01:32The question, the final question was basically, Kai's can't do any more than just go out and try and win every race
01:40Yeah, basically that's the plan, so
01:41He's trying to get to the front as quickly as possible
01:43And then put the pressure on Angelfeld, who's going to have to turn it up himself
01:48And with that comes risk versus reward in many respects
01:53But DeWolf wasting no time from fourth to third to second
01:58All in the space of the opening lap
02:00As he goes after, Sasha Coonan, the gap between them, just 1.7 seconds

04:13Rebel KTM Factory Racing, looking comfortable, was strong in the heat in China
04:17to win the second race one week ago.
04:22So he's clearly not faced by the hotter conditions.
04:25But the longer you stay in these kind of conditions, heat, humidity, and see, the more you get used to it.
04:33Riders will go running.
04:34They might find a bicycle somewhere and go ride.
04:38Just being out and about.
04:40So it was the same last week in China.
04:41Yeah, they would have arrived probably on Thursday, but being here all week.
04:46Certainly adaptant.
04:48So no one really having that much of an advantage now, perhaps, in that respect.
04:52Good ride this from Raizlis, hanging on in that fourth place at the moment on the Monterey Yamaha.
05:00Number 47, that's the term where he made a mistake a lap ago that allowed Ferrez to go by.
05:08Dropping down into the final little right, left, right, just before pit lane.
05:12D'Armo switches to the outside, tries to find something.
05:21But Raizlis hanging on to that fourth position at the moment.
05:25Two laps complete.
05:26Kunin sets the fastest lap.
05:29Not a lot in it between him and DeWolf, but Ferrez goes even quicker.
05:33Ferrez fans his chances here, doesn't he, for a qualifying race win.
05:35Start of the weekend, I was thinking, right, we've had eight riders win a quali race.
05:42Will we get a nine?
05:43And you think, well, the guys that have won on a Saturday,
05:47can't really see another win coming from anybody else.
05:50But again, Ferrez might try to change that here today, if he can, at this final race.
05:58Impressive this, though, from Sasha Kunin.
06:01First 17 rounds and all of his previous MX2 career, no pole position, no qualifying race win.
06:08And that's two rounds, Turkey and China.
06:11He's gone 1-1 back to back.
06:13Can he make it three in a row?
06:16Obviously the pennies dropped, something has clicked somewhere.
06:24But we're still around 14 minutes plus two to go in this MX2 qualifying race.
06:29There's still a way to go to determine the outcome of this first race of the weekend.
06:40DeWolf not really gaining at the moment, 1.3.
06:43He is behind Sasha Kunin.
06:46Was there a mistake here?
06:49Oh, yeah, massive one.

06:53That's why that gap has gone out.
07:00It's been a heart in the mouth moment for him and everybody watching on pit lane.

07:57Tell you what, he was quick to hit the back break there to stop any kind of fall.
08:01So him and DeWolf both having a moment in the last couple of laps.
08:04As that brought DeWolf back into play.
08:15Gap was 2.3 seconds a moment ago.
08:19But there's DeWolf right there homing in on him once again.
08:21Paws are out, ready to pounce.
08:27Langfelder fifth.
08:31As it stands right now.
08:32Gap down to 13 points, Langfelder on 8.90, DeWolf on 8.77.
08:42DeWolf will be taking nine points out of this qualifying race.
08:47Langfelder will be taking six points.
08:50That's where you see the swing of three points in favour of DeWolf.
08:55Just looking down the timing screen.
08:57Walvoort in 17, disqualified for accepting outside assistance.
09:02So I'm not sure where that was on the racetrack or when.
09:09But Raceless here in fourth place.
09:11Under attack from Langenfelder who's looking to try and pull back another place and therefore another point.
09:17Downhill very soft in that part of the racetrack.

09:41Ah, Langenfelder gets his elbows out, charges down the inside of Raceless, moves into fourth place.
09:50Bit of a slow burner this one for Langenfelder.

10:06Just knows he's got the speed, the ability and all those things in check.

10:19About a second and a half.
10:22Unless the Wolf's had a good final sector out on this lap.

10:31Almost identical lap times that time around.
10:39Think like power to weight ratio and all the rest of it.
10:42Massive advantage for Sacha Koonen.
10:44When you think of how much heavier Kaida Wolf would be.
10:47Especially getting out some of those turns up those hills early on.
10:52Nangenfelder now to fourth, Adamo fifth.
10:55And Raceless down to sixth.
11:01So a cruisy ride at the moment for Langenfelder is
11:13lapping quicker than Guillaume Ferez.
11:14So there's still potential for him to find his way into third.
11:19This is the problem, isn't it?
11:20When you've got two riders very similar in speed and pace to Wolf and Langenfelder,
11:25you do rely on riders around you to get involved in the mix.
11:29Yes, Ferez is doing that at the moment.
11:31But can Ferez stay there in third and deny Langenfelder another point?
11:37Where it is at the moment, Langenfelder looking like he's in the ascendancy.
11:40Bottom of the hill through this right, left kink.
11:54He's got Perez exactly where he needs him.
11:59Sacha Koonen though, working his way into the final turn at the end of lap six.
12:05Knows he can't afford to switch off because DeWolf will be right there.
12:10His teammate, Langenfelder in fourth place.
12:15So if he can provide to be a good wingman.
12:16Keep DeWolf at bay then, can't ask any more than that, can you?
12:27Dahmer not able to stay with these two at the moment.

12:44Langenfelder looking to go around the outside.
12:46Again, doesn't look rushed, it just looks very measured and patient.

13:07DeWolf would have had the inside line and then swept across.
13:11Took the line away from Koonen.
13:14Moves into the lead on lap seven.
13:16Ten points on the line here for Kai DeWolf.
13:19So as we move into that, the end of lap seven.
13:40Sasha Koonen now in second position.
13:43Kai DeWolf, your new race leader.
13:45And the gap already going out to more than one and a half seconds.
13:50At the start of lap eight.
13:54And DeWolf with the fastest lap of the race, 139.8.
13:56Here's how he did it.
13:57Cut back to the inside.
13:59There was a slight mistake there from Sasha Koonen.
14:01Didn't get the wheels on the ground early enough.
14:03And DeWolf, well that's all he needed,
14:04but he's done all the hard work just to get himself onto the rear wheel.
14:10Advantage DeWolf, pressure on Langenfelder,
14:12but he's still there in that fourth place.
14:14Half a second behind Perez.
14:15So even if he finds his way into third,
14:18that gap between DeWolf and Perez will still be sort of as it was, if you like.
14:27DeWolf will take ten points.
14:28Langenfelder, as it stands right now, takes seven, eight if he finds his way past Perez.
14:35But Ndamo here going after Langenfelder.
14:37Yes, they're two Red Bull KTM teams, but they don't ride for the same team.
14:44You've got, obviously, the DiCali side, the Austrian side.
14:46Langenfelder riding for the DiCali team.
14:50Perez right there ahead of him in yellow for Monster Energy Triumph.
14:53Adamo looking for a way down the inside as well.
14:56He doesn't care about Langenfelder.
14:59He still believes he can take second in the championship,
15:01and every point is going to count for him.
15:02But Langenfelder fights back immediately.
15:05So too does Adamo, and then so too does Langenfelder.
15:09Proper tear up between these two.
15:17DiCali doesn't know which way to look as Adamo comes back for more.
15:21You're running hot, but then you get squeezed on the exit.
15:23This is the right-hander just before pit lane.
15:25Great battle between the two KTMs here.
15:37Pace up to 15, Wolvolt 16.
15:38Latter has gone missing a couple of laps ago.
15:41He's down in 17th place at the minute.
15:45Eight laps in the books.
15:47DeWolf, 2.4 seconds clear of Koonen.
15:50Langenfelder was briefly into third.
15:52Perez has regained that third place.
15:55Gap down at 13 points at the moment.

16:19Just to keep his championship alive.
16:21Remember, he's the reigning, the defending champion.
16:25Sasha Koonen trying to put up a brave fight.
16:38So too is Kevin McClellan all over the back of Rick Erlzinger.
16:43These two fighting for eighth place at the moment.
16:56As we charge downhill, Carlos Raceless just ahead of them.
17:00So two Monster Energy Yamahas and Monster Energy Triumph.
17:06But McClellan going after the Dutchman here.
17:11And then the Latvian ahead of him.
17:12And he does carve his way up the inside.
17:14But there's going to be a returned pass here.
17:17I'll tell you what, you don't see that work very often.
17:19And Elzinger had to get his elbows out there.
17:22And he hold on.
17:25To that eighth place.
17:26Watch this here, McClellan thought he got the line.
17:38And then all of a sudden, Elzinger just said no.
17:40So forcing McClellan wide.
17:42And their battle continues with two and a half minutes to go.
17:48Plus two laps.
17:54The DeWolf now three and a half seconds clear of Koonen.
17:56Perez third, Langenfelder fourth.
17:58Adama fifth, Valant sixth, quiet race for the Frenchman.
18:08Kawasaki racing team, seven.
18:11We've got to race this, Elzinger and McClellan,
18:13pretty much locked together.
18:15This is the back end of that battle between Elzinger and McClellan,
18:18eighth and ninth.
18:28We're going to go around the outside again.
18:41No way through there though.
18:48McClellan, being made to work every single point out here at the moment.
