Me singing "If You Could Read My Mind" at Austin's Ale house a few weeks ago
Transcript
00:00I made my mind low, or a tale my thoughts could tell.
00:05Just like an old tartan movie, that a ghost knows you well.
00:11In a castle dock, or a barter strong with chains upon my feet,
00:17you know the ghost is me.
00:20And I will never be set free, until I am the ghost that you can see.
00:30I walk away, like a movie star gets budgeted, three-way split.
00:36And I do, not the two, movie queen, the play, the scene,
00:42of bringing all the good things out of me.
00:46But now, the last movie, I never thought I'd ride this way,
00:52and I gotta say that I just don't get it.
00:55I don't know where we went wrong, but the feeling's gone,
01:00and I just can't get it back.
01:02If I could read your mind low, or a tale your thoughts could tell.
01:11Just like a paperback in a hole, the time that drops your cells,
01:17that you reach the part, when the heartache's gone,
01:21the hero would be me, and the heroes often fit.
01:27And you won't read that book again, because the ending's just too hard to take.
01:33And I walk away, like a movie star gets budgeted, three-way split.
01:42And I do, not the two, movie queen, the play, the scene,
01:48of bringing all the good things out of me.
01:52But now, the last movie, I never thought I'd act this way,
01:58and I gotta say that I just don't get it.
02:01I don't know where we went wrong, but the feeling's gone,
02:05and I just can't get it back.
02:11Stories always end.
02:14If you read between the lines,
02:17you know that I'm just trying to understand
02:20the feelings that you lack.
02:23I never thought I'd act this way,
02:27and I gotta say that I just don't get it.
02:30I don't know where we went wrong,
02:33but the feeling's gone,
02:34and I just can't get it back.
02:36I don't know where we went wrong,
02:44but the feeling's gone,
02:46and I just can't get it back.
