00:03Social media can be overwhelming with the algorithm pushing for shocking content or short bursts of
00:08dopamine. Service users can find it very easy to get trapped into doom scrolling. But what about
00:13the good it can do? Well, I met with a Kentish influencer to find out how she uses her platform
00:19for just that. My thing that I'm most known for is my weekly roundups of things I do in Kent.
00:24So originally it was started during lockdown. Lots of local independents that we loved started
00:29closing down, unfortunately. And I was just devastated to see it. So I just wanted to spread the word.
00:34It is a passion of mine now. It has become a thing that gives me a dopamine rush. I do
00:38enjoy just
00:39sharing things. I really, really enjoy helping local businesses. Yeah, so what I do is I just
00:44go onto Instagram and I just scroll through. And because I've done it enough now, I usually,
00:49my feed does kind of give me events just ready. So what events are going on over the weekend that
00:55I could perhaps go to myself? Yeah, I'll show you, Corey. I've done a weekend roundup already
01:00this weekend. What's going on? What's going on this weekend in Kent the 16th and 17th of May?
01:05Walks and talks, arts and crafts and more. The Kent Food Fest, previously nominated by Condé Nast,
01:10as one of the coolest food campaign festivals. Let's take a look.
01:16So here I am in Seven Oaks at the Kent Food Fest to have a look at what the events
01:21have to offer.
01:22Here I managed to see people connect, sample local cuisines, and see small businesses thrive.
01:30There was even a dog show where I got to meet all the best pups. According to the Office of
01:35National
01:35Statistics, in 2025, social media had reached an estimate of 55.5 million users. It's no
01:42wonder the average phone user spends nearly four hours and 30 minutes online daily. But
01:48what do the event goers think of social media? Can it be just as good as it is bad?
01:53I think it has a really positive effect and in publicity sense.
01:59Exposure for small brands like mine is always good, you know, it's what we're looking for.
02:04Anything can be used for negative things in the same way as they can be used for positive things.
02:09So I think margining, social media is a positive thing.
02:13Sadly, sometimes it gets you from negative.
02:16I think there's more positivity than negativity.
02:19With summer just around the corner, there's bound to be many more events just like this
02:23one for friends, families and Kent businesses.
