00:00Police emergency.
00:03Every night in Britain.
00:05Okay, we'll get police making to you as a grade one emergency.
00:08Officers of the law.
00:10Yeah, that's noted, we're just round the corner.
00:12Clock on.
00:13You'll have to put the stop box tonight.
00:15Unlock the door! Unlock the door now!
00:17To keep the peace.
00:19Unlock!
00:20And protect us.
00:21Sorry!
00:22I need to get you home safe.
00:23While we sleep.
00:25Police officer and Jason, stay with me now!
00:27The UNDRIF, we're a possession of loads of articles.
00:29I love the night shift.
00:31It's my favourite shift.
00:32I'm not having that.
00:33Oi!
00:34Sometimes it can just go mental for no reason.
00:36Hi!
00:37Can you get a set of caps on here?
00:38Move, move, move!
00:39Hey, hey, hey!
00:40Down on the ground.
00:42We filmed with Gloucestershire Constabulary.
00:45Can you sell some of the taser?
00:47Shall we get your hands out?
00:48Following their 999 response team.
00:51Oscar Tanger 59, Oscar Tanger 59.
00:54Wait! Move on!
00:55Stay where you are!
00:56And specialist units.
00:58What's the time go to?
00:59There's more firing going on.
01:00I'm winning!
01:01Yeah!
01:02Can we have an ambulance, do you think?
01:04To show the highs.
01:06Snakes.
01:07Shall we go?
01:08Yeah, let's go.
01:09And the lows.
01:10Got any weapons on you or anything like that?
01:11Weapons.
01:12It's probably Willie.
01:13I'm so sorry, my darling.
01:14Not darling.
01:15Of the night shift.
01:17I love waking nights.
01:19It's when you get the chance to catch that old-fashioned career criminal.
01:22I thrive on that because I join the place to lock criminals up.
01:25That has to go very quickly, doesn't it?
01:29As the city sleeps, for the cops of Gloucestershire Constabulary, the night shift is still young.
01:42Good lad.
01:43Go on in.
01:44Here.
01:45Some of the hardest workers on the force are the four-legged officers of the K-9 unit.
01:51Good boy.
01:53Along with their human handlers.
01:55Hey, buddy.
01:56You've got a lot, haven't you?
01:57Hey.
01:58You've got a lot.
01:59Go on in.
02:00At the Special Operations Unit, PC Smith and his German Shepherd, Arnie, are preparing for another night on the road.
02:09So I've had Arnie for about six years now.
02:12So I had him from when he was about eight months old.
02:15He lives at home with me, so I'm with him, you know, all the time.
02:20Being a dog handler, it's a real privileged job.
02:23I sort of put it up there.
02:24You've got the chief constable, then you've got a dog handler.
02:27Great jobs.
02:29Come.
02:30Arnie's a lovely dog.
02:35He's brilliant to work around, but when he's actually at work, he just gets on with business.
02:40Arnie, come.
02:43Go on.
02:48We go to all different types of jobs, firearms incidents, assisting colleagues on the firearms unit.
02:54Arnie is a firearms support dog, so he's had that extra level of training.
02:59Gloucestershire has over 14 K-9 officers.
03:02PC Smith and Arnie are one of three units operating across the county tonight.
03:07It was a dog handler.
03:09Our bread and butter work is on a night shift.
03:12You know, just sort of like get called to a lot more breaks and just sort of assist him with the rest attempts.
03:21PC Smith and Arnie haven't been on the road long before a call comes in.
03:25The information we have is a male, topless, acting very aggressively.
03:31He's got a hammer and a knife.
03:34The call came from a resident who saw him banging on doors.
03:39Working strategy, minimize risk to members of the public in the vicinity.
03:46Arrest subject, recover hammer and knife.
03:51With weapons reported, the firearms unit are on their way.
03:55But PC Smith and Arnie's job will be to secure the location and prevent anyone trying to escape.
04:01This is a potentially dangerous job.
04:03We've been told to go straight to the scene.
04:05He's carrying a hammer and he's carrying a knife as well.
04:08And he's acting in a very aggressive manner.
04:11This could be down to anything.
04:12It could be under the influence of alcohol.
04:14It could be a whole manner of reasons.
04:17Across town, Sergeant Gladwin also received the call.
04:23Just got a report of a male going around the street, branching a knife.
04:29Massive risk to members of the public right now.
04:32So we're making that way to assist the firearms officers with whatever they need
04:38and getting roads closed in place.
04:41There's no getting away from the fact that policing is risky.
04:44And when it gets up to the next level where we're deploying firearms officers,
04:48you almost have to take that step back to make sure that those officers get there first.
04:51They're the ones with the skills or the abilities to be able to deal with this situation safely and effectively.
05:00I'm going to go behind them.
05:02Alongside firearms officers, PC Smith and Arnie lead the convoy of police vehicles to the scene.
05:09A lot of incidents we get involved with firearms teams are dangerous.
05:13We've got to be mindful of the threat and the potential dangers that we're going to be exposed to.
05:18We all want to go home safely.
05:25The police are not sure if the suspect has gone inside one of the houses or is still at large in the street.
05:30It's Sergeant Gladwin's job to close the roads to stop the armed man scaping and prevent members of the public from getting in harm's way.
05:39We've set up a cordon.
05:40So there's a carry on either side.
05:42So we've got it all contained now.
05:43No other vehicles can come through or stop any pedestrians.
05:46There's the firearms now to go and do their tactics, which is now moved to secure on a house to see if the person that was identified as being in the street with a knife.
05:55I turned out a hammer is in that address.
05:57So they're just knocking on the door now.
05:59So we'll see what happens from there.
06:01Like everything, when people see the police turn up, so people start looking out the windows and want to know what's going on, which is only human nature, I guess.
06:08Just give us five or ten minutes.
06:11Just because we're just working our address up here.
06:13Just hold down here for a few minutes.
06:14Oh, I just live where there, though.
06:16Where do you live?
06:17That's the address.
06:18Right.
06:19Who else lives there?
06:21My husband's in there.
06:22I've got the female occupant just collapsed.
06:25What's his name?
06:26What's going on at my house?
06:28I don't know.
06:29That's what I'm trying to find out.
06:31My son's in there as well.
06:33What?
06:34Apparently her son's in there as well.
06:35What has happened?
06:36We don't know yet.
06:37That's what I'm just trying to find out.
06:38Wait, what?
06:39What?
06:40Your son, is it?
06:41Yeah.
06:42I'll go back to him.
06:43Hold on a sec.
06:44Just stay here a minute because we just need to make sure they're OK.
06:46What has happened at my house?
06:48No one's answering the door.
06:51With an armed suspect inside and another person at risk, the firearms team need to get in.
06:57Have you got a key to the house?
06:59Well, if I go and get my key.
07:01Last thing or two, this lady here, she says she's got a key.
07:04It's just down at mum's address.
07:06We can go and get that if that helps.
07:08This is where, as a department, as specialist operations, we almost come into our own.
07:12It's what we train for.
07:14We work with one team.
07:15Firearms, dogs and traffic.
07:18We all come together.
07:19Honey, come.
07:20You can make the best plans, but if things change from those plans, you've got to be quite dynamic on how you sort of assess it.
07:37The information was that this person's got a hammer and he's got a knife and that he's surrounding that area.
07:42So we've gone to the address and the containment's put on.
07:46But you never know if that person will then come out or if they're going to remain inside.
07:50We've got a key.
07:52Time is running out.
07:54But just before the police start to break the door down, Sergeant Gladwin returns with keys from the householder.
08:00There's potentially two people in there.
08:02So we don't know what it all links to.
08:04So we're just going to get an address, make sure everyone's okay.
08:06It's the nature of the report.
08:08Initially, it means there's obviously concern for either or both those people.
08:12Did you want any closer?
08:38In Gloucester, the cops are on the hunt for a man who is armed with a hammer and a knife.
08:44Officers have entered the house where he's believed to be.
08:49With no response, they have to search the house.
08:52P.C. Smith stands guard at the front door.
08:55If anyone tries to escape, Arnie is ready to give chase.
08:59F.C. on the back.
09:01F.C. on the back.
09:02Yep.
09:03F.C. front.
09:04Happy day.
09:05Come, honey.
09:07The line of communication is always open between the firearms officers and dog handlers.
09:12If they want us to go, we've got to be ready to go at a moment's notice to assist them.
09:16So colleagues have made contact with the people inside.
09:21F.C.
09:22F.C.
09:23We have one male in blue jeans, no top on, no shoes on.
09:26F.C.
09:27F.C.
09:28F.C.
09:29F.C.
09:30F.C.
09:31F.C.
09:32F.C.
09:33F.C.
09:34F.C.
09:35F.C.
09:36F.C.
09:37F.C.
09:38F.C.
09:39F.C.
09:40F.C.
09:41F.C.
09:42F.C.
09:43F.C.
09:44F.C.
09:45F.C.
09:46F.C.
09:47F.C.
09:48F.C.
09:49F.C.
09:50F.C.
09:51F.C.
09:52F.C.
09:53F.C.
09:54F.C.
09:55F.C.
09:56F.C.
09:57F.C.
09:58F.C.
09:59F.C.
10:00F.C.
10:01F.C.
10:02F.C.
10:03F.C.
10:04F.C.
10:05F.C.
10:06F.C.
10:07F.C.
10:08At the back of the property, officers have cornered the suspect.
10:12Oscar, did you want me to come and assist you?
10:15It looks like he's currently in the back garden making threats.
10:18Sergeant Gladwing is guarding the front of the property,
10:20while the firearms officers tackle the armed man.
10:25This is like a massively high-risk situation right now.
10:28You've got someone who's got weapons of a knife and a hammer in a dark area.
10:32The last thing you want is him back out into the street causing issues right now.
10:38Can you confirm that that's the male who's down outside, that's been arrested?
10:53Yeah, I think we can safely say it is very irate.
10:58He's just been threatening us with weapons and as a result he's been fazed.
11:04Thanks very much.
11:05The armed suspect refused to put down his weapons
11:09and was threatening firearms officers, so he had to be tasered.
11:13He's been arrested, but he's fallen and hit his head in the process.
11:17It does, to be fair, look like a superficial...
11:19Can I cover you off for a second?
11:21We'll take him probably quicker to take him straight to hospital from here.
11:25He's fallen and he's hit the back of his head.
11:27So you can check him out for that.
11:29Okay, he's been arrested for a fright.
11:32As the man is taken to hospital for treatment, PC Smith and Arnie can stand down for now.
11:39Yeah, this was positive outcomes.
11:41Colleagues have gone into the premises, conducted a search from top to bottom.
11:45They've then gone around to the rear and they've located the male and they've tried to communicate with him.
11:51He's shown quite a lot of resistance, aggressive resistance, making a number of threats.
11:56They've tasered him to sustain him and he's been arrested.
11:59This is where they've made contact with the male, just right here.
12:02In order to get in, they've had to use an enforcer.
12:08With the scene made safe, the officers can retrieve the weapon, which may provide vital evidence.
12:13The officers can retrieve the weapon, which may be killed.
12:43On the night shift, PC's Rath and Davis are just about to go out on patrol.
12:53They will be working until two in the morning.
12:57Sometimes putting the uniform on, you kind of have to become a bit more, I suppose, official in a way, I guess.
13:05But I still feel me.
13:13As young as I can remember, I've always wanted to be in the police.
13:21I think I've just always wanted to kind of help people.
13:24I've been really excited about the types of jobs, the variety.
13:28I like busy shifts, yeah, busy shifts make the time go fast quickly.
13:34Just a bit more fun as well.
13:35Keeps engaged.
13:37There's nothing worse than on nights when it's quiet and you're just sat and you've got nothing to do.
13:41Because there's only so much driving around, you can do it as well.
13:47Go ahead.
13:53We've had a call come through.
13:55Two young people with Dole's orders run off.
13:59I'm not sure where they're headed to.
14:02Yeah, I saw receive.
14:03So, we've had a call to a report of two missing young females.
14:14Both have deprivation of liberty orders, which means that there's sort of like restrictions in place that prevent them from going out by themselves.
14:23So, usually it all sort of specify that they have to go out with staff.
14:28So, one of the females is a regular missing person for us and she kind of goes missing on a daily basis.
14:36This other female, we're not quite sure about.
14:38We don't think either of us have met up before.
14:40So, it's just going to be a case of carrying out an area search to try and look for them before they go too far.
14:44The officer they're talking to on the radio dealt with the girl the day before, after she ran away.
15:00She becomes very agitated and she can run fast.
15:06Viratel 23, that's noted, thank you.
15:10Viratel 23?
15:13Viratel 23, go ahead.
15:16Do we know what direction?
15:17They've said towards the cricket ground.
15:21Yeah, that's received.
15:24She will run when she sees us.
15:26So, it'll probably involve some form for Jase and maybe another unit or two getting involved to corner her.
15:33And then she tends to, when you get a hold of her, she tends to kick out at you as well and kick off a bit.
15:40And the carers take her home.
15:42And then we go through another vicious cycle again.
15:44I think probably most officers now have probably dealt with her and have tried doing it the nice way and speaking to her and trying to understand her.
15:53But it doesn't really work.
15:58There's no trace.
16:00We've had over 35 grade ones for her now when I looked the other day.
16:06She stays local.
16:07She knows, yeah.
16:08But she knows people will be out looking for her as well.
16:10So, she's actively choosing to go missing.
16:15The problem is she's 15, so she is obviously vulnerable in that aspect.
16:19We have to, you know, take it very seriously every time and do everything properly to make sure that we do everything possible to ensure that they are found.
16:28Sometimes, you know, they might go missing for days.
16:31And a lot of these children are at risk of child criminal exploitation or also child sexual exploitation as well.
16:38But typically, this one female does usually return on her own accord.
16:43Am I going left?
16:44Yeah.
16:45So, they've lost them by, they've run off from the house and then staff have lost them going down here.
16:51But they'll have gone left into the park and then could be anywhere by now, how quick they are.
17:02With CCTV and other officers looking for the missing pair in town, PCs Davis and Wrath decide to wait near the park.
17:12My car's a bit tired.
17:13They don't really fancy a sprint.
17:14No, I don't want to.
17:18I just hate running with kit on.
17:21If something more urgent came in, we would just go to that.
17:29What were they wearing again?
17:30She was wearing like a black all-in-one.
17:33Yeah.
17:36After waiting to see if the missing girls appear, a more urgent call takes priority.
17:44Another great one.
17:46We've taken two calls so far from the address.
17:50Reporting that there are two males fighting in the hallway.
17:53Punches are being thrown.
17:59So, we've got a report now.
18:01We've got two males fighting in the hallway of a communal area, I believe.
18:05They think one of the males is intoxicated.
18:08Yeah, apparently they're having a good old scrap.
18:09A grade one call needs an immediate response.
18:14The search for the missing girls will continue with other officers.
18:17A second crew has also picked up the call, and has arrived at the same time.
18:27A second crew is in front of the room.
18:29Not a secret.
18:346 Bravo 316.
18:36Hello, are you okay?
18:36Yeah, I'm well.
18:37It's cute.
18:39Are you the caller?
18:40I am, yeah.
18:41I think somebody else called us wrong.
18:43Okay.
18:45A lot of noise.
18:47Yeah.
18:48Followed by one of the other neighbors coming in, and they had scraps before.
18:51Are they still fighting now?
18:52Are they still fighting?
18:53They were, just as I left the flag, came out for a cigarette.
18:58Did they live together?
19:00No, so they lived above each other.
19:02It's a bloke's main man, and he's clearly on some sort of stimulant.
19:05Right.
19:06He's not having a good time.
19:08I went out to see if he was OK, and he basically told me to fuck off.
19:12Did he make rest to you?
19:13Yeah, OK.
19:16The other officers take details from witnesses,
19:19while PCs Davis and Roth speak to the resident,
19:22who's thought to have started the fight.
19:25What's happened?
19:26How has your face ended up like that?
19:30OK, have you got the key to go in?
19:32Yeah.
19:39Well, your face has, like, got quite a bit of bug in it.
19:42The neighbours have called for a bit of a disturbance.
19:45Yeah.
19:46Do you know where your key is?
19:48Yes, go ahead and see your number.
19:50Have you got it?
19:51What's the matter?
19:52What's the matter?
19:53What's the matter?
19:54What's the matter?
19:55What's the matter?
19:56What's the matter?
19:57What's the matter?
19:58What's the matter?
19:59I think it's going to be that one, mate.
20:00No?
20:01No?
20:02No.
20:03I think because he was very drunk, he just,
20:05he wasn't very interested in speaking with us.
20:07Take it steady.
20:08Mate, I think it's going to be the square one.
20:12OK?
20:13No.
20:14No.
20:15Hang on a second.
20:16The man seems reluctant to let the police in.
20:17We need to talk to you about what's happened.
20:18You got a light?
20:19Because of your face, we need to make sure that you're OK
20:20and what's happened.
20:21It's fine.
20:22OK?
20:23Is that all right?
20:24It's not bad.
20:25Yeah?
20:26It's fine.
20:27The man tells them he's been hit by his neighbor.
20:40So PC Davis checks his story out.
20:43So he's saying that the other guy's punched him in the face?
20:47Yeah.
20:48He has confirmed that he has punched him.
20:50PC Zahara, who's spoken to the neighbor,
20:53has been told the punch was in self-defense
20:55after the intoxicated man lunged at him.
20:59There's a neighbor that has stated to us
21:03that it's that gentleman who started it.
21:05So he's making a complaint?
21:07He's making a complaint.
21:08The neighbor who threw the punch has filed a complaint of assault.
21:12So from what we can tell, the two neighbors don't get along.
21:16Neither of them really like each other.
21:19I think there's a little bit of a neighborhood dispute
21:21kind of going on at the moment.
21:24This one gentleman has come home
21:26and I think has been a bit of a nuisance
21:28towards the other neighbor
21:30and has been sort of like banging and kicking doors
21:33and that type of thing,
21:34which has led to a fight.
21:37All right.
21:38Okay.
21:39So obviously they've spoken to the other people at the moment.
21:42Okay.
21:43So at this moment in time,
21:44you're going to be under arrest for assault.
21:46Okay.
21:47I do not have to say anything that may harm your defense.
21:48If you do not mention my question, something that's raised around in court.
21:51Anything you do say may be given evidence.
21:53Okay.
21:55Under arrest for assault.
21:56Because he's alleged that you've assaulted him first.
21:59So we're going to have to take you to the police station now.
22:03He did mention that he was ex-military.
22:05And we want to, you know, when we deal with people that have been in the military,
22:08we want to treat them with respect.
22:10Who have I assaulted?
22:11The neighbor upstairs.
22:12Oh, I've assaulted him.
22:14I know it's a bit tit for tat.
22:16And obviously there's a little bit more than that, isn't it?
22:18Oh, I've assaulted him.
22:19Yeah.
22:20That's what he's saying at the moment, yes.
22:21Okay.
22:22It's an allegation.
22:23Oh, it's an allegation?
22:25Yes.
22:26So you can't actually arrest me.
22:28You have been arrested.
22:29I've been arrested already.
22:30I've been arrested already.
22:31You're under arrest, yes.
22:33It's on suspicions.
22:34We're not saying you have absolutely done it
22:36because we appreciate there's two sides to every story, isn't there?
22:39So our colleagues at the moment are just taking statements
22:41from the other neighbor and some of the witnesses
22:44because the witnesses from a few of the other flats
22:47have provided a similar account to the neighbor from upstairs
22:52who says that the one has lunged at him first
22:56before he's then punched him.
22:57So if we leave him here, the chances are
22:59he's probably going to want to go upstairs and whack him back,
23:03which obviously we want to try and prevent.
23:05So one of them had to come in.
23:07It's just figuring out who, really.
23:10Once outside, the suspect takes a dislike to the camera.
23:14Come on.
23:15Keep walking.
23:16Come on, right.
23:17Keep walking.
23:18Number five.
23:19Keep walking, mate.
23:20Keep walking, please.
23:21Rob, come on.
23:22We've already said there's no point fighting, is there?
23:24We've already had a chat about that.
23:26It isn't nice to deal with people that, you know, are angry and irate.
23:30Certainly it makes our jobs a lot harder to do.
23:33Tell that **** to **** off.
23:36Who?
23:37That ****.
23:38Right, that's all.
23:39I'm a hamburger ****.
23:40Come on the side then.
23:41Come on the side so you can't see them, yeah?
23:43Come on the side.
23:45I'm not.
23:46I'm not.
23:47I'm not.
23:48I'm not.
23:49I'm not.
23:50Fuck yes!
23:58Keep walking.
23:59Keep walking, please.
24:00Come on.
24:01One minute.
24:02In Gloucester, PCs Davis and Wrath have arrested an intoxicated man for starting a fight with
24:07his neighbour.
24:08Tell that **** to **** off.
24:09Who?
24:10That ****.
24:11Come on the ****.
24:12Come on the ****.
24:13Come on the ****.
24:14Come on the ****.
24:15Come on the ****.
24:16Come on the side then.
24:17Come on the side so you can't see them, yeah?
24:19But he's suddenly become angry with the camera.
24:22I'm not having that.
24:23I'm not having that.
24:24Fuck yes!
24:25That's enough.
24:26Oi.
24:27Calm down.
24:28That's enough.
24:29I'm not having that.
24:30Calm down.
24:31Don't look at you then.
24:32What do you mean don't look at you then?
24:33Is there your fucking face?
24:34Bitch heads.
24:35Oi.
24:36I don't know what it is about alcohol but people when they are drunk they just think
24:41they're unstoppable and then before you know it you're then fighting with people.
24:45Eventually we had to, you know, be quite forceful with him.
24:48No, listen to me.
24:49Act like that again and you're going in handcuffs.
24:51Do you understand?
24:52You've been calm so far.
24:53I've been fine with you.
24:55If you shout like that again and kick off then the handcuffs are going on.
24:58Do you understand?
24:59I'm going to get the **** out of him tomorrow.
25:01No you're not.
25:02Yeah I am.
25:03No you're not.
25:04I don't know what you're saying now because you're under caution.
25:05Remember you're under caution.
25:06Anything we say could be used in evidence.
25:08You're being recorded right now aren't you?
25:13Let's go.
25:14What?
25:15Well done.
25:16Watch your hands.
25:17And your head.
25:18Well done mate.
25:22How are we drinking?
25:24The arrested man is taken to custody where the duty sergeant will book him in.
25:34Well because of he's very intoxicated right now he'll just be given sort of like food,
25:40drink and then he'll have the option to go to sleep as well just to sleep off the alcohol
25:44until he's sober in the morning for an interview.
25:46If we didn't arrest him obviously the risk there would be like potentially he's drunk.
25:53The danger is he goes around, kicks his door in or something like that.
25:56That's the risk we run if we don't take positive action in these sort of circumstances.
26:13It's busy isn't it?
26:30There's a lot of people out.
26:32A lot of tent parties.
26:33Ten parties galore.
26:34I suppose it's getting towards summer wedding season.
26:37There isn't an air point.
26:38Pc's Hastings and Blake, part of the mounted unit, are patrolling Cheltenham city centre.
26:47If you look at the police car passing us, how many people are going to stop and have a chat?
26:51Okay so we stand out, we're here, we're reassuring you guys can come and talk to us.
26:56I think there's just something about horses that encourage people to come and speak to police officers.
27:01So I was a response officer before I was a mounted officer and there's a very different way
27:07that people will speak to you and will approach you.
27:10Just come round to the side of him rather than his face.
27:12Yeah, please.
27:13That's it.
27:14They just get a bit fed up with it.
27:15It'd be like somebody coming up to you and doing that all night.
27:17What's going on in Cheltenham?
27:18Tell me.
27:19Tell me everything.
27:20Tell you everything.
27:21I saw someone throw up.
27:24Okay, someone's throwing up.
27:25Okay.
27:26That's a standard Saturday night.
27:28We get a lot of people come over that initially want to see the horses and then suddenly they want
27:33to talk to you about something that's happening in the neighbourhood.
27:35It just sort of sparks that conversation up first.
27:38Right.
27:39Shall we head round to Regent Street?
27:41So we'll go up past, what's it down the alleyway?
27:43Yeah.
27:44Sounds planned to me.
27:45Okay.
27:46Good boy.
27:54You okay?
27:55We've got to carry her around all night.
27:57All night.
27:58All night.
27:59All night.
28:00Stunning.
28:01Stunning.
28:02Stunning.
28:03Oh, I love it.
28:06You all right?
28:07I do enjoy the night shifts definitely.
28:09You get a good array of jobs.
28:11You can meet people out there who are having fun, having great nights, having laughs.
28:15You can get the people who maybe don't mix so well with alcohol and we have to deal with
28:20them in the exact same way and sort it.
28:21Go away.
28:22What's happening in front of us right here?
28:23Go away.
28:24Yeah, carry on.
28:25Do you out like the fucking victim?
28:26No, fuck off.
28:27Go away.
28:28Go away.
28:29Go away.
28:30What are we doing?
28:31Watch out guys.
28:32Go away.
28:34Go away.
28:35Go away.
28:36Go away.
28:37Go away.
28:38Go away.
28:39Go away.
28:40Go away.
28:41Go away.
28:42Go away.
28:43Mike Q617.
28:44We'll just have cameras on Regent Street opposite the taxi rank please.
28:47Okay?
28:48He's like me.
28:49Guys.
28:50He's like me.
28:51He's like me.
28:52Yeah, that's all right.
28:53Come out.
28:54Come with me. Can you go and talk to my colleague a second on the other half?
29:00What's happening?
29:00Come over here. Girls, girls, come here and tell us what's going on.
29:04It's easier to split them up early on and separate them and find out exactly what's going on
29:09than have it escalate into a full fight where lots of people will get involved.
29:13She assaulted me. I want to press charges.
29:15You want to press charges?
29:16Yeah.
29:17What assault? Talk to me.
29:19She hit me.
29:20She hit you?
29:21She hit me.
29:21You've got an allegation of assault here.
29:23Oh, from who?
29:24Yeah, but she's hit him.
29:26Which girl was it?
29:27Which one?
29:28Which girl?
29:29The one with the blue jeans.
29:31The one with the blue jeans, black top.
29:36The horses are quite loud because they've got the metal shoes on.
29:39They make quite a noise on the road.
29:40And if there's people in their way, we will shout loud enough that people will move quite quickly.
29:46Stand where you are!
29:49You.
29:50Can I get a small a second?
29:51Oh, my God!
29:52Right, you stand there.
29:54Right.
29:55Yeah?
29:56I need to take some details from you because we've got an allegation that you've assaulted someone.
29:59Okay?
30:00No, I haven't.
30:00No, he wants to give back to my mate first.
30:04Right, he's punched your mate first.
30:05Yeah!
30:06Backup is called for.
30:08Can we just have another unit?
30:09I've got an allegation of assault, but one's saying one's done it and one's saying the other's done it first.
30:14We just need to get all the both of them.
30:15Which of you guys got assaulted first?
30:17Right, do you want to come here as well then?
30:19Yes.
30:19Let's try and get some full details about what's going on.
30:22We need to try and start an army first.
30:24Okay.
30:24Do you know him?
30:25No.
30:26Don't know him?
30:26Okay.
30:27If you stay there, if you can, then I'll try and find him.
30:31Hey!
30:31Do you want to do anything about this?
30:35No, because, well, it's up to my friend because you hit my friend first.
30:38Okay.
30:39Fella, have you got any ID on you?
30:43Can I have it so I can get your details?
30:47Because you're making an allegation.
30:49Why do I have to give my ID?
30:50Because it's just easier, isn't it?
30:51Because you're making an allegation, so I want to confirm who you are.
30:55Yeah, it's easy, isn't it?
30:56It's all right, we've got her stuck.
30:58We're going to deal with it, aren't we?
31:01P.C. Blake has been taking the young woman's details.
31:07He's just worried because he can't see his friend, okay?
31:09He's fine.
31:12So, in the minute, we've got two counter-allegations of assault from one party to the other.
31:18So, we're just waiting for another unit to come down just to help sort of ascertain what's gone on.
31:22We're all fine.
31:24Everything's all right.
31:25It's done.
31:26The young woman who was allegedly hit first has decided not to press charges against the man.
31:35What's your plan now?
31:36I am going home.
31:38You're going home?
31:39That might be the best thing to do.
31:41Yeah.
31:41Right, fella.
31:43Yeah?
31:43Do you want to come up with me and we'll go and sort out what's going on, shall we?
31:46Just come up to his bank, because I need to go back to where my colleague is.
31:48The young man speaks to the backup unit, while P.C.'s Hastings and Blake discuss their findings.
32:03They're saying he punched one of those girls outside Yates, right?
32:07They don't want to make him face, anyway.
32:09P.C.'s going to go on his way.
32:10I just want to go with someone.
32:11Oh, okay.
32:13That's all right.
32:16He just wants to go on his way.
32:19Now they just want to make sure things don't flare up again.
32:23Right, did you guys say your plan is to head home now?
32:26Get yourselves home, okay?
32:27No more trouble.
32:29Right, let's go and put a crime on.
32:31Right.
32:32When people are under the influence, sometimes what they think is a brilliant chat-up line
32:36somebody else could take quite offensively or be quite upset by,
32:39and then it can result in these situations.
32:42Neither one wants to make a complaint about what's happened.
32:45Obviously, we've seen the female push the male against the board,
32:52but he's happy to just let them go on their way.
32:55So a crime will be recorded, and it'll just be no further actions due to no complaint being made.
33:00Am I going left?
33:11Yeah.
33:11So they've lost them by...
33:13They've run off from the house, and then staff have lost them going down here.
33:19Earlier in Gloucester, P.C.'s Davis and Wrath were looking for two missing teenagers.
33:24There's lots of groups at the moment, like, people dolled up in heels.
33:34Their search has resumed around the town centre.
33:37You know, she's pretty much always previously been found in the town centre.
33:41I think she enjoys the freedom, and she likes the nightlife,
33:44even though she can't be a part of it because she's only 15.
33:47But I think she just likes being out and about.
33:49I think she's been missing so many times, she's been found in so many different places.
34:01Well, we've had multiple units in town, and us going round as well,
34:06but the CCTV hasn't picked them up, and we haven't seen them, so...
34:12Usually, CCTV's our best chance at picking her up.
34:15So they've got cameras pretty much everywhere in the city centre.
34:19But, yeah, it's surprising they haven't picked them up at all,
34:21because usually they're very good at picking them up.
34:23Normally, she should be picked up very quickly.
34:24Obviously, there's a lot of people out tonight, so it makes it harder.
34:28I always don't think they're in town, you know.
34:31Do you want to go left, and we'll just go round the skate park as well?
34:36Honestly, it takes a good three, four hours every time she goes missing,
34:41and she will just turn up at some point.
34:42This is a skate park here.
34:49Who's that down there?
34:54That's what I was just thinking.
34:56Oh, no, it looks like a skater boy.
35:04Hello, it's Peter Ralph in Gloucester, please.
35:06We've been in the area searching for hours now.
35:08We haven't been able to find them.
35:10In the early hours, the care home has given an update.
35:14I'll probably have to assign a lost person search manager to the job at this point,
35:19because, yeah, we're coming off to you shortly.
35:24Photos of the two missing teenagers have been circulated to all offices,
35:28and CCTV will continue to look for them.
35:31The problem is, it is looking like a thread needle in a haystack sometimes.
35:40Should we start heading back?
35:42Yeah, we can start drifting here, we reckon.
35:44It's a lot of hours that we spend, you know, dedicating and looking for people
36:03that ultimately don't want to be found,
36:06and they usually do return on their own accord,
36:08but we have a duty of care to spend time looking for them.
36:14Sgt. Blakeman is patrolling the streets of Gloucester
36:27with an ear tuned to the police radio.
36:326-2-3-5, 6-2-6-4.
36:35What's your call phone?
36:36The folks are up to the fire, aren't you?
36:39You've got Oscar Tango with the traffic, Oscar Delta are the dogs.
36:43Yeah, 6-2-3-5, if you can still make that way.
36:46And the Sierra is special.
36:50It cannot be underestimated, the amount of power that just driving down a road
36:54with the Battenberg on the side of the car,
36:56the uniform and the high-vis,
36:58just being present and being around people,
37:01changes people's demeanour.
37:02If you're out at 2 or 3 in the morning in a rural area like Gloucestershire,
37:07chances are you're either on your way home or you're up to no good.
37:09Cue out to Victor Bravo 2-0.
37:13Could you attend Grade 1, please?
37:14We're taking reports of a domestic in progress.
37:18The call is states that there's a male and a female.
37:20The female currently has no shoes on,
37:22and the male is trying to drag her up the road.
37:25Are you able to assist?
37:27A Bravo 3 attached to that.
37:28We'll go to that.
37:29Luckily, Sergeant Blakeman is close by.
37:40We are on our way to a report of a domestic incident
37:43where a passerby has seen a male hitting or pushing a female
37:49and trying to drag her along the road.
37:53So we're only a couple of minutes away.
37:55Hopefully we'll get there and be able to stop this.
37:57It's being witnessed by a third party that doesn't know who they are,
38:00so we've got no idea who's involved in it.
38:04So, yeah, apparently they've been arguing
38:06and it's then escalated into pushing and dragging
38:08and it's not very nice at all.
38:10Right, well, at the moment, buddy,
38:24because of what somebody's told me...
38:26No, I haven't done nothing.
38:28I haven't done nothing.
38:46Yeah, she's just drunk and it's fucking driving me nuts.
38:48Okay.
38:50On the outskirts of Gloucester City Centre,
38:52Sergeant Blakeman is responding to a call of a man
38:56dragging a woman along the road.
39:00All right, well, at the moment, buddy,
39:02because of what somebody's told me...
39:05No, I haven't done nothing.
39:07I haven't done nothing.
39:08I haven't seen you have done anything at the moment.
39:10But from the allegations we've got...
39:12Love, you need to let him go.
39:13You need to let him go.
39:14Go on, sorry, go on.
39:15Go on, sorry, bud.
39:16No, it's okay.
39:17Put your hands on the ground for me.
39:18It's all fine.
39:19All right, at the moment,
39:19you are under arrest on suspicion of assault.
39:24No, mate, honestly.
39:26Jack, put your hands behind your back.
39:26If you haven't done anything,
39:28you've got nothing to worry about, have you?
39:29I haven't done nothing.
39:31Have I assaulted you?
39:33No, I don't, are you mad?
39:36Jack, we've got some other units on the way, all right?
39:38Once they've got here
39:39and we can speak to whoever we need to speak to,
39:40I may well be able to de-arrest you.
39:42Mate, I have not ever touched a hand on you.
39:44Okay, that's absolutely fine, mate.
39:46I'm sorry.
39:47We've got to do what we've got to do,
39:49haven't we, chap?
39:49I understand that.
39:53That Bravo 3,
39:54I've got all my under arrest at the moment.
39:56Mail I didn't know for him
39:57and I knew very, very well.
39:59I've had lots of previous dealings with her.
40:01What, can you...
40:02She's going to end up falling over
40:03in her head or something.
40:04She was so incoherent,
40:06she couldn't speak.
40:07She was really struggling
40:09to say anything, to do anything.
40:12Come on, please, baby.
40:13Do you want me to lean against the car?
40:13Just lean against the car.
40:15There you go, my dear.
40:16Whoa!
40:17I've got her, don't worry.
40:18Sorry, sorry.
40:19I'm not sure.
40:20She was swaying so much
40:23that I ended up grabbing hold of both of them.
40:25Sorry about her.
40:27Don't worry about it, right?
40:28She's drunk.
40:28You've been absolutely fine with me.
40:29Yeah.
40:30We need to get to the bottom of this.
40:31We've had that allegation,
40:31which is why currently you're in your own next.
40:33She fell over into the bins and all that.
40:35I even picked the man's bins up
40:36and put the stuff back in the bins.
40:38But honestly, boss,
40:40it's taken us about four hours
40:42to get from Asda to here.
40:44Okay.
40:44And she's fallen over her about fucking five times.
40:48Oh, you're serious.
40:48Well, let's just get to the bottom of it.
40:50That's okay.
40:51No worries, no worries.
40:52Lean up against the car, please, baby.
40:53Please.
40:55There we go.
40:57She's had two bottles of ginger wine.
40:59That's what really happened.
41:01Okay.
41:02God, can I just...
41:03There's something on my...
41:04She squirted shampoo all over me.
41:06Is that what it is?
41:07Yeah.
41:07All right, yeah.
41:08Give me a second, mate.
41:08Can I just wipe my shoulder?
41:10Yeah, of course.
41:11Oh, I can't do it.
41:12It's all right.
41:12Where did you get the shampoo from?
41:14She had it in a bag.
41:15All right, okay.
41:16It's me.
41:16I was wondering what that was.
41:17I wasn't going to ask.
41:19You've got to expect the unexpected.
41:21And when he told me what it was,
41:23I think at one point I went into the back,
41:25got some blue rolling.
41:28How's that?
41:28That's it, brilliant.
41:29Thanks.
41:29All right, I'll get that a bit.
41:30That's all right, thank you.
41:32Which is a bit of an odd thing to do,
41:34cleaning another man's face
41:35whilst he's in handcuffs.
41:37There you go.
41:37Even giving you new hair style.
41:38Thanks, everyone.
41:39Yeah, not that I got my chair.
41:41I wasn't going to say it.
41:46I've got fish in the hand there.
41:47All right, I'll put...
41:48What I'll do,
41:49I'll put that fish on top of here, all right?
41:50Don't let me forget it.
41:51No, I know, yeah.
41:53We've already lost the mushrooms.
41:55One of the weirdest things
41:56I've had to take off somebody
41:57when I've arrested them is raw fish.
41:58With the arrival of a second crew,
42:02Sergeant Blakeman can report back to base.
42:04And it's given a plausible story
42:06of trying to get her back home.
42:07Certainly when we arrived,
42:09that looked like what he was doing.
42:10He was helping her through,
42:12which could be conceived as dragging,
42:14but at the moment,
42:14I think that's probably what's happened.
42:16She is heavily intoxicated.
42:18My personal opinion is
42:19that it's a call with good intent
42:20and we should get them both
42:22home to a place of safety,
42:23but I just wanted to run it by you
42:24as it's domestic.
42:26I've got one more thing to double check.
42:27Okay, that's fine, yeah.
42:28And then it will be as I discussed,
42:29as long as everything else goes all right.
42:31No, that's fine, yeah.
42:32Will you...
42:32Boss, if everything's okay,
42:34will you please get us home?
42:36Yeah, absolutely.
42:37Yeah, absolutely.
42:37This is taking a long.
42:39But those plans are scuppered
42:41when the woman is recognised
42:42by Sergeant Blakeman's colleague.
42:45It's been to me.
42:47I've been looking for a lot.
42:50And yeah, it turns out
42:51that my colleague that turned out
42:52had wanted the female for a while
42:54and had been trying to find her
42:55and lo and behold,
42:56she just popped up and there she was.
42:58Oh yeah, she wanted it,
42:58she wanted it, didn't she?
42:59Simple as that.
43:00We were out the other day
43:02to try and arrest her for it.
43:03Okay, fine.
43:03If you want to arrest her,
43:05and then I'll do arrests.
43:06Yeah.
43:06You do not have to say anything.
43:08She's laid out from eight o'clock forward.
43:10When questioned,
43:11something you laid to the morning good.
43:13Anything you do say
43:14may be given in evidence.
43:15She's going to a home.
43:17It's our home that she's going to.
43:19So she'll be looked up
43:20until the night.
43:20She'll have food and drink
43:22and water and some bedding
43:23and she'll probably end up
43:25going to court tomorrow morning
43:26I would have thought.
43:27What are you going to arrest her?
43:27She was civil court, all right.
43:29But I'm not...
43:29I'm going to lay here.
43:30She's going to lay down
43:31from eight o'clock at night
43:32until ten in the morning.
43:32Okay, come on then, guys.
43:33Let's get going.
43:34This is not from today.
43:35This is from a different day.
43:37Go!
43:38Come on!
43:39Right.
43:40Go back and run now.
43:41Watch yourself.
43:41Watch yourself.
43:44Good.
43:45Sit.
43:46All right.
43:51She was struggling
43:52to keep to her feet
43:53for a lot of that.
43:54But then, as soon as she found out
43:56she was going to be arrested,
43:57she seemed to sober up
43:57quite quickly.
44:07All right.
44:07Cheers, guys.
44:08Sorry it's ended up this way.
44:10It's not ideal, is it?
44:10But...
44:11At least she's taken the anchor
44:13off of you.
44:14That's a plus side.
44:15And this is all
44:16because she's drunk?
44:17I don't know
44:18what the preach is, mate.
44:20I can't tell you.
44:21I don't know.
44:22But I just want to thank you
44:23for your cooperation with this.
44:25No, that's okay.
44:25I appreciate it.
44:25No, no.
44:26You wasn't horrible to me
44:27or nothing like that.
44:28It's unfortunate.
44:30But the other thing is
44:31don't forget your fish.
44:32We're not bullied here,
44:37but I don't know what you were
44:39talking about.
44:39Let's do it.
44:40Let's do it.
