00:29a 13-kilometre ride to begin in November and reviewed after 12 months.
00:35This is such an important measure, particularly giving passengers certainty and confidence
00:40when using taxis.
00:42In 2022, the Point-to-Point Commissioner introduced a complaints hotline for passengers and has
00:48issued more than 1,100 fines to taxi drivers.
00:52This is all about instilling trust and confidence in the taxi system here and making sure that
00:57the people who arrive in Sydney for the first time have a predictable and consistent experience.
01:02While the flat fare trial will only apply to passengers coming from Sydney Airport into
01:08the city, the government has left the door open to eventually expanding it to other parts
01:14of Sydney.
