08:43all right for this challenge each house must create a cohesive activewear capsule collection where the collection goes from workout to the weekend with one of the hottest activewear companies calia
08:57to give you guys some more insight into calia we have a special guest vice president and head designer for calia alicia scott
09:18so good to meet all of you we created calia about 10 years ago and really wanted to form a brand
09:28that is the perfect juxtaposition of fashion and femininity and function and i love how you guys have all styled all your pieces you got today
09:37our entire collection is rooted in performance if you're designing a look for pilates or run
09:43it needs to be able to function we believe there's beauty in the burn
09:47how's it going to work whenever she's doing a downward dog make sure that when you're designing a piece
09:52it can be used for working out going to grab coffee going out to grab cocktails with your friends
09:58it needs to be versatile so not only has calia provided lookbooks it also provided all the fabrications
10:05of the challenge that's not all calia is going to produce and sell the winning look from the winning collection
10:17that would be so cool to have like joseph mccraig and calia produce but i feel like it would eat down
10:22i love the idea of this like beauty in the burn so what if we have like fire on the runway
10:33so you have all of today and part of tomorrow to create your fire worthy collections such a little

12:27provided us we're really paying attention to what color palette we want to do so that we really nail
12:33that cohesion this time because if we miss it two times in a row are we gonna be done for i love this
12:39fabric i was trying to get the colors out of this this has all your colors once again antonio is
12:48choosing the fabric and i'm getting a little anxious because last time he chose fabric we were in the
12:54bottom can y'all go to take it back so the fabric that i brought from all this is peace so guess of the
13:00inspiration of our collection be butterflies that's the best one out of all of them i think we should go
13:05with that i don't like that you know you like this better i mean i like this i don't like that either
13:11but i mean i don't know i wanted to start with this is what it is oh is the drama already beginning
13:19you know working with the twins you know they're a whole vibe but our looks have to be cohesive i love
13:26this joan but she's a little little old school and stuck in the back in the days this fabric's so cool

13:58with a corset bustier top it all sprouted from trying to use aspects of a kimono i grew up in
14:07greensboro north carolina but my nana was a tailor from nagasaki japan so i find a lot of inspiration
14:15in what the japanese call intangible cultural treasures but my mama would say that i don't bring
14:22enough of the south with me how are you feeling this week feeling great that looks really cool

14:59madeline what informs your work i'm trying to always like see things that i like about vintage fashion but
15:08then giving it like my own little twist what about yourself i grew up in like a hoedunk farm town i just
15:15felt inherently so different from the rest of my family the only thing i could really do was
15:21you know rely on my own creativity and imagination to kind of distract me from
15:26maybe not feeling like it belonged there did they accept you as you are like you know when i finally did
15:32come out they were like we don't get it yet we just don't want to lose you so we're gonna try to
15:39figure this out i feel really blessed to be able to have my family in my life so it makes me want to
15:48really push myself to win this for them hello how's the team going
15:57i do think the silhouette of this skirt you still have to figure out oh lord this might send me home
16:07i am a technical designer and i am a serious workaholic my family's doing it and i've always
16:15been raised with all the elders around me doing multiple things even if it's not their job they're
16:20gonna figure out how to do it that day and do it so i have to push myself because this workout
16:26so weekend challenge is taking me out of my comfort zone i really wanted to do something that was
16:32extremely comfortable i think it feels a little too demure i think i made the right decision
16:39i was the one who thought to use this print because miss joe didn't like it she still doesn't like it
16:43okay so you did it again you wanted to print again everybody wants this print
16:49groundbreaking this circle skirt yeah i can kind of circle out right now and do this in 10 minutes
16:59really what kind of not the exact same look from the last challenge but i think you're making a jacket
17:07a jacket and a skirt a jacket and a skirt let me tell you a little something about christian seriano
17:14christian are coming to work home like are you sure about that or he be walking around like oh
17:22okay then they're basically killing me with them glasses and that hair perfectly swapped into the side
17:28the top being fabulous is very important here you should develop this before because you already know
17:33you can make a cool jacket i'm going to listen to christian because i know i'm taking a risk but i
17:38do not want to be in the bottom again you got a lot to do i got you okay let's get it
17:44i'm kind of going for like the modern with a little bit of tron this dash doesn't do anything
17:50she couldn't do any athletic things with this thing
17:59so i kind of want to achieve this kind of like texture
18:03all of these lines you're going to weave the inspirations for this design is the clear logo
18:09it's like a twisted string it's like very dynamic what are you doing it's going to be like a more
18:18like athletic fancy corset bustier kind of thing this makes no sense for an athletic look that scares me
18:29athleisure specifically is not something that i normally do unfortunately time is not on our side
18:36in this competition christian has his doubts about this corset but we're sticking to our guns
18:44what are you doing i'm doing an oversized hoodie which i'm thinking about
18:49cropped and i did the pen tuck in my hand it's gonna have the same pen tuck all over the pants as
18:55well so you're also doing a sweat oversized oversized in the same fabric is the pant wide like that wide
19:06you even looked at each other's stuff and she's like right she's right in front of you honestly i
19:11really don't know much about what my team is doing this is it yes it's very similar i haven't looked at the
19:18designers on my team i've just been too focused so we just have a wide hand off on the runway in the
19:26same fabric what the like what am i gonna do next i need to think fast and pivot into some other
19:32different silhouette if i don't succeed i'm worried it might put me in the bottom
19:36so i'm looking at team lotus and it does not fit the brief that we got so it's gonna be the pop out
19:49so we both have a mess their looks are looking a little all over the place i think that we're
19:53gonna take this one home and look at the other team it's like crickets in that side of the room
19:59no one's really talking to each other and here we are like you know pavla
20:03and then at night she just puts a glove on it okay viz do this like we're helping each other

20:56you translated skirt it's really short i thought it was a mistake but it's not a mistake

21:12you have no side seam interesting you can do that look at her butt that's crazy these pants are styled
21:36after a japanese hakama pant where there aren't really side seams and all of the volume is put
21:42into plates across the back since we're paying homage to my japanese ancestress it's really important
21:51for me to nail this look that i make and i'm feeling the pressure

24:04and the next day you're out for this challenge we asked you to create a cohesive active wear collection
24:10for calia that goes from workout to weekend you worked in teams and you had only one day to
24:16create your collection all right let's meet our judges cfda award-winning stylist and image
24:21architect la roche editor-in-chief of el magazine nina garcia and our guest judge and co-owner of the
24:32fashion line favorite daughter sarah foster i'm so excited to see miss sarah foster she has a really
24:40good head on her shoulders around how to make a woman feel beautiful and comfortable in the clothes
24:44she's gorgeous okay we're ready let's start the shop it's going to be flaming hot
24:51i wish i had a marshmallow it's got flammable hair now wait i told you it was going to be hot and i
24:56i was not talking about hans in front
25:10i do feel like i have successfully captured the essence of this challenge with creating something
25:15that goes from work out to weekend with the pin tuck in the silhouette the styling is really good
25:22i'm feeling really confident oh let's see the refreshing
25:29i'm very proud of this look my look looks very modern sexy and fun and the red line on the jacket is
25:36everything i'm just looking at the outfit it's not as bad as i expected it to be but i know what's
25:53going on on the inside i see i see i'm not happy about it it could have been worse it could have

26:12with my athleisure luck i'm feeling pretty satisfied i like it i think it's cute it's nothing like
26:18really shocking but i am just elated that the athleisure challenge in the past she's got it
26:30it looks amazing i work hard to achieve that details that those string moving my head i cut
26:37all those holes individually it takes a lot of work to create that textile i want to make sure that every
26:43piece that i made is a labor of love i don't get that curly hair with that
26:49with that side fin it's flowing down the runway it's got movement oh it looks so good
26:59i would wear that now i may have slayed a little bit too hard this week so
27:03i'm hoping that they can pull this team through to the way
27:06this look is very universal this girl can do pilates and then put some heels on put a jacket on and go
27:18i'll have a coffee with a girl this at night i'm proud of myself it would mean a lot to win this

31:44i'd also wear it to dinner that night with a pair of jeans i don't i buy i'm into you i don't know how
31:49else i can say i mean i'm just into all of it i like to look too i like her vibe it stands out it's
31:54memorable to me she's badass and flirty at the same time thank you joseph thank you so much everyone

36:19the silhouette i think is nice i like the length i like that it's not a midi and it's not a mini
36:23i think that's versatile a lot of people can wear that it's just really that's that's all i liked
36:27about it you guys like the ties i think it kind of looks like a tampon i mean this is this is
36:36unwearable i also don't understand this girl i think the work that you've done i think it's quite
36:41beautiful but it doesn't scream activewear to me at all like i don't get it that's the problem
36:47you needed to make this a top a pair of black leggings and call it a day and you would have had a
36:56hit this didn't need to be a cocktail dress out of context all right angelo let's hear about your
37:02look um i designed men's streetwear so i just wanted to stay true to myself i think what you
37:09have to be careful angelo is that it felt to me a little safe and boring you really need to bring in
37:18a sense of drama step it up listen i'm a basic so i love sweats i think this is cool i like this
37:26it's different you know i mean it's not for me but i appreciate the amount of that detail yeah
37:30on sweats i think it's really well made it's just there was no showmanship to it you know i think
37:37that's where you fell flat okay thank you all right alex tell us about your look so quite a few of my
37:43pieces are also inspired by kimonos i incorporate into the way that i create different pieces is that
37:49part of your heritage to kimono yes my grandmother was japanese okay so i go to the sauna a lot and i
37:56love a corset i don't care what the situation is um the sauna well obviously you're not gonna wear
38:03of course that in the sauna but post sauna you can but you gave her a corset she doesn't look
38:07comfortable at all she can't work out in this guys the story has to match you cannot piss on me and tell
38:15me it's raining i'm sorry okay well the corset you're right but the pants and the sweater top i
38:20did like i liked the movement coming down the runway i don't know when it was coming down i was like
38:24oh it looks kind of like laurel piano vibes come on guys turn around please no do you see the seam of
38:33the path when she turns around there's the puckering yeah it is a struggle in the back there's a little bit
38:39of a problem with this bib that falls from the corset i think there's too many ideas put in the
38:45flap in the front the flap on the sleeve she's playing amish to her heritage and yes i love that
38:50but i don't see that in the look at all no all right there's a lot for us to talk about you can leave

39:03let's talk about angelo it is a tough competition to be in if you're that much of a minimalist because
39:09this is a show and you're competing with people that are going to razzle dazzle you have to remember
39:14you are in a competition you have to remember that give us a show
39:21vj's look was actually really good i hated it the ties were insane i thought the dress was
39:27really well made it was just out of context yes i would buy that it was the wrong story the sneakers
39:33with it it's going to be the worst yeah she has to really watch out for her styling because i don't
39:39think that she's got it together and it's as we all know a full polish look that has to come down
39:45yeah it may not be at leisure wear but i hope that the judges will appreciate the hard work that
39:52i put in that dress alexa's was an eyesore the execution was really poor in fact i also thought her
39:59styling was bad yeah that is a top i could work with that like with jeans and i literally can't
40:05work with any any of it i do not want to be part of a judging panel where everybody gets a trophy
40:11it was really bad i agree i'm not ready to go home this early in the game i want my daughter to see
40:19her dad give it his all to achieve the dream of becoming the next big thing in fashion it has been so
40:26much fun i'm so pissed though it's disappointing knowing what you have to offer and not doing that
40:36i just hope that i have the chance to show people what i bring to the table as a creative oh god

40:51and next bj maybe i should have been more of a leader there's a part of me that's thinking
