00:00I don't want to make a comparison between Nigel and Kemi.
00:01I have great personal regard for her, actually.
00:03I think she's done a very, very difficult job with courage and resilience,
00:06and I like her personally.
00:07I think the problem is the Conservative Party.
00:09So any leader that the Conservatives have,
00:11I think, would struggle with two essential problems.
00:13One is a divided parliamentary party and a party in the country.
00:16And secondly, a toxic brand.
00:18And it's not just a brand problem, it's a real problem.
00:20The fact is the country doesn't trust Conservatives
00:22because of their record in office over the last 14 years,
00:25and particularly the last few years,
00:26when, by the way, I was opposing what the Conservative government was doing
00:30on migration in particular.
00:32So I think that, unfortunately, whatever leader we have,
00:36the Conservative Party is finished as the principal opposition to the left.
00:40But the good news is we do have a great alternative in Reform Party,
00:46my new colleagues, and in its leader,
00:48who I think does have the character and the track record
00:51of persistent commitment to the cause
00:54and to the interests of the British people.
00:56that they will be looking for.
