00:00Hello, this is Jason Jones from the Sunderland Echo, just out of Selhurst Park, where Sunderland
00:05have played out a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on the road. Really good point for Sunderland,
00:10I think it's fair to say, really hard-fought point in the end. It was a bit of a strange
00:14contest in the sense that I think on balance for the first 80 minutes, it was really quite
00:20an even game without Sunderland having created too much, and Crystal Palace, by contrast,
00:25sort of had a few relatively clear-cut openings, certainly what for Euromipino in the first
00:29half that he probably should have scored, that I think will ultimately make them feel
00:36as if they should have won the game. The last 10 minutes were a little bit different, Sunderland
00:39sort of sat in, changed approach a little bit and sort of absorbed pressure in the way that
00:45we saw them do so often in the Championship. But certainly for that first 80 minutes, I
00:50thought that Sunderland equipped themselves really well against a team who are obviously
00:54so well-versed in the Premier League, FA Cup champions, you know, holders of the community
00:59shield and going into the game were actually on the longest unbeaten streak of any team
01:03in the top flight. I thought Sunderland matched them for the most part over the vast majority
01:08of the game. So some real positives to be taken from this, even if Palace and certainly Oliver
01:13Glasner in his post-match press conference, very much of the opinion that that was a game
01:18that they probably should have gone and stolen in the end. In terms of other things to point
01:23out, Robin Roof's absolutely phenomenal in that. He looks like he is going to prove to
01:27be one of the signings of the summer. Obviously you don't want to jinx the lad, but on the
01:33evidence of what we've seen so far, he's been absolutely remarkable. He was again today,
01:38you know, a number of really important saves at really crucial junctures in the match. Debuts
01:45for Brian Broby and Lucerelle Gertrude, although you'd have to say that both of them came on
01:51so late and sort of had such little opportunity to impact the game that it's very little more
01:56than a sort of footnote, you know, much more to come from them further down the line. But
02:00yeah, like I say, for the most part, a performance of Sunderland should take a lot of heart from.
02:05I think we saw a different side to the team compared to what we've seen against, you know,
02:10the likes of West Ham where they controlled a lot of it, Brentford where they had more
02:13possession and obviously create more of a goal threat. So, you know, signs that Sunderland
02:18have extra dimensions, you know, and they can dig deep and they can show that tenacity
02:23when it's required and ultimately something that could prove to be pivotal for them if
02:29they are to go and secure survival in the Premier League this season.
