00:00right Tony does uh do this sometimes he he does the unexpected Ishan Sharma three overs for 27
00:10he's gone back to him who's the player who's the bowler England would rather face at the
00:15moment three of us for 27 three overs left one this one from Ishan Sharma then he'll
00:28finish with Ashwin and Jadeja well if it goes that far England supporters this partnership 56 from 50
00:36so the pair of them are playing wonderfully well is it high risk what does he want to do he wants
00:42to keep Ashwin that's look at those figures three overs two for six Ashwin so he will be
00:48bowling in the power play power play are going to be the last two overs well remember this is
00:58uh for all practical purposes 20 over game but it's not t20 rules so 50 over rules must have five inside
01:06the circle they'll all be counting I can promise you the Indian supporters one dot ball a good one
01:18two that speed gun showing 116.8 so slower ball beautifully disguised Owen Morgan through his shot
01:25much too quickly so where can he go looking at this field it's going to be short bowling there's a deep
01:32fine leg deep square leg deep point mid on a mid offer inside the circle going slapped over mid wicket
01:40well it doesn't matter where the fielders are if you're going to get it out of the park you can have as
01:50many as you want inside well it's hands it's wrist work it flashes to the boundary this it's a maximum six
01:58acquired rate has been hovering nine point five ten point two it's eight point two five no work to do
02:07Dorney wonder sometimes whether he's left his lead bowler still too late it's always a debate isn't it
02:14Michael then when do you bowl your best bowlers do you to bowl them 1718 do you bowl them 1920
02:21absolutely you might find that uh the game has gone by the time his key men have got overs in the tank
02:31i just think because of the field he has to pitch it short now he's going to be a little fuller
02:38well it's a wide for a start well Morgan's scoring zone is to the to the scoreboard the electronic
02:44scoreboard underneath the floodlight which is at about what wide long on or straight mid wicket whichever
02:49you want to say and the team's tactics to Morgan in this tournament have been to try and bowl wide
02:54to take him out of that favorite scoring zone but the margins are fine shove it too wide
03:02and you pay the penalty and he's disrupted the ball looking around for some sort of inspiration
03:08that's what it needs 21 runs from 16 but he's going around the wicket now he's been looking for help
03:13fine leg is inside the circle
03:21well that's one way to prevent the batter from hitting sixes but it's not much good for the side
03:27well they spooked him boy Morgan has spooked ishan sharma doesn't really know what to do around the
03:33wicket he's balling full and wide field changes here dawny has got to do something he doesn't want him out
03:40there he's dropped fine leg back to the boundary
03:48i just wonder if dhoni having thrown the ball to ishan sharma is now counting the balls himself
03:58he's heaved it over there is a man there
04:00england fans will be saying oh and morgan what have you done here
04:05and i think michael antherton was spot on he was going to that area he wanted to go
04:09over mid wicket he was he's going to the old scoreboard
04:13but it was another slower ball from ishan sharma a well-disguised one
04:18morgan just clothed it to mid wicket
04:20just held it back in the palm of his hand put a little bit of off cut on it ashwin hanging deep
04:33on that inner circle takes a comfortable catch and india just struggling in that over until that point
04:40morgan gone to 33 110 to 5. right joss butler in at seven one of the young younger england players very
04:55contemporary enjoys being in situations like these he's got the game to capitalize on this now what what
05:01kind of field can he have because the one good thing morgan did if he could have done anything good
05:05with that dismissal was uh well what bopara did was to cross over so he's in strike now
05:15oh he's taken him now bopara saying was that too high he thinks he's he's pulled it down
05:22from above head high listen there wasn't a bouncer there always above shoulders not good enough
05:27it's got to be above head high the umpire saying i think you're on your way this match is turning
05:31around again two new batsmen at the crease and this is just what india wanted but para slaps it
05:37straight to backward square leg he shan't the villain he shan't the hero
05:45deep mid wicket in place which meant square leg was up and hovering just behind square there
05:52para wondering about the height of the ball but he's been sent on his way
05:56he's had a wonderful match but he hasn't got england over the line he's gone for 30 off 25 england still need 20.
06:15like,
06:21he's been sitting in the car he's been on his way too
06:27in front of the car, he's been heading for a long time
06:33in front of the car in front of the car.
06:38the car is in front of the car, but he's been in front of the car.
06:41so
06:43that a six two whites two wickets everything what a ball
07:10you see on Sharma for a very brief nano second thought there might be a hat-trick
07:15there only problem was he needed to hit the bat
07:19you've had a six two lights two wickets and a beauty extraordinary over this is
07:26that's the first of the wickets the doors open the batsman had crossed with the
07:33pilot it straight to square leg Butler on north Bresnan on north 22 in 13
07:40deliveries here's this chance again could be anything two hours a spin two hours a
07:46far play now there is a man down a third man can they take two on this one no
07:53they don't so a single 19 now needed of the last two as I said two of the spin
07:58two hours a far play one one one for six
08:13this is the hook shot from Bapara yeah wondered about the height but he's
08:19played the shot got bats on ball so the height is irrelevant
08:25what does it matter ravi you've hit the ball don't know the laws of players
08:30right he's got to single the power play he almost slaps deadhead and doing that
08:46see everyone's getting excited here right only three allowed outside the
08:52circle now will Bresnan go for the big slot he's eyeing up the leg side isn't he
09:01whether he's got the skill to do what Bapara did which is just knock it into that
09:08leg side but get weight on ball to enable you to come back for the second straight
09:14down the ground but he shanty's gonna cover that at long off he's got a slip
09:18in position he's got a deep mid wicket it's got a deep backward square remember
09:25a tie is a super over
09:33two catches is actually a catcher at short point it's a strange position just one
09:40needed to well is that super over today next week sometime well it depends on how much longer
09:47they take it would be the next day in India though it started yesterday in India no we've
09:53been at the ground for over 12 hours today 13 hours since I left my hotel right Butler you have to
10:02finish this game for England 18 from 11 last time us when he walked out a few
10:09matches a quick bit 33 from 13 oh he's knocked him over middle stamp what have you
10:13done the ball was on middle stamp and he was aiming well outside leg it's just gone on and
10:20hit middle it's not in the same parish here it's just a hit and hope and this game is
10:26topsy-turvy it turns round again three quick wickets up for India as the fireworks go off and the
10:32smoke screen goes across the ground little bit that sorry walk off as England now are tottering
10:40today's you're into the attack it's the top of middle stone 112 for seven
10:47horrible feeling confident 112 for seven
10:57right left-hander it's too broad finds the fielder now I run out teenager one of you is alive to the fact
11:26that there could be a run out there Ryan is saying hang on of Karthik rather why weren't you behind he's
11:32almost knocked out here Stuart Broad it's a desperate run is this hit and goal straight to the fielder
11:38Jadeja's motionless he just stands there watch Shikhar Dhawan behind he's a brilliant field
11:47Jadeja probably the best in the side the bat was in the air for a long time go say Shikhar Dhawan go
11:53Jadeja wasn't alive to that we waited all day for a cricket match and having a cracker at the end
12:01now Breslin is he going to go for it 17 from nine
12:05now they take a run there's a run out here surely England England
12:16Breslin is looking for a single just wasn't defined self-destruct this from England wonderful partnership
12:26between Bapara and Morgan India tottering Ishant Sharma into the attack wide sixes two into topsy-turvy game on the brink
12:39113 for eight he's nowhere in the picture England at sixes and sevens losing wickets at the back end is now down to the tail end Breslin has gone for two 113 for eight
12:53eight
13:23what a game we're having here now Treadwell he's the left-hander now directed oh dear England is running for everything what is Breslin running for there wasn't a quarter of a run there this was a close one too
13:46I can't believe this is an international team
13:53they've pressed a button and they've malfunctioned they did a six here
14:03start a talk talk need a miracle has been done before
14:08hard down the ground there's only one broad is running for a second England are redefining the single
14:20115 for eight after 19 just four from that over
14:25our ash we will ball the last over off spin against two lower order batsmen both left-handers
14:31this is the first wicket
14:33this is the first wicket
14:34this is the first wicket
14:35he's nowhere near the
14:37lines
14:39nowhere near the crease his presence sleeps he turns
14:42he drops to his knees
14:44one over to goal
14:46they're dancing in the aisles
14:48you can call those aisles
14:50they're dancing in the aisles
14:52you can call those aisles
14:54they're running for singles bubble they're just shutting their eyes and running on the assumption that they were completed now 15 to get from six balls 14 for a super over
15:11that partnership once that partnership was split between Morgan and Bapara game over
15:18to see a lot of t20 games they need to connect one in the first two balls
15:29now there's a lot of turn will go away from the both left-handers who don't he's got that right
15:35now he's moving his best field is for the slot
15:38only three allowed outside
15:41it's got one down a deep backward square one deep mid we get long gone is still available but there's long off out
15:46I'm gonna change that deep backward square comes inside the circle long gone drops back
15:53he's looked exclusively Stuart broad leg side the classy shot he's with the spin over extra cover
16:00I've never seen a fielder in 55 years stand at extra cover
16:04but it's a classy shot to hit with the spin
16:08I think he's just telling him no sweep please
16:11he's got a fine leg inside the circle he's got a backward square inside the circle
16:16he's happy with the singles in front of the wicket
16:19it's a field that says no boundaries square
16:21fifteen from six here's the first one Ashwin hasn't goal for a while
16:34now he thinks his foot is in the air they're looking at it not not so convinced don't he wasn't in but it's a dot ball
16:44well it's a dot ball
16:45well it's a dot ball that's the only thing that matters I don't think he's moved
16:51square leg umpire has played safe Rod Tucker he says let's have a look at this
16:56I mean just your gut feeling when you saw it he didn't advance down the pitch
16:59I'm not sure that he's lifted
17:01and he's look the leg side hasn't he the thing that he's trying to do is hit leg side it's a swing and hope
17:06I think they've made up their mind that it's only a six that can win it for them
17:11just holds that delivery stride for a while
17:18I think everyone's getting ready to play while we look at the replay
17:22oh hang on hang on here hang on
17:25hang on suddenly everybody's coming running into the wicketkeeper here
17:27because that bat might just be a foot might just be in the air
17:31now
17:34now has it come down
17:36this is one for Bruce Austin foot
17:38you can see the bales where are the bales you can see the gloves
17:42has he got something is he dragging back is he lifted
17:46where are the bales saw me the bales a different side this might tell us
17:50I didn't think he's dragged but he has
17:51well I think the bell he gave Ian Bell remember
18:00oh be a third up by everybody's got a decision here the bales up in the air
18:09now is his foot down is he dragging back is he lifted in the air
18:12I think he's going not out here Ian Bell's going to look at that and say Bruce how about me
18:23well I've heard it I've heard the decision here it comes
18:26it's a dot ball most important thing it's a dot ball
18:32where's he going to look this time he just glanced he's been looking all the time leg side
18:37against the spin against this quality
18:39England have made a hundred and twenty nine look like a hundred and fifty nine
18:44whether even if they get these
18:47fifteen from five he's got to connect one for a start now
18:54connects this will go for four this is a vital blow for England
18:59just had to beat square because mid wicket was very straight
19:02he'll change this field now
19:04big man huge man Stuart Broad gets this on the full
19:07uses his full stretch he's looking like side exclusively there's nobody there
19:13is he going to change this he's not he's kept the same field
19:18was a full toss I think he's been worried going off side here
19:21he's going to open this up he's going to change it
19:26second thoughts this thought again square leg drops to the boundary now who comes up
19:31now there's that shot there's that shot if you can play it it's real class over long off extra cover
19:39eleven from four nobody in the deep on the offside
19:43and it goes offside bottom of the bat he needed to time that ball didn't he
19:47it's now comes down to ten from three we need three boundaries here or six and a four need a miracle need a hero
19:55James Treadwell will have a chat with Stuart Broad it's a tame shot into the offside
20:00last time a champions trophy was played in England they had the game covered and then the West Indies one at eight wickets down
20:09remember India have nine in the bank not ten ten to win nine in the bank
20:17is it it past cover now is he going to get a hand to it he does he falls they're going for two year is that another run out happening here
20:23or have they come home I think it's all it's going to be close is this you always think that a batsman should
20:32dive in his long stride Stuart Broad it's a desperate run for two between Treadwell and Broad
20:39third umpire will look at this
20:42quiet in the ground it's a one bounce great throw
20:50gets it he's in
20:53it helps me as biggest Stuart Broad and he's done it beautifully dragging the bat in
20:58tremendous tremendous work from Stuart Broad
21:01I had to hit they had to go for four he had the width
21:04two boundaries required two fours or a six and a two or a six and a one bumble in the super over
21:16forgot that super over England needs seven off two deliveries this has to be a boundary
21:23Treadwell Treadwell lets it back over there is a man coming in from the deep can they complete a second
21:28broad with the with the second run it's down to six from one he's got to clear it he's got to clear this
21:36what a dramatic end it was so difficult when India batted up to the last three overs
21:43thirty
21:46thirty two thirty one runs last three overs they were priceless for India this has been a sluggish pitch it's been spinning
21:53England obeyed hard work
21:56batsmen stood together captain can watch on they need six from one ball spread out in a bunch
22:02well only three can go out they've already got nine from this over
22:06Treadwell's played it well now can he clear the boundary he's got to go on side for the six
22:11Ashwin six in the bank
22:13Treadwell misses
22:14but it doesn't matter India win the champions trophy as England capitulate it was their game England but it's been a
22:22tremendous bowling performance and my interesting Tony well this was the one trophy didn't have he's got it now
22:28what a game we've had we made it all day for it and India now winners of the ICC champions trophy 2013
22:35always going to be difficult
22:39129 for seven get your runs on the board this has been a sluggish pitch powerhouse team like India
22:46found a way to get to 129 and it was that last three overs that propelled them
22:52and they've been able to sit on the game to sit on England England can look at this and think Bapara Morgan together
22:59game over start the car no it's the tuk-tuk start the tuk-tuk India win by five
23:06the spinners did it
23:098 hours 4 for 39 between them in a six and a half runs and over game
23:15this crowd largely India supporters have been here for a long long time
23:19crowd some of them might have been here 12 hours to see a 20 over game
23:23but India will celebrate they've been the dominant team in this tournament
23:26did not lose a single game
23:29England will ask themselves was it our game that we allowed India to steal
23:33well get your runs on the board and defend it that's exactly what India have done no matter there isn't a small target
23:38that's what we've got we've got to defend it and they've done that wonderfully well
23:43excellent captaincy good work behind the stunts also from Dhoni in cloudy conditions
23:49it's India have found a way to win this cricket match
23:53so India 129 for 7 England 124 for 8 win by five runs
23:58well they will be celebrating here Virat Goli got the runs didn't he Shikhar Tavan got the runs early
24:09then the spinners came on
24:11we all wondered about Ishan Sharma he turned up with with a couple of wickets
24:16I still think Bumble I still think England found a way to lose it
24:19he shan't turned the game he ball wide he got hit for six and then he got two in two
24:26he got the two main players he got the farer he got Morgan
24:30two new batsmen at the crease on naught
24:33pressure
24:35real pressure told on England
24:38they were like rabbits in the headlines
24:40well they have found in Gravid de Jadeja
24:43bowled his four overs two for 24
24:45held his nerve in the end
24:47bowled all the important overs
24:48scored the runs at the end
24:50that couple of sixes at the end
24:52it's the difference between the two sides
24:54Ashwin two for 15 on the big day
24:57the surface to have a final
24:59it was turning like a top
25:01well it does here there are no secrets in this surface
25:04it's always going to be dry
25:05when they start dry like that these pitches
25:07they're always going to be demanding if you've got a decent spinners
25:11you're always in the game
25:12I'll say again
25:14get your runs on the board
25:22right one 24 for 8 India win by Vibrant Sanjay Mandreka is down there
25:26yeah I've got two young stars here at the moment with me
25:30very excited guys just tell us what you're thinking at the moment
25:33it's a great feeling to win the match because you know it's our last champion probably
25:36so it's a great feeling to win it was a very close match
25:39and can you imagine it's freezing cold here in England
25:42it seems like England but the pitch was turning square for you guys
25:45the pitch was really damp from the first innings but
25:48the way the guys stuck it out even when we were batting we were 65 for 5
25:51and Jadu and me got a partnership going and when the bowlers and the fielders did a tremendous job
25:55tell us about the emotions in this runches there must have been moments when you felt this match is slipping out of your grasp
26:01well sir certainly when Ravi Bopara and Eoin Morgan were smoking it all over the park we really thought that we were out of it
26:07but Ishan Sharma came back beautifully got two wickets and two balls and that's how cricket goes you know the game turns in two balls and we took advantage of it and Jodeja bowled a brilliant over to follow
26:16yeah Bhuvanesh he struggled a bit with the line today the wind was also an issue I mean the weather wasn't a friend today
26:22actually the wind was very heavy and it was a bit difficult to bowl from one hand but yeah still the way Ishan bowled he got us back in the match
26:29and you are part of a great team that keeps winning some important titles Veerat must be feeling great
26:34well this victory is sweet especially beating England at their home ground and you know this victory is really sweet for us
26:39I had some bad memories in India but you know this victory feels really nice and the guys have been playing beautiful cricket and we really deserve this win
26:46and not often an Indian team when it's overseas has been favorites you know we've won some world titles in the past but you were favorites you know halfway through the tournament
26:55everyone was expecting India to win in these kind of conditions that must feel special
26:59yeah it does because you know when we came from India even warm-up games for us are really important because we lose one and then people start saying we can't play overseas so
27:06the guys winning seven games out of seven and you know showing the character that we did and the way we won those games everyone's really really happy
27:12Bhuvanesh when did you feel that you know this team can win this tournament because coming to England there's always that question mark about India performing here
27:20when did you start believing that this team can win this tournament right from the first one match you know you're very confident the way the way we win the first one match
27:28you know the ballers bowl well but we scored the run so from the first match you're very confident
27:33well well done guys and thanks for talking to us it's over to you Michael
27:36thank you Dinesh fantastic feeling for you I'm sure
27:41definitely you know we're very good played this tournament has been really good for us and we're very happy with the way things went
27:47tell us about the ground I mean it must feel like a home game for you 80% of the supporters here barracking for India the pitch turning square
27:54absolutely I mean you know hats off to the crowd they were there throughout the day and it was a great match for them to watch and that's the best thing about this game I mean it was really there till the end and hats off to them they've all come in big numbers for you Michael
28:06129 did you think it could be enough for you?
28:09we did believe that we could do it because the wicket was turning there was a little bit in it for the wicket but hats off to the boys for the way they bowled
28:17and the two wickets that Ishan Sharma got that seemed to be the critical over for you the turning point
28:22I think so yeah because you know they're cruising at that stage Babara and Morgan are batting really well but to come back from that stage and to bowl a couple of good overs you know shows that you know we're a good team and put on the pressure we're delivering
28:32it's a remarkable transformation this India team has made given all the senior players that you've put aside since the World Cup win in 2011 this team could go a long way
28:42that's good yeah I mean we've been feeling very well in this tournament that's been our biggest plus and obviously batting ball we've been delivering and we've played some really good cricket we're very happy
28:50go and enjoy the evening well done
28:51right Roy Sharma and Suresh Farhana here with me Suresh did you imagine that in the finals in these conditions you'll be needed to bowl your off-spinners?
29:00I think I think we played really really good cricket here I think everyone took the responsibility especially Rohit and then Sikhar Dhawan, Dinesh Karthik and Jadeja has been amazing throughout the tournament I think really goes to everyone in the side
29:12yeah Rohit maybe you also at some point of time must have felt maybe I'll have to bowl a couple of overs of spin on this kind of surface
29:21yeah exactly yeah I think the wicket was a little stopping but things apart I feel you know it was a great victory we showed the people what we can do people thought when we came here you know alien conditions and all that stuff but we came here and proved what we were capable of
29:36Ishan tell us about your feelings it was a bit of a roller coaster that you know there were occasions where you know everyone felt is Ishan going to lose the game for us and in the end picking up a couple of wickets and India was right back
29:49just tell us how you felt through that time
29:51actually at that time I was quite nervous you know the things were not going on my way but I think I've held the nerve and holding too much strength so that was what I was doing and thanks to this man he was taking some brilliant catches and thanks to Ash in the end I think it was tremendous
30:03so what what made Tony trust you in that situation
30:06I think maybe I've done it in the past maybe that's why I believe in me maybe I can do it that's why I've done it so maybe he think like I can do it today as well so that's what I did I think I took those two wickets and that helped the team to win the game
30:22and tremendous support from the crowd Ishan it seems like you're on an Indian ground just the cold makes you feel that you're in England
30:28seriously I think we have to say thanks to the crowd I think it's really tremendous I think it's no worse for them I think we have to say just only we can say to them it's thanks
30:39well well done Ashant it was brilliant and enjoy the success
30:41thank you very much

33:11Chris Wokes
33:14and finally their captain Alastair Cook
33:19Alastair if I could just have a quick word with you
33:30a frustrating day
33:32so much hope halfway through that innings and then you were just blown away with the bat
33:36yeah I mean it's a I think the first credit's got to go to Gary and his groundsman staff for getting that against the game
33:42we wanted to have it in our hands that opportunity to try and win the trophy and we've come up a little bit short today
33:47I thought we bowled well and 130 you'll take that to chase but it's probably a slightly harder wicket to bat than we probably thought about it but yeah it's just tough to take at the moment.
33:59It all looked a bit frenetic out there with the bat was that the pitch or was that just pressure?
34:03No I think the pitch was quite hard to bat on I think both sides found it you know it's quite early to start going to debriefs about it but who knows you know you're always going to think of certain reasons for why and I'm sure the next few days you'll do that but I'm proud of the way the lads played in this tournament we've been under pressure pretty much throughout the tournament and we've responded well and we've just fallen a little bit short here today.
34:15Was it still that old nemesis spin that did you today?
34:31No I think that pitch turned quite a lot towards the end it was very surprising for a turn as much as that and credit to the way the Indians guys bowled there but you know we're almost there you know 20 odd needed 60 or 16 balls left maybe.
34:40A bit more than that but yeah it was in our hands.
34:48Were you disappointed to have a pitch like that playing against India?
34:51Made them feel at home?
34:53It's been a bit of an away game for us here anyway today.
34:57You know I think the grounds has done a fantastic job here.
35:00You know you can't the weather's made it very hard to prepare a wicket but you know as I said to him earlier credit to where the ground staff and all the volunteers are getting that pitch ready.
35:07You know we wanted to play a game and you know we just can't be sure.
35:11A lot of good things came out of the tournament for the side though.
35:14Yeah I know just staying in the final the other six teams would like to be here and we're here.
35:18So yeah a lot of good things a lot of good performances which we'll look back on with some pride but obviously at the moment we're you know it's a bit devastated but it's you know we can move on as a side and try and get better.
35:30The wait continues for a 50 over global tournament when will it end?
35:35Well hopefully sooner rather than later obviously you know it's great that we had the opportunity today and hopefully in 2015 we can learn from this.
35:42Thank you for your part in the tournament well played.
35:44Cheers Nass.
35:45Alistair Cook the England captain.
35:46It's now time to announce the player of the match for this game here quite a difficult choice good performances on both sides but for his all-round display in a match-winning game for India.
36:03Ravindra Jadeja for his 33 not out and his 2 for 24.
36:16Ravindra I need to have a word with you please.
36:19Ravindra don't run away.
36:20I'm not that bad you have to run away from me what a what a performance from you in the final you deliver.
36:33I think I did very well in throughout the tournament and I was very positive about the tournament and when I was when I came here in England so I was just fully prepared with my you know skills batting and bowling.
36:45Yeah talk about the batting first because you haven't had a much of a hit and you go in in that pressure situation.
36:51What did you and Virat say to each other?
36:53Yeah I think we get was a bit slow so very difficult to rotate the strike you know early on that once you get in then you can easily hit the big shot.
37:00So me and Mira Virat was talking that we will build up a good partnership then if people if we play till the end then we can make it scoreboard 100 and more than 130.
37:10Shows what the skipper thinks of your bowling now first choice change bowler.
37:15He goes straight to you feel under pressure on a turning pitch.
37:18No I was enjoying the bowling on this wicket because the ball was gripping little bit.
37:22So yeah I was just bowling my you know bowling to my strength and yeah skipper is always backing me whenever I whenever I bowl.
37:30So you always keep backing me up.
37:32Well well done. Please go and collect the golden ball as well because you've got the most wickets in the tournament.
37:37Ravinder Jadeja wins the golden ball 12 wickets.
37:41He collects it from Saurav Ganguly 12 wickets fantastic performance.
37:54We now move on to the golden bat.
38:00This is for the person who scored the most runs in the tournament.
38:05This was a fairly easy choice for his 363 runs at an average of 91.
38:12The golden bat goes to Shikha Dewan.
38:15Shikha you're loving this moment aren't you?
38:34You must have dreamt of this for a long time.
38:36Yeah I'm loving this moment and I dreamt it before I played this tournament.
38:40I wanted you know to become the man of the tournament and God has blessed me and I'm really happy about it.
38:45The way you've batted it's almost like you've batted in England all your life.
38:48How have you found conditions?
38:50Yeah I really love bouncy tracks and it suits my game.
38:54So I was working hard in the practice and then I played few warm-up games and then it went my way.
39:00So I really enjoyed it.
39:01You've had to wait a long time to put the Indian shirt on.
39:04Does that make this even more special?
39:06Yeah for sure it makes it more special for me because I was out from the Indian team for 2-3 years.
39:11And I worked really hard and then I came back and did really good for my team.
39:16Did you ever doubt yourself at any stage?
39:19No not really.
39:20Of course I was sad when I was.
39:22I knew that I had that talent in me but I wasn't performing that much.
39:26But then I sorted out myself and started performing more.
39:30You enjoy opening the batting with Rohit Sharma.
39:32There's good communication between two.
39:34You're running well.
39:35Yeah I love batting with Rohit Sharma.
39:36Running between the wickets is really good.
39:38I love seeing his classy shots.
39:40The facial hair and the moustache both you and Jadeja.
39:44Is that going to stay?
39:45Yeah for sure it's going to stay.
39:47It's like an Indian thing back home and for sure it suits me.
39:51So for the crowd I do that.
39:54Yeah I love it.
39:56It works.
39:57Well done.
39:58And I would like to dedicate this award back home to the people.
40:02Those who lost their life in the flood recently and those who lost their families and everyone.
40:09My praise up with them and this award is dedicated to them.
40:13Great words.
40:14Well played.
40:16Many congratulations.
40:17It's time now for the biggest roar of the evening.
40:22If I could ask the Indian team to come up in alphabetical order please.
40:28Starting with R. Ashwin.
40:35R. Ashwin please could you come up for your winner's medal.
40:50For the third time.
40:52R. Ashwin please could you come up for your winner's medal.
40:57Bye到 می Khos potatoes.
41:02Be good.
41:03And a jacket.
41:05Shakha Dhawan.
41:06Ravindra Jadeja.
41:07Dinesh Karthic.
41:12Virat Kohli.
41:17Bhuvanesha Kumar.
41:21Amit Mishra.
41:23Irfan Pathan.
41:26Patan, Suresh Rayna, Ishan Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Morili Vijay, Vinay Kumar, Umesh Yadav,
41:51and last but not least, M.S. Doney.
42:11M.S., if you could just come up for a few words, please, M.S.
42:21M.S., your side has played with a lot of flair throughout the tournament, but today they showed they can handle pressure as well.
42:38Yes, I think most of them, they have got exposure of international cricket, and the ones who have recently made their debut,
42:46they have played a lot of A-tours and also domestic cricket and IPL, you know, where they play in front of 40,000, 50,000 people.
42:53So I think they responded really well.
42:56I was just thinking when we were batting, I said, just get me close to 130, you know, look to do something.
43:01And I think they batted really well to get us close to 130, and that little bit of shower, you know, that really helped us.
43:08I think, you know, the ball was gripping later on, and I think it was because of those showers.
43:13Did you ever doubt that 130 would be enough? Do you doubt yourself ever?
43:17Well, yes, you know, once you start, you have to go through everything, but it's important to be positive.
43:23I said, you know, let's look for a good start. That's something that's very critical.
43:27Well, don't think about the result, and, you know, the first and foremost thing was, don't look up.
43:32God is not coming to save you. You have to fight it out. We are the number one ranked team.
43:36Let's play like that. If we lose, you know, they'll have to score the runs. We won't make it easy for them.
43:41Those overs of Jadeja and Ashwin were like gold dust to you. You had to use them very carefully.
43:46Well, I kept it. I knew the two overs of power play was very crucial, and more often than not,
43:51if the opposition is chasing, they'll look to take it in the 19th and the 20th over, and I said,
43:56OK, let them, at least I can have fielders in the right place.
43:59If it's fast bowlers, they're used to playing fast bowlers, so it will be quite easy for them.
44:03They can play all those ramp shots and all, and it will be quite easy for them.
44:07I said, will they make them slog off the spinners? I think it really worked for us.
44:12Everyone has been amazed how quickly your team has moved on from all those legendary names that have gone by.
44:18Are you so amazed that they've moved on so quickly?
44:20Well, I think they handled the pressure really well. I think it's very important.
44:24The reason being international cricket, people talk a lot about technique and other things,
44:29but I think the better players are the ones who adjust to the pressure really well,
44:33who respond really well to the pressure, and I think it's very critical the way Rohit and Shikha batted.
44:39I think they gave the confidence to the whole side, and once we were confident, we knew we are right there.
44:44We just need to tinker a bit, get the stuff going, and it will really work for us.
44:49Is the fielding and the improvement in fielding and energy in the field, is that just a change in personnel,
44:55or do you feel a bit of a cultural change going on in the dressing room?
44:58Well, I think it's a cultural change, and also not to forget all of them, you know, when they started playing,
45:03they had good infrastructure so they can dive and, you know, dive in and dive out every day,
45:07but if you see some of us, you know, I'm the oldest in the side right now,
45:11when we played, we never really had this kind of outfield to dive,
45:14so we were, you know, rolling on more often than not than diving and sliding.
45:17So I think it's a big change in Indian cricket, and I think it's a lot of credit goes to BCCI
45:23for, you know, developing the right infrastructure that's needed and, you know, wisely spending the money.
45:29They have got the money.
45:30What about you personally? You've won the World 2020 in South Africa.
45:35You've won the World Cup at home. You've now won the Champions Trophy.
45:38What is there left for you to achieve?
45:40Well, for me, what's important is how I'm going to play the next game.
45:46I think from here, we go on to West Indies.
45:48I think, you know, it's critical that we do well over there and take it, you know, one at a time,
45:53you know, not really look at what needs to be done.
45:55You know, I'm not here to prove anyone how good I am.
45:57For me, you know, winning the game is very important,
45:59so I think we have got the right side right now which can take and handle the pressure
46:03and take Indian cricket forward as far as the ODIs are concerned.
46:07Well, you are very good. Your team are fantastic.
46:09You've won every single game in this tournament.
46:11Go and collect the trophy and enjoy the evening.
46:14Thanks a lot.
46:16The winners of the Champions Trophy 2013, India.
46:33What an extraordinary cricket match then.
46:50We waited hours and hours hoping to get a game.
46:54At one point, it looked like the game was gone five minutes away from being called off.
46:58The ICC said we played a half-past eight that allowed a game to go ahead
47:02and now for Mahendu Singh Dhoni, every, every trophy in the world in its cabinet.
47:07It was World Test Match No. 1, the ICC World Cup, the Champions Trophy, the World T20.
47:13Add to that a couple of IPLs and Champions Leagues
47:15and he's done everything that a captain can
47:17and I think he's now got a team that is genuinely his team.
47:21They'll celebrate and well, they might.
47:22These young people have done really well.
47:26They've fought hard, they've played hard, they've played very well under pressure.
47:30So they might as well celebrate while they can.
47:32It's going to be a very, very long evening for them and an evening filled with much joy.
47:36They didn't lose a single match in this tournament, not even in the warm-ups
47:40and it was genuinely a campaign that this young Indian cricket team can be very proud of.
47:48There you are then, the ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
47:52A short, crisp tournament, top eight teams in the world and India have won every single game,
48:01including the warm-up games.
48:02He had a pretty good tournament himself.
48:04Virat Kohli got a crucial half-century in the semi-final.
48:07How important was his 43 today in a winning cause?
48:11He gave Dhoni the 130 that he needed, his partnership with Ravinda Jadeja.
48:16Dinesh Karthik has had a half-century.
48:18Umesh Shadav bowled a few tight spells.
48:22The captain was in tremendous form.
48:24Ravinda Jadeja, for my money, the player of the tournament with baton ball.
48:28Shikhar Dhawan was the top scorer.
48:30Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, two-century partnerships, two half-century partnerships.
48:35You really can't expect more from the openers.
48:38Ishan Sharma, one man of the match, one match-changing spell today.
48:45Really, Mahindra Singh, Dhoni, Mieva, it's time to look back and say,
48:48there wasn't a player in my side who did not deliver just when it was needed.
48:52Suresh Ranaf, brilliant in the field with those slip catches.
48:55Slipped in a couple of overs today.
48:58Hardly had any time to bat because of the strength of the top order.
49:02But this is a side that India can now look ahead to with confidence.
49:07Look ahead and say there's largely young players who've taken a lot of pressure.
49:12And the nucleus is there, certainly in one-day cricket, to play for India for a very long time.
49:21The crowd has been there for a long time.
49:22Trevor Penny, the fielding coach, for the first time you can say that India were the best fielding side
49:26in the tournament.
49:28Virat Kohli, Rabindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Rana.
49:32The fielding was excellent.
49:33The catching was top class.
49:35Ravi Chandran Ashwin in the slips has emerged as a very good catcher in that area.
49:39And I'm delighted they're going on that little victory lap because the crowd here was simply sensational.
49:43You know, Captain Kool eventually won today.
49:46Captain Kool versus Captain Cook.
49:48These spectators came in about nine, half past nine, assuming a 10.30 start.
49:53And this crowd has not gone anywhere.
49:55And this crowd has not gone anywhere.
