00:00What I was trying to say through my speech is that when we talk about human fraternity as human
00:17being, we have the tendency to look at it from a moral perspective. But human fraternity from
00:24my scientific point of view is more than moral. It is actually the key to the survival of the human
00:33species. And this is why I talk to you about how even the creation itself has created our solar
00:41system with all the eight planets, different one from the other, each of them following their own
00:48dance around the sun and all that with a different mass, a different speed and all that. But each of
00:55those is so well timed. And if you were to perturb just a little bit in any of them, automatically
01:02it will perturb the whole solar system. The earth will not be anymore at the same 150 million
01:09kilometers from the sun. We're going to go closer, in which case we're going to burn down,
01:14or we're going to go farther, in which case we're going to go into a permanent ice age and
01:18our species will disappear. The same way there is this, how you call it, diversity, even in
01:26the planets, in our solar system, should tell us that diversity is actually what should make
01:32us function even better. But we have to learn how to take advantage of our diversity, how to
01:40look at it as, you know, strength, instead of looking at it as a weakness. What I was
01:46tell them, I was going to tell them is as a scientist, if we want to reach the peace that
01:54we are seeking, if we want to reach the fraternity that we are seeking among all human, respect
02:01and consideration and inclusiveness and all that, if we want to do that, we have to come
02:07out with intelligent projects. And let's analyze those projects in the most rigorous scientific
02:15way. You know, for example, I talk about my program for the young girls. If you look at
02:21that program, you know, I am putting girls together from different perspective to analyze a problem
02:29that is a problem that is common to all humanity. For example, now the climate change is not
02:37Mali problem. It is not a problem of Malaysia or of America. It is a problem, a worldwide problem.
02:45Now, if you want to find that kind of solution, you have to start preparing a problem solver of
02:51the future, but in a global way, where they can all come to the table with different perspective
02:59and come out and give you the best solution possible, okay, from what they have observed
03:04and what they have lived. Now, if we, if the politicians, the decision makers were to actually
03:12just stop one minute and realize that it is not about signing agreements. It's not about putting
03:20into place policies, you know, it's beyond that. It is about coming out with implementable projects
03:28in which human beings themselves can participate. But it is about having the right architecture of
03:36those projects that will take into account all the aspects, making sure that you and I spend time
03:43together face to face, get to know each other, get to value each other, get to appreciate each other
03:49and contribute all of us to the same project. That is something that cannot be, it is, it is
03:55place, you cannot replace it with nothing else. So, and that come from the way you do your work
04:02breakdown structure. I call it work breakdown structure. At NASA, when we built a machine,
04:09the machine usually might have 4,000 parts, but you start dividing it into pieces like communication
04:17system, navigation system, navigation system, propulsion system, structural system. Once you do that then
04:23you start looking into each of those systems, the detail. When you analyze this project that we're
04:29talking about, let's look at it how, you know, you can, the project can bring people close to one another,
04:34can get people to know each other, can get people to appreciate one another and value one another's opinion.
04:41You know, all that has to be taken into account for the project in the end to deliver all that.
04:47If we were to do that right now with the next generation of kids, I think that within the next 20
04:55to 25 years, one generation, the world will be a much better place to live in.
