Shouting broke out on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday during a moment of silence for conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Kirk was fatally shot earlier in the day during an event on Utah Valley University campus in Orem, Utah.
House Speaker Mike Johnson asked House members in the gallery "rise for a moment of prayer for Charlie Kirk and his family."
But shortly into the silence, Rep. Lauren Boebert, a Colorado Republican, spoke out from the floor to call for a spoken prayer. Democrat representatives quickly yelled back at her in response, leading to a bipartisan shouting match.
