Protesters gather outside Disney studios, LA theater in support for Jimmy Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel supporters gather outside Disney studios in Burbank and the El Capitan Entertainment Centre on Sept. 18, 2025 to protest ABC's decision to suspend his late-night show. Kimmel's remarks about slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk had angered many, and the reaction reached a fever pitch on Sept. 17, including death threats that raised concerns for the safety of Kimmel and his staff, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters. His supporters say Kimmel said nothing wrong and blamed ABC and Disney for censorship, calling the decision to take him off the air an attack on freedom of speech. As the show's 4:30 p.m. taping time approached, Disney CEO Bob Iger and Disney Entertainment co-Chairman Dana Walden agreed that the best approach would be to take the show off the air and later find a way to bring Kimmel back, the source said. Walden informed Kimmel of the decision.

00:13He stated the facts, and he has been stating the facts for quite a long time.
00:18And he's being censured for nothing more than speaking out.
00:22Hey, excuse me, see if I'm doing the fine?
00:26Yeah.
00:27And that's not the country that my parents came here for.

00:34I love America.
00:35And one of the reasons I love it is because you can say and express anything you want.
00:40And to see such innocuous comments get penalized this way is just really heartbreaking.
00:47It sets a dangerous precedent.
00:49I think that if the government can control the media, then we slip dangerously into the
00:57fascism.
00:59What has happened with Stephen Colbert and now Jimmy Kimmel is absolutely atrocious.
01:06This huge corporations that are just bowing to government pressure and capitulating over
01:13and over and over again is just another of many signs of the fascist rot that has taken
01:19over in the center of American government.
01:21It's absolutely something that must be stopped.
01:25It's just another domino falling showing us that fascism is here.
01:29That when Donald Trump tries to send a message, when he tries to send a message by silencing
01:41Jimmy Kimmel, he is trying to send a message to everybody, watch what you say.
01:47No matter how big you are, no matter how beloved you are, he will take you down and make an example
01:54of you.
01:55And we are here to say, hell no.
01:59You're here to say, hell no.
02:09You're here to say, hell no.
