00:00Yakutia, where the winter temperatures can drop to as low as minus 71 degrees.
00:06How do they keep warm and what is the life like? Today I will take you inside a Yakutian house
00:12built by the owner himself. Radomir and his wife Isabella are residents of Yakutia.
00:20They just finished building a new house for their youngest son. Although it cost them
00:25about 15,000 dollars to build it, they are very happy that their son finally has his own home.
00:46Like all the homes in Yakutia, their son's home was built from large wood,
00:50a durable waterproof material that can withstand Yakutian's harsh winters, warm summers,
00:56and everything in between. To preserve the houseworms and keep the freezing air out,
01:02every gap in the outer structure is filled with moss, which acts as insulator.
01:06This is an insulator for the houseworms.
01:09It's a lot of water, it's a lot of water, it's a lot of water,
01:13it's a lot of water, it's a lot of water, it's a lot of water.
01:17The windows in Yakutia are also unique. In order to protect the home from the cold, the windows have
01:47two layers and are also insulated with moss.
01:50We have two layers and are also insulated with moss.
02:17Radomir back home and it's time to heat the house. As with all homes in the village,
02:22there is no gas heating system in place.
02:27Radomir must work tirelessly to keep his house warm using firewood in order to heat the house
02:32three times a day for nine months straight.
02:45During the long-lasting winters of Yakutia,
02:47residents burn more than 30 cubic meters of firewood on average.
02:52To heat the house, Radomir uses a brick heating stove that he built himself.
02:57Having a properly built heating stove is essential in Yakutia, as it serves a variety of functions
03:03that are crucial to survival visiting a Yakutian home.
03:05We have a lot of water, and we have a lot of water, and we have a lot of water.
03:18Yakuts believe in the spirit of fire, as fire plays a key role in surviving such long and harsh winters.
03:24As a way of worshipping the fire spirit,
03:27locals perform the rite of blessing by feeding it with traditional Yakutian pancakes.
03:40You probably never think about how taking a shower can be luxury elsewhere in the world.
03:45People here don't have water showers because pipes freeze during cold and long winter.
03:49We have a lot of water, and we have a lot of water.
03:58Radomir and his family use the best house with a heating stove and a steam room for showering.
04:04They also make use of the snow from their yard as a water,
04:07and to use the steam room they must wait at least five hours until it's heated to the right temperature.
04:12And his wife can feel full of water.
04:18They sólo see if they put the environment on the table.
04:19They are a place, under fire, and close water.
04:21The otherane Paperasta, and bilder they are addinc мод to this dish of rice.
04:27They also manifest vegetables in their life.
04:30And to so forth I tell them the animal.
04:33God's Ultundan a wood line comes back into theikancer of the fence
04:35They tell the homeless a warm water, such as the living area.
04:36He claim the gathering for four days of thousands of VM.
04:39Toilets in Yakutia are located outside, and therefore locals tend to use them at very
04:47last minute in order to lessen the amount of time they have to spend in the cold.
05:01The freezing cold temperatures in Yakutia also come with some advantages. The locals have no
05:07need for a conventional freezer as the temperatures outside are more than cold enough. The shed is built
05:12a few meters above the ground. An inventive radimer also used overturned buckets on steels to prevent
05:18mice from entering it and munching entire food.
05:37Despite the harsh climates, most people in the village are engaging the cattle and horse breeding.
05:53Yes, they are spending their life breathing.
05:59Visiting that number of people and can heat out the ground.
06:02.
06:02They are walking the ground of the sand.
06:07They are walking the ground of the ground.
06:09These are the birds in the middle of the ground.
06:11The birds put in a flower.
06:16They are on the ground.
06:22Every year, during the short summer, Radamer and his family work hard to harvest all the hay they will need for the winter months, and Radamer's son Kesha is always there to help his family.
06:48We have a lot of people who live in the world and have a lot of people who live in the world.
07:02Although it's cold, life in Yakuti is very peaceful.
07:06There are only around 800 residents and it's a very close-needs community.
07:11There is a theater, a billiard hall and even a local nightclub. Radamer loves playing billiard with his friends and they even participate in local billiard competitions.
07:26Now Radamer is heading to the local grocery store, which is the only grocery store in the entire village.
07:41However, Radamer and his wives do not buy much from here as they tend to use their own fresh home ground ingredients.
07:49While Radamer makes his way home, Isabela has already prepared a delicious dinner, traditional beef soup, fatty Yakuti and pancakes and freshly made sour cream.
08:02Unsurprisingly, eating regularly is essential to increasing energy for Yakuts during the cold winters.
08:08This is what life is like, living in the coldest village on Earth.
