00:30Congratulations Team World
00:35A great performance in some unbelievable tennis over the past three days
00:39Andre and Pat, you've led your team to success in your first year
00:43Can you tell us how you're feeling right now?
00:47Andre
00:47Very proud of these guys
00:50I mean, they laid their heart on the line
00:52I mean, on paper, a lot of people would have said they didn't see an inroad to pulling this off
00:58But we shocked the world
00:59And we only did it because of them
01:02Now we shocked Team Europe
01:03Yeah
01:03You either were
01:04That's a good point
01:07Totally, you should thank you
01:09This is champagne
01:10And what was your question again?
01:17How are you feeling right now?
01:18Listen, everybody played a part in making this one of the most memorable weeks
01:23I've ever spent on a tennis court
01:26And I can honestly say that
01:28And that's saying something
01:29Because it was a lot of years I've been out there in one form or another
01:34With a perceived team
01:36But this really was a team
01:38And so proud of the guys
01:39I mean, just unflappable
01:42They never stopped believing
01:44I'm going to say one thing because I won't say anything else
01:47Yeah, when Andre asked me to come along
01:50We had a bit of a vision
01:51And as you said on paper
01:53Andre, we looked a bit thin
01:54And the boys came along
01:55And they pulled hard
01:56And they just showed you how competitive it all is
01:58Amongst these guys
01:59And I've been removed from tennis for quite a long time
02:02And watching these guys play was incredible
02:04And their confidence and self-belief in this team
02:07Was what made it all happen
02:09The buy-in that they had in with Andre and myself
02:11Whether it was individual or together
02:13It worked really well
02:15It was pretty seamless
02:16And I just hope they go away
02:19And we hope that we have some buy-in with these guys
02:23For the rest of the year, as we said
02:24And whenever they want to call up
02:26And have a chat
02:28Or how we can help them
02:31We want to make this event
02:32One of the greatest teams events there is
02:34And I think it's already established nearly as that
02:37I know time takes us time to get tradition
02:41But it's not far away
02:42And the way this event was run
02:44I loved it
02:45I loved these guys
02:46Because they put their heart and soul out there
02:49And they bought into it
02:50Made Andre and I buy in
02:51Andre, thank you for asking me to come along, mate
02:54Because we've got a history
02:55And I'm going to enjoy rekindling that relationship
03:02So anyway, I had a great time
03:04Thanks
03:04Thank you
03:05Yeah, Pat
03:06Some questions?
03:09How's your ear, Dean?
03:10Oh, sorry, I had a question
03:11I got my bandage off
03:16And it's looking great
03:18I'm sorry
03:19I'm sorry
03:21That was my fault
03:22Taylor, I just want to ask you about your journey this week
03:26You arrived here obviously not feeling very good
03:29I think some people were even wondering whether you'd be here
03:32And then you have this just incredible run play
03:35Maybe a couple of the most memorable matches of your career
03:38Yeah, I mean, it's amazing to just do it for the team
03:43I mean, in all honesty
03:44Like I got here
03:44I feel like I had recovered
03:46And I felt pretty good after being sick of Davis Cup
03:50But I
03:50Yeah, I've been feeling good since I've been here
03:54And it's
03:54Like I said, amazing to do it for the team
03:58And a great feeling to clinch it in the end
04:02It really just kind of is like the, you know, the perfect end to a great week
04:06I was feeding the ball unbelievable this week, by the way
04:10It was
04:10And hitting
04:11One more for Taylor
04:14You had some unreal net stats the last couple of matches
04:17Like 16 for 20 against Carlos
04:1823 for 26 tonight
04:20I know you work on that all the time with your coach, Michael Russell
04:22But has working with a great follower like Pat
04:25And having Andre's inside maybe unlocked something for you
04:27In that perspective?
04:28I still think coming in that sucks, to be honest with you
04:31But this week I was able to make it work
04:35And I think a lot of that is just more
04:36Just like being a bit more aggressive from the ground
04:39It just makes the volleys a bit easier, you know
04:43And I think
04:44I don't know what happened on that match point
04:48Because normally that would be like
04:50A really, really tight volley for me
04:52But for whatever reason
04:53I was just calm, calm doing it
04:56Maybe that is them just being there
04:58Just to Fonseca
05:02You are the young among all the players
05:05And your first Levy Cup victory
05:07You've already mentioned that
05:09Like it's a great week for you to learn from the guys
05:11What did you learn exactly
05:13And how are you going to use this experience
05:15In the coming weeks
05:16From the Tour event?
05:18I mean
05:19Sorry
05:23He's an idiot
05:24But I think
05:27That also
05:30But I mean
05:31I think
05:32Everyone has their own
05:35Great things and bad things
05:37And I think
05:39I'm still young
05:40So I'm still developing a lot
05:41So I really
05:43Want to thank all the team
05:45For
05:45Helping me a lot
05:47To understand
05:48How it is to
05:50I mean
05:51This week
05:52All over the year
05:54We are opening
05:55And then this week
05:56We open for each other
05:58We talk about weakness
06:00We talk about strength
06:01So thanks a lot
06:03For opening with me
06:03And
06:04Thanks for letting me help
06:07So yeah
06:08It was a great experience
06:10Taylor
06:12You beat Carlos last night
06:15On a Saturday night
06:15Then you got to play again
06:16On a Sunday night
06:17That can kind of
06:18Go one of two ways
06:19You can have a letdown
06:20After the 24 hours
06:22Or you can
06:22Have a new swagger
06:24To your game
06:24And when you walk out there
06:25I think we know
06:26Which way it went
06:27But did that kind of
06:28Go through your mind
06:29Like how
06:29To kind of avoid
06:31The letdown
06:31Of last night's adrenaline
06:32Yeah I mean
06:33It's going to be
06:34It's going to be tough
06:34To come back
06:35And play like I
06:36Like I played yesterday
06:37You know
06:38Funny thing
06:38In the
06:39I was leaving the hotel
06:40I saw Roddick
06:41Who I haven't really
06:42Spoken to too much
06:42In the past
06:43And he said
06:43You know
06:44Don't worry
06:45Like you'll play better
06:46You'll play better today
06:47You know
06:47Joking about how
06:48How well I played
06:49Against Carlos
06:50But
06:50You know
06:52At the end of the day
06:52We got to pick
06:53The lineup for today
06:54And
06:55We sat down as a team
06:58And I was the one
06:59That wanted to put myself
07:00In the slot
07:01That I put myself
07:02And so when it comes
07:03Down to it
07:04I just have to
07:07I just have to perform
07:09And it's a mashup
07:10That I obviously feel
07:11Somewhat
07:13Comfortable in
07:14So you know
07:15No matter what
07:15I was just going to
07:17Compete as hard as I could
07:18For the team
07:18And do
07:19You know
07:20Do everything I could do
07:21Okay
07:23Last question
07:24Hey Andre
07:26Congratulations to the team
07:28And to you
07:29And many of the team members
07:32Have been saying
07:33How much they
07:34Learned from you
07:35And we all know
07:37That you're one of the
07:38Greatest students
07:39This game has ever had
07:40What are some of the things
07:42That you have learned
07:43From this experience
07:45And from these guys
07:46And from coaching
07:47Yeah I mean
07:49It's a great question
07:50I mean if I start with one
07:51I've got to go to all of them
07:52Because I swear
07:53I've learned something
07:54From each one of them
07:55I'm starting with
07:56You know
07:56How they
07:57Somewhat process
07:59And
08:00But I think the common theme
08:02That I took away
08:04From this group
08:05Quite frankly
08:06Is just how
08:08Confident they are
08:10In what they can do
08:12On a tennis court
08:12You know
08:13And it's not delusional
08:15You know
08:15I mean
08:16It's really
08:17I mean
08:18It can be delusional
08:19I mean
08:19I guess
08:20Depending
08:21You know
08:22I mean
08:22Going into a different
08:23Environment
08:24Different court
08:25We didn't really know
08:26Exactly how heavy
08:27The balls were going to get
08:28For a couple days
08:29And then they start
08:29Playing 25 ball rallies
08:31You know
08:32Ripping the felt off of it
08:33And those things
08:34Turn into beach balls
08:35Which changes
08:36Shot selection
08:36All sorts of stuff
08:37And you know
08:38But it was amazing
08:39To watch their calm
08:41In the midst of storms
08:42And
08:42Yeah
08:44What I learned
08:46Is kind of
08:46What I continue to learn
08:48Which is
08:49Try to
08:49Try to do more
08:50Listening and talking
08:51And
08:52Try to
08:53Try to stay out of their way
08:55And if
08:55And if
08:56They notice you
08:56Hopefully it's only because
08:58You know
08:58You're adding
08:59Or keeping their eyes
09:00On the
09:01On the
09:02On the prize
09:03Or on the purpose
09:03And
09:04But they all do that so well
09:05I don't think anybody would be here
09:06Unless they'd done it
09:07That's why
09:07That's why we picked them
09:09Sorry
09:10We've got one more question
09:11We can celebrate
09:12Just curious
09:13For all of you
09:14Who are visiting
09:15San Francisco
09:15For the first time
09:17What you thought
09:18About the place
09:18Before you came
09:19And after spending
09:20A week here
09:21What your thoughts
09:21Are leading
09:22Airport
09:25Hotels
09:26That's the life of a
09:29Is this
09:30Has anyone else
09:31Been here for the first time
09:32Or is it just me
09:32I'm from California
09:34That's kind of embarrassing
09:34Yeah
09:35Yeah
09:37I've never actually
09:38Spent any time here
09:38But it's
09:39It's been really incredible
09:40I love
09:41I love
09:43I love the kind of hilly
09:44You know
09:45That's kind of how it is
09:46In the downtown
09:46It's very hilly
09:47And it kind of reminds me
09:48Of Portugal
09:48Which is one of my
09:49Favorite places
09:50And
09:51Yeah
09:52I mean also
09:52Winning
09:53Helps
09:54Helps you look at the place
09:56A little better
09:56It makes everything
09:57All the bad things
09:59Look good right
09:59So
09:59You know
10:00You can win anywhere
10:01And think the place is great
10:02And I think
10:02Everyone here
10:03Would agree with that
10:04So
10:04Yeah
10:05Okay
10:08Can we just have one photo
10:10Of you
10:10With your little trophies
10:11By the big trophy please
10:13And then you can take
10:14Your little trophies with you
10:15Yeah
10:16Standing up
10:16How's it now
10:17Doing
10:18Yeah
10:19No way
10:20Does it have some book
10:22Thank you
10:22It does
10:23Thank you
10:23Merci.
10:53Thank you, Team World.
