00:00There really is nothing more important to us than serving the people of Kent and
00:11Medway with the best coverage we can. Each month three million visitors choose
00:15Kent Online for their latest news, sport, leisure and opinion. In the last year
00:19alone we've published more than 10,000 stories. Every single day of the year our
00:23experienced and dedicated journalists work tirelessly to bring readers
00:26insightful, enlightening and comprehensive journalism. With this in mind last October
00:31we launched Kent Online Premium as we continue to build on our work and prepare for the future.
00:36Already thousands have signed up for a fast loading service with fewer adverts,
00:40exclusive content and reader offers. Kent is such a diverse place to cover from its people
00:47to its locations no two days are the same. Without Kent Online important stories in the county
00:53simply wouldn't be told. Part of my role is amplifying voices in Kent and making sure that
00:59we're working towards change. This year I've been part of a really exciting campaign where we're
01:03looking to change the blue badge system. What we're calling for is a short-term badge so what that would
01:08mean is someone with a short-term condition where their disability might not endure for three years
01:13can have access to a badge so they can use goods and services in the community. To be campaigning for
01:18something so important and just to make people's lives a little bit easier that's really special.
01:25Public interest journalism is hugely important to us at Kent Online and the KM Group because it's
01:31all about holding authorities to account. We've cutbacks in local journalism across the board in
01:36in the country and also in Kent. We're one of the few places that hold those authorities to account and
01:42spend the hours and hours talking to counsellors, talking to our sources, talking to authorities,
01:49sifting through thousands of documents to find out where our taxpayer money is being spent.
01:55Every year we cover hundreds of different cases, anything from petty thefts to murders,
02:00many of which the details wouldn't have come to light if we weren't here covering them. We still
02:04are 100% committed to covering all cases in magistrates and Crown Courts. It's really important in the
02:09public interest to show that you know justice is being served and people are being held accountable
02:14for their actions. In some ways the fact that we haven't got a Manchester United here or something
02:22like that or what you perceive as a top top club, sometimes the success is more impressive when the
02:29duels go to Wembley. It's huge isn't it? When someone wins a boxing title it's big news and when
02:35can cricket win you know a T20 trophy or something like that it's massive and everyone wants to know
02:39about it. I joined Kent Online in 2022 and I was an apprentice so I hadn't had a job in journalism
02:47before and I was really well supported and I'm still here now and I'm very proud to work for the KM
02:53and Kent Online. By subscribing to Kent Online Premium readers can help ensure independent,
03:00in-depth and relevant local journalism for years to come.
