00:00Welcome to another episode of the Galmouth Action Podcast where we took a look at all
00:15the latest goings on at Brighton, Hove Abbey and Crawley Town. I'm Matt Holt and this week
00:19I'm joined by Brighton writer Darren Howard, Crawley Town expert Mark Dunford and Sam Morton
00:23who covers both the Seagulls and the Reds. Crawley claim their first win since their
00:27relegation from League One with victory at Harrogate on Saturday. Brighton meanwhile
00:31weren't in action this week but there's still plenty of Albion talking points to discuss.
00:35This week we'll look back at the Reds win at the Sulphurites, preview this week's home
00:39doubleheader for Crawley and bring you all the latest from the Seagulls. You can read
00:43all the stories we are talking about with videos and pictures online at sussexworld.co.uk
00:48And we will start as ever at Brighton Hove Albion and with the Seagulls not in action this week
00:54due to the international break we thought it would be the perfect time to look at how Albion
00:57have performed in the Premier League so far. Brighton sit 11th in the Premier League with
01:01a record of 1-1, drawn one, lost one and have also advanced the third round of the Carabao Cup.
01:07I know it's very, very, very early days Darren but how would you assess Albion's season so far?
01:13It's, as the record's shown there, it's been very up and down isn't it?
01:16Yeah, it has been up and down in terms of results. Performances haven't been too bad actually.
01:23They should have won against Fulham. It was a late, late equaliser for Fulham which cost
01:28them two points and yeah, that sort of dipped morale a bit really because there was a lot
01:34of enthusiasm going into the season and then a few people looked at that and thought,
01:39oh, the same old problems are reoccurring again, late minute, you know, last minute equalisers
01:46and dropping points but the performance that day was good and then at Everton that was always
01:52going to be a tricky one at the Hill-Dickinson Stadium, brand new stadium, first ever game
01:57there but again, Brighton should have been 2-0 up really before Everton scored so again,
02:04there was a strong argument there that they could have got something from the game and then
02:10they were 1-0 down against Manchester City and you thought, oh, this is looking really bleak
02:15going into the international break. It was City were playing well, Brighton needed to,
02:20you know, a big performance in that second half and they delivered. It was one of the
02:24best displays I've seen in the second half in terms of how they, you know, how they just
02:29transformed the game against a City team that were playing quite well and then, you know,
02:35for Brian Gruder to get that last gasp winner as well, that sent everybody away in quite
02:40good spirits on the international break. So, I think getting that win is a huge boost but
02:47now they need to follow that up in this next tranche of games after the international break.
02:53Sam, what have been the main plus points from an Albion point of view so far? Who has stood
02:58out for the Seagulls in their opening three or four games? And conversely, have there been
03:02any negatives? Are there any deficiency that you think still need to be addressed that haven't
03:06been? Yeah, no, it's been a decent start, isn't it? I think it was probably saved a lot
03:11by that win against Man City. That's obviously lifted spirits a lot in the team. Obviously,
03:19I know there's been some goal scoring issues. Obviously, we saw them have so many chances
03:23against Everton and they definitely should have scored at least one on that day. But they
03:29were definitely clinical in the following match against Man City and it was great to see
03:34Ray and Gruda chose this brilliant composure to score. And even James Milner was on the
03:39score sheet as well. And I think that will be crucial this season, just having players
03:42like that chip in. Players you might not expect to be scoring 10 plus goals this season, but
03:47just to get the odd few to really chip in. And obviously, as time goes on, I'm sure we're
03:52going to see more goals from the forward players like Matoma, Gomez, Minta. Obviously, we've
03:57seen Zimas involved as well in the cup and got a couple of goals and he looks like he's
04:03going to be a quality player when he finally starts in the Premier League. And we know what
04:08to expect from Danny Welbeck too. And hopefully, he can continue what was a brilliant season
04:13last year. Jorginho of Rutter, we know, is an eye for goal. So, I'm not kind of concerned
04:17in that sense for Brighton in terms of goalscoring. And I think they have really done a good job
04:22at satisfying the back line. That's definitely been a plus so far this season. And I've been
04:27really impressed by Maxime de Kuyper, who's obviously come in as a Pervis Estepinian's
04:32replacement. And it'll be interesting to see how his partnership with Matoma continued as
04:37the season progresses. But yeah, I think the early signs are positive. Obviously, a draw,
04:43a loss and a win in three games. So, a decent start to build from. And I think that Man City
04:50win will definitely be something which will have lifted spirits. And it was just a shame
04:54that it was just for the international break. So, obviously, to then come back
04:57after that and try and find that momentum again.
05:01Yeah, absolutely. Well, a total of 23 Albion players were on international duty
05:05around the world with their countries during the break, with a majority of senior players
05:08participating in 2026 World Cup qualifying. We're not going to go through each and every
05:14of the 23 Bayern players there. And so, don't worry about that. But who stood out for their
05:18country during the break? And have any Seagulls booked their places at next year's World Cup
05:21in Canada, Mexico and the US? Yes. Well, there's a few that are already
05:26through. In terms of who impressed, again, Sam mentioned him earlier, Maxine de Kuyper.
05:32He played for Belgium. And there were rave reviews from the Belgian media about his display.
05:39Left-back has been a bit of a problem area for Belgium over the last few years. They've played
05:44the likes of the Tongan. And they've played midfielders out of position there. And they haven't
05:48really been able to find, you know, a quality left-back. And there were reports coming out
05:53to say, you know, that search is now over. Maxine de Kuyper is the man. And there were
05:59already a transfer link saying that, you know, Brighton is surely, you know, just a stepping
06:03stone club for him now. He'll be, you know, he'll be getting a big move. And that was literally
06:08two months to the day that he signed that, you know, these reports are coming out. But
06:13I don't think Brighton would be overly, overly fussed about that. They'll just be delighted
06:17how well he's, how well he's settled, settled in. And I'm sure he'll be in the team against
06:23Bournemouth this Saturday. Also, Karamatoma, Japan, they've, they've qualified. He's, he
06:29faces a long trip back. He was playing in America for Japan. They're friendlies against Mexico
06:36and, and also against the US as well. So his game finishes actually at 2.30 tonight. So
06:43he's got a dash, a long haul flight back, dash back to the, to the Vitality Stadium on
06:48Saturday. So here, I'm sure he'll be assessed. Diogo Gomez, likewise, he, he's been playing
06:53for Paraguay. So he's going to have a long haul trip back. Yankouba Minte, he was a slight
07:00concern. He hobbled off against Kenya in a World Cup qualifier in the first match.
07:04Um, the reports are that he's, he's okay. He was holding his groin as he, as he came
07:10off. And there were concerns that, you know, that he's going to be a doubt for Bournemouth.
07:15So we're going to have to keep an eye on that one and assess how he's going. Uh, Carlos
07:18Beliba, he played for Cameroon against Cape Verde in a World Cup qualifier. Um, he played
07:2490 minutes. So it's his first 90 minutes of the, of the season. He was suspended for the
07:28first, for Cameroon's first game with the international break. Uh, but he played a full 90
07:33minutes last night.
07:34Which is really encouraging. And apparently he came through unscathed as well. So, so
07:40that's a massive plus for, for Brighton. Uh, Cameroon still haven't qualified yet. Cape
07:45Verde, they topped that group and they, they qualified for the World Cup actually. Cape
07:49Verde. So, um, so yeah, it's, it's been a busy, like you say, it's players jetting off
07:54here, there and everywhere. Herzella must be just sort of, you know, praying that they all
07:57come back safe and safe and sound and fit and raring to go. Because like, like Sam said,
08:02they did so well against City, then that momentum completely switches. All the players go into
08:07international mode and they really just have to come back quickly and get back into the
08:11Premier League. Because Bournemouth are going to be tough. They're, you know, they've died
08:15really well.
08:15Yeah, absolutely. We'll come on to that game in a second. But, um, although the men weren't
08:20in action this week, Brighton's women's team took the field on Sunday for the first game
08:24of the 2025-26 Women's Super League campaign. Aston Billers were the visitors to the Broadfield
08:29Stadium for this one. How did the Seagulls get on on the opening day, Sam? And what are
08:33their aims and expectations for, for this season?
08:36Yeah, so it was a, it was a goalless, a goalless draw, um, uh, for, for this match. It picked
08:41up a point in peace, um, and England boss Serena Weakman, Weakman was in attendance actually,
08:46um, at the Broadfield Stadium. Um, she saw former England forward Rachel Daly go close
08:51and also Michelle Agyman, whose performances in the summer helped the Lionesses win the,
08:55uh, the Euros 2025 and she obviously won the Young Player of the Tournament as well. Um, she
09:00came close for Brighton, but her low strike took a deflection and hit the post. Um, Villa also
09:05hit the woodwork at the end, um, in a bit of a dramatic finish to the game, but, but
09:09neither team could find a winner. And I think it is probably a deserved point for both teams.
09:15I think, yeah, it was probably a fair result on the day. Um, and yeah, just looking at
09:19aspirations, they finished in a club record position of fifth, um, in the Women's Super
09:23League last season, one place above Villa. Um, and I think, yeah, probably both teams will
09:27be, both teams will be targeting at least a similar finish this campaign, particularly
09:31Brighton, um, and Dario Vidicic has made it clear that it was not a one-off
09:35to get, to get that club record. He wants to be the best of the best. We go out every
09:39game, the intention to play our football, to try to get the three points. We want to
09:42make a real history for the club and bring a trophy if possible as well. So yeah, there's
09:45definitely some big aspirations for, for, for Brighton, um, this season and not a bad,
09:51not a bad start, but it was good to have the England boss there to, to watch. And I think
09:55it was brilliant to get Michelle Adjimang, um, back to the club again this season after
09:59her performances for England. So some good signs absolutely for them.
10:03Yeah. Could not agree more. Um, and as we mentioned, Brighton are back in Premier League
10:07action this Saturday when they make the trip to Bournemouth. The Cherries sit seventh, having
10:12won two and lost one of their opening three games. Um, I think as we already said, Darren,
10:17this will be a very, very tough game for, for the Seagulls. Um, how do you see this one
10:20going? And, um, you've also kind of touched on it there, but what's the latest news, injury
10:24news, sorry, from the Albion camp?
10:25Yeah. Yeah. As, as we said, it's going to be a very tough game. They, Bournemouth, um, uh, they,
10:31they lost the opening game against, um, against Liverpool, but they played very well that game
10:36or, you know, almost caused, uh, caused a bit of an upset when they came back to 2-2. Um, and then
10:42they've, they've beaten Wolves, 10 man Wolves. And then also they then, uh, won away at Tottenham,
10:47which is a, which is a great result for Areola's team. And, you know, he's, he's, he had some,
10:52so well-drilled, they're a very well-organised team and they're very dangerous going, uh,
10:57going forward as well. And they're, they're a handful for, you know, any Premier League team,
11:01especially on their own, uh, patch as well, which is tiny, you know, quite a small stadium
11:05by Premier League standards. And it's, you know, it's all quite fast paced and intense. So, um,
11:12Brighton are really going to have to, you know, come back for the international break, ready for,
11:16ready for the challenge. They're going to have to be, you know, flying, running out of the traps.
11:21Yeah, Sam, it sounds like it'd be a tough game down at Bournemouth.
11:25Yeah, no, absolutely. Bournemouth are obviously, um, a really strong team, really well coached.
11:30And yeah, it's, it's not going to be an easy one for Brighton. I know they went there last season
11:34and got a really hard fought, hard fought win that was really impressive, um, in the circumstances.
11:40But obviously Semenyo is, is, is a real player to, to watch out for. He's been one of the stars of the,
11:46of the season so far. And they've got two wins from, from the opening three games. So,
11:50and they, they were so unlucky to lose against Liverpool on the, on opening day. So it's, um,
11:56yeah, definitely a match that Brighton will have to be really on their guard for. And I'm
12:00really impressed by Bournemouth after obviously losing to two such key defenders, um, obviously
12:04Hoistun and Kerkhez in the summer, um, to Real Madrid and Liverpool. You kind of thought that
12:10might affect them, but so far they've, they've dealt with that really well and they're, they're
12:13playing really well. So yeah, Liverpool will, so yeah, obviously Liverpool will be pleased to
12:17get that win on the open day against them, but they've really had to, to fight hard for that and
12:20it was a bit of a last gasp winner. So yeah, Brighton will be, will be really pleased to then
12:24get three points here. Um, we will now take a look at Crawley Town who finally have a year and two
12:29win. The Reds travelled to North Yorkshire having taken just two points for an opening six matches
12:33but got up and running courtesy of Rhys Brand's first half strike. So the long wait for a Crawley
12:38win is finally over Mark. Um, what did you make of that performance? And, um, there must be just a
12:42massive sense of relief that they finally got a game over the line, I suppose.
12:47Yeah, absolutely. Before the game, uh, Lindsay said that they were just desperate to get a win.
12:52Um, he said apart from the Grinsby game, which they obviously lost 3-0 on the opening day,
12:57they had been playing well, so it was sort of coming. Um, the, the, the, the only thing they
13:03hadn't done was actually win a game. So yeah, first half, by all accounts, they were absolutely
13:08brilliant. Uh, played Harrog off the park, uh, got the goal, um, really good strike from Rhys Brown.
13:15Um, his first goal for the club. Um, and yeah, no, really, really impressive. The second half,
13:22I think there was the element of, we just want to win the game now and sort of a little bit try and
13:26sharp shop, which doesn't always work for Crawley. I know Lindsay doesn't like it when they sit back
13:33and, uh, try and, uh, try and see a game out because their, their strength is attacking possession
13:40football. So, uh, but I mean, if you looked at the stats, it was one of the lowest, sort of,
13:46they had 51% possession Crawley, which is probably one of their lowest of the season so far. And I
13:53think that was mainly in the second half, probably where they, where that was sort of balanced out.
13:58I mean, Harrogate had more shots on goal, more shots on target, but yeah, just really good to
14:04get those three points. I think we said before at the end of last week's pod about how important
14:09it was to win that game going into the game against Cheltenham who also won their first game
14:14this weekend. So, um, that will give them loads of confidence. They'll be expected to win on Saturday
14:20and I can't see anything other than a Crawley win on Saturday. Touch wood. But you, I know you watched
14:24the game out. What did you think? Yeah, yeah, exactly that. I thought they were really good
14:29for 60, 70 minutes. And I think the fact that they knew that the win was in the kind of on the
14:33horizon, they retreated in within themselves. Um, we'll come on to it a little bit later on,
14:39but Ryan Loft's second yellow card, that was an odd one to say the least. But, um, yeah, no,
14:47um, after that first half display, the Reds were definitely good value for the win. Um, and I think
14:51they'll hopefully give them the confidence to, um, kick on and meet where we think they might have
14:56been this season in terms of our expectations. So, um, yeah, good win all round. Um, Scott
15:02Lindsay was, of course, delighted with Crawley's win at Harrogate and he preys on the Reds in his
15:06post-match interview. Um, what did Lindsay have to say at full time, Sam? Um, what were the main
15:11talking points from, um, from Lindsay's post-match pressure conference?
15:14Yeah, no, he was absolutely delighted. He said Crawley played some of the best football
15:18we've seen since becoming Reds' boss. Um, as you say, he obviously picked up the first
15:22win of the season and he was over the moon about that and thought his team looks like
15:26a proper team in the victory. Um, he said we were outstanding. Uh, he told Gary Smith
15:32from, um, BBC, we looked proper today, a proper team. That first half, we played some of the
15:37best football that I've seen since being a quality manager. I've got to be honest with you,
15:40even better than some of the football we played in the promotion winning season.
15:43I thought we were brilliant in that first half. Uh, he thought, yeah, as I say, he
15:48looked for it. They thought the team looked really assured, uh, dangerous on the counter
15:51attack and caused Harrogate lots of problems. Um, and yeah, I think that's, that's a positive
15:58thing. And you think they've kind of showed a real winning mentality throughout the squad
16:01and he's absolutely over the moon. So that does bode well, uh, not just to get the win,
16:05but also a good performance to build on as well. Uh, that does give, give fans some, some
16:10hope for, for the rest of the season and hopefully they can, they can keep this going.
16:14And it's important that they don't rest on the laurels and they, they build on this and
16:17get a few wins together to, to ease any concerns of any relegation fears this season.
16:23Yeah, absolutely. I would say that the only disappointment I think from a Crawley point
16:26of view would be that everyone else around them won, which is a bit frustrating. Uh, yes.
16:32Um, but we'll come on to that in a minute. Um, Cambridge lonely Ryan Loft made his Reds debut
16:36at Harrogate, as we mentioned, and he had, um, a bit of an interesting first game,
16:39to say the least. Um, how did he get on Mark? And, um, what did Lindsay have to say about his
16:44performance? Yeah, he, um, yeah, we, it was funny, wasn't it? Cause last week I said,
16:49cause Lindsay, when I interviewed him before the Harrogate game, I asked him about Ryan Loft and
16:55he did seem sort of surprised how good he was in training and stuff. And I think I said, I said,
17:01it wouldn't surprise me if he did start at the weekend, the way Lindsay was talking about him.
17:05And he did. And, uh, yeah, by all accounts, he played very, very well. Um, he told, he, um,
17:11said after the game, uh, this is Lindsay on Loft. He was brilliant, wasn't he? Absolutely brilliant.
17:16Strong, powerful, quick. He worked his absolute socks off, linked the play well, outstanding.
17:20So I was really pleased, but obviously the sort of, uh, blot on the copy book was the, um,
17:25sending off. He, uh, he got booked early, uh, early-ish. And then, yeah, right at the end,
17:30he got booked sort of quite innocuously for, um, backing in, I believe it was. Um, and, uh,
17:37yeah, Lindsay was not happy, as you can imagine, as he hasn't been with a lot of
17:42refereeing decisions this year. And he said, he just didn't, he didn't understand the red card.
17:46I don't understand it. And he, um, was going to go and speak to the referee to try and get
17:51reason so he could sort of fully understand why he was sent off. But it'd be a bit of a blow after
17:56such an impressive debut. He is suspended now. So I'm, I'm due to be speaking to Scott tomorrow.
18:02So I'll try and find out if they've repealed it, what the outcome of that is, whether he will be
18:07missing any games. Um, but yeah, no, a really encouraging start. I mean, like we said last
18:13week as well, um, didn't have the best reviews from fans of previous clubs of his, but everyone,
18:19everyone, what all the comments I've seen about his performance Saturday is really encouraging.
18:23So if he can add goals to that, then, um, he's got, he is going to be a nuisance for
18:27League Two defenders this year, I think. Yeah, couldn't put it better. He looks a real hand
18:31forward. It's just a shame that, yeah, it wasn't a sending off in my opinion, but, um, yeah,
18:36there you go. You'll live and learn from that, won't you? Um, this Saturday sees Crawley
18:40entering Cheltenham in their first of two home games this week. The Robins sit second from bottom in
18:45League Two, three places behind Crawley, having taken just four points from their first seven games.
18:49Like the Reds, Cheltenham picked up their first win of the season last weekend, beating bottom
18:54club Atkinson 1-0 at home. Um, it's probably a little bit too early to call this a six-pointer, Sam,
18:59but a win is surely it's a must for Crawley, especially after their result at Arrogate.
19:04Yeah, yeah, it definitely is. Cheltenham are really not having a good time of it, um,
19:08this season, and even their, their win was less convincing than Crawley's was. It sounds like it was, um,
19:14a bit of a moment of magic that won the game just in the second minute. It was actually a former
19:18Crawley player in Isaac Hutchinson that stepped up to, to cut a free kick, um, to, to obviously
19:24score the winner in the second minute of the game, as I say. So they obviously showed some
19:27diversity to hold on to that and, and to kill their first three points of the season. Uh,
19:33he's actually from Eastbourne as well, Hutchinson, so there's another Sussex link there. Um, but yeah,
19:37it's, it's definitely a must win game for Crawley. As we mentioned earlier, they need to build on the,
19:42the first three points that they, they got against Harrogate, um, and against Cheltenham,
19:47who are in a poor run of form, it would be quite, yeah, quite poor for Crawley to, to lose this game
19:52or to, or to not even, to draw it, I think, as well. I think they need to be going there to,
19:55to win, um, and obviously build on that momentum that they're a bit tough against Harrogate,
20:00and I'm confident they'll do that. Yeah, we can only hope so. Uh, Tuesday sees the Reds entertain
20:06Aston Villa under-21s in their first game of the world-renowned and prestigious Virtu Trophy.
20:11Crawley will also meet Leighton Orient and Piedsburgh in the group stages. Um, and as an aside,
20:15I didn't realise that Claudie Lollos was at Piedsburgh now after leaving, um, Bolton,
20:19so that adds another, um, extra layer of advice.
20:21I must admit, I missed that as well. Yeah. Yeah, no, it'd be, uh, good to see him back. Uh,
20:25probably won't be a game that sets fans' pulses racing, but Scott Lindsay, Mark, will no doubt be
20:29wanting to see a good Reds performance. Um, how do you see this one going, first and foremost? Um,
20:34secondly, do you think we'll see lots of changes? And, um, thirdly, how much of a priority is the
20:40Virtu Trophy for the Reds? People only, in my view, only seem to take this competition seriously when
20:44it gets to about the semi-final stages. Um, everything before that's a bit of an afterthought,
20:49isn't it? It is, but we saw what happened when, well, last time Lindsay was in charge for a full
20:56season. He took this competition, although he did make lots of changes, he took it seriously. And, um,
21:02they got to the quarterfinals before losing to eventual winners Peterborough, who have now won
21:06it two years on the trial, I think, haven't they? They've been Birmingham in the final last year.
21:10Um, so I think, I think there will be definitely changes. I think it's a good chance to use the
21:17squad, um, maybe a different keeper, give someone like Will Heater a little chance in goal just to
21:24give them a go, a run out, especially against Aston Villa as well, because is there under 21s or
21:30under 23s? Is it under 21s or under 23s? I think it's under 21s. Either way, it's a
21:34very restricted team. Yeah. Yeah. Um, and I think it's a good chance to try out the younger players
21:42or the squad players who haven't got full minutes yet or someone coming back from injury. Uh, that's
21:48what he did last time, Lindsay. And I mean, it was the making of Joy McKenna. He came in from
21:53St Albans that summer, didn't really play in any league matches. Um, Darren's back, everyone.
22:00Darren's back. Oh, oh no, he did not put his camera on. There he is. You were almost there
22:06for score predictions, Darren. You're back for that. That's what I was trying to get back in time for
22:10the, uh, I know the real reason you came back was the, uh, EFL trophy and Crawley versus Aston Villa
22:17under 21, which is more interesting than my gas meter. So yeah. So yeah. Joy McKenna,
22:25I mean, Adi Adi Yemo as well. They all sort of played big minutes in this competition in that
22:32season and it was the making of them. So, uh, hopefully it can be the same again and we'll
22:37start seeing maybe Louis Flower get a start who really good during preseason scored goals. Jude
22:43Robinson, uh, the young 17 year old, maybe he'll get a given a run out. It'll be really interesting
22:49to see what side Lindsay goes with. But I think Lindsay will use this again like that,
22:53but he will want, as he always does, he wants to win games and it's quite a nice opener for them
22:59against Aston Villa. I mean, the last, they played them twice in the last four years
23:04in this competition and, um, they, in 2022, they beat them 5-2. Here's some names for you.
23:10Yeah. Aramida Ote scored two, Dom Talford, Jaden Davis and Mark Marshall. I mean, these are,
23:16yeah, I think he was, he was almost a veteran, wasn't he? I think he was like a 34 year old
23:21that came in. And then in 2023, a year later, they beat them 3-2 with Jack Rolls getting a double
23:27and Kamari Swire. Everybody remember him? Kamari Swire? No. He was on loan from West Ham,
23:32I think he was, wasn't he? Oh, right. Yeah. So, um, uh, yeah. So, they've got a good record
23:40again. And these academy sides, I mean, they're, they, they play lovely football. They're technically
23:47really good footballers. They're coming up against the Scott Lindsay League 2 side. I think
23:51Scott will want to go out and show, sort of make a mark on this competition, especially with two
23:56really tough games coming up after that, like Leighton Oren and Peterborough. But again,
24:01you don't know how seriously they will be taking it. So, they might be using younger players and
24:06that. So, it's a good opportunity for Crawley to get another win. If they can win on Saturday,
24:11which I expect them to, beat Aston Villa. That's four games upbeat and three wins on the trot.
24:17And then it sort of sets you up, doesn't it, for a really good run. And, uh, see, I think it was
24:21Scott Malone after Saturday's game said, we've got to go on runs now. It's not just about winning
24:26two games on the trot. It's about winning, going five, six, seven unbeaten.
24:30So, this can be part of that run. So, I think it's going to be a really interesting evening
24:36and I expect Crawley to win that as well.
24:38Well, if Scott Malone plays, they're guaranteed to win, aren't they? I think I read some of it.
24:41Oh, absolutely, yeah. Yeah, he's won, yeah, he's won four in four so far,
24:45playing for Crawley. So, um, or four unbeaten. I can't remember exactly what the thing is, but yeah,
24:50he said, he said, he's certainly unbeaten as a Crawley Town player. So, just put Scott Malone
24:54in the side. They'll be fine. Foregone conclusion, fix and stuff. And, um, I think it'd be remiss
24:59of us to go, if we, uh, didn't ask Derren, how is the guest meter? I'm sure the, uh, the listeners
25:03and viewers would be keen to know how everything is. Well, yeah, it's, the, the guest man scratched
25:10his head, swore a little bit and said, this is, this is going to be a nightmare. Um, and then I've left
25:16him down there and then hopefully I'll have a working meter at the end of it. Oh, fingers
25:24crossed. We'll have to make sure to ask you about that next week. If you really want the details,
25:28it's at the basement of the building and it's got water damage through, through there. Oh, no,
25:34I've done it. Oh dear. Yeah, all good fun. Yeah, all good fun. Yeah, absolutely. Um,
25:42I think viewers can anticipate a daily guest meter watch from Derren Howe with
25:46now. Howard's weekly watch is gas me eggs and stuff. Um, moving very swiftly on, um, as
25:53ever, score predictions. Um, and I think we'll start with Crawley this week, Mark. Um, we'll
25:57start with Crawley v Cheltenham in league two in that big, well, semi six pointer. I don't
26:02know how that works, but yeah, a game that Crawley needs to win basically. Um, how'd you
26:06see that one going? Oh, I can't see anything other than a Crawley win after that, after the
26:10performance and result last week. So I'm going to go, I'm going to go free one. I'm
26:15going to go, I think Isaac Hutton's in the score again, but Crawley will be dominant and
26:19win quite comfortably. Sam, how'd you see this one going? I'm going to go for a bit more
26:25nervy, but I'm going to go for a two, one win to, to Crawley. Derren, what do you reckon?
26:32Yeah, I think there's reason for, uh, reason for encouragement. I think we're from, so I'll go
26:36two nil, two nil for Crawley. Nice. And then we've got the big one on Tuesday,
26:41Crawley v Villa under 21's mark. Um, it really could be anything, I think, uh, quite hard to
26:47predict, I think. 4-3 Crawley, it's going to be an absolute thriller. Louis Flower,
26:51Hattrick. Sam, what do you reckon? Yeah, I'll go for a thriller as well. 3-2, 3-2 Crawley.
27:00Blimey, Derren, is it going to be a thriller minute at the Broadfield?
27:02Yeah, I think that there's, there's going to be goals, but I think Crawley will, uh, again,
27:06I think they'll, they'll get another win. I'll go 3-1, 3-1 for Crawley.
27:11Excellent stuff. And as I tipped Harrogate to beat Crawley 7-0 last week with extra results,
27:15I'm going for an 8-0 Cheltenham win on Saturday and a 9-0 Villewin on Tuesday. So, uh, there you go.
27:20And, uh, finally, uh, Bournemouth v Brighton in the Premier League. It's another one,
27:24I think, where you could toss a coin, Derren. I really can't call this one.
27:27No, no, it's a 50-50 and then you throw in the unpredictability of the, you know,
27:31coming back after international breaks. So, 2-2. I'm going to go for a 2-2. I think, uh, that one,
27:37I think there'll be goals. Um, but it's going to be a, yeah, it's going to be a tough, tough game for Brighton, that one.
27:43Yeah. Couldn't agree more with that, Sam, if I'm honest.
27:46Yeah. No, really, it really could go either way. Either team could win it.
27:49And I think they'll probably have to settle for a 1-1 draw.
27:53Mark, are we going for a full house of draws? Or are we seeing, or he sees a winner? Who's he tipping?
27:57I think Bournemouth, I think Ariel is such a good manager.
28:01I think, um, I'm going to go, especially with their result they got at Tottenham,
28:04I think I'm going to go for a 2-1. It'll be tight, um, and it'll be exciting,
28:08but I'm going for a 2-1 win for Bournemouth.
28:10Yeah, they completely played Tottenham off the part, didn't they?
28:12Yeah, that's one. Yeah, that's a very average.
28:17Hmm, absolutely. It's going to be a tough game, no doubt. Well, um, best of the likes of Kroian.
28:20No, we all wish Brian were playing 9-4 this weekend, though. It would have been a guaranteed 3-1 win.
28:27Yeah, well, I didn't realise that they've got Arsenal, and Arsenal are going to give them an absolute shooing.
28:30Oh, it's going to be awful. Goikarez will have a heyday, I reckon, on there.
28:35Yeah, yes. As a tangent, I think that now, for me,
28:39he puts Forrest as one of the favourites to go down. I don't know if people agree with that necessarily.
28:44It's maybe being a bit too reactive. I think so.
28:47I think they'll be all right. I think they'll be all right. I think they've got enough quality players in the team.
28:51Yes, well, I think it's too much quality for them to go down.
28:55Yeah, and I think there are probably three worse teams than them.
28:58But the and part of it does put them a little bit more at risk, I definitely agree.
29:06But probably win the Europa League now, so they'll go down.
29:10Yeah, that's the thing.
29:12I remember being at Forrest last year, they tonked Brighton 7.
29:17That's right.
29:18Oh, yes.
29:19It's just amazing, the fortunes, how things change, isn't it?
29:21They were just riding the crest of a wave. The whole fan base were behind the club.
29:25They just looked like a club moving in totally the right direction.
29:29Everything was going well, and it's just amazing how it can all change so quickly,
29:32even though they qualified for Europe.
29:34Yeah, absolutely. We're bringing it back round to Brighton.
29:36I think it just goes to show what having a sensible, level-headed owner can do for a football club,
29:41as opposed to having a mad man like the owner of Forrest.
29:46But yeah, no, interesting stuff. Brilliant.
29:48Thank you very much for joining us this week, chaps. And yeah, best of luck to the guest man,
29:53Darren. Fingers crossed he survives the ordeal.
