00:00Good evening and welcome to the grand finale of the traitors Ireland uncloaked with me Kevin McGahern
00:0524 players 12 episodes six traitors three coffins and only one party
00:10What a series so fun Lynn as we debrief that dramatic last episode with all our finalists. Wilkin. Are you following this so far?
00:19Fair play to you. But before we go any further
00:21If you haven't watched the final episode of the traitors do that now on the RT player as this episode will be dropping more truth bombs than
00:27iron at a round table
00:30Coming up we will have Siobhan McSweeney here to give us the lowdown and all the carry-on in the castle
00:36We will chat to the traitors turned faithful slayers Nick and Ben to unpack that final day
00:41And the winners Vanessa iron and Kelly will be here for their first ever interview. Don't go anywhere
00:47What a finale we'll be chatting to the finalists very soon
00:58But now we are joined by the queen of the castle the magnificent Siobhan McSweeney
01:03All right, all right, that's actually that's like 20% too much. Yeah a bit much guys will rehearse it again
01:24Siobhan how are you first of all I am
01:27I am
01:29Overwhelmed and bewildered actually
01:31I'm really it's this is the first time I've seen I've just called them my babies
01:35I've just seen all the contestants there and it's really gorgeous to see them all
01:39And I have been away in a bubble filming something else
01:44So I really haven't been you have minute you don't know the mania that is sweeping across this country
01:50I really don't imagine if all four Beatles were just potty. That's basically
01:54That's the level of hysteria was imagine all the number of films we'd have about
02:01Well that finale was unbelievable was it as emotional for you as it was for the rest of us. Yes. Yes, I think I think what some oh
02:10I I think what people need to
02:13Understand is that we all went through and I think our lovely contestants would agree
02:19The production team and myself and we we went through it with them. We were working the same hours
02:25I mean nobody was working as hard as potty
02:28Although nobody ate as much as potty either
02:31So I think he got his wages from sandwiches
02:34Well, he needed the energy the poor man didn't sleep more than 45 minutes for two weeks
02:38I think but we were all doing it together and it like a really felt like we were together. So
02:44It by the end we were all at our very last shred of sanity. Yeah. Yeah, we were all demented
02:51The the series was very Irish from the cupola fuckle to the cup on tea to the ole ole and don't even talk about the Carson
02:58I
03:00Now have one final important question to ask you
03:04Would you like a cup of tea?
03:08Oh
03:10Tea. Tea. Tea. Tea. Tea. Tea. Tea. Are you having tea? No. Don't drink tea or coffee. That makes you a traitor. You don't drink tea or coffee. What the hell. Okay. Grand. It's grand. That's grand. Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ. Fuck. Oh fuck. Shit. I fucked up. Wished. Tea for. Joke. That's fucking nasty. So it is. Stop fucking saying that. I know we're fucking fake. Oh fuck. Excuse me. I'm sorry. I'm not a fucking awkward.
03:42We had to give potty the last words what is it about the show that made it feel particularly Irish to you
03:50Well, I think I think we it's such a well-known franchise really and the whole challenge is to
03:58For it to be as good as the other one. Yeah, and also to put our own mark on it really
04:02So it was really lovely that we were able to have the cuplofocle that we a lot of the iconography was very Celtic
04:08The ohm I love the ohm. Yeah, yeah, and and lots of other things like even the the school benches BQ
04:15Yeah, with the little ink pots. That's right. Yeah PTSD getting into them, you know, I couldn't get into them then can't get into them now
04:23But for me personally it had to do with like all the Irish designers that I really wanted to can we have a round of applause for the outfits?
04:38there's such
04:41There's such a wealth of talent in this country and we tend to think that we know what that is because we're usually trying to sell it to the yanks
04:50Yeah, but actually there is such a wealth of talent when it comes to
04:54Textiles and fashion and it's not just literature
04:58but if you noticed even last night's episode a
05:00Beautiful kimono that I was wearing had Cara Dielish written on it and we'd felt or written on things there were there were little easter eggs
05:08There that's only added to the design, so I'm really proud that I got to on my
05:14Lumpin beautiful self got to showcase a few Irish designers, you know
05:18Well, they were fabulous. I've got to say thank you very much. We have to talk about our three OG
05:24Traders
05:27OG crew
05:28Starting with the only female traitor
05:32Lovely
05:33You weren't like that before I tell you
05:38Starting with our only female trader Caitlin. Yeah, how do you think she managed with the other two lads on either side?
05:44There was not a bother to her what I what made me giggle about Caitlin was the way she came in like Pippi Longstocking
05:50Hi, I am innocent
05:52I've never do you like my earrings
05:54I wear pigtails
05:56I must be non-threatening one of the smartest
06:00most powerful
06:02Women I know just looking at her don't don't don't don't don't don't don't absolutely extraordinary
06:07But God bless you for thinking a few flowery dresses would
06:11Convince us otherwise, but by God you were well able well able for for the two boys, and I mean like
06:18Eamon was
06:20Extraordinary I mean I think Eamon like the biggest villain we've had ever yeah, I mean move over Cromwell
06:27But what I loved about Eamon is that Eamon for me
06:34And he's just behind the camera there, so I can't see him. We see glaring at me. No you are my beautiful boy and
06:41The thing about Eamon which I found so interesting because remember I was learning along with you as well
06:46You know like we were all guinea pigs this time round weren't we next year if there is one next year what'll it be like
06:53Yeah, anyway
06:55Hats lots of hats
06:57But Eamon went in with a game plan didn't he and he was like and I was like there's something about this show
07:04That if you go in with a game plan you're almost like look at Paul D. I don't think Paul D.
07:09And look how long he lasted so it's almost a question of being able to adapt on the hoof
07:16You know there was a real three different approaches to Paul D sort of wrote you like a jazz musician
07:21Like he was just going day by day. What's happening now? Okay, I'm moving this way. All right. No, I'm gonna move this way
07:27Yeah, Eamon Eamon had a strict
07:30Sort of plan that he wasn't gonna deviate from
07:33And I wonder whether that was how he was found out at the end, you know, like do you need to be more flexible?
07:39It's very interesting. Yeah, but also how are you to know until you go in there?
07:42Do you think Paul D is a genius?
07:48I do
07:49I can't trust that answer after the longest laugh in the world
07:54Will you be voting for potty in the coming election?
07:56Oh, but I'm running his campaign
08:01I'd like to live in a country run by potty. It's like free sandwiches at every bus stop
08:08Like no parents no parent would ever say who their favorite child is. Yeah, but come on. Who's your favorite child?
08:15Oh, I couldn't say Diane
08:19Oh
08:23What?
08:24What is it about Diane you love so much?
08:26Well, there's there's two and my favorite what I mean is sort of like people who I wish I saw a bit more like Diane
08:33You were absolutely wonderful and Diane for me you are the epitome of a kind of Irish woman that I don't see enough of on telly and
08:41You should have been there longer and also what I loved about you is that you were completely authentically yourself
08:48And so the eyebrows going up
08:50You were being accused
08:53I was like
08:54Somebody explained the rules to Diane
08:57You were absolutely out there
08:59Why are they trying that's the game Diane that's the game
09:03And no, I thought you were wonderful and I was gotcha to see you go you have you've an absolutely wonderful energy about you and I enjoyed you immensely
09:11I also really enjoyed Joe
09:15Yeah, I really
09:17And I mean I say I I you know I'm picking the two of these obviously you know that I loved every single one of you and do you give a damn anyway whether I do
09:32You've been their mother figure for the last four weeks and that is why we're a nation of dysfunctional people
09:42But that final day was incredibly tense. Yeah, it kind of became the girls versus the boys. Yeah, do you have any inclination as which way was gonna go?
09:51No, I didn't but like that was this the whole way through we I've never I've never done a job like this before and by the end I was saying I will never do it
10:01Like this again because you would start your day
10:05In the middle of the night and you did not know when you were going to finish work for that day
10:10Yeah, you just did not know you would think every single time I went into the round table going I know what's going to happen
10:16The production team would go we know what's going to happen
10:19We know how many cars we need or what a Lola and like maybe tell catering we don't need the sandwiches at midnight. I would know
10:26It would all change we could never ever ever call it. I think that's why it was such an enjoyable show to
10:33Yeah, yeah, you just couldn't tell well
10:35You brought so much to this series from your fabulous costumes to your fierce one-liners. You have been the ultimate queen of the castle. Let's remind ourselves
10:42Let's remind ourselves
10:44Hello lovelies
10:46Let the good times roll
10:48Oh, what an outfit
10:50I'm obsessed with everything Siobhan wears
10:52Hiya
10:53Oh, hey
10:55Oh
10:56Apologies to have in a bath
10:58Nick and Ben
10:59You were nowhere near
11:01Nowhere near it at all
11:02Like honestly dudes
11:04Welcome to my little sanctuary

12:09Another two people
12:10Who brought energy
12:11Of a very different kind
12:12Were our traitor slayers
12:13Turned backstabbers
12:14Where there's Nick
12:15There's Ben
12:16This little bromance
12:17Was like shooting a 65
12:18Around the golf course
12:19At the weekend
12:20Whatever the fuck that means
12:25An emotional
12:26Rolling around the bed
12:27And a load of 50 euros
12:28I'm so close to Nick
12:29In here
12:30That's my thought
12:31On every breakfast
12:32Is he gonna be there
12:33There's no denying Ben
12:34Is my best mate in here
12:35He's had my back
12:36I don't know how many times
12:37Why do you think it's me
12:38You'd be like wanting to save me
12:39If I'm a traitor
12:40You're the first person who goes
12:41Because you'll see straight away
12:42The change in me
12:43I really don't know who it is
12:45I really don't know who it is
12:46I think I'd leave you out of it
12:47So Ben, do you accept?
12:48I accept
12:49Did he look after me
12:50Or did he look after me
12:51Or did he look after me
12:52Looking forward to getting him on board
12:53Working with him
12:54And murdering
12:55Welcome to the conclave
12:56How are you feeling?
12:57Happy to be here
12:58How are you feeling?
12:59Happy to be here
13:00Now that I'm looking across
13:01How are you feeling?
13:02Happy to be here
13:03Now that I'm looking across
13:04How it is with me
13:05You're both very delighted
13:06Aren't you?
13:07Yeah
13:08Couldn't have worked out better
13:09I don't think no
13:10Awe
13:33Nick and Ben
13:34Nick and Ben
13:35What a series
13:37We both had
13:38From faithfuls to traitors
13:39But at least you had each other so when exactly did you both realize that you'd found the one?
13:46Straight away. Yeah, it was like
13:50I gotta I gotta ask the synchronized arrow pull that looked rehearsed
13:55No, I actually naked doing it actually I think when we got a trailer before I can't remember which one and I was like
14:00It was a beautiful synchronization. I gotta say you got so far in the game lads. Did you get too cocky in the end?
14:13Yes
14:20Describe
14:22Just describe how you were feeling on that last day
14:25Well, it's a mixed emotion and we obviously the admission was incredible. It was incredible to share with obviously our friends and
14:33But there's the thought in the back of your mind of what's to come and every roundtable was so intense
14:38So we knew eventually what was to come and yes
14:41Yeah, and also you're thinking about what happens the previous night as well
14:44Yeah, so kind of when everyone's coming in for breakfast knowns as you can see as you could say no one's really talking or it was awkward
14:51Yeah, so it was like the breakfast after a wedding after somebody like punched a bride
14:55Yeah, exactly
14:56It's like
14:57That's the crosshands
14:58Yeah, yeah, yeah
14:59Nick, I gotta say though I like that last roundtable where there was a lot of heat on you
15:04Like the girls came with receipts
15:06They were on you, but you remained I gotta say very very cool and collective. I don't know. I would have crumbled
15:13Yeah, I probably pushed about a little bit too far for that. I'm probably
15:16God much, but like I had to fight my corner. I had to go for it. So it was never gonna back down
15:21We wanted to we wanted to give it our all so
15:24All or nothing have to try and win, but ultimately they called us out in our BS
15:28We were both shocked with that though because when we were talking we thought they were gonna come for me
15:32So then you can see actually in the show when they say I think someone goes for Nick and he's like
15:38Because he wasn't expecting us. We were ready to defend Ben
15:41So I'd like this pitch for Ben. I was like let's go and then she comes to me and I was like oh fuck
15:45Well, we got a bone to pick with you over Faye like lads. He's you backstabbed your best friend
15:52How could you have done that? It's a it's like a panto audience?
15:58We am yeah
16:00We did we struggled with this with this one for ages because obviously the name of the game is to get to the final and get the money
16:05And we were on one side Faye was on the other so for us to win it
16:09We would have to do it eventually. Yeah, so it was a mercy killing
16:12Yeah, well, we actually didn't know what would be worse taking her to the final and having to do it or or doing it then
16:18But so basically you did her a favor
16:20You're welcome
16:27Yeah, no, it was it was horrible like we felt terrible for yeah, like you can see in a reaction
16:31We totally see we didn't want to do it, but it is still just a game
16:35So do you think though if you kept her in you could have won 100%? Yeah, but yeah
16:41There's that confidence. I was talking about earlier
16:43Yeah
16:45I still the fact that we don't know we all I still felt anyway
16:49We could still do that and possibly win the game as well
16:52We might have had a better chance if we had kept there, but yeah, I don't know
16:56It felt like it just slipped away when we did it though
16:58It was it just with her strong Owen was at that table. She was incredible and it just felt like we had to go that way to save face a little bit and
17:06When when we obviously got rid of Faye then it was kind of like, okay
17:10We're we're really gonna struggle now to pull the wool over there. They were so smart those three of them
17:14Yeah, so so hard to get by them and obviously they they they caught us
17:19Well Nick you were the man responsible for taking out future president of this country poddy
17:23Have you anything to say to the nation who are still in mourning? I know it's tough poddy was poddy was poddy
17:32That could mean anything
17:34And I meant exactly that
17:36No poddy poddy played a brilliant game like well
17:39I didn't mean to go for I wanted to like go on longer with poddy and obviously Pat called me out and
17:46The day before with the letter rip I had Andrew there and I should have the next day gone for poddy
17:50But I didn't because I I was trying to be loyal in that moment
17:53So it kind of came across like I was going for poddy and he he thought I was going from but I really wasn't
17:57But I was just trying to make sure there was no suspicion on me. So it had to go that way
18:01I think Paul II thought I was going for him, which I really wasn't boy. Oh my god
