Thailand has officially entered the space race :rocket: For the first time ever, a Thai scientific experiment has been launched into orbit — thanks to NASA and SpaceX. The Thailand Liquid Crystals in Space (TLC) project, developed by researchers at Kasetsart University, is now aboard the International Space Station, where astronauts will conduct 144 hours of groundbreaking experiments in microgravity :test_tube::milky_way:

This mission marks a historic milestone for Thai science, showcasing six years of dedication and international collaboration. Discover how this experiment works, what it hopes to uncover, and why it’s such a big deal for Thailand’s future in space exploration :globe_showing_Europe-Africa::sparkles:

00:00A Thai experiment just blasted off into space for the first time ever, and NASA's behind it.
00:05At 5.11 a.m. on September 15, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from Florida.
00:11On board, the Thailand Liquid Crystals in Space Project, or TLC.
00:16This marks the first time Thai research has joined a NASA mission to the International Space Station.
00:21Developed by Cassettes Art University, the project studies how liquid crystals behave in space.
00:26It took over six years of hard work to reach this moment,
00:29and now, Thai scientists are commanding experiments from Houston and Boulder, right alongside NASA.
00:35The TLC system includes two key modules.
00:38One controls power, water, and air.
00:40The other creates and films liquid crystal films in microgravity using high-tech imaging.
00:45This experiment will run for three months.
00:48NASA astronauts will follow instructions from the Thai team,
00:51conducting 144 hours of experiments in orbit.
00:54And every moment is captured in real time,
00:57with data stored on a massive six-terabyte drive.
00:59Once complete, the mission returns to Earth in 2026.
