Sunway College’s Australian Matriculation programme (AUSMAT) is the largest overseas provider of the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).
It is also the longest running AUSMAT programme in Malaysia, fast-tracking students for entry into university for the past 35 years.

00:21One of the main takeaways would be the fact that the OSMAD program prepares students
00:29to be successful at the global stage. We are looking at how the fact that it's 50% school
00:36assessment, 50% external exam and that 50% school assessment, the skills that the students would
00:43learn which incorporates 21st century learning like problem solving, creative thinking. Now all
00:50this actually enhances the students preparation with the academic rigor that the 50% external exam
00:58gives and all these skills that they pick up from the school assessment, it really mirrors the
01:04university life. Our results are outstanding. We have about 55 to 60% of our students achieving
01:11ATAR 80 and above being the top and the 138th World Awards that we have got from School Curriculum and
01:20Standards Authority I think speaks volumes for OSMAD at Sunway.
01:24The School Curriculum and Standards Authority, SCASA, is an independent statutory body responsible for
01:30developing the curriculum and setting standards of student achievement for WACE. The partnership
01:35between Sunway College and the SCASA has evolved over 38 years with the college, demonstrating a proven
01:41track record of academic excellence during this time. The partnership has been enriched and strengthened by
01:48working with the teachers and leadership team to support teaching and assessment planning,
01:52delivering professional learning, conducting in-country visits and online meetings to help teachers
01:58understand and deliver a curriculum that promotes student achievement, conducting moderation activities
02:04that focus on the comparability of school marks and grades to support fair marking and grading of
02:09students work. We're providing networking opportunities for teachers to share examples of student work and
02:15discuss student achievement and the West Australian Premier's WACE bursary with 20 Sunway OSMAD graduates
02:24having been awarded the bursary since its inception and the support that Sunway provides the OSMAD students
02:30and their families has ensured the success and longevity of the program including their student mentoring
02:36program, their variety of special advisors, engagement sessions, among many other initiatives.

02:49delivered by Western Australian government that is recognized globally including a competitive higher
02:58education institution in Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Singapore and United States.

03:14Students need to know how to use AI effectively, ethically and we encourage students to use AI and we teach them how to do this in the best possible way because you can't run away from AI.
03:29digital literacy series every student has to go for digital literacy enrichment series that we have
03:36where they learn about their digital footprint, what that means about managing yourself, managing your EQ in the digital space.
03:47Sometimes people think that students will just pick it up on their own, no they actually need guidance.
03:54We see that that's a possibility of challenges and we prepare our students that way.
03:59Sunway students considering OSMAD are advised to embrace consistency, develop soft skills and utilize the support system which has been established to guide them through every step of their academic journey and university applications.
