00:00These are the building blocks for a balcony power plant that Renate Schultes and her colleagues will soon assemble.
00:06They are members of Solar 2030.
00:09The non-profit organization has an ambitious goal.
00:12Munich is to be supplied with 100 percent renewable energy by 2030.
00:18The three would like to contribute to this with small private solar systems.
00:22Solar 2030, the name says it all.
00:25We want Munich to be climate neutral by 2030.
00:29And for that we need solar modules.
00:32And it's often not possible on roofs because a tenant cannot determine what happens on the roof.
00:39But the balcony is available.
00:41A balcony power plant is a great idea that every citizen can say, regardless of major political conditions,
00:47Okay, I'm making my contribution to the energy transition, I can do it, I can do it.
00:51Everyone is now pitching in and in the next two hours a photovoltaic system will be installed on Valentina Kokina's balcony.
01:00Please come in. I'm very happy. Thank you for visiting me.
01:07The Ukrainian woman fled here because of the war and, as a pensioner, does not have much money at her disposal.
01:13The balcony power plant and its installation are now being donated to her by Solar 2030.
01:18The association is financed through donations and has an important approach.
01:22The energy transition from the bottom up. Solar systems should also be accessible to people with limited financial means.
01:28The people who can buy it themselves also receive funding from the city of Munich.
01:34And for people who can't afford it, we provide them with the balcony power plant and we give them advice on it.
01:43And we'll also install the balcony power plant so you can be absolutely sure that everything fits.
01:49The small balcony power plant converts sunlight into free electricity, which is fed into the grid.
01:56Valentina Kokina couldn't afford the approximately 500 euros that the whole thing, including installation, costs.
02:03I am so grateful for the professional work and for the help given to us pensioners and to the Ukrainian people.
02:10The 67-year-old came to the association through the Munich Tafel, where Renate Schultes and her team present the balcony power plants.
02:18More and more people have to rely on food aid.
02:22Rising living and electricity costs are causing problems for many.
02:26Solar 2030’s offering is attracting interest.
02:30All we need is the landlord's approval and, of course, a balcony.
02:34Do you have a balcony with lots of sun?
02:36Yes, I have a balcony.
02:38In 2025 we need to use sustainable and efficient energy.
02:45If you can save money each year through sustainability and energy, that's a really good opportunity.
02:54Depending on the location, whether it is in the east, south or west, you can collect up to 300 kilowatt hours per year.
03:01And if a kilowatt hour costs 35 cents, you save about 100 euros.
03:06100 euros per year is a lot of money for Wolfgang Klötzl.
03:10The pensioner has been saving electricity with the balcony power plant for four weeks.
03:13Since Solar 2030 also takes care of aftercare, he is now receiving a measuring device that shows him how much free electricity he is producing from the sun.
03:22The balcony electricity is sufficient for basic household needs, such as the refrigerator, freezer, internet router, and standby devices.
03:35If you measure it, you might find that he actually no longer needs to buy electricity during the day.
03:41The club’s motto is “sun in the heart and more money in the pocket.”
03:46This now also applies to Valentina Kokina.
03:49And Renate Schultes and her team have come one step closer to their goal of a climate-neutral Munich by 2030.
