Seven Buddhist monks, including three foreign nationals, were killed in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka, on Wednesday (Sept 24), after the cable holding their cable car snapped.

00:15A police spokesman said a total of thirteen monks had completed religious observances
00:20and were returning to their monastery when the accident occurred.
00:24The remaining six monks were injured.
00:26Local media reported that the foreign victims were from Russia, India and Romania.
00:31Police said the monks had been packed into the carriage when it crashed.
00:56Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
