00:00The Great North Run 2025 has come to a close, marking another unforgettable chapter and with the world's most iconic half marathons.
00:08Over 60,000 runners pounded the 13.1 mile stretch from Newcastle to South Shields.
00:14Chared on by roaring clouds, driven by personal stories and united by a shared sense of purpose.
00:20Well, we're Action for Children and we've got around about 60 runners taking part in the Great North Run for us today, all raising money for our services.
00:32We're a charity that helps vulnerable children throughout the UK and we've got quite a number of services in the North East.
00:41So it's great that we've got so many runners coming out to support us because we wouldn't be able to run our services without their support.
00:48So, yeah, that's why we're here today.
00:51And it's such a great opportunity for us to support the guys that have been fundraising throughout the year.
00:57So, you know, we've got some amazing targets that have been smashed.
01:01We have.
01:02Yeah, it's just great to be here for them, really.
01:04Hi, my name's Matt and I work at the Brain Tumor Charity and it's fantastic to be back at the Great North Run.
01:11So we're here supporting all our runners. We've got over 190 taking part this year,
01:17which is absolutely fantastic. And what a place to do it. What a place.
01:22So the money raised will go to many things, including our research, our support services that are an essential lifeline to the people of the community.
01:34Absolutely love it. This is this is one of the best events on the planet.
01:39And you get the chance to come back. Amazing from elite athletes chasing records to first time runners pushing their limits.
01:48The energy was electric, even as the winds along the South Shield sea front added an extra layer of challenge to the final miles.
01:55Among the countless inspirational stories was Drew Graham and his team running in support of Jim Possible, a cause close to their hearts.
02:03We put up with Drew earlier this week and he shared his hopes of breaking one of their personal records.
02:08A bunch of our friends, six of them are going to be pushing me in a specialised racing wheelchair and we're going to try and break the world records.
02:17I've got Ryan McLeod and Matthew Nicholson and we've got four other team members who have been training really hard and they're all ex elite runners.
02:26So, yeah, we're going to try and run one hour 15.
02:30Despite the headwinds working against them, the determination never wavered.
02:35Their final time was nothing short of brilliant and their efforts on and off the course reflect the true spirit of the Great North Run.
02:41As runners crossed the line, exhausted but elated, it was clear whether chasing medals or milestones, everyone had their own victory to celebrate.
02:50From personal bests to charity milestones, the day was filled with stories that remind us why this event remains such a beloved picture in the sporting calendar.
02:59So, it's all so far and the reality is that we're going to be in the past and that is only three people who want to serve, but also very much to have seen those events in the past.
03:09So, thank you very much for this event.
03:14So, thank you very much.
