00:00I don't think Breslau is getting fired because I think he did have a good offseason.
00:04And for a guy like him to have a good offseason, yeah, another pants crapping at the trade deadline.
00:10And something that he's going to have to own and he's going to have to wear.
00:14But it's going to be easier to throw this on Cora than it is on Breslau, assuming that they blow it.
00:20I'm speaking in the subtext of assuming that it's already been blown.
00:25And if that's the case, then Breslau will get some heat for it.
00:30He'll get heat for the deadline, sure.
00:32But Alex Cora is going to take a lot of heat for another collapse.
00:36He is.
00:37And maybe you don't think that's fair.
00:39The injuries are not his fault.
00:42And you might be right.
00:43But eventually this becomes a pattern.
00:45It becomes a trend.
00:46It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy in a way.
00:50That's what happens when it just keeps happening over and over and over again.
00:53Even the year that you made it to the playoffs and you went on a deep run, like you still collapsed in September.
00:58It always happens, except for 2018.
01:01But one year it didn't.
01:04As for his job security, I don't think that it's going to be in jeopardy.
01:10I don't.
01:12But I think that if they do miss the playoffs here, that it should be.
01:15I mean, I just, you know, I'm not someone that likes to come on here and call for a job.
01:19But I just don't think any manager would survive having that happen five straight years.
01:23I just don't think they would.
01:24And I don't think they should.
01:25I don't think anyone should.
01:26That's a, that is a, it's more than a trend.
01:30I mean, that's just, that's just who you are eventually.
01:32It happens five straight years.
01:34Then eventually that's just who you are.
01:35And that's not to say that Alex Cora doesn't have other great qualities as a manager.
01:39He certainly does.
01:39And I thought yesterday he had a great, great day, a great night, I should say, pulling the
01:45right strings, going to the right bullpen arms, pinch hitters, all that stuff.
01:49But you can't just hide behind that as the team fades away for the umpteenth straight year
01:57with him in charge.
01:58I just, I don't know.
01:59I mean, I think that's, that's how it's going to be looked at.
02:02And even though he's got this nice contract and is, you know, locked up for a while, I
02:06just think that that's, you know, got to be something that is in play here because there
02:11has to be consequences of some kind for this just continuing to happen year after year
02:15after year.
