Heavy spells of rain continue to track south and eastward. Blustery showers follow across Northern Ireland, southern and central Scotland, northwest and southwest England overnight. Elsewhere is turning drier with some clear spells. Strong winds. - This is the Met Office UK weather forecast for the evening of 15/09/2025. Bringing you todayβs forecast is Alex Deakin.
00:00Hello, the winds calming down a little bit overnight. Tomorrow will be a quieter day with many places seeing at least a little bit of sunshine. It will be completely dry or completely calm. Still pretty lively gusts through Monday nights blowing in plenty of showery rain to Northern Ireland across central and then southern Scotland and showers feeding into parts of northwest England and southwest England too.
00:23But much of the Midlands, East Anglia and the southeast, and later in the night most of Scotland will become dry with clear spells, allowing the temperatures here to maybe dip down into single figures in rural spots.
00:33But most towns and cities will start Tuesday in double figures. Quite a few will start off with some sunshine, but not so northwest England, north coast of Northern Ireland, parts of southwest Scotland.
00:44A zone of cloudier weather in here, providing some showers through the day that may edge away from Northern Ireland, but throw some showers maybe over the Pennines to northeastern parts of England come the afternoon.
00:55A few showers will continue to feed in on a brisk northerly breeze over northern Scotland and some will keep going across southwest England where the cloud will start to thicken later in the day.
01:05But much of the Midlands, eastern England, dry and bright with some sunny spells. Bit of a breeze, but nothing like as windy as it has been through the course of Monday.
01:14And as a result, it'll feel a bit warmer as well. Temperatures only a degree or so higher perhaps than today's, but as I say, with those winds lighter and a bit more sunshine, it will feel a little warmer.
01:24Don't get used to that, however, because out west, another zone of wet and windy weather is on the way.
01:29Turning things damp across southwest England, parts of southwest Wales through the evening.
01:33Then that rain spreads into Northern Ireland. Some pretty heavy bursts as well, particularly for Wales and northern England.
01:39As we head into Wednesday morning, you can see that swirl. It's another area of low pressure and it continues to track northwards through Wednesday morning.
01:47So a wet start through the central belt. That rain will drift across northern Scotland, spread into eastern England.
01:52And may not see too much across the southeast of England. Some uncertainty about the exact extent of this rain, how far north, how far south it gets.
02:02But it should start to clear from southern Scotland, northern Ireland, northern England by the afternoon.
02:06So some sunny spells coming through here and actually bringing warmer air with it.
02:10But obviously it's not going to feel much warmer with the strength of the wind and the outbreaks of rain.
02:15But with a bit of brightness on Wednesday, we could easily get into the low 20s quite widely and we may see temperatures ticking up further later in the week.
02:23But we're also going to continue to see outbreaks of rain.
02:26This wiggling, writhing, what we call a waving weather front's never too far away from parts of England or Wales.
02:33These always give us meteorologists a bit of a headache to the exact track and the exact location.
02:38So do keep up to date with the forecast towards the end of the week.
02:40But we are likely to see some further outbreaks of rain.
