La serie The Hunting Party
00:22fue idea de este par de amigos, JJ Bailey y Jake Coburn, y para su buena fortuna está al aire en
00:27Universal Plus. So, how are you? Thank you very much for your time. Good. You look very much like you're
00:36in the radio business. Are you a host of a radio show? I'm the host of a TV show. A host of a TV show?
00:43The microphone gave me away. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, it looks like a good setup. I like it. So, I'm very
00:49interested in how things get started, you know? We set out very intentionally to do a show that was
00:55sort of in this space, but was going to feel a little different. We both want to do something
00:59that's left the center, something that's going to sort of push into maybe the the weirder space of
01:05psychology as opposed to, you know, Criminal Minds is a show that's been around for a long time and they
01:10do what they do very, very well. We don't want to be another Criminal Minds. We want to be
01:14something different. Sure. The show features several, let's say, crowd pleasers, you know, serial killers,
01:20FBI agents, profilers, soldiers, agents. From the get-go, how do you choose how to balance,
01:27you know, all the POVs? When you make a show, you're kind of making the show you want to watch
01:32that you think is the most entertaining and fun. And like, to a certain extent, that's kind of what
01:37we're doing. We're following our own instincts as to like what we think would be the most fun for us.
01:42And that's a good indicator of which direction to go when JJ and I come up with an idea or somebody
01:47pitches an idea that we hear and we're like, oh, that's exciting. Like, you know, it's physical.
01:51You have like a physiological reaction. Physical reaction to it. Yeah. Yeah. But to your point,
01:55there are a lot of different ways it could go. And one of the exciting things about our show is the
02:00fact that we do know who the killer is out of the gate. So we can spend time in the killer's POV,
02:04right? But we do have our central cast that are our heroes of the week and we want to spend time with
02:10them. And it is that, you know, every episode is sort of dialing one up or one down. And are we going to
02:15see more of the killer this week or we can see more of the killer? And it is sort of finding that
02:19balance. And it's honestly, most of the time, 99% of the time, it's just whatever tells the best
02:24story. Man is the apex predator, ain't he? Not him. Her.
02:35This show, especially working with Universal, the possibilities for spin-ups and prequels and
02:41things of the sort are endless. It's humongous. I hope so. I hope so. For your sake, I hope so, too. If I asked
02:49you right now, okay, give me an idea for a prequel or spin-off. What character or what part of the show
02:56would you think would be best for this? Man, it's a tough question. Honestly, we're so focused on making a good show.
03:02You know, I mean, we joke around a lot of about a lot of different versions in the writer's room sort of
03:07happen. Yeah. But ultimately, like, we're just so focused on making the best version of the hunting
03:12party that we can. If something like that was to come down the line, of course, we'd be so thrilled.
03:16But I think every character of our main cast has such a cool story that honestly, to get the opportunity to
03:23explore any one of them in a different capacity would make me, you know, beyond throw.
03:27What kind of research goes into writing this?
03:29We find the dark corners of the internet.
03:35Be careful with the internet, you know what happens.
03:37Yeah, yeah, yeah. We, you know, we read a lot of books, we read a lot of articles,
03:41listen to a lot of podcasts. Luckily, crime and true crime is, there's a lot of material out there.
03:47There's a lot of content, especially nonfiction content that is, you know, good inspiration.
03:53I'll be rooting for the second season, the prequels, the spin-offs, the everything.
03:57I think I'm out of time. So guys, thank you very much for yours. I really enjoyed this.
04:04Yeah, thank you so much. Wonderful to meet you, man.
