that will probably
25:46be in the garden
25:47with you.
25:47Yeah.
25:48I just grabbed the pool
25:49cabana and was like,
25:50I'll take charge of this.
25:52It's a very awkward room,
25:54so we're just trying
25:55to work out how we can
25:56get at least a three-person
25:58sauna in here.
26:00I think it'll be the icing
26:00on the cake for the whole house.
26:02If he can secure the sauna,
26:04Robbie's plan is to include it
26:06on the left-hand side
26:07of the cabana
26:08with a bench seat
26:09in the middle
26:09and separate powder room
26:11on the right.
26:11I just spoke to the
26:14electricians
26:15and they said,
26:16yeah, we can get some
26:17power to a sauna.
26:18The only other person
26:19I have to get approval
26:20from is Matt,
26:20because he won't
26:23pull the trigger
26:24on anything risky.
26:26So Matt's
26:27the head of finance,
26:30the keeper of funds,
26:32and I have to run
26:33everything past Matt,
26:34because I have an
26:35idea,
26:37spending habit,
26:38which was taken off me
26:39after a couple of weeks,
26:40and Matt's been in charge
26:42of budget ever since.
26:44Oh, hello?
26:44Oh, hello.
26:46Um,
26:46I just want to speak
26:47to you about the cabana.
26:51Yeah?
26:52Um,
26:52I've spoken to
26:53the sauna people.
26:55Best price they can do
26:56is $3,000.
26:58Yeah.
26:58I think I hold off
26:59on saying yes
27:01just now
27:02until we work out
27:03how much we can
27:04actually afford.
27:07We had to rein
27:08it in this week,
27:09because after we paid
27:11all of our invoices
27:12for the wine cellar,
27:14we don't have as much
27:15to put into the backyard.
27:18Well,
27:18what's the other option
27:19if we don't do a sauna?
27:20Furniture
27:21or cabinetry
27:22or something like that.
27:26It's wellness.
27:27Yeah,
27:27it's wellness.
27:27You need a sauna.
27:28You also got to pay
27:30for the sauna.
27:31That's the thing.
27:32That's your problem.
27:33See,
27:33that's...
27:33I think we do it,
27:36because if we keep
27:36delaying it,
27:37we're just going to run
27:38out of ideas
27:38and it's just going to be
27:39a lounge area.
27:41All right,
27:41cool.
27:41Let's do it.
27:43Cool.
27:46A lot of our
27:47saying is like,
27:49oh,
27:49that's future Robbie
27:50and Matt's problem.
27:51No,
27:51that's how you operate,
27:52mate.
27:53He didn't want to do
27:53the cellar.
27:54Now it's always like,
27:55oh,
27:55it's the best idea
27:55in the world.
27:59Head in the clouds,
28:00feet on the ground.
28:03Just like the cellar idea.
28:05Let's see what the result
28:06is this week.
28:07Let's see.
28:11This is the landscape
28:12team,
28:12boys,
28:12it's JJ and Tyler.
28:15Are you going right?
28:16Yeah,
28:16sweet.
28:17Our landscape
28:17has arrived Sunday
28:18from Queensland
28:19and started Monday.
28:20We had poured
28:21a little bit
28:22of the concrete
28:22for it.
28:23Other than that,
28:24we'd done no landscaping.
28:25Yeah,
28:25so,
28:26yeah,
28:26we have a lot
28:26to do.
28:29House Falls
28:30landscaper Dylan
28:30has some previous
28:31experience on the block.
28:33He's the brother
28:34of ex-contestant
28:35Josh
28:35and was on site
28:37helping him
28:38and Elise
28:38back in Elstonwick.
28:40Dylan from Jade
28:41built.
28:41He has organised
28:43all our trees,
28:43all the soil.
28:44Dylan knows his stuff.
28:45Yeah.
28:46As well as their
28:47landscaper Dylan,
28:48Sonny and Alicia
28:49also work with
28:50landscape designer
28:51Paul Pritchard
28:52to come up with
28:53a plan for their
28:54backyard.
28:55We step off
28:57the back of our
28:57alfresco.
28:58We have a hard
28:59paved path
29:00all the way
29:01down to the pool.
29:02On the right-hand
29:02side we have
29:03an open-air harbour.
29:04Straight ahead
29:04you'll have the pool.
29:05Down over to the
29:06right on our
29:06lower section
29:07we have a
29:07veggie garden.
29:09Then off to the
29:09left have a
29:10bocce court,
29:11the pool house,
29:12fire pit,
29:12and then big
29:13grassed area
29:14at the back.
29:15So what element
29:16of that is going
29:17to set your backyard
29:17apart from the rest?
29:18I think the openness
29:20of ours,
29:21I don't like the
29:21idea of filling
29:22the entire space
29:24just because you
29:25have it doesn't
29:25mean that there
29:26has to be
29:27something going
29:28on in every
29:29nook and
29:29granny.
29:30We'll start
29:30swinging around.
29:31Yep.
29:33There it goes.
29:35We know the task
29:36at hand.
29:36This week's going
29:37to be busy.
29:38The aim today is
29:39to get as many
29:39pavers down as
29:40we can possibly.
29:41We're slow to
29:42start but hopefully
29:43quick to finish.
29:52Being outside,
29:53it's a whole new
29:53playing field and
29:55just the scale of
29:56this week's room
29:57reveal is ginormous.
29:59The plan is we've
30:01got to do this
30:02whole backyard.
30:04This week we've
30:04got a pretty
30:05incredible design
30:06that's been created
30:07by our landscaper
30:08Colin.
30:10Colin draws on
30:11his artistic
30:12background to create
30:13his landscape
30:13designs and he's
30:15never been on the
30:16block before.
30:17There's so many
30:19trees in college
30:19and this is a
30:22little job.
30:22We're replanting
30:23Baleford.
30:26As you are standing
30:27on the al fresco,
30:28you will look down
30:29and there'll be some
30:30little steps on the
30:31right with some
30:32bigger landing steps
30:33on the left there.
30:34In the middle of the
30:35landing steps we're
30:35going to have a
30:36massive planter with
30:38a beautiful tree in
30:38the middle of it.
30:39So then when you
30:40step off the step,
30:41you'll go straight
30:42onto paving.
30:43The pavers will
30:44follow down onto
30:45the pool area
30:47where you'll find
30:48the pool cabana.
30:49Buy a picture to the
30:50right of that with
30:51veggie gardens around
30:52there.
30:53This backyard's point
30:55of difference will
30:56probably be the tree
30:57selection.
30:57Yeah.
30:58Plant selection's like
30:5990% natives.
31:00We're going to have a
31:01lot of trees as well.
31:02Yeah, our landscaper
31:03prides himself on
31:05selecting trees that
31:06suit the area.
31:07You really do want to
31:08be looking out over
31:09your garden that
31:10seamlessly blends into
31:12the hills behind.
31:13Yeah.
31:14And the other thing
31:15with our house being
31:16so elevated, I
31:18definitely think that
31:19that's a real
31:19advantage for us.
31:21It's our main point
31:21of difference.
31:22Yeah.
31:22And it's our main
31:23point of difference
31:23to show this week
31:24in particular.
31:26Yeah.
31:27Em and Ben are
31:28hoping to make the
31:28most of this point of
31:29difference by building
31:31a wine cellar
31:31underneath the right
31:32wing of their house.
31:33But with the way
31:35the space is looking
31:36at the moment,
31:37they've got a lot of
31:38work ahead of them
31:39in order to pull it
31:40off by Sunday.
31:42The cellar is
31:43currently a concrete
31:45slab.
31:46Yeah, it's just the
31:46footings.
31:49Nothing that we can
31:50even give dimensions
31:51for to start doing
31:52some, you know,
31:53cabinetry take-offs
31:55or furniture or
31:57anything.
31:57Yeah.
31:59Yeah, we won't be
31:59able to deliver the
32:00cellar to the level
32:01of the work.
32:02I want to finish
32:03the cellar to the
32:04same standards as
32:05the boys.
32:06As a joinery and
32:07things like that.
32:07Yeah.
32:08The boys delivered
32:09such an incredible
32:10cellar and at the
32:11moment I'm looking
32:11around at our
32:12cellar and it
32:12looks like a mess.
32:15But they started
32:16building their
32:16cellar week one.
32:18They did.
32:20So I'm just going
32:21to get on the phone
32:22and try and find
32:23some more carpenters
32:24I reckon.
32:25You need labour.
32:25Find some more
32:26help, yeah.
32:26You got the cash,
32:27you just need labour.
32:28Yeah.
32:28It just seems a little
32:29bit unachievable
32:30at the moment.
32:31I just don't,
32:32I just don't know
32:32how we're going
32:32to pull it off.
32:43It's the first day
32:44of backyard and
32:45pool week and the
32:46block site is buzzing
32:47with more than a
32:48hundred tradies
32:49working across all
32:50five houses.
32:51And over at house two
32:57after an emotional
32:58morning for Han,
32:59Canna's bringing
33:00the positivity.
33:01I'm feeling excited to
33:08have some fun with my
33:10number one.
33:12And yeah, it's
33:13landscape week.
33:14Huge week ahead of us.
33:16Massive two weeks.
33:17We're going to polish
33:17our food.
33:18We're going to come
33:18home strong.
33:19We're going to make
33:20the most idyllic,
33:21beautiful Japanese
33:22zen garden.
33:23I can see some rocks.
33:24I can see some dirt
33:25and I'm liking
33:25what I'm seeing.
33:28So before we even
33:29came to the block,
33:30we decided we were
33:31going to do a
33:31Japanese inspired garden
33:33with Christian Jenkins,
33:34who's an absolute legend
33:35at doing Japanese
33:36zen gardens.
33:38That's the vibe
33:39we're going for.
33:41Christian has been
33:41on the block twice
33:42before.
33:43He was Omar and Oz's
33:44landscaper back in
33:45Gisborne and he
33:47designed Mitch and
33:48Mark's winning
33:48front yard in
33:49Hampton.
33:51But despite his
33:52experience, he's a
33:53little worried about
33:54the task ahead.
33:56Landscaped this whole
33:57backyard in one week
33:58now.
33:59I'm just really
34:00nervous.
34:05I feel it's nearly
34:07unrealistic to think
34:09that you could
34:09landscape this whole
34:10backyard in a week.
34:12Anyway, keep calm
34:14and drink tea.
34:18Keep calm and
34:20drink tea.
34:22House 2's
34:22Japanese inspired
34:23backyard includes
34:25sandstone paving to
34:26connect their custom
34:27built fireplace, pool
34:28area and pool
34:29cabana.
34:30They'll have grass
34:31around the perimeter
34:32and several large
34:33rocks scattered
34:34throughout.
34:36And to finish the
34:37space, they're going
34:38to build custom
34:39wooden arbors
34:40inspired by
34:41traditional Japanese
34:42torii gates.
34:44So torii gates are
34:46used in Japan as an
34:48entry to a sacred
34:49place or a spiritual
34:51place.
34:51They're used to
34:53separate zones as
34:55well.
34:56So we intend to use
34:57them in our garden to
34:59separate out different
35:00zones and entryways.
35:02Of course the girls are so
35:04low on budget, they're
35:06planning to make the
35:07torii gates themselves
35:08from timber available in
35:10my sawmill.
35:12They've also had to
35:13pull back on some other
35:14plans.
35:14They're no longer able to
35:15have a water feature and
35:17they'll be the only team
35:18without a sauna.
35:19Not having budget, it's
35:21hard.
35:21We all know I'm a
35:22perfectionist, so it's
35:24been really hard for me to
35:25accept that we can't have
35:27the champagne on the beer
35:28budget.
35:30I think, yeah, we're
35:32quite disappointed with
35:33the fact that we haven't
35:34been able to give
35:35Christian a bit more
35:37money to be more
35:38creative.
35:39Anyway, it is what it
35:40is.
35:41Sometimes miracles happen
35:42on a tight budget.
35:43More money, more
35:44problems.
35:48As we reach the end of
35:49the competition, Han and
35:51Can are the only ones
35:52with money problems.
35:53Most of our teams are
35:54running very low on
35:55blockbucks and with a
35:56backyard pool area and
35:58pool cabana to style
35:59this week.
36:00Last night, I had a
36:01surprise for everyone.
36:04Freedom Furniture have
36:05decided to give all of
36:07you $10,000 to spend
36:09in store if you're
36:09back up.
36:10Yeah, good luck.
36:12Yay!
36:15I absolutely love
36:16Freedom, so when
36:17Scotty announced last
36:18night that we were
36:18getting an extra 10k, I
36:20was wasting no time.
36:24Do you want this?
36:26I had seen some pool
36:28furniture that I would
36:30absolutely love.
36:33Do you need it?
36:35I think I need two of
36:36them.
36:36Two?
36:37Perfect.
36:38I got two sun
36:39lounges.
36:40I got a large umbrella,
36:41a couple of side tables.
36:43I got some lanterns.
36:45Basically everything that
36:46was left in Freedom that
36:47I hadn't bought in
36:48previous ways.
36:50Are you gonna, are you
36:52gonna, are you gonna buy
36:54it?
36:57Yeah, you've done well.
36:58Thank you so much.
37:00Didn't take me long to
37:01spend my money at all.
37:02I've still got some,
37:03actually.
37:04Keeping it in the, uh,
37:05keeping it in my back
37:06pocket just in case.
37:08And how's lunch going for
37:10you?
37:10I'm absolutely starving,
37:11so it's great.
37:14Love Juts.
37:14Who doesn't love Juts?
37:23Back at the block,
37:24Alicia's tradies are also
37:26breaking for lunch.
37:27I'm on a photo.
37:28So many hungry tradies
37:34on site today,
37:35Bunnings are keeping
37:36them fueled with a
37:37barbecue fundraiser
37:38for a local primary
37:40school.
37:41I'm so hungry.
37:43I'm on my
37:45time!
37:56There's a tree!
37:57How sick is that?
37:59Wow!
38:00In house one with
38:01their first tree now
38:02planted, Emmer and
38:03Ben are meeting with
38:04Freedom stylist Serena
38:05to discuss furniture
38:07options for this week's
38:08spaces.
38:11I popped together a
38:13couple of mood boards
38:14that we can kind of use
38:15as inspiration.
38:16I had a consult with
38:17Freedom and I went
38:18crazy.
38:19I picked some, uh,
38:20some sun lounges.
38:21I went crazy.
38:22I picked some, uh,
38:23some sun lounges,
38:25a beautiful bar.
38:26I picked some chairs
38:27to go in the backyard
38:28and a few styling
38:30options as well.
38:32Two, do you reckon
38:33two sun lounges?
38:34Two sun lounges.
38:35But after my meeting
38:37with Serena,
38:38I could see that the
38:39concrete was all
38:40getting set up,
38:40ready to be poured
38:41and it was,
38:42it just looked like
38:43a lot of concrete.
38:44Um, so I mentioned
38:45it to Ben really
38:46quickly.
38:47It's all just going
38:47to be paving.
38:49That whole thing,
38:49what are we going to
38:50put on it?
38:50It's a bit late now.
38:56House One's current
38:57landscaping plans
38:58include a large area
38:59of pavers that will
39:01flow down from the
39:02deck to the pool.
39:04The boys had just
39:05spent all morning
39:06forming all this area
39:07up.
39:08The truck was like
39:08on its way,
39:09ready to pour all the
39:09concrete, but it was
39:10killing me.
39:11I was like,
39:11there's too much
39:12concrete here.
39:13Yeah.
39:14It looks like a skate
39:14car.
39:14I know we're
39:15pressed for time.
39:16Can we potentially
39:17just put a little
39:18patch of not
39:19concrete in there?
39:22Sam suggested
39:23putting just like
39:24a big circle in
39:25the middle of it
39:26to soften it
39:27with a bit of
39:27grass, a bit of
39:28greenery.
39:29If we're going to
39:29do it, we
39:29wouldn't need to
39:30do it now.
39:31It just needs a
39:31big circle there,
39:32just somewhere there.
39:34Everybody jumped
39:35on it and marked
39:36it out, cut it
39:37all out.
39:38I'm really sorry.
39:38I know, you're
39:39cutting it for time.
39:40I think it'll
39:44look better.
39:45Yeah.
39:45Thank you,
39:46everyone.
39:46Love everyone.
40:05Monday afternoon
40:06at Backyard and
40:07Pool Week and
40:08concrete has been
40:09poured.
40:09Bathing is going
40:10down and
40:11fridges are being
40:12stopped.
40:14And over at
40:15House 4,
40:16Alicia is escaping
40:17the chaos.
40:19What are you
40:19doing in there,
40:20Alicia?
40:20You've been shopping
40:21online, are we?
40:22Yes, I'm block
40:23shopping.
40:24I need a couch and
40:25some furniture for
40:26outdoors.
40:28Tanya and Alicia
40:28are yet to win a
40:29room.
40:30However, last night
40:31they did score a
40:32perfect 10 from
40:33Darren.
40:35Love Darren.
40:37Which means they
40:38get a 10 grand
40:38cash injection to
40:39their budget.
40:42We've never seen the
40:43big bickies before.
40:44This is new to us
40:45and to be personally
40:46delivered our big
40:46bickies, that was
40:47pretty cool.
40:48Look at those
40:49bickies.
40:50Big bickies.
40:51That's cash.
40:52Wow.
40:52Thank you, aren't it?
40:56Let's talk for a moment
40:57about the luck of a
40:57win.
40:58Is it hurting or is it
41:00just something you're
41:00rolling with?
41:01We want to win.
41:02Yeah.
41:03We would love a win,
41:04but at this point in the
41:06game, we just...
41:07If it doesn't happen,
41:08it doesn't happen.
41:08There's no point in
41:09setting your heart on it.
41:09No.
41:10This week is your
41:12week.
41:12Trying my hardest.
41:13Come on.
41:14Trying my hardest.
41:15Friday, see you.
41:15See you, mate.
41:16Thanks, Scotty.
41:18Has anyone gone through
41:19the block and not won a
41:20room?
41:22Uh, yep.
41:23Season 21.
41:29Sunny and Alicia.
41:32We're losers.
41:33We're big, fat losers.
41:37It's landscape week.
41:38We've got lots to do.
41:40So, my best mate from
41:42Adelaide, Jordan.
41:45Second best mate.
41:47He's an excavator.
41:49He owns premium
41:49excavations in Adelaide
41:51and we have a lot of soil
41:53to move.
41:54So, we called him up
41:54and brought in the big
41:56dog.
41:56Oh, yeah.
41:59G'day, mate.
42:00How you going?
42:01Oh.
42:05He's a laugh.
42:06He's another version to
42:07us.
42:07We're pretty much like a
42:08tripod.
42:11Going to do some work?
42:12Do some digging?
42:13You are, though.
42:13Yeah, absolutely.
42:14That's what I'm here for.
42:15It was just that sense of
42:16home and relief and, um,
42:19you know, another face,
42:20chameleon face that we
42:21could use.
42:22And he is a machine.
42:24On the machine.
42:25Yeah.
42:25He makes me dirt.
42:26Very good.
42:27Dirt, dirty, daddy.
42:28Well, I've got to get him
42:29into induction at one o'clock
42:30and then once he's done,
42:31he's all yours.
42:32Unreal.
42:32Loving it, man.
42:33Yeah.
42:37Of course, it's the beginning
42:38of Backyard Week.
42:39The facades of the houses
42:40are now starting to take shape.
42:42We are the magic
42:44feeling in my soul.
42:45Do I have it for your soul?
42:48Take this magic to my home.
42:50This series of the block,
42:52we've got three houses
42:54where we've included
42:55James Hardy clothing.
42:56Now, the sort of suite
42:57of products allowed us
42:59to create individual looks.
43:01What I've got in the
43:02background behind me,
43:04we've got the matrix board
43:05and the darker colour,
43:06and then we've got
43:07the linear weather board.
43:10House five is Boredom Batten.
43:13Now, it's the fourth time
43:14we've done Boredom Batten.
43:16There are so many benefits
43:17and reasons why we've done it.
43:20You know, it's about
43:20the longevity of the house,
43:22plays into our sustainability
43:24and resilience theme
43:25for this year.
43:26Stefan John won the series
43:28of the block with a similar look.
43:31Fireproof, weatherproof,
43:33termiteproof,
43:34and it's going to last
43:35a million years,
43:36house four.
43:38We've used the
43:39stria cladding.
43:40Like, it really sets off
43:42the whole sort of box
43:43modern style,
43:44which is what this house is.
43:46Yeah, can't wait
43:47to see this done.
43:48We're so excited
43:48that we ended up
43:49with this house
43:50compared to others
43:51because I think
43:51it stands out on the block.
44:02So talk to me
44:03about the rocks.
44:04Oh, the old rocks
44:06slugger.
44:10So,
44:12house two,
44:13landscaper,
44:14asked us to
44:15store their rocks
44:16for them
44:16and we said,
44:17no worries.
44:18They just need to be
44:19gone
44:20by the end of today.
44:21That was last Thursday.
44:24That was last Thursday.
44:25It's now
44:26Monday.
44:27Monday.
44:32And now the fences
44:33are up.
44:34Last week,
44:35the fences by
44:36modular walls
44:36started going up,
44:38which means teams
44:39no longer have
44:40easy access
44:41between each other's
44:42backyards.
44:43You know how I got
44:44those rocks
44:45delivered next door?
44:46Yeah.
44:47And I still had
44:48a few to get around here.
44:50Yeah, you still had
44:50like four or five.
44:51You used them in the garden.
44:53I've just seen them then.
44:54They're just,
44:55they're boxed up
44:55on the other side
44:56right in the concrete.
44:57I just think
44:58that's unbelievably devilish.
45:00When the rocks were
45:01there laying next
45:02to each other,
45:03you couldn't really
45:03tell which was which.
45:05When the digger
45:06operator moved ours,
45:08I think he's picked
45:09up a couple of
45:10Christians and put
45:12them in our garden.
45:13Actually, I reckon
45:14it's really cheeky.
45:15I don't think there was
45:15two big ones of mine
45:16that went in there.
45:17No, no, no.
45:17There's not.
45:18No, no.
45:18I haven't got none
45:19of your rocks.
45:20I've got natural field,
45:21Granny.
45:21Yours are blue.
45:23They're minor hill view.
45:24Yeah.
45:24I've got no hill view.
45:26I would never
45:26contaminate my rocks.
45:28I'd only heard
45:28that Christian was
45:29quite the sole
45:31Namaste guy.
45:36He wasn't very
45:37Namaste about his rocks.
45:40There's some
45:41in the landscape
45:41that you've used.
45:42Yeah, I think there's
45:43four in the landscape.
45:44It's just so
45:45cheeky.
45:45That's OK.
45:46Regardless,
45:47they're not getting
45:47shifted now
45:47because you can't
45:48get them out.
45:49You can't take
45:50an escalator over
45:50all the Rio.
45:53Our point of
45:54difference to the
45:54landscape is these
45:55rocks.
45:56OK.
45:56And now they're
45:57in your landscape.
45:58I was like,
45:58Bro, they all look
45:59the same to me.
46:01A rock's a rock.
46:03Well, the thing is,
46:03we were lovely enough
46:05to be able to store
46:06your rocks for you
46:07guys.
46:07Yeah.
46:07And for longer
46:08than the day,
46:09the deal was we
46:10would have the rocks
46:11there till the end
46:11of that day.
46:12Yeah, that's right.
46:12And they're actually
46:13still there.
46:14So I think,
46:15if anything,
46:15we've been doing
46:16you guys a favour.
46:18Does that entitle
46:19you to use the rocks?
46:20Or someone just
46:21had to grab you?
46:21That's OK.
46:22We just agree to
46:23disagree and we
46:24get on with it.
46:25It wasn't like,
46:26we're still in these
46:27rocks.
46:27No.
46:27It was just like,
46:28They were next to
46:29the rocks of ours
46:30that looked exactly
46:31the same.
46:32As I was saying,
46:33our point of
46:33difference are those
46:34rocks.
46:34Yes.
46:35And those rocks
46:36are now in your
46:37garden.
46:39Yeah.
46:39Finders keepers.
46:40Yeah.
46:41Losers weepers.
46:42Tough titties.
46:43Monday's MG getaway.
47:00We went to the
47:01lake house at
47:02Dalesford.
47:05Wow.
47:07This is
47:08amazing.
47:11Luxury.
47:12Luxury.
47:13This is
47:16stunning.
47:17Look at this view.
47:21That face is
47:22absolutely insane.
47:23Cheers, mate.
47:25Cheers.
47:26Cheers to the
47:26celebration.
47:28Celebrating the
47:29cellar.
47:30And three
47:31tens.
47:31And three
47:31tens,
47:32obviously,
47:32yes.
47:33Off to dinner,
47:33so we were
47:34lucky enough to
47:35sit in the
47:36library area
47:36with Scotty.
47:38Just because
47:38you've got
47:39three tens,
47:39we've got
47:40beluga caviar
47:41donuts.
47:42Nothing
47:43starts the
47:43night like a
47:44beluga caviar
47:45donut.
47:46You don't get
47:46that every
47:47day.
47:48That's because
47:49you've got a
47:4930 out of
47:4930.
47:51And then a
47:52special guest
47:53arrived.
47:55Hey, guys.
47:56How are you?
47:57In comes Dave
47:58Franklin.
48:03Award-winning
48:04landscaper Dave
48:05Franklin first
48:06appeared on the
48:07block in 2012.
48:09Over the years,
48:09he's worked with
48:10several teams to
48:11produce some
48:12amazing landscaping.
48:13And his designs
48:14have taken out the
48:15win five times.
48:19In recent years,
48:21he's come on board
48:21as a judge,
48:22and on Sunday,
48:23he'll be scoring
48:24the team's
48:25backyards.
48:27I hear you had
48:27a big win last
48:28night, so I've
48:29got a surprise
48:29for you guys.
48:30We had a great
48:30week.
48:31Do you want
48:32to do the
48:32honours?
48:33And there it
48:33is.
48:33$10,000 thanks
48:35to MG.
48:36Wow.
48:37Oh, there you
48:37go.
48:38We can talk
48:38about what
48:39you've got to
48:39do with this
48:39$10,000 on your
48:40garden.
48:41Show me the
48:41plans.
48:42We're pretty
48:42lucky.
48:42We're sitting
48:43down with
48:43Scotty and
48:44Dave Franklin
48:45going over our
48:46landscaping plans
48:47for this week,
48:48so that's a
48:48huge advantage.
48:50I do love the
48:50fireplace.
48:51I think it's
48:52something that's
48:53out of this
48:53world.
48:54It's how to
48:54make that work
48:55with the pool,
48:56the pickleball
48:56court and
48:57everything like
48:57that.
48:58He gave us
48:58lots of advice
48:59on plants and
49:01layout as well
49:02as we need to
49:03put in some
49:04mature trees.
49:05I would be
49:05trying to get
49:06something that
49:07looks like it's
49:07been here for
49:0810 years.
49:09Something that
49:10tells a story,
49:10plus block your
49:11neighbours out.
49:12So don't be
49:13scared of buying
49:13something at
49:14four or five
49:15metres torque.
49:16When you have
49:16someone like Dave
49:17with his years of
49:18expertise and
49:19knowledge giving
49:20us a bit of a
49:21clear direction,
49:22that really
49:23helped.
49:23Oh, you asked
49:24me to drop
49:24this off.
49:24Oh, this I
49:25did ask you to
49:25do.
49:26That's a
49:26footnote for
49:26the lake
49:27house and
49:27toolbox with
49:28big bickies
49:28on that.
49:30Because the
49:31boys scored
49:31three 10s last
49:32night with a
49:33perfect score,
49:3430 out of
49:3530, they also
49:37get a massive
49:38cash injection
49:39to their budget
49:40thanks to
49:41Arnott's.
49:41Three lots of
49:4210.
49:4430 grand.
49:46And there's
49:47another 10.
49:47Hey, there it
49:48is.
49:49Let me just
49:49say there's
49:49no secret
49:50gnomes or
49:50anything in
49:51here.
49:51No, there's
49:52no gnomes.
49:53Cheers.
49:53Congratulations,
49:54boys.
49:55Cheers to you.
49:56Well done,
49:56guys.
49:56Thanks, mate.
49:57Welcome, Dave.
49:58Thank you, Dave.
49:58Cheers, mate.
49:59Cheers.
50:08We're ordering
50:09macas for
50:10chumps dinner.
50:10Oh, mac indeed.
50:12I'm thinking
50:12like 10
50:14big macs,
50:1510 large
50:15fries.
50:17How many
50:17chumps dinners
50:18have you guys
50:18attended?
50:19How many
50:19weeks have we
50:20been here?
50:21We are yet
50:21to miss a
50:22chump's dinner.
50:22I think we
50:23are basically
50:23the king and
50:24queen of
50:24chumps.
50:25Chump and
50:25chumpette.
50:27Dinner is
50:2910.
50:30Lucky
50:30dicks.
50:31Yeah, it's a
50:32big day on
50:33Mondays, you
50:33know, you've
50:33got your walk
50:34arounds and
50:34then, you
50:35know, some
50:36head builder
50:37might come and
50:37yell at you.
50:38It's not a
50:38wine cellar.
50:39If you make it
50:40more of a wine
50:40cellar and not
50:42a bar, then
50:44the building's
50:45going, okay,
50:45cool, that's a
50:46wine cellar.
50:47Did everyone
50:48get approval
50:48today from
50:48the surveyor?
50:49Because the
50:50surveyor was
50:50coming around
50:51today, remember?
50:51Like to make
50:52sure the sheds
50:52were above
50:53board.
50:54The question
50:54was asked about
50:55if everyone's
50:55compliant, we
50:56just sort of
50:57stayed silent.
50:58As the weeks
51:00grow on, your
51:01battery is more
51:02drained, you
51:03are more
51:03fatigued.
51:04For us, right,
51:05if people are
51:06constantly coming
51:06at us, it
51:07does feel
51:08personal, so
51:08we're just
51:09sort of pulling
51:10back a little
51:11bit to protect
51:11our own space
51:12and try and
51:12enjoy these
51:13last few
51:13weeks.
51:14And it
51:15seems Brit and
51:16Taz aren't the
51:17only ones who
51:18are choosing to
51:19be tight-lipped
51:19with their
51:20neighbours tonight.
51:21There was
51:22some chatter
51:23around secret
51:23gnomes.
51:25Yes.
51:26There's
51:27definitely a
51:27secret there.
51:28You reckon?
51:29How long
51:30have you had
51:30the gnome?
51:31We've had
51:32the gnome
51:32since Domaine,
51:33so Domaine
51:34was like week
51:34eight.
51:35So we've
51:36found a
51:36secret gnome.
51:38So there's a
51:38bonus point.
51:42We don't
51:42have it.
51:44The boys
51:44could have
51:44it, though.
51:45The boys
51:45could have
51:45it.
51:46I want
51:47the gnome.
51:48We're doing
51:49a very good
51:49job at
51:50playing
51:51along and
51:51pretending
51:52that we
51:52don't know
51:53even what
51:53a secret
51:54gnome is.
51:55The secret
51:55gnome's
51:56different.
51:56You have
51:57to say,
51:57hey,
51:57Scotty.
51:58We want
51:59to play
51:59our secret
51:59gnome,
52:00and everyone
52:00like,
52:00what?
52:01Oh,
52:01really?
52:01Yep.
52:02So we're
52:03definitely
52:03going to use
52:03the gnome
52:04on fun
52:04day?
52:04Because we
52:05can't use
52:05the gnome
52:05next week.
52:06The gnome
52:06is deleted
52:07after this
52:07week.
52:07So we
52:08have to
52:08play it.
52:11Everyone
52:11feeling
52:12good for
52:12tomorrow?
52:13Excited
52:14for more
52:14obstacles to
52:16overcome
52:16tomorrow.
52:17And yeah,
52:18let's
52:19see what
52:19goes wrong.
52:21Who's ripping
52:22up their
52:22concrete
52:22tomorrow?
52:26Tomorrow
52:26night,
52:27the question
52:28is answered.
52:29About 10
52:29mil over
52:30100 mil.
52:30This may
52:31have to be
52:31ripped up.
52:32It looks like
52:33we're going to
52:33have to lose
52:34all this
52:34paving.
52:34Pulling up
52:35the slab of
52:35concrete was
52:36the last
52:37thing that we
52:37wanted to do.
52:38Oh my God,
52:39are you serious?
52:41Devastatic.
52:45Iceberg!
52:46Dead ahead!
52:47Also, the
52:48backyards continue
52:49to take shape.
52:51It's the biggest
52:51wood on the
52:52block, my
52:52arbor.
52:54Now that's an
52:55arbor.
52:55That's huge.
52:58Art, Han and
52:59Can struggle to
53:00get on the
53:00same page.
53:02Candace has
53:02just snubbed the
53:03cabana.
53:04I'm not doing
53:05what everyone
53:05else is doing.
53:06And where does
53:07that get us?
53:07The bottom of
53:08the leaderboard.
53:09The cabana
53:09is the cabana.
53:10And that is
53:11all it shall be.
53:12Oh my God,
53:12Candace, you're
53:12driving me
53:13absolutely bonkers.
53:14Please stop.
