00:00Viewers, we are at Semicon India 2025 and we are joined by Sujit Kumar, member of Rajya Sabha, representing Vodisa.
00:10Sir, how do you see India contributing to this Semicon Mission 2025 introduced by our Prime Minister?
00:18First of all, I would like to thank our honourable Prime Minister, visionary Prime Minister for having the courage to dream to make India a semiconductor powerhouse.
00:32And the target is to have 110 billion dollar ecosystem by 2030.
00:39And you have seen the Semicon 2025, I have been coming here every year and it has grown by leaps and bounds.
00:47Today, almost 40 countries have participated here, there are more than 1500 stalls and I think the footfall would cross at least 40,000 persons footfall.
00:58So, this shows the path that we have covered in the last several years in becoming a global semiconductor powerhouse.
01:10And yesterday, during the inauguration, our Honourable Prime Minister said that if oil was the gold in the past, then chips are the new digital diamond.
01:21Right? So, that was widely, you know, applauded by the industry.
01:25And also, he made a very powerful statement that we should move from paper work to wafer work.
01:32So, basically trying to convince the industry that, you know, there will not be any bottlenecks.
01:37You come, you know, we are here to support you.
01:40We want you to come to India, you know, be a part of this great journey.
01:44And, you know, any bottlenecks, any, you know, difficulties you face, we will take care of that.
01:53But, we are extremely, you know, pleased to see that the India Semiconductor Mission has already, you know, sanctioned 10 projects, including two in my own state, Odisha.
02:03And, Odisha, as Honourable Prime Minister keeps saying that, you know, there will be Purova there, rise of the East.
02:10And, Odisha is playing a very pivotal role in that Purova there, rise of the East.
02:15And, we are very hopeful that in the next couple of years, Odisha will emerge as one of the semiconductor hubs in the country.
02:22Yesterday, our Honourable Chief Minister also was here.
02:24And, we met, you know, the top industrial leaders from across the world.
02:28They have all shown their commitment to come to Odisha and to help build the semiconductor hub and the ecosystem in Odisha,
02:38which will ultimately, you know, help our country.
02:42So, thank you, Honourable Prime Minister, for, you know, guiding us, for leading us in making our country a semiconductor powerhouse.
02:51First of all, congratulations on your win. If we talk about state policies, how Odisha is implementing this semiconductor project?
03:00Yeah, you know, various states have come up with their own state policies.
03:04But, I can say it with utmost certainty and confidence that Odisha's semiconductor policy, which came out recently,
03:12is one of the most forward-looking policies. You know, don't take my word for it.
03:18You can go through the policy and I'll urge your, you know, viewers also to go through the policy document and find out for themselves the kind of support,
03:26the kind of incentives that the government of Odisha is going to provide to those who are willing, willing to come to Odisha.
03:34And, we want to be, you know, your facilitator. We want to help you in your journey in, you know, building your semiconductor ecosystem.
03:44So, please come to Odisha. And, not to say that other states are not doing, you know, anything.
03:50Many states, other, many other states, like UP, for instance, has a very good policy.
03:54Guzat, of course, Guzat has been a pioneer state. Karnataka has Assam, you know, we have an OSAT in Assam.
04:02Tata's have gone to Assam. So, various states have now come forward with their own state policies.
04:07But, Odisha policy is one of the best in the country. The kind of support we are giving to the industry is unmatched.
04:14And, we are also ready to design bespoke policies, you know, give specific policy incentives benefits to those who are, you know, willing to come to us for negotiations, for discussions.
04:27Sir, my last question is, where do you see India and even Odisha in the upcoming five years or by 2030 in this semiconductor?
04:36I said, you know, we want to see ourselves as a semiconductor powerhouse. Already, we have two units, one fab, silicon carbide compound semiconductor fab.
04:48And, one advanced packaging unit. In the days to come, in the months to come, there will be many more units that will come to Odisha, both, you know, in the fab space and in the packaging space.
05:01So, if you ask me where, or if you ask me to give an exact number, I foresee in the next five years, Odisha will become at least a 10 billion dollar semiconductor ecosystem. Definitely. If not more, definitely a 10 billion dollar.
