00:00after the catch so far unable to do that third and eight looking towards
00:08Samuel doesn't go there he's going to take off and the man will let this team
00:12in rushing last year takes to the 33 Adrian Cooper makes the stop Jeff
00:17Halfley the defensive coordinator who is doing a great job in his second year you
00:22can see the players are much more comfortable and understanding the scheme
00:25he understands the players he has an ability to be very creative disguise
00:32coverages of course it helps having one come over from Dallas but already a
00:36defense that has a lot of pieces to be able to put together one of the top
00:41defenses in this league second and five
00:47play clock at two pressure passes incomplete for the outside intended for
00:58Brown Nixon makes this up you tell me that anybody in America was happier than
01:02Jeff Halfley when that trade was made no no he was ecstatic and this again Nixon
01:09sitting on the short routes they know the ball is very tough to get look at him
01:13he's not losing any ground and it allows him to come up and knock the ball away
01:17again one of the beauties I have in this kind of pass rush not just Parsons but the
01:21whole group is it's very hard on a quarterback to sit back there comfortably
01:25and wait for the deeper route so again allows that secondary to just sit and jump on
01:30those underneath rounds Daniels is eight out of 12 for only 43 yards about three and a
01:35half yards per pass hangs in the pocket deep downfield and incomplete intended for
01:43Terry McLaurin covered there by Nate Hobbs who's been injured and he was a
01:47question mark coming into the game but there he is free agent from the Raiders
01:52fourth down so they rush for they spy this time with Quay Walker and then they
01:57play man-to-man and it's great to see Nate Hobbs back in the lineup you know he's
02:01been dealing with some injuries in camp had a knee injury but to see him back in
02:06that nickel spot allows him to be able to play man-to-man on third down
02:09situations 51 yard attempt for Matt Gay to try to put him on the board and a 51
02:17yard kick in the NFL these days is almost a chip shot of course it's good they get
02:22three Green Bay 14 Washington three four and a half to go to the half
02:31well in attendance tonight on the left is Andy Jassy the major Domo of of Amazon
02:38of course Roger Goodell the major Domo of the National Football League got to give
02:43Andy up here as a big Giants house gets a huge diehard Giants right tough one last
02:48week against these commanders I'll say yeah was his New York Rangers as well
02:53hockey season's on the horizon gate a kickoff right now
03:00427 to go Matt Gay who just kicked a 51 yarder
03:07see Williams and Emmanuel Wilson are back to receive it'll be run back here by
03:13Emmanuel Wilson from the one yard line and it's popped up at the 27 yard line
03:19Thursday Night Football being brought to you by Ford ready set Ford by T-Mobile now the
03:25best network in America the great Vince Lombardi won five NFL championships with
03:32the Packers first two Super Bowls then he left here and went to Washington for a year so he was the
03:40head coach there there's the statue of him one of the all-time greats of course the
03:44stadium named after Curly Lambeau but he spent two years coaching Washington
03:58one of the top of the stadium saving on Williams to the outside and the man who scores six rushing
04:04touchdowns to go with six receiving touchdowns at TCU with a nice game here off a Kraft block and it's
04:11that spin series a little bit of confusion misdirection you don't know who has the
04:14football watch the quarterback's action here he hands it to 83 on his right and fakes the
04:18eight up through the middle enough to hold the defense good blocks on the outside saw 18 Malik
04:24Keith who had a great catch earlier and of course Tucker Kraft getting around 85 with a nice block as
04:29well it's a big series for the for the commander's defense deferred get the ball to start the second
04:35half and right now to sit here at 14 to 3 the way this game is gone they're pretty fortunate
04:40absolutely second down and two
04:42to the outside Jacobs nice little move there flag is thrown
04:50holding the offense number 86 10 yard penalty second down John Fitzpatrick
05:01number two or three tight end so that moves the ball back the Curly Lambeau thing was so interesting
05:08how many people knew that Josh Harris came by talked to me before the game the owner of the
05:12of the Washington Commanders he didn't know it everybody knows Lombardi coach both teams
05:17you know the reason I took a walk last night and I stopped by the statues and I saw both those
05:23statues and I read up on him he's born in 1898 coached in the 20s and 30s and 40s and then again
05:29like you said went over to the Commanders by the way how about the job Josh Harris and Adam Peters have
05:33done oh yeah third year he's on the team NFC championship came off the Snyder regime so they
05:40loved them right off the bat second down and 12 a little floater there and it's caught and taken down
05:47in the 25 yard line is Chris Brooks Bobby Wagner making the stop there Bobby Wagner of course he
05:54was played in Seattle Dan Quinn was his defensive coordinator in the two Super Bowls that Seattle
06:02played back to back 13 and 14 here's a man who played almost every snap last season every snap
06:09last week and every snap so far tonight incredible to think we asked him about his workout regimen he
06:13just talked about basically everything I mean you name it he is doing it to try to keep his body right
06:18very intentional about keeping healthy and being able to play at the level that he plays at
06:23in his 14th year 35 years of age huge third down third and 11 love under pressure gets out signals downfield
06:34going for it all and incomplete a little jostling going on downfield pass a little under thrown
06:40Dobbs and Lattimore fourth and 11 I tell you go back to that holding by John Fitzpatrick if he doesn't have
06:47that holding call that is a first down with a ball at about the 40 yard line and plenty of time to be able
06:52to get points on the board so the commanders catch a break with that hold they push them back and now
06:57they get off the field so instead of potentially 17 to 3 who knows 21 to 3 not only do they get the stop
07:04now they get the ball back still 214 to go and still a chance to put points on the board themselves
07:10Daniel Whalen second punt of the night first one for 54 yards
07:18backing up feeling it at the 19 yard line lane feeling lane to the 44 yard line
07:29well he mentioned it before here it is officially NBA coming to prime with exclusive coverage of more than 80
07:36regular season games the cup play in playoff coverage league pass more the NBA on prime and it starts on October 24th
07:49very wraparound show Taylor Rooks is going to post that she's phenomenal
07:56and a good lineup Kirk Levitsky is there Blake Griffin Steve Nash if it's anything like our pregame show that that will be an awesome
08:04awesome show must see TV talked about how Daniels has dealt with his pass rush in the corner sitting on routes he's only had two attempts over 10 yards through the air
08:15final play before the two minute warning first down from the 43 yard line
08:20rush for Daniels keeping it get out of bounds a little shy of the first down in the second and two takes us to the two minute warning
08:31with 155 to go with 155 to go in the half and the Packers up by 11
08:38at Lambeau
08:42Thursday night there they are state farm halftime show our fab five at dinner with that gang last night boy we were done by nine o'clock I'm not sure they were
08:55are you kidding me there they are I know sure am I got you I wouldn't even have time here you man I tiptoed out I was like oh yeah these guys know how to get after it on a Wednesday night now you think coming up at the half Sterling Sharp will be honored there he is with his
09:10jacket from Canton his name will go up on the facade here meanwhile it's second down and two for the commanders from the 49 yard line
09:21and pulling ahead as enough of the first down here is Austin Eckler so they have all three timeouts I mean if they go in 14-6 or 14 yeah what an opportunity here and really just a great example of just kind of weathering a storm about everything that could have gone wrong has but here they are 14-3 with the ball across midfield
09:43inside hand over here about five yards for Eckler here second down keep that clock running
09:54James still with a backup guard Chris Paul on the on the left side Sam Cosby by the way not starting he's he's on pump as well so he playing with two backup guards
10:05second and five stoppage here I mean the perfect scenario for these guys would be to score and leave Green Bay with no time on the clock he's gonna get the ball to start the second half that's right
10:18and again I you know not to just continue to beat this to death but but it's the little things that can impact the game Tunsil's a vet he's got the crowd noise and look who's across from him he wants to get that early start
10:31on a pass rush against Parsons that's five yards going the wrong way five yard penalty second down Tunsil is no stranger to that call
10:40league high 12 full starts last season at the clock to 59 seconds it'll start on my ready
10:46that's a a grizzled veteran and still he's got to worry about getting that head start to get into protect get into pass pro
10:55most veterans are grizzled aren't they second and ten
11:00from the 46 underneath some blocking there and it's the most Samuel who thought would play a bigger part in the game and may in the second half but for Samuel he gets into the action here
11:15third and four 40 seconds all three timeouts
11:21yeah they're gonna milk it until they have to take a timeout
11:24they're not leaving Green Bay anytime if possible see Debo Samuel can make a play here trying to get open find some space
11:33out of the slot
11:34Daniels looks the other way now he comes back to the right now he's gonna go deep downfield
11:40and it's batted down along the sideline there
11:42Ecuador was the intended receiver
11:44and Xavier McKinney had a great year last year after coming over from the Giants
11:49back to the way fourth down
11:51the get off I think is one of the ten there's many things and many attributes of Parsons has but look at that get off that that's why guys like Tunsil want to get that head start to try to get back before he's able to go buy him
12:03time they move the pocket to try to give him some time and there he's again smiling over Parsons like I'm getting close I'm getting close
12:11well here's gay who's gonna try
12:13fifty eight yard field goal last one was good from fifty one and gaze kick this time is no good so it leaves 14 seconds on the clock and gives Green Bay a chance from midfield to try to get into field goal range or better
12:31but the operation there looked pretty good good snap good hold hold just pulled it a bit there had the distance
12:45so there's the the Packer bench going no good we got well you got the ball three timeouts something you're gonna get to use all three
12:5314 seconds what you're
12:54but you're in midfield and you're not that far away.
12:58You know, these days, especially with McManus,
13:00who's been terrific from field goal range.
13:03There's definitely an opportunity here,
13:05especially with the way that Lobby and his receivers have been playing.
13:08They've got a ton of yards after the catch.
13:10In fact, 119 yards already after the catch.
13:13See what they can do here.
13:19Deep drop.
13:21Throw on the sideline.
13:23He's going to hold in and out of bounds goes on Tavion Wicks.
13:28He doesn't have to really run to the huddle because his clock stopped with him going OB.
13:33Eight seconds now in a 14-yard gain.
13:36Just really good, comfortable rhythm there by Jordan Love,
13:39who got pressured and just kind of felt it, no problem,
13:42moved a bit to his right in the pocket, got his feet under him,
13:45and threw an absolute dime right where it needed to be to be able to get out of bounds.
13:50If you don't gain a yard here, you're looking at about a 55-yard field goal attempt.
13:57And Jacobs will try to move him closer, and he does, and he'll take the time out here.
14:02So Josh Jacobs,
14:03taking it down to the 31-yard line, timeout taken.
14:12McManus has had a really good career, 12th year in the league,
14:17and most of the time, of course, with Denver.
14:19And you'll love this.
14:20This gives you an idea about Josh Jacobs.
14:23Just the awareness, right?
14:24Talk about his leadership, accountability,
14:27in case the coaches aren't on top of it.
14:28There he is, down, making sure the timeout is made.
14:34So Matt, Wojcic will snap it.
14:37Daniel Whelan will hold it.
14:43McManus and Wojcic, I think, are the only guys on this roster over 30.
14:4648-yard attempt is off the upright.
14:54No good.
14:59Oh, to John Madden.
15:01Doink.
15:02That is the sound it makes.
15:04Doink.
15:05That's the half.
15:06Green Bay on top.
15:09274 total yards for them.
15:1113 first downs to Washington's floor.
15:1411-point lead.
15:16We go to Kaylee.
15:18Well, Dan, you'll take that doink, I'm sure.
15:21But what do you need to do to get the Packers off the field in the second half?
15:24Yeah, for sure.
15:24That's the whole key to this thing.
15:25We've got to get some stops.
15:26We start off with the ball, so it's important for us to gain some momentum early.
15:30We want to be bold, be aggressive.
15:31We thought we had a shot here to get some points at the end of the half.
15:33But, yeah, we've got a lot to work on and improve here for the second half,
15:36especially on third downs, defensively, and then converting them on offense.
15:40Yeah, what has that biggest challenge been for your offense to get going?
15:43I feel like it's been the third downs on both sides.
15:45We've got to get that part nailed.
15:47If we do, we can extend drives and play like we want to, especially on offense.
15:50Thanks, guys.
15:52All right, thank you, Kaylee.
15:53Thank you, Dan.
15:54Coming up after the break, State Farm Halftime Show with Carissa Ann McGatts.
15:58Welcome, everybody, to the State Farm Halftime Show.
16:10We welcome you back to Lambeau Field, where everyone was excited to see who would make a statement.
16:15So far, it's been Green Bay's offense.
16:17The Packers have their first game with two 90-yard touchdown drives since 2018,
16:22and they lead this one 14-3 at the half.
16:25Hello, everybody, I'm Carissa Thompson alongside Tony Gonzalez, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Andrew Whitworth, and Richard Sherman.
16:30All right, there's a lot to like if you're a Packers fan.
16:33Fitzy, I want to start with you.
16:34Jordan Love, 214 passing yards for him in the first half, the most in his career.
16:38What have you seen that you like?
16:39He is airing it out.
16:40They're loaded in the box.
16:42They've already stuck with a run, 12 runs for Josh Jacobs.
16:44But Jordan Love is averaging 15 yards a pass.
16:4915 yards a pass.
16:50He is airing that thing out.
16:52They're tied on the line of scrimmage.
16:53The great thing with this offense is it's so multiple.
16:55There are so many different guys that are getting involved.
16:58This one here was great pocket movement.
17:00Unfortunately, it came back for the penalty.
17:02This just gives you a little bit of a sense of what they're trying to do.
17:05The first one was Jaden Reed.
17:07Then we got Tucker Kraft up the seam.
17:10He's had an amazing game so far.
17:12Jordan Love has an intention this game to push the ball down the field.
17:16What do we see here?
17:17There were two times, not one, but two.
17:20He barely misses Matthew Golden down the field.
17:23And then as if they weren't deep enough, Malik Heath down the sideline.
17:28These guys can do it in a lot of different ways.
17:31And he is airing that thing out today.
17:33It's been really impressive in the first half.
17:34Yeah, and I think that, like I said in the pregame show, this is the new Jordan Love.
17:37I'm telling you, going into that third year,
17:39you can see the confidence.
17:40Matt LaForte has all the confidence in him to call those plays
17:43where he's going to take those deep shots down the field.
17:45There is no excuse for him to go out,
17:47to not to go out there and do what he's been doing.
17:49In my opinion, you got Josh Jacobs,
17:50one of the best running backs in the league with that run threat.
17:52So all the defenses are going to play up.
17:54And he is airing that thing out.
17:56How many players?
17:56I said he is a plethora of wide receivers, probably the most in the NFL.
18:02I'm talking from top to bottom.
18:03He has five, six main guys that he could throw the ball to.
18:06That is something that's going to take this team a long way.
18:10And Sherman, on the other side of the ball,
18:11this Washington team, as Al said, we thought we'd see a lot more.
18:15Green Bay's done a nice job of holding them to only three points.
18:18How?
18:19Well, I talked to Jeff Halfley earlier today,
18:21and he talked about the disguises,
18:22but also the speed in which his team plays with.
18:25They're using Micah Parsons in so many different ways in this cheetah package,
18:29whether it's inside or outside.
18:31And it's causing chaos.
18:32You see these guys out here.
18:34They look like ravenous wolves out here.
18:36Everybody, they're swarming.
18:37The effort is there.
18:38And then you see, isolating them inside,
18:41the double team attracting attention,
18:43causing chaos, causing attention,
18:45and freeing up other guys.
18:46Then you've got to play here,
18:47where guys are just getting free.
18:49Because Micah Parsons is creating
18:52and affecting this offensive line in a big way.
18:56You can see, hands to the face.
18:57So now you've got Laramie Tunsil, a veteran,
19:00feeling like he's got to get out of there
19:01because Micah Parsons is in front of them.
19:03This defensive line is playing well.
19:05The secondary disguising well.
19:06They're playing fantastic football.
19:07Yeah, and that penalty led to them missing a field goal there on that drive as well.
19:10But that's really what you see.
19:12You know, I talked to you guys pregame a little bit about it.
19:13I was interested to see where do they put Micah Parsons.
19:15If they're going to help the right tackle,
19:16do they move him somewhere else?
19:18And that's what they've done in this game.
19:19They've made sure to put him mostly to the left side of the offensive line,
19:22finding ways to twist,
19:23put him in the middle against those centers and guards,
19:26and find that matchup.
19:27Now, how do the Commanders adjust their protections
19:29and figure out a way to create Jaden Daniels more opportunities
19:32to throw the football down the field?
19:34Yeah, the Commanders gave up only six points all of last week to the Giants.
19:37They've given up 14 points here in the first half.
19:40Next week, we're taking this party to Buffalo
19:41as reigning MVP Josh Allen and the Bills host Tua and the Dolphins
19:46in an AFC East matchup.
19:48Our coverage starts at 7 p.m. Eastern
19:50with CNF tonight only on Prime.
19:52And as we go to break, a look at Josh Jacobs scoring.
19:57From two yards out, his 10th straight regular season game with a rushing touchdown.
20:02We will be back in Green Bay in just a moment.
20:05Time now for tonight's Don't Settle Moment presented by State Farm.
20:16And for that, we're going back to the first quarter.
20:18Jordan Love scrambling on third and nine,
20:20lowering his shoulder and picking up that first down.
20:23Followed that up with a five-yard touchdown pass on the next play.
20:27Don't do that again.
20:27You are not happy about that, Tony.
20:29Packers fans were, though.
20:30Fitz, what do the Commanders need to do to turn this thing around in the second half?
20:33Well, I think Bill Krosky-Meritt has to have a bigger role in the game.
20:37They've got to start handing off the ball a little bit.
20:39And the second thing is, where is Terry McLaurin?
20:41And the thing that hurt me when I'm watching, it's a three-by-one formation.
20:45The single receiver's got to be your go-to guy.
20:47No offense to Noah Brown.
20:48He makes $3 million a year.
20:50Terry McLaurin makes $30 million a year.
20:52Keyshawn Nixon didn't even back up on that hitch route.
20:55We've got to get Terry McLaurin involved in the offense.
20:58And on defense, 124 yards after the catch given up by the Commanders defense.
21:02They've got to get these Volcares on the ground.
21:04Before we get out of here, congratulations to former Packers wide receiver Sterling Sharp,
21:08who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame last month.
21:11Tonight, he was honored at halftime, becoming the 30th name added to the Lambeau Field facade.
21:17The Packers jumped out to a 14-0 lead, thanks to a pair of long touchdown drives and a strong defense.
21:23They lead by 11 going into the second half.
21:25We will see you guys post-game.
21:26Thanks for watching the State Farm Halftime Show.
21:29There it goes.
21:31Singular venue in the National Football League, Lambeau Field,
21:34as the Packers take the field and take on the Washington Commanders on Thursday night football.
21:43A big pass, caught, touchdown!
21:45And Green Bay, Romeo, Dodds.
21:49And the ball handed off, and the tack was made right away.
21:52And into the end zone he goes.
21:54Touchdown, Packers.
21:58Halftime score, 14-3.
22:02Green Bay Packers on top of the Washington Commanders.
22:06Beautiful shot.
22:07Lambeau Field, Green Bay 290-yard touchdown drives tonight.
22:11First time the Pack had done that since 2018 against the Jets.
22:15And now Jacobs into the end zone.
22:17Ten straight regular season games with a touchdown.
22:20Plus he had one in the postseason game.
22:22It's 11 straight.
22:24And there is a reflection of the one-sidedness,
22:29one-sidedness, even though the score is only an 11-point difference.
22:31Correctly.
22:33214 yards for Love.
22:35And Daniels with 49 yards on 15 attempts.
22:40Commanders to get the ball.
22:54McManus sends it down to the 7.
22:59This is Deebo Samuel.
23:01Samuel breaks loose.
23:02Out past the 40 into Green Bay territory.
23:07And that's exactly what Washington was looking for to start the second half.
23:10Meanwhile, Kaylee with LeFleur.
23:13Matt, you've got two backup offensive linemen in
23:16and another hot start for this offense.
23:18What's been the key to their execution?
23:21Well, everybody's doing their job.
23:23And so, you know, unfortunately,
23:26we should have more points than we do right now.
23:28We've had a couple critical errors.
23:30We've had too many penalties, and we can't do that to ourselves.
23:33Your defense is heading back on the field.
23:35What do you need to do to continue to limit
23:37one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the league?
23:39Yeah, we've got to take it one play at a time like they've been doing.
23:42I think our guys have been locked in.
23:43They're flying to the football,
23:45and it's going to take that relentless energy and effort in the second half.
23:49Thanks, Matt.
23:49Yep, thanks.
23:51Well, Washington starts with a 50-yard run back from Samuel.
23:55And then the first play is a 5-yard gain for Jokori Krosky-Merrick.
24:00The rookie second down and 5.
24:02Well, that's what the commanders needed, a big return here.
24:04They start in plus territory.
24:06It's been a tough first half.
24:08We just talked about the job that this Green Bay defense has done against DQ's offense.
24:14They've only played man coverage twice,
24:16just playing a ton of zone and winning up front at the line of scrimmage.
24:20Second and 6.
24:23And throws it at the feet of the rookie that time.
24:28Incomplete.
24:28Lucas Van Ness forced that issue.
24:32Third and 6.
24:32It's been interesting to see Micah Parsons really embrace Lucas Van Ness,
24:37who he ended up taking his job.
24:38And maybe 90's hanging out with one here.
24:41Look at this kid off here by 90.
24:43I mean, that's a running start.
24:45And they really feel that now that he, you know, coming out of Iowa,
24:48his third year as a first-rounder, starting to kind of turn it loose.
24:51Power, straight length.
24:54And now the good thing about with Parsons here,
24:55they can move 90 inside as well to get them both on the field together
24:59in passing situations like this right here.
25:02Played about half the snaps last week.
25:07Probably in that area tonight.
25:08Third down and 6 now from the 40-yard line.
25:13And 2 for 7 in that first half on third down.
25:15Again, a lot of zone and a lot of just trusting their front four
25:18to be able to get the pressure.
25:20And Corral Daniels not let him get out and escape
25:22and scramble for the first down.
25:25Ben McLaurin and Samuel stacked on the left side.
25:29Backer showed blitz for a second.
25:34Back off.
25:35Will he come again?
25:36Send the extra man.
25:38Daniels under pressure at the 31-yard line.
25:41Over the middle.
25:43Completes the pass to Zach Ertz,
25:45the longtime tight end, 13 years in the National Football League.
25:49They had the big touchdown in Philadelphia's Super Bowl win back in 17.
25:53You saw LaGuardia look back and say,
25:55we got pressure here, we got pressure.
25:56Good job.
25:57The delayed blitz there ends up not really impacting Jaden Daniels.
26:02Good job of waiting, waiting, eyes.
26:04And then he's able to work through his progressions
26:06with enough time there on third down to get that first.
26:09Feebus penetration for Washington tonight
26:11to the 31 of the Packers.
26:17Inside handoff here.
26:18And we call him Bill Krosky-Marrick.
26:23That's his nickname.
26:24He loves it.
26:24That's what the guys call him.
26:26Clay Walker makes the stop.
26:27Yeah, they'd love to see him get going.
26:31You know, without Brian Robinson,
26:32Eckler is really more of a third down back at this stage of his career in his ninth year.
26:36So, the rookie out of Arizona really has got to become a guy that can take some of the pressure off his passing game and off at Jaden Daniels.
26:44You know, he only played one game in Arizona, started in Alabama State, went to New Mexico.
26:48Crazy eligibility issue.
26:51Pass to the outside.
26:53He's caught.
26:53I'm trying to fight his way for a little extra years.
26:57Look at all the white shirts there.
26:58Yeah, Debo Samuel.
27:00They're wearing their white winter warning jerseys tonight, which is so funny.
27:05I mean, I've done a lot of night games in the stadium.
27:08It's the first time, and I actually say, perfect football weather.
27:12First time?
27:12Well, because this is ideal.
27:14Usually, you're here, and it's 30 degrees.
27:16Yeah, December is the end rate.
27:17Yeah.
27:18This is perfect.
27:19Perfect.
27:20Absolutely.
27:20Now, the third down here for Daniels, third and three.
27:33You have to rookie with Parsons now on the right side of the offense.
27:37Blake Lockett, one.
27:39Just get it off.
27:41Step it up.
27:42Blake Crone.
27:43Normally in the area of holding, and the Parsons gets in there.
27:47Just circled the matchup knowing that they thought they may try to help him,
27:55but they left him on an island against Micah Parsons.
27:58Tough on anybody, but especially a rookie.
28:01Holding.
28:02Can left tackle in college.
28:04Gets way too far to the outside because of the respect he had for his speed.
28:08It's almost like Micah Parsons expected that.
28:10He thought he might be jumping, so he worked back to the inside,
28:13and all the rookie could do is grab onto him for the hole.
28:17Still didn't really matter.
28:19So the penalty is declined to make it fourth down.
28:24Could it push them back 10 more yards, but they've chosen this option,
28:29which gives Washington the chance to kick a 52-yard field goal.
28:33So Matt Gay, who's already banged in one from 51, and this one, another doink.
28:45No good.
28:50D-O-I-N-K, there it is to him tonight.
28:5411-54 left in the third.
28:57Had the distance.
28:59Off the upright.
29:00Still 14-3.
29:10Off we go next Thursday night to Buffalo.
29:14And the Bills off to that spectacular comeback against Baltimore.
29:19We'll meet the Jets in Week 2.
29:22Miami will try to rebound as they take on New England in Week 2.
29:27We'll be there for the following week.
29:30Miami at Buffalo on Thursday night football.
29:35Parsons congratulating the boys up front as Love goes back to pass
29:42and throws deep over the middle, and it's caught at the 35-yard line.
29:47Sends that pass into Luke Musgrave.
29:50The backup tight end gets saluted with a chant of Luke for 23 yards.
29:57He gets an opportunity here.
29:59Watch him work on this route.
30:01He'll work to the middle.
30:02Really impact the safety before he works back to the outside.
30:05A little move.
30:06A little hesitation move.
30:09Able to get great separation.
30:11In fact, turn the safety completely around.
30:13It seems like every time the commanders sit back with a one high-safety look,
30:18Love has time to throw.
30:19He's now 10 of 12, over 200 yards passing against that look.
30:25Six different receivers that Love has hit tonight.
30:28He gets hit as he throws.
30:31And throws it out of bounds.
30:32That time Quan Martin came in from the secondary to force it second and turn.
30:36You really feel that Joe Witt is going to have to continue to mix it up.
30:39Usually, based on what they did last week, they're confident enough that they think
30:43they can get home with just being able to rely on their front.
30:46But that's not been the case tonight.
30:48And with the wise injury, I think you'll see Joe Witt continue to try to look for ways
30:51to try to disrupt his timing.
30:53Because when Love's sitting back there against zone with his feet under him,
30:57he's able to put the ball right where he wants to.
31:00It's funny.
31:00We see so many quarterbacks talking about throwing off-platform.
31:04Love focuses trying to throw on-platform.
31:06Inside give, big hole, exploited by Jacobs.
31:13Should be a first down.
31:14See where they spot it.
31:16John Baptiste making the tackle.
31:18Official comes in.
31:20Looks at the down judge, put it on the line.
31:24First down.
31:25That is a ball that was intended to bounce as an outside zone,
31:29but he has such good vision and feel for that.
31:32He's so patient.
31:33The runner was short of the line of the game.
31:35Ah, there you go.
31:37So originally it's called a first down.
31:39They called down from upstairs and say he's short,
31:43which means instead of a first and ten,
31:49they're going to make it third, I think third and one.
31:53Yeah, a little inside it, about a yard.
31:56But, yeah, great vision as always from Jacobson.
31:59He's able to get more than south.
32:01So tough with his leverage.
32:03Gets down low.
32:04Off the fake.
32:12Wide open to the outside.
32:14And once again he goes to Luke Musgrave.
32:17And by Channing Luke,
32:19St. Roussel makes the tackle.
32:22First down at the 17-yard line.
32:24Yeah, a short week you just wondered,
32:26this defense is tired, fatigued.
32:28Right now just the middle fatigue.
32:30There's just a late reaction there from St. Rille
32:34with a tight end that ends up going over in motion.
32:38Made it very easy.
32:39Third and very, very short.
32:41Maybe expecting a run,
32:42but getting over second or third time,
32:44we've seen the secondary react pretty slowly to emotion.
32:47319 or something.
32:50On the ground again.
32:52Jacobs burrows his way
32:53with a flag down, 14-yard line.
32:55Brad Rogers signals it's against Green Bay,
33:00so that'll push him back.
33:02Holding.
33:03Offense.
33:04Number 75.
33:05Pin-yard penalty.
33:07First down.
33:08You know, you see Matt LaFleur.
33:09LaFleur actually coached under Dan Quinn for two years
33:13as we look at the play again with Ryan.
33:16At Atlanta.
33:17Right.
33:18And.
33:18Interesting what he said about.
33:20Fabulous.
33:20He said it was life-changing
33:21to see a different style and environment.
33:24couldn't have spoken more highly about Dan Quinn,
33:27as a lot of people do.
33:28Yeah, he talked about having fun,
33:30but at the same time being focused
33:31and just being able to find that right balance.
33:34It can be tricky to do,
33:35and for him to say life-changing as a coach,
33:38I think it says it all.
33:39Yeah.
33:43First and 20,
33:44and another flag here.
33:49Offense.
33:50Number 85.
33:51Five-yard penalty.
33:53First down.
33:53Well, he really meant life-changing.
33:55Here was the greeting between the two of them
33:58before the game.
34:03That tells you everything.
34:04Yeah, no doubt.
34:07Dan Quinn, of course, he coached the Legion of Boom
34:10with Richard Sherman and company in Seattle
34:13on one Super Bowl on one Super Bowl.
34:15Lost the other,
34:16and then for him,
34:18the 28-3 loss to New England
34:20when they were up 23 in the Super Bowl.
34:24First and 25.
34:27Love fires open inside the 20.
34:30We go to the tight end.
34:32Kraft.
34:33So it was first and 25.
34:36They're still shy here.
34:3819-yard game makes the second down and six.
34:41And there's again Kraft.
34:42This is like a form of a Tampa 2
34:44where you get two safeties dropped,
34:45you get a linebacker drops through the middle,
34:47and now you open up a crease right there
34:50because the middle linebacker had to follow
34:52that vertical threat
34:54and a good job of being patient there by Jordan Love.
34:57They've been able to attack these vertical seams
34:59with the tight end,
35:01making this defense pay for it.
35:03in a tight formation
35:11on second and six.
35:14Give it to the big man, Jacobs.
35:21And that's going to be
35:22the first down.
35:25After that holding call,
35:26they had a first and 25
35:28that they were able to overcome now
35:30and get that first down,
35:31really trying to wear down
35:33this commander's defense,
35:35already trailing 14-3.
35:38Now really trying to lean on them
35:40with not just the ability to throw the football,
35:43but also running the ball with Jacobs.
35:46They're averaging 8 1⁄2 yards per play.
35:51This is play number 41.
35:54Pressured.
35:56Looking downfield,
35:58throwing and throws it away
36:00to make it second down and goal.
36:04So Jordan Love,
36:06you know,
36:06it's interesting because
36:07you see somebody like McCarthy the other night
36:10or Daniels last year
36:11starting right away
36:13as they start their careers.
36:14He, of course,
36:15like Aaron Rodgers behind Brett Favre,
36:18had to wait those three years.
36:19And he said,
36:20it was a great experience
36:22to play three years behind Aaron Rodgers.
36:24Yeah,
36:24I think each quarterback,
36:25you know,
36:25every story is different,
36:27but I love the fact
36:28that he turned that into a positive
36:29and said,
36:30man,
36:30what an opportunity to learn
36:32from one of the best to ever do it.
36:33And, you know,
36:34by the time I was ready
36:35in my fourth year,
36:36it was my turn
36:36and I was ready to go.
36:38Second and goal.
36:40Here goes Jacobs
36:40to the outside,
36:42trying to bust a tackle,
36:43but they stop him
36:44at third and goal.
36:46Juan Martin is there
36:47for the hit.
36:48He said he learned little things
36:49like the preparation
36:51and the intensity
36:51of film study
36:52and just really grew.
36:53And by the time
36:54he got the keys,
36:56he was really in a great spot.
36:58Other guys,
36:58you know,
36:58like Jaden Daniels,
36:59he walks in as a rookie
37:01and gets to the NFC Championship.
37:02So each set of circumstances
37:04can be different,
37:06but it's definitely paying off
37:07for him now
37:08in his third year as a starter.
37:09A lot of guys
37:10wouldn't handle it that way.
37:11It was a first-round track choice.
37:12But Rodgers had to go through that, too.
37:15Huge third down here
37:16for both teams.
37:16Third and goal at the four.
37:25Strips to the left.
37:26Looks that way.
37:28Has to escape.
37:30And this one,
37:31he throws away.
37:32So,
37:33they needed to hold him
37:36to a field goal,
37:38and that's what they've done.
37:40Now,
37:40right before the ball was snapped,
37:42Matt LaFleur,
37:43he must have seen something
37:44he didn't like.
37:44He was trying to get
37:45the officials' attention
37:46and he got up,
37:47trying to get a timeout,
37:49trying to get anybody's attention
37:50to no avail.
37:52Ball was snapped right after that.
37:54Pretty good vertical jump.
37:55Not bad at all.
37:56No.
37:58Not Olympic quality,
37:59what can I tell you?
38:0122-yard field goal attempt
38:03for McManus.
38:06Well,
38:06then puts it down,
38:07and that kick is good
38:09by not much.
38:10But that makes it
38:13Green Bay 17,
38:15Washington 3.
38:17Hello to the great Bart star.
38:23Time now for Driven for More,
38:26presented by Hyundai.
38:27Big deals in Dallas.
38:29Big D.
38:30Luka Doncic,
38:31of course,
38:31traded from the Mavericks
38:33to the Lakers,
38:33which was stunning
38:34and totally unexpected.
38:37And then,
38:37of course,
38:37with Micah Parsons
38:39going from Dallas
38:40to Green Bay,
38:41that was stunning,
38:43but not necessarily
38:44unexpected.
38:45Because he talked about
38:46getting out of Dallas
38:47because of the impasse
38:49with Jerry Jones
38:50over the contract,
38:51but the two gigantic stars
38:53leaving Big D.
38:55Both in their prime.
38:57Yeah.
38:59Have you ever seen
39:00a city lose two superstars
39:01like that in their prime?
39:04Can't take a one
39:05from the goal line.
39:07Debo Samuel
39:08will run it out.
39:1027-yard line.
39:12We were talking
39:12to Parsons the other day.
39:14You know,
39:14it's one thing
39:15to get acclimated
39:16to the play on the field.
39:17He said,
39:18what about off the field?
39:19He said,
39:19well,
39:19they gave me a big truck.
39:20I got an Airbnb
39:21and I'm eating
39:23at Texas Roadhouse.
39:24He told us
39:25he weighs 248.
39:26Wants to get to 240.
39:28I said,
39:28he ain't going to get
39:28into Texas Roadhouse.
39:30Better find a vegan place.
39:31Well,
39:32he said,
39:33you know,
39:33growing up in Harrisburg,
39:34he feels comfortable
39:35in this setting.
39:37You know,
39:37by the way,
39:38this is like a village.
39:39What a great community.
39:40If you're a football fan
39:42and you've never been here,
39:43you need to visit.
39:44It's as good of a place
39:46for football as there is,
39:47but I think,
39:48if you think about Dallas
39:50on the other end of this,
39:51you know,
39:52trying to lose the city
39:53and their fans
39:54what they're dealing
39:55with losing those superstars.
39:58Giving the Dallas
39:58well,
39:59definitely Anthony Davis
40:00and they got Cooper flag
40:01from the 27-yard line.
40:06Daniels hit as he throws.
40:08Game of about eight here.
40:09Let's go to Kaylee.
40:11Guys,
40:11Mike has told us
40:12he hasn't talked to Luka
40:13since before the trade,
40:15but he wants to reach out
40:16to him too.
40:17He sees the same parallels
40:18that we do
40:19in their experiences
40:20and he put it quite frankly,
40:21saying there's nothing
40:22more motivating
40:23than when you find out
40:24that people you love
40:25don't truly believe in you
40:27and they thought less of you.
40:29He said,
40:29there's nothing
40:30more motivating.
40:31Well,
40:32he looked pretty motivated
40:33last week.
40:34Yep.
40:35Motivated tonight.
40:38Approaching the prime
40:39of his career.
40:39It was only in his fifth season.
40:40That's true.
40:41Knocking on it.
40:41Knocking on the board.
40:42Yep.
40:42Second down and three
40:43after the seven-yard gain.
40:45Nothing out of the backfield here.
40:48Eckler tackled by
40:49Edren Cooper.
40:50Third down.
40:51With all the talk
40:52about Carson,
40:53some of the things
40:54that get lost
40:55about this defense
40:56are the other pieces
40:57and what I think
40:58I've seen the growth of
40:59is Quay Walker
41:00and Edren Cooper
41:01playing together.
41:02These two linebackers
41:03are no longer hesitating.
41:05They are getting downhill
41:06because there's a better
41:07fundamental understanding
41:08of this scheme
41:09and they play with
41:10great length
41:11and great communication
41:12in the interior
41:13of this defense.
41:14Third down and three.
41:19Extra pressure.
41:20Look out.
41:21Pass is incomplete.
41:22That time it was
41:23Cooper who came in.
41:25Just talked about him.
41:27He makes his presence
41:28felt again.
41:29Whether it's against a run
41:30or his ability
41:32to rush the quarterback.
41:34And again,
41:34it's not always
41:34Micah Parsons here.
41:36It's just a matter of
41:36how do you impact Daniels
41:38who's a threat
41:38to run the football
41:39and can do so many good things.
41:41You get in there
41:42and get into his face.
41:43What we talk about
41:44throughout the entire
41:45first half,
41:45especially in a third down
41:46situation,
41:47the ball has got to
41:48come out fast,
41:49makes it tough
41:50on the quarterback
41:50with those corners
41:52just sitting on
41:52those short routes.
41:54Meanwhile,
41:54the Packers now
41:55in six and a half quarters
41:56have allowed only
41:58one touchdown
41:58and that was a garbage
41:59time touchdown
42:00for the Lions
42:01for the Lions on Sunday.
42:03Weigh's fourth punt
42:04of the night.
42:06Fielded at the 29-yard line
42:09and smothered right away
42:10is Keyshawn Nixon
42:11and a flag.
42:12So says Brad Rodgers.
42:34During the kick,
42:34holding,
42:36return to team number 36.
42:38Half the distance to the goal
42:39at the end of the kick.
42:40First down.
42:41Timeout.
42:42Takes us to a commercial
42:43with 5-04 to play
42:45in the third.
42:46Parsons on the bike.
42:48Packed up by 14.
42:49Now let's take a look
42:53at our next-gen stats
42:54powered by AWS
42:56and it again
42:57is about this
42:58tight end,
42:59Tucker Craft.
43:00We knew coming in
43:00he could have a big impact,
43:02especially yards
43:03after the catch.
43:04You can see 78 yards
43:05after the catch tonight.
43:06Look what he did
43:07last year in the NFL.
43:09Led all tight ends
43:10in yards after the catch
43:11per reception,
43:12almost 10 yards.
43:14And tonight,
43:15he's over 100 yards
43:16receiving,
43:17but having a great night,
43:18doing a good job
43:19for a guy
43:20that's 260 pounds
43:21after the reception.
43:25108 receiving yards
43:26for him.
43:28Pack starts this drive
43:29from their own
43:30nine-yard line.
43:35Jacobs.
43:36Heavy workload
43:37for him tonight.
43:39That's his 16th
43:40carry for 61 yards.
43:42He's averaging
43:42close to four yards
43:43per tote.
43:44Remember that,
43:45the two times
43:46they have started
43:46to drive inside
43:47their own 10-yard line.
43:49The results,
43:50both of them,
43:50have been touchdowns.
43:51Only two touchdowns
43:52of the night.
43:53Well,
43:54it's not a full moon,
43:55but I believe it's,
43:56Keith Jackson
43:57would call that
43:58a possum-hunting moon.
44:00You hunt possum
44:01down there in Nashville, right?
44:05One of our favorite guys
44:08of all time,
44:09K.J.
44:12Jacobs picks up a yard.
44:13I saw the moon
44:14a couple nights ago
44:15and I thought about
44:16this game
44:17and I thought,
44:17my man's gonna pull out.
44:20Well,
44:20that was three nights ago.
44:20Joe Buck wasn't sure
44:21it was a full moon.
44:22It was close enough.
44:23That's, you know,
44:24what can I tell you?
44:26I look at that thing
44:26and I said,
44:27people landed on that thing?
44:29That's great.
44:30The alarm is strong.
44:31Oh, my God.
44:33What a night and day
44:33that was, huh?
44:351969.
44:37I'm looking at it.
44:38How about that?
44:39Great shot.
44:40Fabulous shot.
44:41Lambeau Field.
44:43Third down and eight.
44:54Love in the end zone
44:55just gets it away.
44:58And that's almost
44:59Bobby Wagner
45:00at 35.
45:02Still doing the job.
45:03And they dialed it up.
45:04They brought a lot.
45:05They had a lot of bodies
45:06up close to the line
45:07of scrimmage.
45:07Had seven.
45:08Ended up just bringing five.
45:09Von Miller ended up
45:10coming off the edge late.
45:11But like you said,
45:13Bobby Wagner able to come free.
45:15They loaded up the left side
45:16of that offensive line
45:17freeing up Wagner
45:18to be able to flush
45:19Jordan Love out.
45:20And the defense does their job.
45:22Three and out.
45:23Get off the field.
45:25That's exactly what
45:26Dan Quinn told
45:27Kaylee walking off
45:28at halftime.
45:29We've got to do a better job
45:30on third down.
45:30That time they did.
45:31They're just kind of
45:32like a boxer.
45:33They're just kind of
45:33hanging in there.
45:34They've got to get
45:35this offense going.
45:36They could get within a
45:37possession.
45:38Get off the ropes.
45:40Whalen's punt.
45:42Fielded.
45:43Thirty nine yard line.
45:45Failing lane gets popped at
45:47the 50 yard line.
45:48Hangs on to it.
45:48Lane.
45:50A rookie out of Virginia Tech.
45:55Three and a half remaining in
45:56the third at Lambeau Field and
45:58this Thursday night.
45:59Seventeen three Green Bay.
46:05Think about great comparisons
46:08of great players.
46:09Go back to Derek Thomas.
46:10What a player.
46:11One of the best ever.
46:12Nine time pro bowler.
46:13Very similar size.
46:14Six three about 255 pounds.
46:16Look at that body lean.
46:17One of the great pass rushers
46:19of all time.
46:19Now look at Micah Parsons.
46:21Very similar size.
46:22Look at that body lean.
46:23Ability to come off of the edge.
46:25Forty degrees.
46:26Forty two degrees.
46:27Both of these guys.
46:28Tremendous balance.
46:29The lean has a lot to do with
46:31how the bend has a lot to do
46:33with how they're able to get
46:34around that corner.
46:35Yeah that's a great demo.
46:37How tough it is to block a guy
46:39at that angle.
46:41As Washington takes over
46:43the 50 yard line.
46:44Good protection for Daniels.
46:46Down the sideline and incomplete.
46:49Coverage good.
46:50Brown the intended receiver.
46:52Covered there by Nixon.
46:53Second and ten.
46:54They went empty here.
46:55Just trying to spread this
46:57defense out.
46:58Somebody's got to be able to
46:59make a play.
46:59A little stuttering go this time
47:01from Noah Brown.
47:02It's been tough to get the ball
47:03downfield.
47:04We haven't seen very many shots
47:06here.
47:06In phase.
47:07Pretty good coverage.
47:08The only thing Nixon has a hard
47:09time locating the ball.
47:10That's why Brown actually had a
47:12chance there by jumping.
47:14Maybe affected his eyes there
47:16to make that catch.
47:18Second and ten.
47:20Fired over the middle.
47:21That's complete.
47:23Trying to back his way into a
47:25first down.
47:25That is Ertz.
47:26Tackled there by Cooper.
47:28Two yards shy.
47:29Third and a deuce.
47:30Another veteran.
47:31We keep talking about the
47:32comparisons from the youngest
47:33team to the oldest team.
47:34Zach Ertz still getting it done.
47:3634 years old.
47:3713th year.
47:38Out of Stanford.
47:39Sets up a third and one.
47:44Third about a yard and a half.
47:46And trying to burrow his way for
47:50that first down is Eckler.
47:53Tackled by Evan Williams.
47:55The officials come in.
47:56They spot it.
47:58Initially a little bit short.
48:00There it is.
48:00A little short of the first
48:02down.
48:04Boy what a job of getting
48:05penetration.
48:05Everybody wondered in that trade
48:07with Kenny Clark moving.
48:09What would this defense or look
48:10at this defense what they're
48:11going to be able to do that
48:12time Carl Brooks able to
48:14penetrate affected that play.
48:16Fourth and inches.
48:25Can the commanders convert?
48:27Boy I'm telling you it wasn't
48:28easy but Austin Eckler is able
48:31to pick up those inches and a
48:32few more.
48:33I mean that took a second,
48:36third, and fourth effort from
48:38Eckler because of the push that
48:40Green Bay got.
48:42Look at that.
48:42Look at that job of getting
48:43back pushing the center back
48:45into the backfield but Eckler
48:47who's met in the backfield
48:48continue to be that leg drive
48:50for the first.
48:51in the backfield.
48:52That's wouldn't do it
49:08like this fast.
49:09man here's what's going to be
49:09a large 30s inch out.
49:11We're even hungry.
49:12I'm sorry.
49:13We're getting ready to go out
49:14of there if we take it in the
49:15backfield body.
49:15If we take a 20-minute
49:15took a 3-minute
49:16and then we guess what's going on
49:17down here?
