French prosecutors say foreign nationals placed pig heads outside Paris mosques

00:00A grisly discovery outside a mosque in the 18th arrondissement of Paris on Tuesday.

00:05Another one that same morning in the Paris suburb of Malakoff with the name Macron written on the

00:09pig's head, an animal considered impure by Islam. In total, nine incidents were reported overnight

00:16in Paris and its outskirts. On Wednesday, the Paris Prosecutor's Office announced that foreign

00:21nationals were responsible. The pig heads had been placed there by foreign nationals who

00:27immediately left the country with the clear intention of causing unrest within the nation.

00:32The statement cited an eyewitness account from a Normandy farmer who said that the individuals

00:37captured on CCTV cameras bought a dozen pigs from him and that their car had Serbian license plates.

00:44It is not the first time this year that French religious institutions were targets of vandalism

00:49and desecration. In May, three Serbians were arrested after a Paris synagogue was defaced with paint.

00:55At the time, France accused Russia of attempting to sow discord within its borders.
