"They [Romualdez and Co] will not be spared."

House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, former House appropriations panel chair Zaldy Co, and other allies will not be spared from the scrutiny of the newly formed Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), President Bongbong Marcos said in a press briefing this Monday morning, September 15, 2025.

"They will not be spared," Marcos replied to a press question regarding the ICI's impartiality.

The ICI is tasked to investigate anomalous flood control and other infrastructure projects.

00:00Sir, just a follow-up question.
00:01Congressman Toby Tianko has blamed your cousin, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez,
00:07as well as former House Appropriations Chair Zardico, as one of the culprits behind these schemes.
00:13Aside from mentioning, repeatedly mentioning, that the panel will be independent,
00:17how do you convince the public that your cousin and other allies, both in the House and in the Senate,
00:22would not be spared from the scrutiny of this panel?
00:26Well, there's only one way to do it, isn't there?
00:30They will not be spared.
00:34Nobody, anybody will say, ah, hindi, wala tayong kinikilingan, wala tayong tinitulungan.
00:41Walang namang maniniwala sa'yo hanggat gawin mo eh.
00:43So, gagawin namin.
00:46Alright.
00:46Thank you, Mr. President.
