00:00Hello and welcome to this Jane's Weather Update for Victoria for Monday.
00:04We have got some damaging wind warnings today.
00:06So severe weather warnings for damaging wind gusts.
00:09They're up on the ranges but they are also in the northern and western suburbs of Melbourne,
00:13the Otways and also the Mornington Peninsula.
00:16So we're looking at a gusty conditions during the day,
00:18then norsely winds so they're quite warm.
00:20We've got them in Victoria, South Australia and also in Tasmania.
00:24Otherwise, not a lot of wet weather today.
00:26Let's watch that come in as the cloud builds.
00:28So then by the end of Monday, here is the cold front running down in through here,
00:33just reaching Melbourne close to midnight.
00:35So the wet weather is not heavy but it's coming in from the southwest mainly later in the day.
00:40Having a look at Tuesday, that's when it moves across.
00:43Heavier falls up on the ranges in through here, the western parts of Gippsland
00:46and a nice little fall in through here.
00:48Winds are northerly, so it's the northern side of the ranges generally that sees the most of it.
00:52Then they turn and so we'll get that activity mainly in Gippsland too.
00:56OK, so that's Tuesday.
00:57Let's now head into Wednesday.
00:59The rest of that comes in.
01:00Next high pressure system.
01:02Sitting here over southwestern parts of New South Wales by the end of the day.
01:05So our winds are definitely easing but they're not as gusty anyway as what they were on Monday.
01:10So by Wednesday, all of that is all over.
01:12Heading into Thursday, highs now out to the east.
01:14We've got our next northerly wind flow.
01:16Next cold front is here by the end of the day on Friday.
01:19So on Thursday, I apologise.
01:21On Thursday, so it hasn't entered the state yet.
01:23That comes in on Friday.
01:25There it goes through.
01:26Again, it may be mainly a northern thing.
01:29And you'll notice this one's extending quite a way up.
01:31I'll just zoom all the way up in through here.
01:34Moisture from up near Cairns that has been pouring in and coming down to us.
01:38So we're likely to see some more activity in the northern parts.
01:41And then again coming through into the south.
01:43So on those slopes of the ranges in through here, 5 to 10 millimetres.
01:47That's Friday.
01:48Have a look at Saturday.
01:49Another burst starting to come through.
01:51We've got some gusty westerly to southwesterly winds with this.
01:54Into Sunday.
01:55And as you guessed it, yes, into next Monday as well if the next system comes in.
02:00So our dry days really were Monday, drying up on Wednesday.
02:03The next warm one is Thursday.
02:05And then it changes again next Friday and lasts through all of next weekend.
02:09What is that likely to add up to over the course of the week?
02:11If you're in the northern parts here, 5 to 10 millimetres.
02:14In the southwest, 15 to 25.
02:16Western parts of Gibson, nice 25 to 50.
02:19Maybe even more than 50 millimetres if you're right up on the ranges here and just into the slopes heading up in through there.
02:25So that's our totals.
02:27The main big totals are down on the western parts of Tasmania.
02:29Huge falls there as they just get front after front after front move through.
02:34So what can we expect in Melbourne?
02:35Sunshine.
02:36Gusty northly winds for Monday.
02:39About 25 during the afternoon.
02:41Yes, that is very warm for this time of year.
02:43And you don't get a jump up in temperatures like that without it being blown here.
02:47As we move into Tuesday, the wet weather begins pretty much around midnight into about 2 a.m.
02:53That's when it's likely to start kicking off.
02:55So we've got a wet morning tomorrow.
02:56We've got potentially a period of rain as it goes through.
03:00And then it breaks to showers and they'll ease during the afternoon.
03:02So temperatures are down a little bit.
03:04We're back down to 19.
03:05But nothing freezing in behind this.
03:07It's 15 on Wednesday.
03:08There are light showers passing through on Wednesday.
03:10Dry for much of the time adds up to about 0.4 of a millimetre after 6 on Tuesday.
03:14Thursday, that's our next warm one.
03:17The wind picks up.
03:18Look, we've got 52 k's an hour here.
03:19That may go a little bit stronger as we head into Friday.
03:23So conditions warming on Thursday, they stay warm for much of Friday and then they drop off.
03:28So potentially 21 on Friday and then it's down to just 15 as we go through the rest of the weekend.
03:34So developing on Friday, lasting through the weekend when we have our colder conditions coming in
03:39because the wind is now heading in from the west and then the southwest.
03:42As always, head to Farm Online Weather for the latest.
