00:00US President Donald Trump warned Europe illegal migration was destroying European heritage
00:06in a long-ranging speech delivered at the UN General Assembly.
00:10The European Commission is calling for a drone defence wall along the EU's eastern flank
00:15after several drones shuttered Copenhagen Airport for several hours.
00:20A new report claims US President Donald Trump is seeking to impose his political agenda and
00:26views on his European allies.
00:29Israel shutters the Allenby border crossing between the West Bank and Jordan from Wednesday,
00:35the sole land route Palestinians in the West Bank can use to travel abroad.
00:40US President Donald Trump warned Europe migration was destroying their countries, said he solved
00:46seven wars worldwide and suggested he win a Nobel Peace Prize in a long-winding speech delivered
00:53at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
00:57We've collected some of the highlights here.
00:59I'm the President of the United States, but I worry about Europe.
01:02I love Europe.
01:03I love the people of Europe and I hate to see it being devastated by energy and immigration.
01:12This double-tailed monster destroys everything in its wake and they cannot let that happen
01:17any longer.
01:18You're doing it because you want to be nice, you want to be politically correct and you're
01:23destroying your heritage.
01:26Trump also claimed he solved seven long-time wars across the globe.
01:32Likewise, in a period of just seven months, I have ended seven unendable wars.
01:40They said they were unendable.
01:42You're never going to get them solved.
01:44Some were going for 31 years, two of them, 31, think of it, 31 years.
01:49One was 36 years, one was 28 years.
01:53I ended seven wars.
01:59Elsewhere, he suggested he should win the Nobel Peace Prize.
02:04Everyone says that I should get the Nobel Peace Prize for each one of these achievements.
02:12But for me, the real prize will be the sons and daughters who live to grow up with their
02:17mothers and fathers because millions of people are no longer being killed in endless and unglorious
02:24wars.
02:25But he saved some of his harshest criticism for the United Nations itself.
02:32As we do now, not only is the UN not solving the problems it should too often, it's actually
02:40creating new problems for us to solve.
02:43The best example is the number one political issue of our time, the crisis of uncontrolled
02:48migration.
02:49It's uncontrolled.
02:52Your countries are being ruined.
02:54The United Nations is funding an assault on Western countries and their borders.
03:00This was a humanitarian act for all involved.
03:08The European Commission is calling for a drone defence wall along the EU's eastern flank after
03:14several drones shuttered Copenhagen Airport for several hours.
03:19But still, for those who still doubted the need to have a drone wall in the European Union,
03:27well, here we get another example of how important it is.
03:30The latest attacks in Romania, in Poland, in Estonia, now in Denmark, four member states have been
03:37targeted.
03:38And this is precisely why we will be working on this drone wall.
03:40As mentioned by Anita, Commissioner Kubilius will meet with the seven frontline member states.
03:45I named them yesterday.
03:46Here we go again.
03:47Estonia, Latvia, Finland, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria.
03:52And I can now add to that list also Denmark, of course, on top of Ukraine.
03:58Many thanks.
03:59Carl.
04:00Danish leader Meta Fredriksen called the drone incident the most serious attack yet on the
04:07country's critical infrastructure and said Russian involvement could not yet be ruled out.
04:12The Commission says the drone defence project, first outlined by Ursula von der Leyen, will
04:19unite eight countries, including Denmark, Poland, Romania and the Baltic states, to detect and
04:24respond to aerial incursions.
04:26Recent months have seen Russian assets violate the airspace of Poland, Romania and Estonia.
04:34EU officials say the incidents show Moscow is testing the boundaries of European borders
04:40and prove the bloc cannot hesitate to act in the face of Russian aggression.
04:51A skilled drone pilot flew two to three large unidentified drones over Copenhagen airport
04:57on Monday night, shuttering airspace.
05:01Authorities said there were no signs the drone pilot intended to cause harm, yet didn't rule
05:06out the possibility that the incident was part of a Russian hybrid attack.
05:12The drone incident the same evening also forced all traffic to move to one runway in Norway's
05:17capital, Oslo.
05:18Det er nu, venner.
05:20Jamen, mistænker du Rusland for at stå bag?
05:35Vi har set hackerangreb på europæiske lufthavne her hen over weekenden.
05:55Flights at both airports resumed early Tuesday, though with delays and cancellations.
06:02Det er, synes jeg, ekstremt alvorligt, når man lukker en international lufthavn ned i næsten fire timer.
06:09Det er vores kritiske infrastruktur her.
06:27Officials said they would look into whether the incidents in Norway and Denmark were connected.
06:34An EU official said the pattern of the incident fits similar ones in Poland and Estonia,
06:39where Russia carried out what they described as reckless actions over other countries' airspace.
06:45Moscow has denied involvement in the incidents.
06:48U.S. President Donald Trump is seeking to impose his agenda and political program on Europeans.
06:59This is what a report published by the European Council on Foreign Relations concluded on Tuesday.
07:05Norway tensions, the military defense of the Old Continent and the White House's support for far-right groups
07:10are all factors that are prompting EU leaders to react rather than set their own agenda.
07:16To this analyst, this is an admission of weakness on the 27-member bloc's part.
07:21I think that, of course, it's European leaders, governments, institutions who have given plenty of room
07:28to be humiliated, whether it concerns the tariff war with the U.S. or the NATO summit and the question of boosting spending on defense,
07:41or the way in which European leaders are treated in peace negotiations concerning Ukraine,
07:48where they basically need to knock on the door so that anyone listens to them, otherwise they are not in their room.
07:55European sentiment remains strong despite the political blows dealt by Trump.
08:00According to the latest data, public confidence in the EU is at its highest level since 2007,
08:06and expectations seem to have also evolved.
08:09In many places where people used to consider the EU mostly as an economic being, as a trading bloc, as a market,
08:19they started realizing that Europe has an important role in terms of geopolitics, relations with other global powers,
08:29but also in terms of a defense of democratic values that are in danger both externally and internally in Europe.
08:36According to the report's author, Trump has several relays in Europe.
08:41The leaders of Hungary, Italy and Slovakia have made no secret that they're ideologically,
08:47and maybe even personally, aligned with the 47th U.S. president.
08:54Israel shuttered the Allenby border crossing between the West Bank and Jordan from Wednesday,
09:00the only land route Palestinians in the West Bank can use to travel abroad.
09:06Officials on both sides confirmed the shutdown but gave no reason for the closure.
09:13The crossing will remain closed until further notice.
09:18The move comes just days after a Jordanian truck driver killed two Israeli soldiers in a gun and knife attack.
09:25The crossing had only recently reopened to passenger traffic.
09:33Known in Jordan as the King Hussein Bridge, the Allenby crossing is also the main route for
09:38commercial goods between Jordan and the West Bank.
09:43Its closure is expected to have a major impact on both Palestinians and trade flows in the region.
