00:00It declined to Asia for the first time in five years.
00:04Climate progress has regressed and we have a projection that over 260 million people in our region
00:13could be pushed into poverty within the next decade.
00:17But I still think that this is a remarkable opportunity for us to really drive progress.
00:25Home to more than half of the world's population, Asia-Pacific is not just a key player.
00:33It is a critical driver of global impact.
00:38But in order to lead, we must stop leading from the sidelines.
00:42It is time that we need our Asian voices to shape the agenda.
00:47And we need to set the pace, we need to offer solutions that are rooted in the realities of our region
00:55that are contextualized in our culture.
00:58And we need to take our seat at the global table.
01:03The theme for this year's conference, Asian Leadership for an Inclusive World,
01:09actually reflects our collective power and our drive to drive change,
01:15our capacity to really, really make the world a more inclusive place.
01:19Global progress depends on Asia's leadership.
01:24And that leadership has to come from demonstrating the clarity of our voices
01:30and the confidence that we must have to claim our seat at the table.
01:36We are not a monolith.
01:38We are home to thousands of languages, faiths and cultures.
01:42We are a music of large countries and small islands, developed economies and developing markets.
01:51This diversity, I believe, is our greatest strength.
01:54And we must ensure that every voice in our region is not just heard,
02:00but is actually leading the conversation.
02:02One of our strongest voices and a true example of Asian leadership
02:08is our host partner, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.
02:12As one of the largest philanthropic organizations in the world,
02:17they are a powerful example of the change that we can create together.
02:23Please join me in thanking them for generously hosting us here in Hong Kong.
02:28So what makes the AVPN Global Conference so special?
02:41What makes so many of you come back year on year to the conference,
02:46no matter where in the world we host it?
02:49I believe that we are special because we bring stakeholders from a diverse range,
02:55not just geographically, but also from the asset classes that they actually represent.
03:02Here at the AVPN Global Conference, you will meet foundations, family offices, governments,
03:09multilateral banks, corporates, social enterprises and innovators and impact makers
03:16to create and drive meaningful collaborative action.
03:21Just in the past few days already, we have seen some incredible collaboration take place.
03:28Yesterday, we had the fourth convening of the Commission on Asian Philanthropy
03:33that actually brought together thought leaders and drivers of philanthropic action across Asia.
03:40And we also brought together our Asia Gender Network members
03:45who come together to advance gender equality in their own communities across Asia.
03:51And we'll see you next time.
04:21You
