00:00China says it will no longer claim developing country status under the World Trade Organization
00:07agreements, a change long demanded by the United States. The developing country status gave Beijing

00:47Commerce industry officials said the step was an attempt to boost the global trading system
00:51at a time when it's under threat from tariff disputes and protectionist policies. The WTO's
00:57head praised China's decision and called it key to reform. But the European Commission

01:17status under also existing agreements.
01:20China is currently a middle-income country although has increasingly provided loans and technical
01:26assistance in infrastructure projects around the world.
