Sadiq Khan refuses to intervene in Tube strike saying there aren't 'exceptional circumstances'
Transcript
00:00I think what's very important is for the RMT and the TfL to get around the table and talk about the differences they've got and try and meet them where they can.
00:10I can't sugarcoat the fact that these strikes are incredibly bad news for our city.
00:15They're bad news for patients who are struggling to meet hospital appointments.
00:19They're bad news for those parents who find it really hard to get their kids to school because they need a tube to get from home to school.
00:26They're really hard for people who haven't got the luxury. I call it a luxury in these times to work from home because they've got to be in a place of work to do their job or to visitors or to businesses.
00:39And that's why it's really important RMT and TfL resolve it.
00:42Now, in the past, in exceptional circumstances because of record-breaking inflation levels, because of List Trust's mini-budget, I've supported the Met Police Service, the Fire Brigade and Transport for London financially.
00:55I'm not able to do so. That's an exceptional circumstance. That's why I'd encourage RMT and TfL to get around the table and sort this out.
01:03This will only be resolved if RMT and TfL get around the table and resolve it. I'd encourage RMT to get back around the table with TfL to resolve this.
