12:19which he couldn't shift when i came back i was really unhappy with how his chest was sounding and
12:25his breathing was so short um i said right in the morning i'm going to take you up to wayne
12:29i'm not happy took him up on the tuesday morning and he died on the saturday
12:36my life was just empty i can't really remember much about the first two years it was just all a
12:42dark blur really 25 years married oh yeah okay it's hard you know but you cut it out yeah
12:54so i cremated in my last silver wedding but i chose that date because i could remember it for the
13:03wedding not for the funeral so it's like a bittersweet date but i remember it for the good day
13:10i managed to sort of deal with the the loss of my husband and i've actually turned that page now so
13:16that chapter is done so i'm looking to try and start a new one really you never know there might be someone
13:21out there that can come and love me i got a poem for you all right my date's name is sue she's very
13:31pretty it's also very exciting and i can't wait to see until the end of the day to see if she picks me

15:10responsibility for my actions you can't just blame everybody else and you don't hold grudges because
15:15that's just ridiculous it's a lot of energy doing it's holding a grudge is like swallowing poison
15:20hoping the other person will die it makes no sense i mean i know people that are stuck with it because
15:25they don't want to leave the wife for the kids yeah and they've just gone along and not really an
15:29happy life you've only got one life exactly yeah life is not simple anyway and kids make it more
15:37complicated for me when i didn't have but i never wanted children anyway no i'm gonna no no no
15:42have you ever had a date um a date a day no i've never had a blind date before no i think it'd be
16:06back in union probably before smartphones so you know have you or when was your last blind date first

16:17for about seven and a half years oh okay we had a house we had two dogs we're still really good

16:28say a situation that makes it sound quite dramatic or quite bad i'm very dramatic and one of them was
16:33quite bad i know why it was just like he just wasn't quite sure of where he was in life fine

16:47from someone who at the end of the day messed me around i definitely was in love with him he was
16:55basically saying everything i've ever wanted to hear from someone but he just never delivered at the
17:01time i thought they were out but i guess they're not it was a case of me just being like i'll wait
17:07forever that just shows you're you're too much of a nice person you shouldn't have to wait for anyone
17:13he would make me feel like i wasn't like worthy i had no confidence i felt very unlovable

17:27have these years where everyone else they are all moving on i think because for so long i try to be

22:19parents yeah yeah yeah um but they were amazing totally fine yeah what about you were you a weirdo
22:27i probably was actually i was really shy as a child i think i went to boarding school
22:32did you yeah yeah what was that like i always thought if i had kids i wouldn't send them to boarding
22:38school it was a very traditional schooling system being gay was was not allowed effectively
22:45it was a boys school so there were always you know horror stories of bullying if people were
22:49seen to be even slightly effeminate some of my friends made fun of me effectively so you sort of
22:56box that up a bit i didn't really like sports but we had to play it but i remember once we were all
23:00standing on the rugby pitch whenever the ball was like over there i'd make sure i was far over there
23:05yeah at school we were taught you go to school you go to university you get married you get a job you
23:11have kids and you carry on the cycle but that's not where it's for all my life going and then yeah
23:15i went to uni and came out of uni and it was all fine yeah amazing now i'm getting a bit older i would
23:21like to settle down you know we always live in hope that there might be someone out there that we can

34:29something wasn't right but i just carried on because you just carry on just over three years
34:33ago driving home we'd left the kids at my parents because we'd just been to watch a fireworks show
34:38and the the tension in the car was like you could cut it with a knife it was like just this odd ominous
34:44feeling i was like something's something's going to be said here we came home and she sat me down
34:51and she said um chris i'm gay oh yeah i know wild
34:57the thought process in my head was what the hell but at the exact same time it was oh
35:09this makes sense it was like this deep fear that the relationship is is now gone but also a very
35:17light bulb moment and like that everything just clicked into place has she ever explained it to you
35:22she always felt that way she said she had always been gay that's not like a can we work on it no
35:29that's it there and then it's done and that's your family separated yeah how did you feel it was a
35:36really hard time and i didn't process it for quite a while but i never take away from the fact that it
35:41was a courageous thing like that she did and i can't take that away from her do you know what i mean it
35:46must have been tough because it was tough for her as well and i totally appreciate that we just get
35:52on amicably it was difficult but we yeah we had to had to work it out because for the sake of the kids

37:43do just get on with things i don't want to be on my own i don't want to put myself out too much and then
37:51get hurt i just want to have a bit of fun and why why not you're entitled to it

38:59they're doing so i know they're both well and both successful so that's good you must miss them oh
39:08terribly but do they have children you don't know how long ago since you've seen them then

40:24we yeah we were living together we broke up about two years ago and i really tried to fix things for
40:30such a long time i think it's really hard to let go especially when you've got children involved
40:34just i'm sure you can imagine going through a breakup at work full-time had a little boy and
40:41i had to sell the house all by myself and buy a new one okay it was really like that's made you very
40:48strong i need to believe in myself a little bit more definitely need to believe in yourself
40:56and you're a beautiful person oh thank you i don't actually have a lot of confidence in myself
41:01you should it just needs a little bit more time i only moved into my new house in october so we're
41:07settling in oh you're settling in i've been there to do a bit of diy well you're with the right guy
