00:00U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday welcomed the suspension of talk show host Jimmy Kimmel
00:07and suggested networks should lose their licenses for negative coverage,
00:12further inflaming debate over free speech.
00:15Who would you like to see replace Kimmel on the late night?
00:17A lot of people, anybody could replace him.
00:20The guy had no talent.
00:21Kimmel had, look, he was fired, he had no talent.
00:25He's a whack job, but he had no talent.
00:27And more importantly, the talent he had, because a lot of people have no talent, they get ratings.
00:32But he had no ratings.
00:35His ratings were worse than Colbert, I think.
00:38They got rid of Colbert, which is a good thing to do.
00:41Kimmel became a flashpoint after mocking Trump and accusing allies of slain right-wing activist Charlie Kirk
00:47of exploiting his September 10th assassination.
00:51Trump supporters have warned Americans to properly mourn Kirk or face repercussions.
00:56On Wednesday, ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel live, indefinitely after conservative outrage over Kimmel's Monday monologue.
01:05In that segment, Kimmel accused Kirk's allies of using his assassination to score political points
01:11and mocked Trump for turning a question about mourning Kirk into a plug for his new White House ballroom.
01:16The move sparked condemnation from Barack Obama, writers and actors' unions, and civil liberties groups who called it government-driven censorship.
01:26During a state visit to Britain, Trump again attacked Kimmel alongside Prime Minister Keir Starmer, calling him a horrible guy with no ratings.
01:35A 22-year-old Utah student has been charged with Kirk's murder.
01:38Since returning to office in January, Trump has escalated threats against broadcasters, repeatedly suggesting licenses should be revoked,
01:47despite the FCC being barred from punishing networks for critical content.
01:52That's something that Jimmy talked about for licensing, too.
01:55When you have a network, and you have evening shows, and all they do is hit Trump.
02:01That's all they do.
02:03If you go back, I guess they haven't had a conservative one in years or something, somebody said.
02:08But when you go back, take a look, all they do is hit Trump.
02:13They're licensed.
02:15They're not allowed to do that.
02:16They're an arm of the Democrat Party.
02:18Critics, including the ACLU, say the administration is attempting to silence dissent and control what Americans watch.
02:26Obama warned the pressure campaign has reached a new and dangerous level.
02:38For the people who have been, they're sick of two people.
02:49So when you go back, take a look, all they do is hit.
02:50They're not allowed to do that.
02:52Whatever.
02:53They're not allowed to do that.
02:54That's right.
02:56They're not allowed to do that.
02:59So when you're at risk, you'll be about to do that.
03:01So when you have an emergency case, you're going to be a parent,
03:04I'm going to be a parent.
03:06So when you go back, take a look,
