00:04I find it funny that the general response to Flame is the exact opposite of the general response to Loot.
00:11If I remember right, Loot was supposed to become the face of magic.
00:15But Loot failed because the Wizards tried to make Loot a forced meme.
00:20And they tried to make Loot into Poochie.
00:23If Loot wasn't on the screen, everyone was supposed to ask, where's Loot?
00:28No one cared about Loot because he's an ugly little idiot that we were instructed to love.
00:35And look at that name, the key to everything.
00:39Just call yourself a second coming, why don't you?
00:42On the other end of the spectrum, we have Flame.
00:45Absolutely unassuming and barely even acknowledged by Wizards.
00:50Players had to find Flame by looking through the not Spider-Man Spider-Man cards.
00:55It's like Wizards is ashamed of these cards.
00:59So, Arena players are flipping through a scryfall and what have you.
01:04And you flip over not Norman Osborn.
01:09And what do we see?
01:11Our boy Flame just vibing.
01:13Look at this goofball.
01:15Fabulous accident of marketing and licensing.
01:18Now, the reason Flame works is because Flame wasn't forced on us.
01:24Flame is like Fibblethip.
01:26Fibblethip was a random throwaway character on a random 13th pick draft shaft with some notable flavor text.
01:34But the players found Fibblethip.
01:37And the players championed Fibblethip.
01:41It was natural instead of shoved down our throats by advertising campaigns and cubicle jockeys.
01:48Now we're doing the same with Flame.
01:50Blizzard didn't tell us to like Flame.
01:53We found Flame.
01:55I haven't paid actual money for a playmat in a decade.
01:59But I'll absolutely spend some money on one of Flame.
02:04Nicholas Gregory, if you're out there and hearing this, shut up and take my money.
02:09Humans will pack bond with anything and magic players have packed bonded with Flame.
