00:00:00The top story that we are following here on India today coming in from the United States of America.
00:00:05Donald Trump is now saying that the trade talks between India and the United States of America are currently underway.
00:00:10Donald Trump in a statement said trade talks with India are still on, will speak to good friend Prime Minister Modi in the next few weeks.
00:00:18There won't be difficulty between India and the United States of America.
00:00:21Now over the past few days we have seen a climb down of sorts.
00:00:25We have seen statements coming in, statements made by the US President.
00:00:28And Donald Trump time and again praising the relationship that India has with the United States of America
00:00:34and also saying that he has a personal rapport, a good personal rapport with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
00:00:40This is the latest which is coming in from the United States of America.
00:00:44In fact back channel talks are on, India-US trade talks underway at the moment.
00:00:50Trade talks with India are still on, will speak to good friend Modi in the next few weeks.
00:00:54There will not be any difficulty between India and the United States of America.
00:01:00So this is the latest statement which is coming in.
00:01:03After a massive tug of war with regards to trade, India at the moment is at the receiving end of the tariffs.
00:01:08My colleague Rohit Sharma joining me now from Washington DC.
00:01:15Rohit, there will not be any difficulty between India and the United States of America.
00:01:19This is the latest statement coming in.
00:01:22It's very interesting Rohit because you know we have seen over the past few days there's a change of stance,
00:01:26a climbing down of sorts that has happened from the United States of America's side.
00:01:31And that too welcomes changes, right?
00:01:34I think, you know, after doubling down multiple times in the past three and a half weeks or so,
00:01:40President Trump has softened his tone and he, in this new social that he put out a couple of hours ago,
00:01:48is clearly indicating that there are talks that are continuing between both the nations
00:01:53and he is going to be speaking with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming weeks.
00:01:57And also the fact that he feels very happy and certain that there could be a trade deal coming in.
00:02:04And look, this has come up exactly three days after when he said, you know,
00:02:08India was going to the dark side in a way and essentially, you know, towards China.
00:02:13So I think things have changed.
00:02:15President Trump is kind of indicating that the both sides have engaged
00:02:20and have continued to engage in the past few months or so.
00:02:25And he's very hopeful that the trade deal could happen pretty soon.
00:02:28But the important thing is, and which I've been saying all along,
00:02:31is he's always said he's great friends with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
00:02:34And this is where I think things are a little different,
00:02:37where he still trusts the Prime Minister to be able to get this deal done.
00:02:43Right. Thank you, Rohit.
00:02:44Rohit Sharma joining us from Washington, D.C.
00:02:46Also, you know, as Rohit was pointing out,
00:02:49at the moment it seems like there is a little bit of a faith
00:02:51coming in from the United States of America
00:02:53that there is a possibility of the trade deal happening.
00:02:56In fact, on the Indian side, they are looking at the BTA,
00:02:58which is the bilateral trade agreement, to be signed by November this year.
00:03:10News coming in from the Russian side now,
00:03:12Russian drones reportedly have entered Poland's airspace.
00:03:15Reports are suggesting Russian drones have entered Poland's airspace.
00:03:19Poland activates the defense systems amid Russian drone incursion.
00:03:23Reports also point towards the fact that several Russian drones
00:03:26have been shot down in Poland's airspace.
00:03:29U.S. F-35 fighter jets, they are in Poland's airspace amid the Russian drone intrusion.
00:03:34Poland's Warsaw International Airport has been shut because of unplanned military activity.
00:03:42This is new development which is coming in between Poland and Russia.
00:03:46Reports are now suggesting several Russian drones have been shot down in Poland's airspace.
00:03:50U.S. F-35 fighter jets, they are now in Poland's airspace amid Russian drone intrusion.
00:03:58Poland's Warsaw, the international airport, now is closed because of unplanned military activity.
00:04:04My colleague Shivani Sharma is now joining me on the story.
00:04:07Shivani, this is big development coming in now.
00:04:10We are seeing, and this is what reports at the moment are pointing towards,
00:04:13Poland has activated its defense systems amid the Russian drone incursion.
00:04:18Aishwarya, the reports that are there, they are suggesting that Poland and Neto,
00:04:25they have activated their jets, they have scrambled their jets,
00:04:28and the Warsaw airport has been shut after the Ukrainian reports of Russian drones over Poland.
00:04:34So this is how the airspace has now been closed,
00:04:38and the authorities have totally shucked the air activity above the Warsaw International Airport,
00:04:43and they have also activated their military operations.
00:04:46They have activated their air assets.
00:04:48Even the F-35 are being reportedly flying on the skies of Poland.
00:04:53So this is a precautionary measure it suggests that they have taken,
00:04:57because there were reports of Russia activating its attack towards Ukraine.
00:05:03So now what we are learning is that Warsaw airspace has been closed,
00:05:07and the NATO forces and Polish forces, the air jets,
00:05:12they have been activated above the Poland skies.
00:05:16Right, thank you Shivani, giving us all those details.
00:05:18Reports are now pointing towards the fact that there are several Russian drones
00:05:21that have been shot down in Poland's airspace.
00:05:23The US F-35 fighter jets, they are also in Poland's airspace.
00:05:28All this after Russian drone intrusion took place.
00:05:31The Warsaw International Airport has now been shut down
00:05:33because of unplanned military activity.
00:06:03Latest news which is coming in from neighbouring Nepal now.
00:06:07Army has now started patrolling the streets of Nepal overnight.
00:06:10Crackdown on late-night riders in Nepal.
00:06:14On the initiative of the Nepali army,
00:06:16the army chief met with the Gen Z representatives at midnight.
00:06:20The army chief called Gen Z representatives to know what they are demanding at the moment.
00:06:25Reparations are being made to hold talks between President and Gen Z representatives.
00:06:29Now, this mediation will be done by the Nepali army.
00:06:33Images that you are seeing on your screens are of the patrolling that was done by the Nepali army.
00:06:38The initiative was in fact taken by the Nepali army chief.
00:06:41The army chief met with the representatives of the youth
00:06:44who are out on the streets in large numbers,
00:06:47have burned down the parliament and have burned down the palace.
00:06:50The army chief has now said that they want to have a conversation
00:06:59with the representatives of Generation Z.
00:07:02They want to know what the demands are.
00:07:04Reparations are being made to hold talks between President and the army general.
00:07:10Now, this is something which will be done.
00:07:11The army chief is now all set to step in and to mediate this conversation.
00:07:15Yesterday, late last night, at around midnight,
00:07:20there was a conversation that happened between the army chief and the representatives of all those protesters
00:07:26who are out on the streets.
00:07:28The last 48 hours have been very difficult for Nepal.
00:07:32Images that you are seeing on your screens.
00:07:34The parliament building has been burned down.
00:07:36The palace, the Nepalese palace, has also been burned down.
00:07:39My colleague, Pankaj Das, is now joining me from Nepal.
00:07:52Pankaj, which we have now understood is that the army has stepped in and the army wants to have mediation.
00:07:58The people who want to talk about it, the protesters, the representatives of the army chief.
00:08:04The people who are shooting to know their soldiers, the representatives of the army,
00:08:06and the people who are watching, are waiting for their deportation,
00:08:08and even wanting to watch the local army.
00:08:10The government is still doing a great job of being very active,
00:08:12So we have to go anyway and help us with this.
00:08:14The army is on the right.
00:08:17And the man who is in Los Angeles is where the army has been deployed.
00:08:18That is a right.
00:08:19Even in the United States, the army has been deployed to the army.
00:08:22There is a lot of people who are living at home for home.
00:08:26The guys have been released during this war.
00:08:27Thank you very much.
00:08:57Thank you very much.
00:09:27Thank you very much.
00:09:57Thank you very much.
00:09:59Thank you very much.
00:10:01Thank you very much.
00:10:07Thank you very much.
00:11:39The crores of property has been destroyed.
00:11:42Not only personally, even the president's parental house has been burned, I am told.
00:11:48prime minister's house has been burned i understand there was some attack on devba's house also
00:11:56all kind of things are there which is being very violent so i think the immediate future
00:12:01uh the only option i see is that election schedule must be announced
00:12:07as soon as the interim arrangement is put in place

00:13:10News that's coming in from the United States of America now, it's Donald Trump and his
00:13:36double speak on tariffs. Donald Trump has now given out a statement to the British Daily,
00:13:42the Financial Times, and he said he tells the European Union to hit China and India with a
00:13:48100% tariff to pressure Vladimir Putin. Donald Trump has asked the European Union to impose
00:13:53tariffs up to 100% both on India and China as a part of the joint effort to increase pressure on
00:13:59Russia to end the war in Ukraine. This is Donald Trump's double speak. The president made the
00:14:05extraordinary demand after dialing into a meeting. Now, this meeting took place between
00:14:10senior United States of America and European Union officials. They were gathered in Washington to
00:14:15discuss ways to heighten the economic cost of war for Moscow. This is a big statement which is coming
00:14:21in from the president of the United States of America. He is now asking the European Union to
00:14:26start imposing tariffs up to 100% on India and China. News President Donald Trump said that this
00:14:33is a part of the joint effort to increase pressure on Russia to end the war in Ukraine.
00:14:38In fact, even as we speak at the moment, there is a very important conversation taking place in the
00:14:43United States of America in Washington DC. The president made the extraordinary demand dialing
00:14:48into a meeting. The meeting was between senior United States and European Union officials. Officials
00:14:55have gathered in Washington DC to discuss ways to heighten the economic cost of the war for Moscow.
00:15:01Foreign Affairs editor Geetha Mohan joining me on the story now. Geetha, this is double speak. On one
00:15:08side, we just saw a statement coming in from the US President Donald Trump speaking about a possible
00:15:13trade deal between India and the United States of America. On the other side, he is nudging the
00:15:18European Union to impose a 100% tariff both on India and on China.
00:15:23Well, absolutely. This is double speak. The look at the social media post where he is calling Prime
00:15:32Minister Modi, his very good friend Prime Minister Modi and the fact that they will be meeting soon in the
00:15:38coming weeks and that India and the United States of America are in talks. And on the other hand,
00:15:44he continues to find ways to pressure President Putin or to pressure Russia. And on that, the plan
00:15:52to hit China and India with 100% tariffs. This certainly is double speak and hypocrisy of the United
00:16:00States of America. It's okay for the US to engage China and we'll trade talks with China. It's also
00:16:07okay for Trump to meet Putin in Alaska. But it's not okay for India to engage the very same country. So
00:16:15absolutely double speak. But then again, India will have to raise the options. A 50% tariff is huge for
00:16:22India. And we have to look at how best to get that reduced and to ensure that there's a working
00:16:28relationship between India and the United States of America. There is an absolute lack of trust.
00:16:34And as much as Donald Trump would want Prime Minister Modi to come on the phone and have word with him,
00:16:40nobody trusts President Trump right now in putting everything out there and running with the false
00:16:47narrative. And therefore, they will first ensure that there is something that the two countries have
00:16:52decided on for the leaders are either to meet or to talk on the phone.
00:16:59Right. Thank you, Keita Mohan, Foreign Affairs Editor, also now pointing out that it is very,
00:17:03very difficult for India to trust what Donald Trump has been saying. The United States President
00:17:08is looking at having a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But that is something which
00:17:14India at the moment is not very keen at doing. This is double speak. On one side,
00:17:19US President Donald Trump in a post has said that he has good relationships with the
00:17:24Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Narendra Modi is his good friend. But on the other side,
00:17:28he's nudging the European Union to levy up to 100% tariff both on India and on China.
00:17:34In Washington DC, there is a meeting going on between senior US administration
00:17:39and senior members of the European Union. Both of them are looking at increasing the cost
00:17:44on Russia with regards to the war that is happening between Ukraine and Russia.
00:17:56Now, it's Israel that has taken its war against Hamas beyond Gaza now into the Gulf.
00:18:01The IDF launched a precision strike right in the heart of Doha, targeting Hamas leadership.
00:18:07Sources say, key Hamas negotiators, including Khalil al-Haya, have survived the attack.
00:18:12Several explosions could be heard in Qatar's capital, Doha, as the IDF has now struck,
00:18:17targeted Hamas leadership in Qatar. They are considering a US proposal that
00:18:21there should be a ceasefire with regards to the Gaza Strip. Israel's Prime Minister
00:18:25Benjamin Netanyahu personally monitored the operation from the Situation Room.
00:18:30There was a statement that came out. Netanyahu said that this is action against Hamas terrorists.
00:18:35He insisted that this was wholly independent of the Israeli strike, initiated, executed and owned
00:18:41by Israel. Hamas says Israel failed to assassinate the negotiation team, which was sitting in Doha,
00:18:47but confirmed five of the members were killed, including son of the exiled Gaza chief al-Haya.
00:18:53Hamas is now insisting that the attack will not change the ceasefire demands and that is something
00:18:58that it has held US jointly responsible for. In fact, India's Ministry of External Affairs has expressed
00:19:04deep concern. These strikes, the warnings, they are now serious implications. The regional security
00:19:11is at the moment under threat. The MEA is now saying that they should be restrained
00:19:15and diplomacy should be given a chance.
00:19:19At noon today, I convened the heads of Israel's security organizations and authorized a surgical
00:19:26precision strike on the terrorist chiefs of Hamas. These are the same terrorists who planned, terrorist
00:19:33chiefs who planned, launched and celebrated the horrific massacres of October 7th. This day,
00:19:41as in previous days, Israel acted wholly independently, wholly independently, and we take full responsibility
00:19:49for this action. And this action can open the door to an end of the war,
00:19:56end of the war in Gaza. Israel has accepted the principles, the proposal put forward by President
00:20:02Trump to end the war, beginning with the immediate release of all our hostages,
00:20:07which have been held in the dungeons of Gaza for 700 days. If President Trump's proposal
00:20:14is accepted, the war can end immediately.
00:20:17This morning, the Trump administration was notified by the United States military that
00:20:22Israel was attacking Hamas, which very unfortunately was located in a section of Doha, the capital of
00:20:29Qatar. Unilaterally bombing inside Qatar, a sovereign nation and close ally of the United States that is
00:20:36working very hard and bravely taking risks with us to broker peace does not advance Israel or America's
00:20:42goals. However, eliminating Hamas, who have profited off the misery of those living in Gaza,
00:20:48is a worthy goal. President Trump immediately directed Special Envoy Whitcoff to inform the Qataris
00:20:55of the impending attack, which he did. The president views Qatar as a strong ally and friend of the United
00:21:01States and feels very badly about the location of this attack. President Trump wants all of the
00:21:08hostages in Gaza and the bodies of the dead released in this war to end now. President Trump also spoke to
00:21:16Prime Minister Netanyahu after the attack. The prime minister told President Trump that he wants to make
00:21:22peace and quickly. President Trump believes this unfortunate incident could serve as an opportunity
00:21:28for peace. The president also spoke to the Amir and Prime Minister of Qatar and thanked them for their
00:21:34support and friendship to our country. He assured them that such a thing will not happen again on their soil.
00:21:40I am. I am. I am. I am. I feel.
00:21:45I am. I am. I am. I am. I am. He is in my room with a brave man.
00:21:47I am. The president of this officer, Benyami Netanyahu,
00:21:50is a kind of no-tang with me, has been arrested for control in my life and my time.
00:21:53He has got to be heard of my plush.
00:21:54He has been arrested for a lot of men and his family who has vanished from my daughter.
00:21:55He has been arrested for revenge. The great woman who has determined for their daughter's comeback.
00:21:58When she even has a yellow ripstop, she has been arrested for pleasure,
00:22:01she has been arrested for all of us. Why does not have stopped in her living in our life?
00:22:03Why is daughter's that 빠' way? Why does she want to be with many people – why does not have a democrose,
00:22:05We are just learning about Israeli attacks in Qatar, a country that has
00:22:35been playing a very positive role to achieve a ceasefire and release of all hostages.
00:22:41I condemn this fragrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar.
00:22:48All parties must work towards achieving a permanent ceasefire, not destroying it.
00:22:54Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accepted Donald Trump's offer on the trade talks.
00:22:58Donald Trump has offered that in the next few weeks the conversation around trade will
00:23:03happen between India and the United States of America.
00:23:06This is something that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has now accepted.
00:23:09Good friends, Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will they have a trade talk
00:23:13very soon?
00:23:14That's something which everyone is very keenly looking at.
00:23:17It is Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has now responded to what the US President Donald
00:23:22Trump has said.
00:23:23US President Donald Trump very clearly in a statement said, India and the United States,
00:23:28they have had good relationships and owing to that relationship, it seems like the trade
00:23:33talks will resume in just a couple of weeks from now.
00:23:36My colleague Pranay Upadhyay is now joining me on the story.
00:23:45Pranay, this is good development which is coming in.
00:23:47If we speak about India, we are already looking at November.
00:23:50That's what the Commerce Ministry is hoping for.
00:23:53And we also understand that Jason Miller has been in the United States, has been having
00:23:58a conversation with the US President Donald Trump.
00:24:01So this is also something that India is very keenly looking at.
00:24:03Can you hear me, Pranay?
00:24:14Yeah, I can hear you.
00:24:15Can you repeat your question, please?
00:24:17Pranay, we are now seeing the softening of stance that is happening now.
00:24:22The first statement coming in from US President Donald Trump, he is saying that both India and
00:24:26the United States have had good relationships.
00:24:28A doubling down of sorts we are seeing.
00:24:31And now we are seeing the Indian Prime Minister, Nairam Modi, also responding to it in a professional
00:24:35manner.
00:24:36You know, we see India is not going overboard, but it seems like there is some headway, some
00:24:41middle path that India and the United States are now looking at.
00:24:44Oh, indeed, Aishwarya, if you see India's approach and the way India dealt this issue, this clearly
00:24:50indicates that, you know, how, whenever there is a problem in a relationship, what do you
00:24:56do?
00:24:57You try and minimize the differences and you try and maximize the consensus.
00:25:01And this is what India has been doing as far as the relationship is concerned.
00:25:05You see, of late, Prime Minister Nairam Modi has responded to the positive remarks made
00:25:09by US President Donald Trump.
00:25:11And this is for the first time US President Donald Trump has clearly mentioned that India
00:25:15and United States are very close to conclusion of a bilateral trade agreement.
00:25:20The barriers are being removed and they are being discussed by the either side in the last
00:25:25many months.
00:25:26The kind of statement made by US President in terms of India being termed as the highest
00:25:31tariff-putting country and how there are issues.
00:25:34issues.
00:25:35But if you see, in various remarks, you know, he mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi as
00:25:41his good friend, India as a partner country for the United States.
00:25:46And of late, if you see that there has been, you know, this widespread discussion and there
00:25:52have been many questions being raised from the Trump administration and as far as the India
00:25:57policy of the Trump administration, that why a partner country like India is being alienated
00:26:02the way India is being targeted in terms of the statement, in terms of the tariffs, India
00:26:08still exists in the highest tariff category, you know, announced by the US President Donald
00:26:14Trump, which is 50 percent.
00:26:16And that has its own impact.
00:26:19And the impact is currently being felt by the US economy because the tariffs are being paid
00:26:26by the US people and the US importers.
00:26:30So definitely, I think I see this as a rapprochement from the either side.
00:26:36Both the US also want and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also responded to the remarks made
00:26:42by US President Donald Trump of late.
00:26:44If you see, a few days ago, President Donald Trump said that I don't think so that we have
00:26:49lost India.
00:26:50And yes, there are some differences, but those differences will be solved and India will remain
00:26:57a key partner for the United States.
00:26:59And after that, now the statement made by US President Donald Trump in his Truth Social
00:27:04post, wherein he said that, you know, both India and the United States are engaging with
00:27:08each other.
00:27:08And he soon, he hoped, soon the conclusion of these bilateral trade talks, as well as
00:27:15he also expressed the hope that he will be talking to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to
00:27:20whom he referred as his good friend in coming weeks.
00:27:23And Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reciprocated and responded to the positive gesture made
00:27:30by US President Donald Trump.
00:27:31But what is happening here, Aishwarya?
00:27:33There has been a back-to-back-channel talks.
00:27:37Both sides were engaging with each other.
00:27:39And the differences are being minimized, that how both sides can move forward.
00:27:45Because here, we still have time.
00:27:49You know, the bilateral trade agreement deadline, which was set as fall of 2025.
00:27:54So like October, November, we still have a few weeks to conclude the bilateral trade negotiation.
00:28:00And what I've been given to understand, that almost 90, 95 percent of the trade things
00:28:06were solved when they got stuck, because India has certain red lines in terms of the
00:28:12agri-products, in terms of the dairy products, the fishery products.
00:28:15And there are certain things which India cannot give in.
00:28:18And as you know, that President Donald Trump is a hard negotiator, but he is a dealmaker.
00:28:23This is what he calls himself.
00:28:24So I think he is willing to make a deal with India.
00:28:30Right, you know, Pranay, willing to make a deal with India, that's something that we
00:28:32are very keenly looking at.
00:28:33You were also speaking about the fact that this is not the first time that we are seeing,
00:28:37you know, the Indian Prime Minister responding.
00:28:40In fact, since the 6th of September, we are seeing a change in the tone.
00:28:43Since last week, we are seeing positive statements coming in, both from the United States of America
00:28:48as well as from India.
00:28:49In fact, Prime Minister Modi responded.
00:28:51And this is something which is very important.
00:28:53The first statements, Pranay, are coming in from the US President.
00:28:56And now we are seeing Prime Minister Modi responding to it in a measured way.
00:29:00Because India is still very, very cautious because already we are bearing the brunt of
00:29:04the 50% tariffs that have been levied on India.
00:29:08Absolutely.
00:29:09If you see the policy of US President Donald Trump, there is an element of unpredictability
00:29:15in it.
00:29:16And he takes very frequent U-turns.
00:29:18So that's why India has reasons to be cautious about it.
00:29:20But yes, there are reasons to respond to the positive statement made by US President Donald
00:29:25Trump.
00:29:26Because as I mentioned that in a relationship, whenever you face a roadblock, whenever there
00:29:30is a rough patch, what do you do?
00:29:32You try and maximize the points of consensus and you try and minimize the points of differences.
00:29:36So here, this has been an approach by India.
00:29:39If you see, the Indian leadership did not respond to any of the negative remarks made by US President
00:29:45Donald Trump or the Trump administration senior officials.
00:29:50But whenever there has been a positive statement, be it 6 September onward, the statement made
00:29:57by US President Donald Trump in a press conference where he said that India is a partner, key
00:30:03partner for the United States.
00:30:05And he doesn't think that he has lost India.
00:30:07Though, you know, he said in a truth social post that I think we have lost India and Russia
00:30:13to the deepest, darkest China.
00:30:14This is what he said.
00:30:15But, you know, within a few hours, he made a turn.
00:30:20And thereafter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also responded to that statement, you know,
00:30:25made by US President Donald Trump, wherein he said that he completely agreed with the
00:30:29US President Donald Trump that India and the United States are key partners.
00:30:34And India values this relationship, this partnership, which is a strategic partnership
00:30:39between the two countries.
00:30:41And therefore, both countries are trying to resolve the issues.
00:30:44And today also, if you see, US President Donald Trump made a truth social post and Prime Minister
00:30:50Narendra Modi responded via truth social.
00:30:53But both leaders, for the first time, they both, you know, agreed and they expressed their
00:30:59willingness that they will be making a phone call.
00:31:01They will be talking to each other.
00:31:02And that phone call is going to set the tone for the future, future course of the relationship,
00:31:08how both countries are going to approach various issues.
00:31:11Look, India and United States are comprehensive global strategic partners.
00:31:16And they have this, you know, various aspects of this relationship.
00:31:20And not only in terms of the trade, but in terms of the visas, in terms of the various other
00:31:25aspects, how India and United States are going to collaborate, how India and United States
00:31:30are going to partner with each other, that phone call is going to decide the course of
00:31:35the partnership.
00:31:38Right, you know, that phone call, very, very critical, crucial phone call, Pranay,
00:31:41that you were speaking about.
00:31:42Over the past many years, Pranay, we have seen many hugs, many smiles, many big ticket
00:31:47events like Howdy Modi, Namaste Trump.
00:31:50All those things have happened over the course of the past many years.
00:31:53But do you believe, you know, realistically speaking, it will still take some time for the
00:31:58relationships to come out?
00:31:59Because we have seen our Operation Sindhu has been a big bone of contention.
00:32:03The US president has spoken not at one place, but at multiple forums, saying that it was the
00:32:08United States of America, because of which the ceasefire took place between India and Pakistan.
00:32:12So that is a very, very tricky issue that still remains.
00:32:16You are absolutely right.
00:32:19You know, there is a cautious optimism.
00:32:21And if you know that in the Indian psyche, the way, you know, Indian government works and
00:32:27the way we take any relationship, any bilateral relationship with any other country.
00:32:34Look, this has actually made a dent.
00:32:37We cannot deny the fact.
00:32:38But there is a pragmatism.
00:32:40There is a real politic involved here.
00:32:42We have to acknowledge the fact that the partnership with the United States has various aspects to
00:32:48it.
00:32:49This is a strategic partnership.
00:32:51And in the current turbulent phase of the global politics, it is important for India.
00:32:55And also, India values this relationship.
00:32:58And therefore, there is a there is there is a rapprochement.
00:33:02There is a there is a feeling that this need to be repaired.
00:33:05But if you also notice of late, not only that U.S. President Donald Trump made certain positive
00:33:11remarks about India of late in last last two weeks, he did not mention the ceasefire or
00:33:16Operation Sindhu or his, you know, so-called brokered peace deal.
00:33:21So if you read some positivity, some some indication in it, then we have to acknowledge the fact that
00:33:27he did not mention, though he has mentioned it umpteen times.
00:33:30And and we cannot deny the fact that he can mention it again as well.
00:33:35So that remains the the factor of unpredictability with U.S.
00:33:39President Donald Trump and and and especially a politician like him, which is an unconventional
00:33:44politician.
00:33:45But this is how his politics is.
00:33:48When I expect the unexpected, this is something which, you know, the world was very clearly
00:33:53looking at when Donald Trump became the U.S.
00:33:55president, and that's exactly what, you know, the world at the moment believes that this is
00:34:00something which we will see in days to come.
00:34:01Also, thank you, Pranay, giving us all those details, putting things in perspective.
00:34:13It is Donald Trump big double speak coming in with regards to tariff.
00:34:17Now, Donald Trump actually gave a statement to British Daily Financial Times.
00:34:25Donald Trump tells the European Union to hit China and India with a hundred percent tariff
00:34:30to pressure Vladimir Putin.
00:34:31Donald Trump has asked the European Union to impose tariffs up to a hundred percent on
00:34:36India as well as on China.
00:34:38And this is part of the joint effort to increase pressure on Russia to end the war in Ukraine.
00:34:44The president made the extraordinary demand after dialing into a meeting.
00:34:47This meeting taking place between senior United States administration people and the European
00:34:53Union officials.
00:34:54European Union officials and the U.S. administration officials had gathered in Washington, D.C.
00:34:59to discuss the ways to heighten the economic cost of the war for Moscow.
00:35:05While on one hand, we are seeing statements coming in from the U.S.
00:35:08President Donald Trump, where he's seen praising his relationship, personal relationship,
00:35:12personal rapport with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
00:35:14On the other side, we are seeing him giving statements to the British Financial Times,
00:35:19saying that what the European Union now needs to do is to start imposing tariffs up to a hundred
00:35:24percent, not only on India, but even on China.
00:35:27It is Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has accepted Donald Trump's offer on trade talks.
00:35:55Donald Trump has said that we will see the conversation happening in the next few weeks.
00:36:00Trade talks will conclude in coming months.
00:36:02And this is something that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accepted.
00:36:05Good friends, U.S. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Modi,
00:36:09will they have a conversation on trade very soon?
00:36:11That's the million dollar questions.
00:36:13It seems like a doubling down of sorts has happened between the U.S. and India.
00:36:18Prime Minister Modi has responded to Donald Trump's trade talk offer.
00:36:21Prime Minister Modi has said India and the United States of America, they are natural partners.
00:36:27Talks will pave way for limitless potential.
00:36:30We need to work together to secure a brighter future.
00:36:37My colleague Siddharth Zarabi is now joining me on the story.
00:36:40Siddharth, this is good news coming in.
00:36:42With regards to the Commerce Ministry, they are already looking at November this year to close the BTA,
00:36:47which is the bilateral trade agreement, now we are seeing positive statements coming in from the United States of America
00:36:53and the Indian Prime Minister.
00:36:55Prime Minister Narendra Modi responding to it.
00:36:57Well, if your question, Aishwarya, was what is the significance of these social media comments,
00:37:06very clearly, India and U.S. trade conversation is back on tracks formally and fully.
00:37:13And indications of that were available to us from a few days earlier,
00:37:19after Prime Minister Modi had responded to President Trump's remarks that were more at a personal level.
00:37:28It also means that comments by President Trump's aide, Peter Navarro,
00:37:34have not managed to derail the conversations because several of President Trump's aides
00:37:41have been piling on the pressure, resorting to social media comments and clearly politicking
00:37:49and going beyond what a government representative should normally be doing in such conversations.
00:37:55And we saw what happened to Peter Navarro's online poll as well in this regard.
00:38:01So what can we expect in terms of the conversation?
00:38:05Where can it be headed from here?
00:38:07The first key aspect on the table when the conversation begins once again between the two trade teams
00:38:16will be to take off the additional 25% Russian oil purchase penalty.
00:38:23Remember, that had nothing to do with trade.
00:38:26The first tariff of 25% was on trade, while this 25% was the Russian penalty.
00:38:37My colleague Pranay is also joining me on the story.
00:38:46Pranay, we are now seeing these kind of statements coming in.
00:38:50Do you think that we will actually see some change in stance?
00:38:53Or do you believe it's premature to say at the moment that the trade talks will be back on track?
00:38:58So both India and the United States of America at the moment very clearly looking at the fact
00:39:02that they do want the trade talks to be back on track.
00:39:05And that's the reason why we are seeing these positive statements.
00:39:08Two positive statements coming out in the past five days.
00:39:12But Aishwarya, isn't it a change?
00:39:14I think it is a positive change.
00:39:16The kind of statements which were being made by the Trump administration,
00:39:20by US President Donald Trump himself.
00:39:21The way he decided to put India in 50% additional tariffs on India
00:39:27and the kind of harsh statement made by President Donald Trump and his team.
00:39:34After that, I definitely see a change.
00:39:37As you were mentioning that from 6th of September onward,
00:39:41there has been a change made by, you know,
00:39:44in the stance of US President Donald Trump,
00:39:46the kind of statement he is making.
00:39:48And also, there is some forward movement in terms of the negotiation,
00:39:52in terms of both the teams, the way back-channel talks are progressing,
00:39:56the way both sides are approaching each other.
00:39:59And today, look, see the language of the Truth Social Post made by President Donald Trump.
00:40:05He said that I'm pleased to announce.
00:40:07So he is making an announcement that there is a positive movement in the trade talks.
00:40:13And he says that I'm pleased to announce that India and the United States of America
00:40:17are continuing negotiations to address the trade barriers between our two countries.
00:40:22Look, remember, like, recall the question which was asked to him a few weeks ago,
00:40:27wherein he said that I don't think so,
00:40:29when he was asked about whether the US team will be traveling to India
00:40:33for taking forward the trade negotiations,
00:40:36which he responded in terms of the negative, you know, response.
00:40:40But now he is saying that I'm pleased to announce that both countries are not only engaging
00:40:46with each other, but they are also, you know, taking forward the trade negotiations
00:40:53and reducing the trade barriers.
00:40:54So on one count, there is a forward movement as far as the bilateral trade negotiations are concerned.
00:41:00Secondly, he said that he's willing to talk to Prime Minister Nareem Modi,
00:41:03and he's looking forward to have a conversation with Prime Minister Nareem Modi.
00:41:06That is also a positive statement.
00:41:08And also his reiteration that India-United States partnership is very important
00:41:12and a key partnership for the Trump administration, he values that.
00:41:18So that is also important.
00:41:20So on all these three count, I see it as a positive movement and a positive statement.
00:41:24And that's why Prime Minister Nareem Modi has also responded to that positive statement
00:41:28made by President Donald Trump.
00:41:30And Prime Minister also said that India and United States are close friends and natural partners.
00:41:34Look, the kind of language, the kind of phrasing used by Prime Minister Nareem Modi also,
00:41:39he is not only reciprocating, he is adding the context to it that India and United States are natural partners.
00:41:46So look, when you say in terms of the geopolitics that two countries are natural partners,
00:41:51then you have to set aside certain barriers, you have to set aside certain differences,
00:41:54and you have to look at the larger aspect of a strategic partnership.
00:42:00And that remains the important key pillar.
00:42:01And also Prime Minister Nareem Modi also says that I am confident that our trade negotiations
00:42:06will pave the way for unlocking the limitless potential of India-US partnership.
00:42:12So look, Prime Minister also assures that there is a limitless potential available.
00:42:15So let us cross this bridge, let us close these trade negotiations and move forward.
00:42:21Thank you, Pranay, for giving us those details.
00:42:24Let us move forward.
00:42:25And natural allies, that is something which Prime Minister Nareem Modi has mentioned in his post,
00:42:29responding to what the US President Donald Trump has said.
00:42:32News that's coming in from India's neighbour, that is Nepal.
00:42:58India is now monitoring the unrest that is taking place in Nepal.
00:43:01The Indian government closely monitoring the escalating situation.
00:43:06Widespread protests being led by Generation Z.
00:43:08They have now turned violent.
00:43:10At least 19 people are dead and numerous people have been injured.
00:43:14Exclusive information received by India today.
00:43:17They are now saying that the intelligence agencies keeping a very close eye on the situation
00:43:21to prevent creation of anti-India atmosphere in Nepal,
00:43:25similar to what has been observed in Bangladesh.
00:43:27They are monitoring the social media posts and other platforms to identify and to mitigate any potential threat to India's interest.
00:43:35This is something which has very closely been looked at.
00:43:38This is information received by India today.
00:43:43Top intelligence sources have told India today that the agencies are keeping a very close eye on the situation.
00:43:49The social media platforms, they are now being observed very keenly.
00:43:53The other platforms are also being observed to identify and to mitigate any potential threat with regards to India's interests.
00:43:59In the last 48 hours, we have seen how Nepal has been burning.
00:44:10Which was that you are seeing on your screens were from Kathmandu.
00:44:13It's the Nepali army that has now stepped in.
00:44:15The Nepali army chief has now had a conversation with a representative of the Generation Z.
00:44:20The building that you are seeing, that's the parliament.
00:44:24The parliament has been set ablaze, even the palace.
00:44:28The palace building also was set ablaze by the protesters.
00:44:37Nepal now remains on the edge.
00:44:39Protests still continue to rage on.
00:44:40The Nepali army actually launched overnight crackdown across all the major cities.
00:44:45At midnight, the army chief met with Generation Z representatives to understand what their demands were.
00:44:51Talks between president and Generation Z leaders are expected to happen today.
00:44:55The army is stepping in as the mediator.
00:44:58Nepal's Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Auli resigned from his post
00:45:01following widespread anti-corruption protests that very soon escalated into violence.
00:45:06Those are the images that you are seeing on the screens.
00:45:08Generation Z protesters took to the streets.
00:45:11They were venting out fury against the establishment.
00:45:13They were torturing leaders' homes, cutting government offices,
00:45:16and even setting the parliament and the presidential palace ablaze.
00:45:20Vehicles have been vandalized.
00:45:22Ministers have been assaulted.
00:45:23The capital has now turned into a battlefield.
00:45:26There's arson and widespread anger that's very palpable.
00:45:30Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in fact, voiced anguish over the heart-rending violence
00:45:34and the loss of young lives.
00:45:36He stressed Nepal's peace and prosperity must be safeguarded.
00:45:40My colleague, Rohit Singh, is now joining me.
00:45:45My colleague, Rohit Singh, is now joining me.
00:45:47From Veerkanj in Nepal, Rohit, from what are we expecting will happen in the next 24 hours?
00:45:52Because the next 24 hours are extremely crucial.
00:46:18We have seen widespread arson.
00:46:20We have seen the presidential palace being burnt.
00:46:22We have seen the parliament being burnt.
00:46:24It seems like a conversation has now started between the president and those who are representing Generation Z.
00:46:30Well, see, yes, the next 24 hours could be extremely, extremely crucial as to what will be the future of Nepal.
00:46:43Because the manner in which in the last two days we have seen massive violence being reported
00:46:48from Kathmandu to Birganj and other parts of Nepal and especially in Kathmandu, the kind of arson, the kind of loot and vandalism that has been witnessed.
00:47:00Nothing has been left untouched in Kathmandu and also in Birganj where I am at this point of time.
00:47:06And now since last night the army has been called in and the army has taken control of most of the places in Nepal and in Birganj also the Ghanta Ghar Chowk
00:47:18which is the epicentre of the protests that has been witnessed in Birganj in the last two days.
00:47:24The army has now taken control of that area.
00:47:27But still violence is being reported in other parts of Birganj.
00:47:31And what we are learning is that near the Birganj jail also there has been some violence has been reported.
00:47:37But the situation on the ground continues to remain extremely, extremely tense as talks are likely to begin over the formation of the next government in Nepal
00:47:47who will be the prime minister or maybe who will be the interim prime minister.
00:47:51And you can see here the fire brigade also moving around because various parts of Nepal what we are seeing is that still violence is being reported
00:48:04and the army is trying to now take charge of the situation to control the situation which has gone out of hand in Nepal in the last 48 hours or so.
00:48:17So, as you were mentioning, yes, next 24 hours would be extremely, extremely crucial for what could be the future of this Himalayan republic.
00:48:26Back to you.
00:48:29Right, Rohit, you know, we have also seen how conversations have started happening.
00:48:32So that's a green shoot coming in.
00:48:34Well, yes, communication has begun but now remains to be seen that who could take charge as the next prime minister, who could be in the running
00:48:50and when will the next government be formed or maybe is Nepal heading towards a fresh election, that remains a big question.
00:48:59But in the last 48 hours or so, what we have seen is that the manner in which the anger of especially the Gen Z,
00:49:07the youth of Nepal has poured on the streets of Nepal, right from Kathmandu to other areas, has only reflected the fact that the kind of tension that was simmering,
00:49:20the kind of unrest that was simmering amongst the youth of Nepal.
00:49:25And it was not only the ban on social media which had irked them, but primarily it was the kind of rampant corruption, lack of transparency, high inflation and pathetic condition of the education system, no unemployment.
00:49:42This is what was really bothering the youth of Nepal and in the last two days we have seen the manifestation of the youth who came on the streets and have resorted to mass-scale vandalism.
00:49:55You can see in Kathmandu especially, nothing has been left untouched.
00:49:58As I was mentioning the President's House, the Prime Minister's House, several ministers' residences, the Singh Darbar, the parliament, everything has been completely torched, set on fire.
00:50:09And mass-scale vandalism has taken place and it's like Nepal is burning at this point of time.
00:50:17Now it needs to be seen that how things will get back to normal.
00:50:21Who will take charge of this Himalayan Republic in the days to come?
00:50:25Back to you.
00:50:27Rohit, please stay on with me.
00:50:29Our colleagues have been sending us ground reports of what exactly is happening in Nepal.
00:50:33Ashish Srivastava, my colleague, has sent this report.
00:50:35Take a look.
00:51:05Ok.

00:53:11News that's coming in at the moment.
00:53:32The Nepalese president, Bordel, is all set to meet Generation Z team today.
00:53:37Preparations are on.
00:53:38There will be a conversation that will now take place, a very crucial conversation between
00:53:43the president of Nepal, Bordel, and representatives of the youth who have taken on the streets
00:53:48in various cities.
00:53:49The talks will happen today.
00:53:51The army chief has now said that he wants a team, along with the demands, to have a conversation
00:53:55with the president.
00:53:57On the initiative of the Nepali army, the army chief has now already met with the Generation
00:54:02Z representatives.
00:54:03This meeting took place late last night.
00:54:05Army chief has now called on Generation Z representatives to understand the demands.
00:54:11Preparations are being made to hold a conversation between President Ramachandran Bordel and the
00:54:16representatives of the youth.
00:54:18This mediation will be done by the Nepali army.
00:54:21We are now seeing how preparations at the moment are being made.
00:54:28The next 24 hours, very, very crucial for Nepal.
00:54:31Which side will it go?
00:54:33It will be decided in the next 24 hours.
00:54:35The youth have taken on to the streets.

00:54:45There will be a conversation, talks that will be held between President Ramachandran Bordel
00:54:50and the representatives of the youth who have now taken on to the streets.
00:54:54Now the mediation will be done by the Nepali army chief.
00:54:5822 people are dead.
00:54:59Several are injured.
00:55:00Nepal is still on the boil.

00:55:24Images that you are seeing on your streets.
00:55:26Kathmandu.
00:55:29Large scale arson and vandalism has taken place in Nepal.
00:55:32Future of the youth is in danger.
00:55:34Time to wake up, stop corruption.
00:55:36Now those were the posters that one could see at various streets across the length and breadth of Nepal.
00:55:42The youths have now taken on.
00:55:44Vandalism has taken place.
00:55:45The two crucial buildings in Nepal.
00:55:47The presidential palace has been burned down.
00:55:51And the parliament also has been torched.
00:55:55My colleague Rohit Singh joining me from Nepal.
00:55:57Rohit, the preparations are on for these very critical talks that will take place
00:56:01between the representatives of the youth who are out on the streets
00:56:04and President Bordel.
00:56:06Now these are the talks that are very, very crucial.
00:56:08Which side the talks will go?
00:56:10The future of Nepal will depend on that.
00:56:18We'll try and reconnect with my colleague Rohit.
00:56:20Images that you are seeing on your screens.
00:56:22The last 48 hours.
00:56:24Very, very difficult for those who stay in Nepal.
00:56:26In fact, the Indian embassy also gave out a warning to Indians saying that you do not need to step out.
00:56:32If it's until and unless it's absolutely necessary, do not step out.
00:56:36The image is that you are seeing the army patrolling the streets of Nepal.
00:56:41The army has now said that the team of the representatives from the youth,
00:56:46they now need to charter out their demands
00:56:48and they need to have a conversation with the President.
00:56:50What exactly is it that the youth out on the streets at the moment is looking at?
00:56:57This initiative taken by the Nepali army,
00:56:59the army chief all set to meet Generation Z representatives.
00:57:03One such meeting has already taken place at midnight last night.
00:57:07Army chief is now saying that representatives should come with their demands
00:57:11and a conversation should happen with the President.
00:57:14Now, after massive violent protest,
00:57:24the Nepal Prime Minister, K.P. Sharma Oli, resigned.
00:57:27There was chaos that spread across the length and breadth of the country.
00:57:30But what actually led to the downfall?
00:57:32Take a look at this report.
00:57:33Nepal is on fire.
00:57:45Prime Minister, K.P. Sharma Oli, has stepped down,
00:57:49citing an extraordinary situation as massive protests engulfed Nepal.
00:57:53On Tuesday, chaos erupted as thousands of demonstrators stormed the streets,
00:58:03setting fire to Parliament and vandalising the homes of several political leaders.
00:58:10Gen Z-led protesters launched coordinated attacks across Nepal,
00:58:14targeting residents of prominent figures, including former Prime Minister.
00:58:18In a last-ditch move, a desperate Oli appealed to the army for protection
00:58:26and a safe passage from his residence.
00:58:30But army chief reportedly refused,
00:58:33saying order was impossible with Oli in power.
00:58:38India Today has learnt that Oli is now preparing to flee to Dubai,
00:58:43citing medical treatment as the reason.
00:58:45The anger of youth protesting against corruption and social media restrictions
00:58:50had already reached his doorsteps.
00:58:55Demonstrators stormed and torched Oli's private residence in bulk old.
00:59:00An unmistakable message that people had enough.
00:59:05From the power to panic,
00:59:08Oli's fall was in the making.
00:59:10Authoritarian rule,
00:59:13soaring inflation,
00:59:14vanishing jobs,
00:59:15a disastrous COVID response
00:59:17and corruption that shattered public trust,
00:59:20all contributed to his downfall.
00:59:26On the streets of Kathmandu,
00:59:28cheers replaced chants
00:59:30as news of Oli's resignation spread.
00:59:34Protesters held a march
00:59:36calling Oli's exit
00:59:37people's victory.
00:59:40As KP Sharma Oli's leadership faces uncertainty,
00:59:45several figures emerge
00:59:47as potential successors.
00:59:49Former Prime Minister
00:59:50Sher Bahadur Diobha
00:59:51of the Nepali Congress
00:59:53could return as a compromise candidate.
00:59:56While Maoist leader
00:59:57Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda
00:59:59may try to forge a new alliance.
01:00:02Reformist Shekhar Koirala,
01:00:04also from the Congress,
01:00:05has distanced himself
01:00:06from the ruling coalition.
01:00:07Meanwhile,
01:00:09Kathmandu's outspoken mirror,
01:00:11Balinda Shah,
01:00:12popular among youths,
01:00:13stands out as a bold,
01:00:14independent voice.
01:00:17This is the third violent change of guard
01:00:23in India's neighbourhood
01:00:24in three years.
01:00:25Mahendru Rajapaksa was forced to give up power in Sri Lanka in 2022.
01:00:35And Sheikh Hasina had to flee Bangladesh in 2024.
01:00:41While there are celebrations on the streets of Kathmandu,
01:00:44there is also caution in the air.
01:00:47What comes after Oli
01:00:48could define Nepal's future for years.
