00:00The Red Sox have something in Connelly early.
00:02So I want to say yes.
00:03I also thought they had something right away in Peyton Tolley after his first start.
00:07And then he followed that up with a not so great start.
00:09Not the case for Connelly early.
00:11It is the same team though.
00:12So you do have to factor that in.
00:14He does dominate the A's.
00:16Right.
00:17If Tolley got two starts against the Pirates, maybe that would have looked differently.
00:20But you could also argue that it's a major league lineup.
00:23And the first time it was a group that hadn't seen him.
00:26Now it's a group that has seen him.
00:28And so maybe they'd be able to get to him and they didn't.
00:30So yeah, I like to think so.
00:32I mean, these are two guys that sort of got fast-tracked up through the system.
00:36And what's not to like?
00:38We've only seen two starts.
00:39He's given up one run thanks to Weissert in 10 and a third.
00:42He's not walking anybody.
00:44He's striking a bunch of guys out.
00:45Seems to have a bunch of different pitches that are effective.
00:49So yeah, I like him.
00:51I'm not going to go crazy and be like,
00:53hey, you don't even need to bring Giolito back next year or whatever.
00:55But if you have the three guys at the top of your rotation back,
00:59obviously Bayo and Crochet are back.
01:01We'll see what happens with Giolito.
01:03But if you have Tully and Early or whatever, I'll take that.
01:06Maybe Harrison.
01:07And maybe Harrison.
01:08And honestly, competition's good.
01:09Let those guys kind of fight for it.
01:11And whoever the two best guys are in spring, get the job.
01:14But another name that I certainly wasn't factoring into a potential playoff run
01:20or like the rotation to start next year.
01:22He wasn't on my radar.
01:23I mean, look, Peyton Tully wasn't on my radar in April.
01:25But that's a name we had heard about throughout the year.
01:28Well, because we kept also hearing towards the trade deadline,
01:30he's your top pitching prospect.
01:32So you're like, okay, we knew who that was.
01:33So that one was at least, you know, on our radar.
01:36Connelly Early was not on my radar until like two weeks ago.
01:39Now, maybe that's me having my head in the sand.
01:41I don't know.
01:41But like a couple of weeks before his first start,
01:44it wasn't even on my radar at all.
01:45But look at that Sox prospect.
01:46Never mind coming up and pitching the way he has.
01:47Sox prospects, they do a great job.
01:49They rank every guy in the system, basically.
01:52So you can pull up their top 60 prospects just for the Red Sox.
01:56And obviously, some of those guys have graduated on.
01:59Some of them haven't, right?
02:00So like, for example, Peyton Tully is still the number one prospect
02:03in the Red Sox system, according to Sox prospects.
02:06You know where Connelly Early ranks?
02:08Fifth.
02:09Eighth.
02:09Oh, right.
02:11And he's already up.
02:11He's already leapfrogged a couple of guys who are pitchers.
02:13Now, some of them are, you know,
02:15Kyson Witherspoon just got drafted.
02:17But there are a few other guys that are playing in Worcester
02:19or playing in Portland that he is ahead of,
02:21or he is below on those rankings.
02:23So that's why we weren't really talking about him a lot.
