This is my take on Jim Croce’s Roller Derby Queen. I had a blast belting this one out onstage at Austin’s Ale House — it’s fun, loud, and a little ragged in the best way. I tried to stay true to Croce’s playful energy while adding some of my own style. Out of respect for people I know, I adjusted a few lines that felt dated and unnecessarily hurtful toward larger-bodied folks; hopefully I kept the spirit of the this song (I did my best).
