00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led a crucial briefing today to ensure the preparedness of government agencies
00:06as the country continues to recover from the effects of Typhoon Nando and braces for the impact of Typhoon Opong.
00:14Here is the latest on the government's disaster response efforts and the current situation on the ground as our Patrick DeJesus reports.
00:22President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is satisfied with the preparations made by concerned government agencies
00:33as he presided over a situation briefing at the NDRMC in Camp Aguinaldo on the effects of Super Typhoon Nando and the Southwest Monsoon
00:44as well as the anticipated landfall of tropical cyclone Opong.
00:48The President also ensured that adequate assistance will be provided to those affected by the storms.
00:56Nagpa-situation briefing siya kung may kinakailangan na augmentation na galing sa DBM, maagapan natin.
01:04We have sufficient reserves for the QRF at sufficient pa yung emergency funds ng mga agencies.
01:13Preparations also include addressing the already saturated ground due to continuous rains brought by successive storms.
01:22The inter-agency coordinating cell has been activated in advance to ensure faster coordination among government agencies.
01:31Sana naman hindi gaano lumakas itong si Opong para sa ganon medyo ma-spare tayo ng konti but we have to prepare for the worst case scenario.
01:43As the lead in disaster response, Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., who also chairs the NDRRMC, expressed dismay over corruption issues in flood control projects.
01:56Talagang, unang-una, ito ay sala sa bayan. Mapatunayan talaga kung sino may kinalaman dito dahil buhay talaga nakasalalay dito.
02:06Secondly, it should serve as a lesson din na ang flood control ay national government initiative yan.
02:15Ngayon, itong pera na ito, sana napunta sa tama, whether sa national defense or resilience ng communities, kaya ito dapat may managot dito at credible yung proseso.
02:33Dapat may magbayad dito.
02:34Meanwhile, the reported debt toll has risen to 11 due to the combined effects of tropical cyclones Mirasol, Nando, and the Southwest Monsoon.
02:44Among them are three individuals struck by debris in Calayan, Cagayan, and Morong, Bataan.
02:51One landslide victim in Tuba, Benguet, and seven fishermen in Santa Ana, Cagayan after their fishing boat capsized.
02:59Around 156,000 families or 692,000 individuals have been affected, with more than 24,000 people currently staying in evacuation centers.
03:11Patrick Deasuz, from the National TV Network, for a new and better Philippines.
