Pre-events for this year's Semicon are underway in Taipei, with industry leaders laying out themes that include Taiwan’s role in AI, advanced packaging and memory — even as geopolitics takes center stage. Organizers say more than 1,200 companies will attend and they expect roughly 100,000 visitors at this year’s show.

00:00The show floor may not open until Wednesday, but here in Taipei, pre-events for one of the world's largest chip shows, Semi-Con, are already kicking off.
