Why Judy Reyes Doesn't Necessarily Want 'Scrubs' Costars on 'High Potential'

00:00As an actor of the show and a fan, what was your reaction to see how the Roman story unfolds this

00:05season? As it continues to unfold, I suspected that we continue to look for him. I thought that

00:14we'd find him this season, but we don't. So I'm excited to find out how the rest of the team is

00:18involved, because now we incorporate Soto's team into the search for Roman. So I'm interested in

00:25seeing how it affects their story arcs and how they become engaged in helping Morgan

00:31find Ava's dad. Yeah, because you did mention that we don't find him, so I will. We haven't

00:37found him. Okay. We haven't found him. Don't get excited. We haven't found him yet. We haven't

00:43found him. But I did want to ask then, if you haven't found him yet, if you could fan cast

00:47him, is there anyone you would like to see in the role of Roman? Sure. Wow.

00:55Let's see, like a Michael B. Jordan, Mackay Pfeiffer type. Yeah. You know, like really

01:01Michael B. Jordan might be a little young. Ugly actor would be great. Ugly, untalented

01:06guy. I'd like that. Okay. I love that. Well, speaking of fan casting, I did want to say

01:11we haven't met Selena's family yet. So I did want to fan cast that with you as well, because

01:15should we have someone from Scrubs play her husband? Like, should we have Donald or maybe

01:19kind of Zach come in and really, and really freak us out as like, if you're a Scrubs fan,

01:24you know? No, that would be so weird. That would be so weird since we're going to be seeing

01:27them this season and Carla, but no, not, not one of them, but her family, like a partner

01:32or children. I haven't really made the investment in that thought. Let me see. Um, I don't think,

01:39I think she has children. I don't think she's married anymore. She could be a widow or an

01:45ex of somebody. So who would my ex be? Like a Benjamin Brad or something like that. I've

01:50been a fan of his since I was in diapers. Not that long since the beginning. Well, I am

01:58curious because you did kind of mention like, we don't actually know her family. Did you

02:02create a backstory for her kind of? For myself? Yes. Yes. As I said, for me, as I see, uh,

02:08Selena Soto, she's definitely got grown children and, uh, is either, um, widowed or divorced.

02:15I haven't made that decision, but it's no longer partner to the point where her job is her life.

02:21And it's kind of made an impact on her personal life. So these people, this team are her family.

02:26Um, and, um, worked very hard from the bottom up to prove herself, to be taken seriously,

02:35which I think contributes a lot to the conflict that she experiences with, uh, with the chief,

02:40the chief Wagner, um, things that she's had to do that she's already done that people like him don't.

02:46Yeah. You know, um, and she stands firm in that. And in that, that is what, um,

02:52created the space for her to give Morgan a chance. Yeah. And so in addition to high potential,

02:57you also are returning for scrubs. I have to ask, how are you going to balance both of them?

03:01Um, it feels like so much more work now to kind of take on two shows.

03:06Of course it is. Of course it is. But I have no complaints about that. Um, actually,

03:09ABC has been really wonderful about creating space for me to actually do scrubs. Um, it's a

03:15four episode recurring arc. So that makes it very doable. And, and because they're both on ABC,

03:21ABC Disney, um, they're working together to make it possible. So I'm very grateful.

03:25And were there any kind of storylines that you were hoping to explore on scrubs?

03:29I was, I was just telling everybody that I just got the, the script today. Yeah.

03:34So I'm not sure what I know is that, uh, Turk and Carla are still together and they got four kids.

03:40Okay. And they work at Sacred Heart still. Um, and the three leads have three interns of their own.

03:47Yeah. And, uh, Dr. Cox is coming back.
