00:00A drone lets off, showing off its agility in flights.
00:06This is Taiwan's latest Jingfeng attack drone,
00:09a domestically developed weapon on display at a recent defense exhibition.
00:14It's designed for high-speed strikes, delivering precision attacks,
00:18and effectively disrupting enemy operations.
00:21It reflects Taiwan's ongoing efforts to meet the demands of modern warfare
00:25amid growing military pressure from China.
00:28This January, Taiwan held live-fire drills to show the public
00:33the military's defense readiness over the Lunar New Year.
00:37But an image released by Taiwan's official military news agency
00:41suggests they may still be relying on outdated concepts
00:44to counter a modernized People's Liberation Army, China's armed forces.
00:49Joseph Wen, a PLA intelligence analyst who first raised the issue on social media,
00:54says that China reorganized its motorized infantry regiments
00:58into combined arms brigades back in 2013.
01:01But Taiwan's military continues to base its operational planning
01:05planning on the PLA structure prior to its reforms.
01:08If we're still using the military reform
01:11to determine the enemy's weapons,
01:13this may cause some error.
01:16Taiwan's Defense Ministry has acknowledged
01:18the need for further improvements.
01:20the military's weapons.
01:41So what's the difference between a motorized infantry and a combined brigade?
01:47A motorized infantry regiment has a simple structure, consisting mainly of infantry.
01:53But a modernized combined brigade combines multiple units and branches such as reconnaissance, air defense and artillery battalions,
02:01giving it greater operational capabilities.
02:11The second one, it can perform a multi-fighting battle, and it can perform a multi-layered mission.
02:19As Taiwan ramps up its defense through increased weapons procurements and indigenous production, intelligence is equally crucial.
02:27As a thorough understanding of the battlefield and enemy movements is essential to using those weapons effectively.
